Icon of the Passionate meaning of the image
On the icon, the Helper of Sinners, the Mother of God is depicted up to her chest, hugging the Child Christ to her. The face of the Mother of God is mournful, her expressive eyes are sad. Icon of the Passionate, how does the Mother of God help?
The day of the miraculous Icon of Passion is celebrated on August 26 every year.
Passion - this word means both “suffering” and “sins”. That is, the Mother of God releases Her Son to suffer so that He atones for our sins. Christ was condemned by Pilate at the request of the same people who had recently loved and welcomed Him. And after being condemned to death, the Lord was Crucified on the Cross, like the last robber, with ordinary robbers nearby, on Golgotha - the place of execution, the place of execution of criminals, outside the walls of Jerusalem. The apostles left Him, afraid of death, and only the Most Holy Theotokos with the Apostle John the Theologian remained at the Cross. Therefore, we can say that Christ was crucified by slander - the Roman authorities for His non-existent crime, but in fact He aroused the hatred of the Pharisees.
The teaching of the Lord Jesus is a call to repentance, to the love of all people for all people, compassion and pity even for terrible sinners. The story of a peasant woman
In the Nizhny Novgorod region lived Ekaterina, a sick woman possessed by demons. Exhausted by endless attacks of black epilepsy, the peasant woman began to pray to the Queen of Heaven.
