Text of Philaret of Moscow's prayer for every day
The miraculous prayer of Philaret of Moscow may sound like this:
"God! I don't know what I need to ask of You at this time in my life. After all, only You, Almighty, know what I need now. You are a Great Lover of Humanity, I know that you love me more than I can love myself. Heavenly Father! Grant me, Your indecent and sinful Servant (proper name), everything that I myself do not dare ask for. I do not dare to pray for the holy cross and consolation: I only humbly stand before You bowed. My heart is open to You: you see all my needs, even those that I am not aware of. Look at me from heaven and do with me according to Your great mercy. I accept your any will: if necessary, strike or heal me, depose or raise me. I revere and remain silent before Your image. I trust only You and trust in Your mercy. I have one desire - to fulfill Your will. Teach me to believe and pray! Amen".

Personal characteristics
Filaret of Moscow was very educated and left behind many works - theological and not only. He translated the akathist to the Mother of God, composed interpretations of the psalms and the book of Genesis. At the same time, he managed not to become proud and to preserve the truly evangelical spirit.
The saint always remained principled and did not like to compromise in order to please someone. For the Church, for the preservation of monasticism, he did a lot - as best he could, he supported Optina Hermitage, which at that time had not yet become famous. He could even speak out sharply against the monarch if it went against Christian principles. He acted as his conscience dictated, did not seek personal gain, did not take sides, knowing only one boss - Christ.
Perhaps this is precisely what irritated his ill-wishers, of whom there were many. But they could not influence the people's memory, in which he remained forever.
Who is Saint Philaret Metropolitan of Moscow
All the ancestors of the most famous Saint in the Orthodox world had holy orders. After graduating from primary school, the boy, who from birth bore the name Vasily, was sent to the seminary. Upon graduation, he went to study at the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. The young man studied well, so after final exams he was accepted into the Lavra as a teacher. Soon the young man decides to take monastic vows and becomes monk Philaret. But very little time will pass and the church decides to make him a clergyman.
Fate brings the young man, and he ends up serving in St. Petersburg, and in 1821 Filaret becomes Moscow Metropolitan. This man was highly respected by believers; many came to him for help and appreciated his holiness and kindness. During his service to the Lord, the priest accomplished many useful deeds that promoted Orthodox teaching. He contributed to the construction of Orthodox churches in many cities. He founded more than 10 monasteries in Moscow and the region. For his activities he was noted and was awarded the right to wear two panagias, while most bishops had only one.
Metropolitan Philaret of Moscow is also known for his social life. In particular, he arranged a poetic correspondence with his favorite Russian poet A.S. Pushkin. His educational activities were very intense. During his lifetime, he was the first to begin translating the Holy Scriptures into Russian. The saint believed that for most believers the Church Slavonic translation remains difficult to understand. And this significantly worsens the quality of prayer. Unfortunately, a slanderous denunciation prevented him from completing this work.
Metropolitan Filaret of Moscow was considered a very educated person. He worked constantly and left behind a huge number of theological works in the form of a wide variety of studies. He had a very principled character and did not like to compromise in order to please anyone. In matters of maintaining the Church, he sought to help all its ministers and truly supported monasticism. In particular, Optina Pustyn, which at that time was not yet widely known, was under his protection. The Metropolitan always acted according to his conscience; he allowed himself to speak harshly even in relation to the monarch if state activities ran counter to Christian dogmas.
The independent behavior of Filaret of Moscow irritated many. Therefore, he had many enemies and enemies who tried to harm him. But no matter what, the Saint always acted as his conscience told him. He recognized for himself only one boss - the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The saint died on one of the Sundays after the service. He knew this day in advance. Metropolitan Philaret of Moscow was buried in the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. He was canonized as a Saint in 1994. Today the relics of the Saint are in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.
general description
During his lifetime, Filaret performed many good deeds. He studied diligently at the theological seminary, but at the same time also managed to help care for the sick in a medical seminary institution. As for Orthodox Christianity, after graduation, Filaret did a lot for its development. For example, he actively preached Christianity, led the Moscow diocese, and wrote a complete course of theological sciences, which were later used by seminarians in the learning process.
It is believed that Filaret began every day with a prayer of thanks, with which he turned to the Lord. Then he independently performed the service in the temple or was present at it and took an active part. Filaret devoted a lot of time to the affairs of the diocese. Moreover, if someone praised him or expressed their respect out loud, the blessed one only modestly replied that he was not worthy of such words.
In 1994 he was canonized.
Philaret’s prayer of thanksgiving is still said by many Orthodox Christians today. This is done so that people can thank God for all the blessings that they have. When reading this prayer book, it is not advisable to ask the Lord for any additional benefits. God will hear your words of gratitude, but he always sees everyone and understands what we all need. He will certainly give it, the main thing is that the words of the prayer are spoken sincerely.
This religious text is not only gratitude, but also a search for salvation. It is believed that it will help those who have long despaired of the power of medicine and cannot recover from any illness. It is recommended to say this prayer every morning. At this time, thoughts, as a rule, are not yet clogged with everyday affairs, so it is much easier to concentrate on sacred words.
The prayer book compiled by Philaret of Moscow reveals to us the soul of a humble monk who does not dare to ask anything from the Lord. He only wants to fulfill the holy will of the Creator and is endlessly grateful for everything that he has.
Of course, this sacred text will be not only powerful spiritually, but also instructive for every Orthodox Christian.
The main thing is to believe in the power of the words you say and read such a prayer exclusively with good thoughts and intentions every day, patiently waiting for something good. In this case, you will appreciate the completeness of this text, and you will even be able to be healed of a serious illness.

Prayer of a Trader
God, rich in mercy and bounty, in whose right hand are all the treasures of the world! By the arrangement of Your all-good Providence, I am destined to buy and sell earthly goods to those who need and need them. O All-Bountiful, Most Merciful God! Overshadow my labors and occupations with your blessing, make me rich in living faith in You, make me rich in all generosity in accordance with Your will, and grant me that income that on earth consists of contentment with one’s condition, and in the future life opens doors Thy mercy! Yes, having been pardoned by your compassion, I glorify you, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, forever and ever. Amen.
In matters of trade, not everything can always be foreseen; we often have to rely, as it seems to us, on luck and a lucky chance, but in fact, on the will of the Lord. Prayerfully starting any new business, we ask the Lord to show us the right path and protect us from mistakes, we ask to send us meetings with honest people and protect us from devilish temptations and temptations.
As with any prayers for help, it should be remembered that the grace of the Lord will only abide in the deeds of those people who conduct them honestly, and caring for the good of their neighbors.
Childhood and youth
Vasily Drozdov’s father was a deacon, who gave his son an excellent moral upbringing and an appropriate primary education. From an early age, Vasily had a thirst for knowledge, did not like noisy companies, preferring to spend time in solitude reading books. He liked playing the harp and chess.
At the appropriate age, Vasily Drozdov entered the theological seminary, where he showed himself to be one of the best students. He studied with great desire and interest. Later, his studies took place at the Holy Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, after which Vasily Mikhailovich was invited to stay and work as a poetry teacher. And he agreed.
Prayer before leaving home for help and protection throughout the day
I deny you, Satan, your pride and service to you, and I unite with you, Christ, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. (And protect yourself with the sign of the cross.)
In order for all your affairs outside the house to be successful, for meetings with people to be beneficial and joyful, for dangers to be avoided, before you cross the threshold of the house, remember the ancient Russian Orthodox tradition of reading a short prayer to help and bless your every step.
If you are planning any particularly important things for this day, especially those related to work and money, read this prayer three times thoughtfully and leisurely.
Prayer on the day of remembrance of the millennium of Russia
“Lord God, King of the ages, speak about the tongue and the kingdom and create and plant them! Falling before Your Majesty with fear and reverence, we gratefully confess Your mercies, which have been manifested in many parts and in many ways over ten centuries to the people and the kingdom of Russia.
For You, Lord, have spoken Your creative word on this people, and You have created a kingdom in them, and You have planted, and rooted, and increased, and You have expanded it into the lands of its habitation, and You have placed real power over it from You, and You strengthened him against those who opposed him, and you protected him with laws, but most of all, you enlightened and inspired him with saving faith, and even if sometimes you visited his unrighteousness with a rod, but you did not remove your mercy and do not move away from us.
We glorify You, Lord, Lord and Benefactor, we praise, thank, sing and magnify, and, from Your very bounty in faith and hope, confirmation and boldness before You is acceptable, we humbly pray: preserve the throne and kingdom of the Most Pious Autocratic Great Sovereign Emperor Alexander Nikolaevich of all Russia in true greatness, strength and glory.
Forgive, O all-merciful Lord, all our sins and our Father, and direct our steps to the doing of Thy commandments.
Keep the Orthodox faith in us in its purity and strength, and may it remain, as it were, the focus of social unity, the source of enlightenment, the foundation and stronghold of national good morals, the truth of laws, the beneficence of government, the inviolability of well-being.
May the ancient planting of goodness not wither and wither, but may a new stem of the best be grafted onto it, and may a new flower of splendor and the fruit of perfection come forth.
So look upon us and be generous to us, so that we may be blessed by You, from day to day and from century to century we bless You, Lord.
Glory to Thee God, our Benefactor, forever and ever. Amen".
After this prayer the following text is read:
“To those who enlightened Russia with the Christian Orthodox faith, Equal-to-the-Apostles Grand Duke Vladimir and Grand Duchess Olga, who successively over the centuries created and strengthened the autocracy of Russia by the Blessed Tsar and Grand Duke, who newly created the Russian kingdom and expanded and glorified it in God, to the deceased Most Pious Emperors and Empresses, eternal memory.
To all the chosen sons of Russia, who for centuries faithfully fought for its unity, good and glory, in the fields of piety, enlightenment, governance and victorious defense of the Fatherland, eternal memory.
Having laid times and seasons in Your hand, Lord, by Your wise all-good Providence, preserved and restored to the All-Russian kingdom for a thousand years, add to Your great mercy and preserve it in faith and truth, in God’s law and well-being for many years and centuries.”
Psalm 37
Lord, do not reprove me with Your wrath; do not punish me with Your wrath. As Thy arrows have struck me, and Thou hast strengthened Thy hand upon me. There is no healing in my flesh from the face of Your wrath, there is no peace in my bones from the face of my sin. For my iniquities have exceeded my head, for a heavy burden is heavy upon me. My wounds have grown stale and rotten because of my madness. I suffered and sloshed to the end, walking around complaining all day. For my body is filled with reproach and there is no healing in my flesh. I would become embittered and humbled to death, roaring from the sighing of my heart. Lord, before You all my desire and my sighing are not hidden from You. My heart is confused, my strength has left me, and the light of my eyes has left me, and that one is not with me. My friends and my sincere ones have come close to me and stasha, and my neighbors are far away from me, stasha and needy, seeking my soul, and seeking evil for me, a vain verb and a flatterer, I have been learning all day long. As if I were deaf and did not hear, and because I was dumb and did not open my mouth. And as a man he would not hear, nor would he have reproach in his mouth. For in You, O Lord, I have trusted; You will hear, O Lord my God. As if he said: “Let my enemies never make me happy; and never can my feet move, but you speak against me.” As if I am ready for wounds, and my illness is before me. For I will proclaim my iniquity and take care of my sin. My enemies live and have become stronger than me, and have multiplied, hating me without truth. Those who repay me evil with a cart of good have slandered me, driving away goodness. Do not forsake me, O Lord my God, do not depart from me. Come to my help, O Lord of my salvation.
“Teach me to pray. Pray within me”: who actually wrote this famous prayer?
The prayer inscribed with the name of St. Philaret of Moscow is probably one of the most famous and beloved in the Orthodox community.
It can be found in almost any prayer book; it is often adjacent to such widespread petitions to God, such as, for example, the Lenten prayer of St. Ephraim the Syrian or the prayer of the Optina elders at the beginning of the day.
However, few know that in fact this prayer was not composed by Saint Philaret. But who? Let's figure it out.
To begin with, let us remember how the prayer often attributed to St. Philaret sounds:
"God! I don’t know what to ask from You! You alone know what I need. You love me more than I can love myself. Father, give to Your servant what I myself cannot ask for. I do not dare to ask for either a cross or consolation, I only stand before You. My heart is open to You.
You see needs that I don't know. Look and do with me according to Your mercy! Smite and heal, overthrow and raise me. I am in awe and silent before Your holy will and Your destinies, incomprehensible to me. I sacrifice myself to You. I have no desire except the desire to fulfill Your will.
Teach me to pray. Pray in me yourself! Amen".
Now read the text of a man who was born 130 years before St. Philaret - the French Catholic writer and theologian, Archbishop of Cambria Francois de Salignac de la Mothe Fenelon *:
"God! I don’t know what I should ask of You. You alone know what we need. You love me better than how I can love myself. O Father! Give Your son what he himself does not know how to ask for. I do not dare to ask for crosses or consolations, but I only present myself and open my heart to You.
Look at my needs, which are unknown to me, look and do according to Your mercy. Strike or heal; calm me down or raise me up; I honor all Your wills without knowing them; I am silent, I sacrifice myself, I surrender to You. I have no other desire than to fulfill Your will. Teach me to pray; pray within me."
Monastic life
In 1808, Vasily Drozdov decides to renounce worldly life and takes monastic vows with the name Filaret. Immediately after this, he was elevated to the rank of hierodeacon, intending to spend his subsequent life in the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. But fate decreed otherwise; he was appointed instructor of philosophy at the St. Petersburg Academy. In addition, Father Filaret taught church history. Later, having received the rank of hieromonk, he began his preaching work. Soon, Father Filaret became known even on the outskirts of the city and in the circles of high society. Three years later, Hieromonk Filaret revealed himself as a professor of theology and took the position of rector of the academy, combining all this with the activity of a writer. After winning the battle with Napoleon, he composed a prayer text for the salvation of the Motherland.
In 1820, Father Filaret was transferred to Yaroslavl and a little later to Moscow, where five years later he received the high, well-deserved spiritual title of Metropolitan. His body rests in the Trinity-Sergius Lavra.
Prayer for guidance on the true path to all saints and ethereal Heavenly Powers
Holy God and rest in the saints, glorified by the thrice-holy voice in heaven from Angels, praised on earth by man in His saints: having given grace to each by Thy Holy Spirit according to the bestowal of Christ, and by that ordaining Thy holy Church to be Apostles, prophets, and evangelists , you are shepherds and teachers, preaching in their own words. You yourself, who act all in all, have accomplished many holiness in every generation and generation, having pleased you with various virtues, and leaving us with an image of your good deeds, in the joy that has passed, prepare, in it the temptations themselves were, and help us who are attacked. Remembering all these saints and praising their godly lives, I praise You Himself, who acted in them, and believing in Your goodness, the gift of being, I diligently pray to You, Holy of Holies, grant to me a sinner to follow their teaching, moreover, by Your all-effective grace, heavenly ones with them be worthy of glory, praising Your most holy name, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit forever. Amen.
Prayer at the end of the case
You are the fulfillment of all good things, O my Christ, fill my soul with joy and gladness and save me, for I am the only One who is most merciful, O Lord, glory to You.
It is worthy to eat as you truly bless Theotokos, Ever-Blessed and Most Immaculate and Mother of our God. We magnify You, the most honorable Cherub and the most glorious without comparison Seraphim, who gave birth to God the Word without corruption.
Having completed any task, turn to the Almighty and the Most Pure Mother of God with words of gratitude. And even if the outcome turned out not to be what you initially expected, do not complain, but rely on the will of God - remember that the Lord always arranges everything in the best way for you.
