From the life story of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker

Already during his lifetime, Nikolai Ugodnik was endowed with the gift of working miracles. In visions, Jesus Christ Himself appeared to him, endowing him with this miraculous gift, with which he healed hundreds of people, and literally snatched some from the hands of death. Tradition says that one day, while sailing at sea, one sailor fell off the mast and crashed so hard that he was considered dead, but the prayer of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker brought him back to life.

Nikolai did good deeds that seemed miraculous to people, but he never demanded gratitude, he even forbade talking about it

This is what happened to a bankrupt rich man and his three daughters: the girls had no money for a dowry, and the father already thought that they would have to become harlots so as not to die of hunger.

Then Nikolai secretly planted a bag of gold coins in their house, which was just enough for the dowry of his eldest daughter. After a while, another bag followed - for the middle one, and when it was the turn of the youngest, the father decided to spy who this mysterious benefactor was, and, seeing Nikolai, threw himself at his feet. Nikolai categorically forbade him to talk about his good deeds. Nevertheless, this story gained fame. It is believed that the tradition of giving gifts to children at Christmas came from her.

Saint Nicholas often acted as a defender of the slandered and innocently convicted, even when they did not turn to him with a request for intercession, so great was his desire for justice. And today many people all over the world offer prayers to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker for help, and they do not go unanswered.

During his long life, whoever did not receive help from Nicholas the Pleasant: simple peasants and military leaders, sailors and merchants, widows and orphans; and it is impossible to count how many sick people he healed. Even many centuries after his death, miraculous healings from his relics occur, which are of great importance for the entire Christian world.

How to read a prayer to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker

People who are far from Christianity do not really believe that prayer helps, but if they find themselves in a difficult situation, they believe that it is enough to read the text of the prayer, and everything will be as “at the behest of the pike, according to my desire.” But that doesn't happen. Prayer can provide very strong protection only if it comes from a pure heart and with sincere faith, and the person pronouncing it is not tainted by bad thoughts and sinful deeds. When offering a prayer to Nicholas the Wonderworker, you need to strive not only to fulfill your request, but also to change yourself - to cleanse your soul, strengthen it in faith, then your life will change radically.

Prayer requires adherence to a certain order, preferably daily reading

Buy an icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, a lamp or candles in a church shop so that they are already consecrated. They usually pray in the morning and before going to bed, alone, so that there is no distraction. During prayer, a lamp or candle should burn in front of the icon. Do not forget that prayer should contain not only requests, but also glorification of the saint and gratitude to him.

Prayer for those in custody or under investigation for a successful outcome of the trial

It was not for nothing that Saint Nicholas was nicknamed the Intercessor - he always helped those slandered and innocently convicted. For those who are in prison or under investigation, this prayer will help strengthen their spirit.

Oh, great wonderworker and servant of Christ, Saint Father Nicholas! You, the quick helper and gracious intercessor of all who call upon you, especially those in mortal troubles. You showed such miracles of mercy in the days of your life. When, after your death, you appeared before the Throne of God, no one can count your mercies, even if you had many languages. You keep those floating on the waters; You saved many drowning people.

You keep them on the road, which were caught by the winds, great snow, fierce frost, and heavy rain. You protect houses and estates from being set on fire by evil-minded people and from ultimate burning. You protect creatures on the way from the attacks of evildoers.

You help the poor and wretched, deliver them from extreme despondency and fall from grace, for the sake of poverty. You stand up for the innocent from slander and unjust condemnation. You saved from death three men who were imprisoned and who were to be cut with the sword.

So, you have been given the great grace from God to pray for people and save those in trouble! You have also become famous for your help among the infidel Hagarians. Can’t you just help me, unfortunate and needy, even if I myself have prepared this lot for myself?

Intercede for me from the despondency and despair that surrounds me in evil. Oh, great saint Nicholas! You yourself suffered imprisonment in prison for the holy faith and, like a zealous shepherd of Christ, you yourself knew how difficult it is to be deprived of freedom and to remain in chains.

Since you have helped many who pray to you in prison! Make this misfortune easier for me, who is sitting in prison. Grant me to soon see the end of my prison stay and receive freedom - not for the sake of continuing my sins, but for the sake of correcting my life!

Pray earnestly for this too, that we may be delivered from eternal prison, that with your help we may be saved, I glorify God, wondrous in His saints, amen.

International Day of Biological Diversity

“International Day of Biological Diversity” is celebrated every year on May 22.

Our planet is inhabited by a huge variety of plant and animal species. Each of them is responsible for their role. Unfortunately, as a result of ever-increasing industrial activity, the species diversity of the earth is constantly declining.

Thus, natural biological connections are destroyed: the habitats and food supply of various living creatures are reduced. The consequence of all this is an even greater and faster extinction. In order to concentrate society's attention on this acute problem, this event was organized.

“International Day of Biological Diversity” was first declared during a meeting of the UN General Assembly in 1995. At first, the event was celebrated on December 29 in honor of the official entry into force of the World Convention on Biodiversity. But 2001

Veshnee Makoshye (Earth Day)

“Veshnee Makoshye” (“Earth Day”) is one of the oldest Old Slavonic, even Vedic holidays dedicated to Mother Earth. It is customary to celebrate it annually on May 22 (Old Calendar 9). In ancient times, people called the date “The Day of the Meeting of the Sun-Yar and the Moon-Yarina,” which were identified with the gods Veles and Makosh, respectively.

According to the ancient Slavic pantheon, they were the traditional patrons of the entire universe, the Earth itself.

It is believed that the holiday was one of the most ancient ritual events, with its roots going back to times that even preceded the appearance of early Slavic cuneiform writing (2-3 centuries AD).

The ancestors of our ancestors believed that during winter, Mother Earth, like a bear, falls into deep hibernation. This is how she gains strength for the new year.
