LIES, DECEPTION AND HALF-TRUTHS (HALF-LIES). SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES

Cunning is a negative human quality that has a deep meaning. Over the centuries, the development of this quality has been facilitated by the social system of society.

But not everyone can explain who the evil person is. Deep down, a person always wants to get more. Cunning is a manifestation of this desire: to get something with less effort.

As a result, a person begins to lie, dodge and look for cunning ways to achieve what he wants. It is very difficult to admit to yourself that you have negative qualities.

Basically, such people come up with ways to justify themselves to others and appear in the best light, which is why they lie. It’s like a lie for good, but for your own good.

↑ Definition

Cunning is a negative personality quality that is characterized by deceit, cunning, and pretense. Very often, cunning helps people achieve their goals. Behind the mask of good nature and friendliness, deceit and hypocrisy can be hidden.

Recognizing this quality in a person can be quite difficult. He begins to disguise himself, shows goodwill, tries to help, but all his actions are saturated with tricks, deceit and hypocrisy.

To win over a person and gain his trust, he pretends to be a friend. Even when he gets what he wants, the wicked person is never satisfied. He becomes irritable and nervous, in pursuit of more and more benefits. Selfish plans come to the fore, and base personality traits begin to prevail.

Phraseologism “from the evil one”

It is impossible to consider the meaning of the word “evil” and not say a single word about the phraseological unit that is directly related to it. The analyzed adjective is linked in the popular consciousness not only with evil, but also with complexity and ornateness. Most people don't really like complexity at all because they don't understand it. True, it also happens that in the heat of an argument a person resorts to very weak arguments. And they say to him: “This is from the evil one,” i.e. there is no substance behind these arguments. They are solely aimed at confusing and confusing the interlocutor. Which, in fact, is what the devil did in his time.

Initially, the Bible insists that a person give only one-word answers to any question: either negative or positive. And under no circumstances should a person swear on anything. If this happens, then the devil is definitely playing with a man or a woman, leading them into temptation and wanting to take away the immortal soul of people.

The phraseology “from the evil one” is not limited to the meaning recorded in the dictionary. Language is a living formation, so the play with meaning largely depends on the speaker. When a person says: “This is from the evil one,” then, in principle, not only the weak arguments of the interlocutor, but anything in general can fall into disfavor. For example, someone doesn’t like technical innovations or the media, and he says: “This is from the evil one.” And such a strategy is completely arbitrary. We think no one understands why some phenomena are from the devil and others from God.

One way or another, we looked at the adjective “evil”, its meaning, synonyms and talked a little about the phraseological unit where it is involved.

↑ Advantages

Man, unlike animals, is endowed with reason and is able to evaluate his actions. You can achieve success in two ways: work and honesty, deception and pretense. The second option is the most cunning. He assumes to gain the trust of people in order to achieve his goals, to set up competitors, to build various intrigues, to pretend to be friends, to play on a person’s weaknesses, etc.

In general, be crafty. For the sake of self-interest, a person can turn a blind eye to his manifestations in relation to other people. Perhaps this way you can achieve success faster, move up the career ladder and receive a lot of bonuses, but deep down, a person ceases to be himself. There are no advantages to wickedness and there cannot be any. This is self-destruction with self-justification.

What it is

The term described implies a negative quality that has a deep meaning. The social structure of society over thousands of years has contributed to the development of this quality.

But not everyone can explain what wickedness is today and who is called an evil person. In the depths of his own nature, every subject desires to receive and have more. And cunning becomes a tool that helps realize this desire: to gain something with less effort. The result is a lie. A person begins to dodge, deceive, and try to find easy, roguish ways to achieve what he wants. At the same time, he does not seek to admit to himself that his actions are classified as negative.

As a rule, people tend to come up with various “arguments” in order to justify themselves and look better, which is why they lie. They consider such actions to be a deception, but this is a deception for the good, forgetting that this benefit is only personal.

So, the meaning of the word guile implies insincerity and a tendency to various kinds of tricks. If a person thinks or feels one thing, but says something else, then most likely he has been struck by the disease of guile. Sincerity is immunity against deceit.

Often the described trait helps people get what they want and achieve their goals. Often, a mask of complacency, smiling friendliness, politeness, and cordiality can hide deceit and duplicity.

Recognizing the character trait of guile in a colleague, friend, or neighbor is often quite difficult. Typically, crafty individuals tend to mask their own falseness of personal benevolence, but all their actions are permeated with tricks, treachery and duplicity.

In order to win over an acquaintance and gain his trust, cunning people pretend to be friends. Even when they achieve what they want, rogue individuals are never satisfied. They become sharply irritable in an effort to gain as much self-interest as possible. Their mercantile plans are always in the foreground, therefore the base features of their personalities begin to dominate.

Homo sapiens differs from the rest of the animal world in that he is endowed with reason, and, therefore, is able to critically evaluate his own actions. You can achieve what you want, success, in several ways: honest work and deceitful pretense. The second way is much simpler. You just need to have a little cunning and a willingness to use falsehood to your advantage. This option involves instilling trust in other people, close and not so close, in order to achieve what you want, deceiving competitors, plotting intrigues, pretending, playing on the weaknesses of the right people.

For the sake of profit, people often close their eyes to their own unseemly acts in relation to other persons. Perhaps with such actions a person will achieve success faster, move up the career hierarchy more quickly and receive many more “goodies”, but in the depths of his nature, he ceases to be himself. Thus, this deceit in simple words can be represented as self-destruction with whitewashing of oneself.

It seems that a lot of things come easy to a two-faced rogue, but the consequences can be very sad. Nobody likes it when they try to manipulate them, play with them like puppets. Someday deceit will demonstrate all its negative consequences. There will not be a single devoted person nearby, a true friend or just a loved one on whom you can always rely.

The constant tension caused by coming up with intricate moves often leads to nervousness. Pretenders usually do not have a good personal life, so, as a rule, they are lonely, as a result of which they feel unhappy. Under the mask, the true “I” is lost, which is difficult to find later. Negative manifestations do not remain without a trace; they poison the soul and negatively affect one’s reputation. Changing after a habit of deceiving, twisting, and using others is often very difficult.

Therefore, it is necessary to explain to the offspring what bad things lie in cunning, since children consider this trait not entirely bad. They classify deceit as half-truths seasoned with a pinch of lies. The trait in question first manifests itself in small things, for example, a person promised to do something, but forgot, and in order not to admit it, he begins to eloquently come up with excuses for himself, deceiving the one to whom he promised.

In the Sacred Works, a lot of attention is paid to the described trait. Cunning in Orthodoxy is the ability to invent evil plans when a person, pretending to be good, realizes his intention.

Thus, we can conclude that a crafty person is accustomed to achieving success at the expense of others; he only seems to be a complacent person. Cunning people are often lonely and lack loyal friends. They are used to making excuses and constantly dodge.

Self-destruction always begins with something small, insignificant. Today I deceived a friend, and tomorrow the degradation is already in full swing and it’s too late to change anything.

Preferring the path of truth, honesty, and hard work, a person takes the path of purifying the soul, and life is filled with harmony and tranquility.

↑ Disadvantages

Many things can come easy to a crafty person, but the consequences are extremely sad. People don't like to be played with like puppets. Sooner or later, deceit will bring its negative fruits in return for all previous successes. There simply won’t be any real friends left; many will turn away and won’t help in difficult times.

The constant stress of coming up with clever moves can lead to nervousness. A deceitful person does not have a good personal life; he is usually lonely and deeply unhappy. Under the mask, the true “I” is lost, which is difficult to find later. Negative manifestations do not remain without a trace, they cripple the soul and spoil the reputation. It can be very difficult to recover from something like this; habits are always hard to eradicate.
