Sightseeing tours of Moscow: 15 best programs for getting to know the white stone in 2022
The other day it became known that in connection with activities that contradict the “Regulations on the exhibition activities of the Russian Orthodox Church,” Regiontekhstroy LLC (Organizing Committee of the MFVC-VVTs) had permission to hold Orthodox exhibition events was revoked. What caused such a decision and what changes in the schedule of Orthodox exhibitions it will cause, the chairman of the Commission for Coordination of Exhibition Activities of the Russian Orthodox Church, abbot of the Don Stavropegic Monastery, Abbot Paramon (Golubka), told the portal “Parishes”.

– As you know, Orthodox exhibitions in Moscow should be held with the Patriarchal blessing and on those sites that were agreed upon and approved in the “Annual Plan of Exhibition Events of the Russian Orthodox Church.”

LLC "Regiontekhstroy" (Organizing Committee "MFVK-VVC") acted as the organizer of exhibitions in the 75th pavilion of VDNKh in accordance with the plan, which was approved by His Holiness the Patriarch.

For several years, this organization, based on its interests, has held a lot of exhibitions and fairs at the VDNKh site, but our concern is that they are held at a good level; In this regard, the annual plan included a slightly smaller number of exhibition events than representatives of this company had expected. Then Regiontekhstroy LLC, without approval and contrary to the annual plan, began to hold fairs at another site - in Sokolniki Park, thereby ignoring the requirements for the organizers of Orthodox exhibition events.

At the same time, I would like to note that all diocesan bishops have been notified that dioceses, monasteries, and parishes can only participate in those exhibitions in Moscow that are indicated in the “Annual Plan of Exhibition Events of the Russian Orthodox Church.” Representatives of the Church Commission for the Coordination of Exhibition Activities, who came to check who was participating in the exhibition event in Sokolniki Park, were not allowed into this site, thereby grossly violating the requirements that the Patriarchate imposes on exhibitions.

Control over who can take part in Orthodox exhibitions is very important, if only to prevent incidents that took place in the past, when the notorious sect of “God Kuzi” operated at exhibition events that had the word “Orthodox” in their names. .

Our commission is a working body. The fact that the organizers of the exhibition prevented its activities was reported to the Hierarchy.

Due to the fact that the organizer does not consider it necessary to take into account church requirements, the blessing of His Holiness the Patriarch was revoked from the (Organizing Committee of the IFEC-VVTs) for those exhibitions that were previously included in the annual plan. An instruction was also given that henceforth no divisions of the Russian Orthodox Church should cooperate with this organization in terms of exhibitions.

General information about Orthodox fairs

How to get a Pole card in Moscow in 2022

After the collapse of the USSR and the departure of atheistic power, spiritual life began to resume in Russia. Orthodox organizations began to work openly, and the construction of churches began. On this wave, Orthodox fairs spread massively. For many years, these events were a mixture of a market and an icon shop, where goods of completely different directions were sold.

The Orthodox fair is a sale of various goods associated with the Orthodox religious movement. The sale is carried out by representatives of both large churches and monasteries, and small thematic publishing houses and icon painting shops, as well as other organizations participating in the life of the Orthodox community.

The Orthodox Fair in Sokolniki is an event where you can buy candles, church supplies and delve into the culture of Orthodoxy.

To participate in fairs, monasteries and churches deliver icons and shrines revered by believers. In addition, donations are collected at fairs for the restoration and construction of churches, and to support small church workshops. Such events are practically the only way to market products for remote dioceses.

Orthodox churches from all districts and regions of Russia can participate in the fair. At some fairs you can meet Orthodox figures from America, England and other foreign countries.

Also present at the events are representatives of:

  1. Ukraine.
  2. Belarus.
  3. Serbia.
  4. Georgia.
  5. Greece.
  6. Jerusalem.

At certain points of the pavilion where the Orthodox fair is held, you can leave notes “On health”, “On repose”, and order “The Indestructible Psalter”

The organizers of such events pay great attention to cultural and educational work, and therefore during the exhibition you can listen to lectures by church ministers, Orthodox psychologists and other church figures

At Orthodox fairs they sell:

  • candles;
  • icons;
  • crosses and neck chains made of gold and silver;
  • spiritual literature;
  • medicinal herbs;
  • tea fees;
  • dishes;
  • incense.

Today, the activities of Orthodox fairs, exhibitions and festivals are strictly controlled by the organizers and representatives of the local diocese, which oversees the events. In the last few years, fairs have undergone major reorganization.

All exhibition displays are divided into thematic blocks, and performances by priests and a concert program are held in the conference hall. In addition, before the opening of the fair, each participant in the event is checked, as are the goods he sells, each of which must correspond to the purpose of the exhibition.

Now the fair has numerous departments:

  • food;
  • spiritual and classical literature;
  • folk crafts;
  • church utensils and household items;
  • clothing;
  • products made in monasteries.

Despite the abundance of goods presented at exhibition stands, the idea of holding Orthodox fairs is far from the usual marketing of products. Their main goal is educational. Fairs are held to attract not only church-going Orthodox Christians, but also people taking their first steps in becoming acquainted with religion, as well as those interested in spiritual issues.

Therefore, in recent years, fair trade has faded into the background, opening up space for the education of citizens in issues of interest to them regarding the life of Orthodox Christianity.

Sokolniki is one of the oldest and most beloved parks by Muscovites. Once upon a time, untouched forests grew in this place, in which the Moscow tsars loved to hunt. And they hunted mainly with falcons - hence the current name.

This area has become known as a vacation spot since the time of Peter the Great: under him (and perhaps by his decree) a clearing was cut in the forest, intended for festivities.

The first exhibitions in Sokolniki began to be held in the 30s of the last century, and in 1959 the first two exhibition pavilions were built - with glass walls, the height of which was 15 meters.

Nowadays, the exhibition complex of Sokolniki Park - it is called the “Congress and Exhibition Center” - is a modern complex that meets the latest requirements of the expo industry. All exhibition pavilions have modern communications facilities, engineering networks and convenient access roads. They can supply and drain water, connect electricity, telephone and dedicated Internet lines. Developers can install both standard and exclusive exhibition stands. In some pavilions, it is possible to carry out installation work using cranes and other special equipment. The total exhibition area of the Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Center exceeds 30,000 square meters.

What makes the Sokolniki Exhibition Center so popular and beloved among Muscovites is the opportunity to combine a visit to the exhibition and a walk in the park. Moreover, the walk itself here can be divided into two pleasant components for a city dweller: it’s nice to wander along the paths of the forest park, and then take advantage of something from the recreational infrastructure. For example, sit in one of the cafes, play with children in the amusement area, or visit the dance floor.
