During that period, by imperial command, Christians began to be forcibly converted to paganism. They were forced to worship stone images and carry sacrifices on altars. Those who disagreed were thrown into prison, mocked and deprived of their lives.

The young man was given only a few days to reflect on the situation. The soldier prayed all the time and one day, going out into the street, he observed a procession of Christians wandering under a Roman escort. Having reached the city square, I noticed a lot of excitement there. The cunning-eyed priest called to enter the temple erected by the pagans to bow and sacrifice to the idols.
Theodore could not restrain himself and, under cover of darkness, burned down the pagan structure. The temple burned heavily, and by dawn there was almost nothing left of it. Thus, doubts crept into the souls of many as to why such powerful ancestral deities did not protect their home.
The ordeals of St. Theodora
It turned out that the authorities found out who set fire to their shrine. He was surrendered by ordinary pagan fanatics. The young man was thrown into prison dungeons. The head of the city ordered not to feed him anything and to wait for a painful death. However, every time the guards came to see if the unfortunate man had died of exhaustion, they were constantly surprised by his flourishing and healthy appearance. It was Jesus who appeared to the hungry at night and strengthened his faith.
The dissatisfied authorities subjected Theodore to multiple tortures, but he did not give in, and his spirit could not be broken. Seeing this, the mayor of Amasia ordered to light a huge fire and burn the staunch Christian alive. Such a terrible fate awaiting Theodore did not frighten him in any way; he prayed to God, sending thanks to Christ, and died in a raging flame.
There is a legend that the body remained untouched by fire. A similar miracle then converted many pagans to faith in Christ.
The whole remains of the murdered man were buried by well-behaved Eusevia near her hometown. Later, some of them were transported to Constantinople, and the other, namely the head, to Italy, where this shrine is located to this day.
Apocrypha
About the Christian exploits of St. Theodore Tyrone's apocrypha is complex. It depicts a young man fighting a terrible snake. This text can be called a passage that tells about the torment endured by the saint. The life itself is only slightly outlined in the initial part of the apocrypha. The name of the saint, as is known, is Theodore, but the word Tyrone means “recruit”, since the guy did not serve for long.

The central part of the holy image is represented by a female figure, who is trying to be carried away by a winged serpent. The lower part colorfully tells about the release of the mother and the fact that an angel from heaven brought a crown for the winner. According to tradition, the hero is depicted as a warrior with a spear and in the appropriate uniform.
