Biography

Paisius of Athos: predictions and biography.

The Holy Blessed Elder Schemamonk Paisios the Holy Mountain (Athos) (in the world Arsenios Eznepidis) - was born on July 25, 1924 in the Greek village of Farasy, on the territory of modern Turkey in the region of Cappadocia.

Baptism. It is interesting that Saint Arsenius of Cappodocia baptized him under the name Arseny, and even predicted a monastic future for the boy during the sacrament.
Moving to Greece. In September 1924, after a forced population exchange between Greece and Turkey, Arseny's family moved to the city of Konitsa in Epirus.
Carpenter training. Arseny was brought up in a rather strict religious family. Perhaps this is what influenced his decision to choose carpentry as his main profession. The boy wanted to be like Jesus Christ, who, as you know, was the son of a carpenter.
Military service. However, he never had to work in his specialty. In 1945, civil war begins in Greece. Arseny was drafted into the army, where he served as a radio operator for three and a half years.
Help the sisters. After leaving the army in 1948, Arseny decides to become a monk. However, this had to be postponed for a couple of years; the sisters needed help.
Novitiate. And finally, in 1950, Arseny went to Mount Athos and became a novice of Cyril, the future abbot of the Athos monastery Kutlumush.
Monasticism. After some time, Cyril sent his novice to one of the Athos monasteries, Esphigmen, where in 1954 he was tonsured a monk under the name Averky. And three years later, in 1957, he was tonsured into the minor schema and given the name Paisiy.
Spiritual life. Over the years of his life, Paisius accomplished many important things. In 1958 he served in Stomio, helping to stop the spread of Protestantism. In 1962 he went to the Sinai Peninsula, in 1964 he returned to Mount Athos and began to live in the Iveron Skete, and since 1978 he has settled in the Kutlumush Monastery. It is there that thousands of sufferers are drawn to him.
Death. Paisiy Svyatogorets died in 1994 near the village of Suroti in the monastery of St. John the Theologian. He was buried there. Currently, pilgrims come to the monastery to venerate the relics of the great elder.
Canonization. In 2015, Paisius Svyatogorets was canonized by the Orthodox Church of Constantinople. In the same year, the Russian Orthodox Church included St. Paisius in the Orthodox calendar.

A great war will take place in Constantinople between the Russians and Europeans, and a lot will be shed blood. “Before the end of times, Russia will merge into one great sea with the other lands and Slavic tribes, it will form one sea or that huge universal ocean of the people, about which the Lord God spoke from ancient times through the mouth of all the saints: “The formidable and invincible Kingdom of All-Russian, All-Slavic - Gog and Magog , before whom all nations will stand in awe.” And all this is the same as two and two are four, and certainly, like God is holy, who from ancient times foretold about him and his terrible dominion over the earth. With the united forces of Russia and other nations, Constantinople and Jerusalem will be captured. When Turkey is divided, almost all of it will remain with Russia...”
