It is worth noting that under Abbot Makedonov, the head was revealed to people in a very beautiful octagonal cypress ark, washed with rose water. True, there were no relics there. Since the righteous man was canonized only in 1991.
Pilgrims from all over the world reverently venerated the head and read a prayer to St. Silouan of Athos. One day, during Peter's Fast, a Greek came to Mount Athos with a seriously ill 14-year-old boy. The boy was shaking and twitching all over. The father asked to be taken to the head of Elder Silouan of Athos.
At the request of the father, the head of the monk was attached to the head and hands. And they forgot to put it on their feet. A real miracle happened. Those parts that were twitching in the boy were healed. A month later, father and son came to the head again to treat their legs. After applying the head to the feet, they were also healed.
Father Chubar, who became a housekeeper after the saint’s death, more than once recalled how he was saved from premature death by Saint Silouan. This happened when he and his father Kirill bought mullet fish from a fisherman and cooked fish soup. Father Chubar took the head of the fish, after eating it, and went to his cell before the service.
As it turned out later, the fish was poisoned. Since the fisherman used poison to catch it, which was concentrated in the head. In his cell he became very ill, and he understood that due to his poisoning he had very little time to live. But suddenly he saw the doors open and the saint approached him. Silouan of Athos. With the words “What, are you sick?” ran his hand over it.
After which his illness instantly disappeared somewhere, and his father got up and went. But Elder Silouan was no longer in his cell. And the door remained as it was, locked with a hook.
There are a lot of such stories. He helped many people heal from various ailments. He also guided those who had lost their way in life onto the true path. His icon today is one of the most revered among Orthodox believers. And the book about him has been translated into 50 languages and is reread a certain number of times by many believers.

Christ appeared to Silouan when the monk despaired and lost strength from the attacks of demons
One night, Silouan’s cell was filled with an amazing light.
A gentle voice said: “Accept, this is grace.” Silouan's soul was confused and did not believe these words.
Every subsequent night he saw demons and talked with them. They said: “You are now a saint,” “You will not be saved.”
Silouan asked the demon why they were saying contradictory things. The demon laughed and replied: “We never tell the truth.”
From the attacks of demons, the young novice Silouan was tired, depressed, and his spiritual strength dried up. In despair, he thought: “It is impossible to beg God.”
On the same day, during the evening service, in the Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah, near the icon of the Savior, Silouan saw the living Christ. A feeling of bright joy overwhelmed him. The grace of the Holy Spirit filled the soul and body. Silouan lost strength from what he saw. Jesus disappeared.
The great shrine of Orthodoxy is the miraculous icon of the Savior. The icon is kept in the Russian St. Panteleimon Monastery on Mount Athos. During prayer to this icon, Jesus Christ appeared to Silouan of Athos
The epiphany of Jesus Christ impressed Silouan so much that all his life he remembered the grace that poured into his soul.
“The Lord loves us so much that we ourselves cannot love so much. All saints, you live in heaven and see the glory of the Lord, and your spirit rejoices... My soul is drawn to see the Lord and misses Him in humility, as unworthy of this good.”
(from the prayer of Silouan of Athos)
Icon “The Appearance of the Lord to St. Silouan” from the Church of St. Silouan of Athos. The miracle of the Epiphany of Jesus Christ to the young novice Silouan is depicted.
Silouan said that God is unconditional love, which is poured out on everything and is known only by the Holy Spirit:
“The Holy Spirit is love; and this love is poured out in all the souls of the holy inhabitants of heaven, and the same Holy Spirit on earth in the souls who love God.”
Silouan taught that true love begins from the fear of God. Fear of the Lord cleanses the soul of a believer, makes it mature and leads to love.
In his old age, Saint Silouan prepared for death and wrote the following lines:
“My soul yearns for God and tearfully seeks Him. Merciful Lord, You see my fall and my sorrow, but I humbly ask Your mercy: pour out the grace of Your Holy Spirit on me, a sinner. The memory of her draws my mind to find Your mercy again.”

The monk was a strong spirit and physically powerful man. A real Russian hero. His character was soft and forgiving.
Little Semyon studied at school for two years. In peasant families, children had no time to study. It was more important to help my parents.
Young Semyon served in a sapper battalion in St. Petersburg. He returned home after the army and began drinking with friends, drinking and getting drunk.
One day he had a dream that a snake was crawling into his mouth. I woke up in horror and heard the beautiful voice of the Mother of God: “Are you disgusted? I also hate to see what you do with your life.” For the rest of his life, the monk thanked the Mother of God for this instruction.
At the age of 26, he left as a pilgrim to the Holy Mount Athos. He became a monk at the Russian Panteleimon Monastery and was named Silouan. There he took a vow of celibacy.
Monk Silouan was a patient and kind man. In the monastery he performed ordinary obedience. He was loved and praised for his hard work and humble nature.
Silouan often prayed to the Mother of God, and received a rare gift from her. The prayer entered his heart and remained there forever. Silouan said: “Praying for people means shedding blood.”
