Holy Trinity Seraphim-Diveevsky Monastery is a special place located in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Curious tourists studying the history of Russian lands and numerous pilgrims from Christian countries who humbly ask for the intercession of the Mother of God come here.
Holy Trinity Seraphim-Diveevo Convent
The Canal of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Diveevo: the history of its origin
At the end of 1825, the Monk Seraphim of Sarov received a vision of the Most Holy Theotokos, who commanded the creation of a maiden community in Diveevo (modern Nizhny Novgorod region).
The Mother of God walked along the ground around the future site of the community. Together with Her were the apostles Peter and John the Theologian. In the place where the Mother of God passed, with the blessing of the saint, the Canal of the Most Holy Theotokos in Diveevo was dug. It was a moat with a bank on the inside. In 1829, work began on creating the Kanavka. The first to dig a ditch was the Monk Seraphim. Then the nuns of the communities got down to business. A ditch was dug three arshins (213 cm) deep. To strengthen its walls, the nuns planted gooseberry bushes.
Even during the construction of the Holy Canal, the first grace-filled help to believers began to appear. Elder Feodosia Vasilievna was healed from epilepsy, and the monk sent her to dig the Kanavka.
Noting the significance of the Kanavka under construction, Saint Seraphim said that “The Antichrist will pass everywhere, but he will not jump over this Kanavka.”
Revival after the Soviet era
The canal of the Most Holy Theotokos in Diveevo almost disappeared during the years of Soviet power and was covered with garbage.
In 1988, the gradual revival of the Diveyevo monastery began. The restoration of the Holy Kanavka was completed by 2004. The work was carried out manually by the sisters of the monastery.
Currently, the Canal of the Blessed Virgin Mary deviates from the plan drawn up in the second half of the 19th century. However, it was completely created according to the instructions of St. Seraphim (in size and depth). Previously, due to technical reasons, this was impossible. Now the length of the ditch is 775 meters, and the internal territory has an area of 2,995 desiatinas (the size of the territory of the Mill Community).
A path made of concrete bricks was created on the inner rampart. The ditch is surrounded by a metal fence, the bottom is concreted. To strengthen the slopes of the ditch, wooden struts were installed.
Canal of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Diveevo: modern veneration
The prayer rule for the Diveyevo sisters was established by the Venerable Seraphim of Sarov himself:
“Whoever walks the Canal and says to himself the prayer “Rejoice to the Virgin Mary” 150 times will find Athos, Jerusalem, and Kyiv here.”
Fulfilling the blessing of the monk, the nuns of the monastery walked daily through the Kanavka, reading the prayer of the Mother of God “Virgin Mother of God, rejoice...” 150 times. Every 10 times it was supposed to read the prayer “Our Father...”
Currently, this tradition has been resumed. The nuns of the Diveevo Convent walk around the Holy Kanavka every day at 9 p.m.
The Holy Kanavka in Diveevo attracts a large number of pilgrims and workers. On the feast of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the path on Kanavka is decorated with a carpet of mown grass and flowers. Many believers collect this herb, dry it and use it as a shrine (used during illnesses).
For pilgrims, at the end of the Kanavka there is a tray with consecrated earth, which can be taken with them and kept as a shrine.
“The Lady Theotokos, through unity with God and through Her unparalleled service to the Lord of all, quickly becomes everything for those who ask with faith and love for Her intercession, delivering them from all evils and giving them everything they ask for salvation” (Righteous John of Kronstadt, 1829- 1908).

I can’t help but share my story of my trip to this wonderful place. I, like many, was worried that I couldn’t get pregnant. I was treated for unknown reasons for many years; I had several failed IVF treatments. My hands gave up, I was tired... how much bitterness there was, how many tears, probably only those who are in this skin will understand.
One day the thought came to me that I should go to Diveevo. I found a pilgrimage service and signed up for the trip. We only had to wait a few weeks before leaving. I wanted to get to this place with all my heart.
Our bus arrived in Diveevo early in the morning. It was 5 or 6 o'clock in the morning. Our group was settled in houses that were located not far from the monastery itself.
The territory of the monastery is very beautiful. There is peace there... Once there, I felt much better. I calmed down... The leader of our group told us where the shrines of this monastery are located, told us that we need to venerate all the holy relics and visit the springs. I had an unlimited amount of time and I plunged into that atmosphere headlong.
Slowly, at my own pace, I walked around everything there, but this is what happened to me on the holy groove...
When I approached the holy ditch for the first time, I forgot that I needed to go and read a prayer. I felt like a child who ran to his mother in tears and cried in her chest and talked about his grief. I walked along the groove, I told the Mother of God, as if I were my mother, about my bitterness, I asked in my own words to help me. My tears were flowing, my heart was beating wildly, I didn’t see or hear anyone around me... it was as if I was in another dimension. As the hostess of the house where we stayed told me, the mind, heart and soul must work on this groove. That's how it really happened! She gave me her rosary to pray on the canal, but I held it in my hands and forgot everything))
I then walked along the holy groove a couple more times with prayer. As they say, you need to have time to read the prayer to the Mother of God 150 times. To be on time, I advise you not to rush... Don’t try to calculate your step speed and reading speed! Walk calmly, read the prayer at your own speed, do not look how much is left until the end of the groove. Walking along the groove, you need to be calm, not think about outsiders and trust in God. So I did. And my last step was equal to the last word of prayer.
I stayed in Diveevo for a little more than a day. I visited holy springs, in one of which I bathed despite the cold. I even got into monastery obedience. A male monastery worker approached me and offered to undergo obedience. Our group leader warned us about this. Sometimes pilgrims are asked to help with housework. The work can be different: washing dishes, washing floors, doing laundry, working in the garden, in the bakery...
I put the blessed crackers into bags)
If you are going to go to this place, then don’t hesitate for a minute! You will feel how everything will change for the better.
I really want to go there again!!! But I’ll wait until my child grows up)) we’ll go together!

I went there myself 2 times, but I will never forget this feeling of grace. Although a lot of temptations befell me there in two weeks, I didn’t regret for a second that I went there.

Holy place
Flaws:
a lot of beggars
If you are in Diveevo, be sure to walk along the holy ditch. Believers say that you need (I don’t remember how many times, but a lot) to read prayers while walking along it. But personal experience suggested that this is impossible, since thoughts simply turn off, absolutely everything, both bad and good, the head is clear and free from everything. And, in general, Diveevo is a village of amazing beauty and nature. Even though it’s small, there is somewhere to take a walk there, but not in winter.

We went to Diveevo in July, arrived early in the morning, just in time for the morning service in the temple. I was amazed by the abundance of flowers and greenery, the territory of the monastery was well-groomed, everything was done very carefully and with great love. We stayed there all day. In the refectory we were fed, no frills but very tasty. I even took the recipe for sauerkraut according to the monastery, although I can’t make it like this at home, but it’s still delicious. There are excursions around the territory of the monastery, if you wish, you can order and they will show you and tell you about the monastery, about Seraphim of Sarov, about the Mother of God. There was a long line to see the shrine with the relics of Seraphim of Sarov, but people wait patiently and do not complain. We also walked along the holy ditch - the main shrine of the convent, took land from there (it helps in difficult times, you just have to believe in it). The monastery is very attractive, but not for a walk, but with faith you need to go there. After the trip to Diveevo, we had a very successful year, and everything improved in family relationships, and everything went as it should at work. I advise you to visit if possible, but of course you need to go with faith and you will not regret it. It is better to go overnight at the monastery there is a hotel for pilgrims. And yet, it is necessary to adhere to the rules of monastery life - do not make noise, you cannot smoke on the territory, in general do not disturb the peace of the monastery.

I always wanted to visit Diveevo, Nizhny Novgorod region. But something happened that I didn’t even expect. She went there to live and lived for eight whole years. I can say that it is very beautiful there, but only in the summer. There are many people, mostly just visitors and believers, very believers, sometimes there are even fanatically crazy people. Pilgrims come there from all over the world. For eight years, I haven’t seen anyone. They also came from far abroad, Germany, America, Poland...
But there are also disadvantages. There are a lot of homeless people. Only visitors who come on major holidays will not see them in all their numbers. This is how Diveyevo is “cleansed”, that is, they simply remove all the alcoholics who disgrace the Diveyevo administration and the view. After the holidays are over and most of the pilgrims leave, they come back.
But not everything is as bad as I describe, because I write as a local resident. And for visitors everything is wonderful there, hotels, friendly people, beautiful nature, unforgettable excursions around the temple and illuminated springs (springs). The temple is constantly being restored, so if you go there, for example, once a year, you will always be pleasantly surprised.
I repeat once again, if you have chosen a trip to Diveevo, go in the summer, the unforgettable sensations will last for a long time.

Advantages:
There are different temples on the territory, with different architecture. The choir at the service is simply mesmerizing. Icon "Tenderness".
Flaws:
At the time of the first visit, some churches were under restoration.
I visited for the first time 4 years ago. We took a tour for 2 days. Priced at 2500 per person, the amount includes accommodation in a guest house, 2 lunches, excursions around the territory of the Diveyevo Monastery. In my free time I had the opportunity to stand in the service and venerate the Tenderness icon. The Holy Trinity Cathedral contains the relics of Seraphim of Sarov. There are a lot of pilgrims.

Hello, dear review readers!
This is my very first and largest review.
I don’t like unnecessary deviations from the essence, so let’s go!
We went to Diveevo 2 times: the first time with my family, the second with my husband. I liked it better with my husband, because this or that was not the case for my relatives. My husband and I managed to walk around everything up and down.
A feeling of peace, tranquility and inner freedom is felt as soon as you enter this wonderful place. The village is small, there is nowhere to get lost, all the churches: Holy Trinity Seraphim-Diveevsky Monastery, Alexander Nevsky Church, Trinity Cathedral, Transfiguration Cathedral are within walking distance, there are church benches and stalls with souvenirs, as well as the main reason for my husband and I’s trip — Canal of the Holy Mother of God. I would like to talk about it in more detail...
Taking the first step along the Holy Canal, you need to begin to read the prayer “Virgin Mother of God, rejoice...” after reading this prayer 150 times, while saying “Our Father...” at every ten, your soul becomes lighter, you don’t even notice how time passes with each step . Stepping onto the ground after the groove, one is struck by a feeling of security, extraordinary joy, and spiritual lightness.
We managed to visit the temple where the relics of St. Seraphim of Sarov are located, I want to say that on Family Day of Love and Fidelity - July 8th there are a lot of people there; There are queues of several meters to see the relics and icons! Icons, crosses, and church brochures are consecrated on the relics of Seraphim of Sarov.
We didn’t take pictures in the temple itself, but it was indescribably beautiful there.
Also on the territory of the Temples there is a small fountain decorated with statues of angels.
One of the most amazing things was the stunning garden! It is very large and beautiful, the guests of the monastery take care of it every day and do not let it wither away, in addition, visitors are prohibited from entering this garden!
As for accommodation, my husband and I chose a small apartment located near holy places, but on the website of the village of Diveevo
https://www.booking.com/city/ru/diveevo.ru.html?ai…
there are many offers for overnight stays. Prices vary from 500 rubles per person per day, ending with several thousand. I would like to note that on holidays, people renting out apartments double their prices.
The trip cost me and my husband 15,000 rubles. with gasoline, overnight accommodation, food, and souvenirs.
I hope my review was helpful!

Wonderful place - blessed Diveevo! I’ve been there so many times, but it still seems like I’m going there for the first time...
A small cozy village that has a very high status - the Lot of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The land of Seraphim of Sarov and the sisters of the Diveyevo monastery. Holy Land. What a blessing that our country has this wonderful piece of paradise!
The first time I came to Diveevo was 5 years ago. Then we gathered for a group excursion, fortunately the village was not far from my region. »
Not really knowing WHERE I was going, I dressed up. Makeup, hairpins, curls. Like going to a disco, in general. I remember walking down the street past the Diveyevo church, and the abbess came towards me, probably such a serious woman in a black robe and headdress. He looks at me and says: “Take off your heels! Don’t embarrass the Mother of God!”
I was embarrassed myself. All the pilgrims around were inconspicuous, in headscarves and dark floor-length skirts, and I was like a scarecrow with my curls...
Because of this, I did not walk along the groove of the Virgin Mary, nor did I venerate the icon of Seraphim of Sarov.
I came home with mixed and heavy feelings. I rushed to my laptop and began to read voraciously about Diveyevo. And the more I read, the more tears flowed. Sincere tears of indignation at myself, repentance for my ignorance.
Therefore, now, before going somewhere, I definitely read about this place before the trip.
I read about people who live very far away or do not have the financial opportunity to visit Diveevo. They asked to light candles for their health, to pray that God would give them a chance to come to the Mother of God.
I thought: “Lord, how many people dream of going to Diveevo at least once, but I walked on in heels with painted lips, waved my tail and left...”
The next year I returned there again, thank God. But with a feeling of reverence. And this grace lives in me until the next trip. I sho
As I already noted, in Diveevo you should definitely visit the Canal of the Most Holy Theotokos. They say that the Queen of Heaven herself walks along it every day with her little piles. And whoever walks along the groove and reads Her prayer 150 times, She will never leave him!
Walking along the ditch is such a pleasure! I walked barefoot. Everything around is fragrant, and there is silence... Roses and other flowers grow. In the middle of the path is the Worship Cross. The ditch itself is 700-odd meters long. I walked along it for about half an hour.
When leaving the ditch, everyone can pick up illuminated earthen soil. Nearby they sell special bags for 5 rubles. The church also distributes free crackers lit in the cast iron of Father Seraphim and butter from his relics.
Temples and monasteries are the heart of Diveevo. You can venerate the priest’s relics and even his personal belongings - a spatula, bast shoes, a bag, a hat.
On the territory of the monasteries there are bookstores and refectories with incredibly tasty and simple food.
So you will not remain hungry either spiritually or physically.
Diveevo is also famous for its healing springs. You can take water home and you can also take a swim. Swimwear, handkerchiefs, plastic containers for water of various sizes are available for free sale.
My dream is to live in Diveve for several days with my phone turned off. That is, to live a normal human life - in silence and prayer.
Father Seraphim said that Diveevo is both Athos and Kyiv, and all in one place. Because here is grace. Because this is the lot of the Queen of Heaven, and that says it all...

Advantages:
A very beautiful and blessed place that is truly healing, where you can relax your soul with your family, restore your emotional and spiritual background.
Flaws:
Quite fussy, a lot of people, high prices, a long line to the Relics of Father Seraphim, lines to the refectory, in the summer it can be difficult to get a hotel.
A very beautiful place where God's Grace is truly felt. The splendor of the temples is amazing. The feeling of heaven on earth does not leave you. Every corner is cultivated and cared for by the hands of the sisters of the monastery. There is a sense of sacredness in everything. A special place is the groove of the Blessed Virgin Mary. You walk and feel peace, time stops, there is no hurry, the sensations are difficult to convey. At the same time, there are also disadvantages: for example, there is a certain lack of regularity, there is bustle everywhere, there are a lot of people, every line is at the cash desk in the temple, at the springs, at the refectory, sometimes even to the toilet. Also quite high prices for both goods and items at the cash register.

One big plus from the whole trip!
Flaws:
No
I recently visited the village of Diveevo, was there for the first time, and I want to say right away that the Holy Trinity Seraphim-Diveevo Convent shocked me with its beauty. We left Nizhny Novgorod early in the morning on a tour bus, together with a group of pilgrims, at about 5.00. The group included not only women, but also men of different ages and children. Initially, the bus began to “collect” passengers in the city of Bor, then they crossed the bridge safely and without traffic jams and, taking the last passengers, headed to Diveevo. The journey takes about 3 hours and everything would be fine if it weren’t for the “Chinese” bus: the first hour the seats are moderately comfortable, the 2nd hour you start thinking: how comfortable are they? - the 3rd hour the whole structure is already the bus is a complete minus. (there is no air conditioner, the ventilation is weak, the windows do not open, the hatches have no handles, the aisles are narrow, as is the door in the middle of the bus, if necessary, stop and run into the bushes + the driver grumbles at everything that moves along interior and on the road) Pros were discovered: 2 TVs, good visibility. We arrived in Diveevo almost at 9.00 for the start of the service in the church. At the entrance and along the sidewalk to the temple there are a lot of people collecting on both sides and it’s not a sin to give. Near the nearby source, a young gang of gypsies, about 7-10 years old, are “working”, begging. What was surprising: One gypsy boy, about 7 years old: - “Uncle! - Give it to me! - I’ll pray for you!!! (to the question, do you even know the letters? - Answer: - Well, then I’ll tell my grandfather, he’ll pray!) almost opposite the temple, right behind the Ladya store, down to the lake. On the territory: a chapel, a font, benches with buckets for collecting water, funnels and ladles, and bottles are sold nearby, on the approach to the source. Water is collected up to the font, after which it enters the font and goes into the stream. The bus station is always crowded and there are a lot of tourist buses. On the way to the temple there are many “tent vendors” and “hawkers” who sell a variety of goods: candles, posters, and even honey, which by the way I bought. (About 500 grams for 150 rubles, floral, although it smells like linden, and upon arrival I tried it: fresh and you can “try” the whole jar at once) There is almost everything on the square: Post office, grocery stores, well, in general, everything you might need! It’s summer and construction and renovations are in full swing on the monastery’s territory. The territory of the monastery is simply huge and so as not to get lost and somehow find your way around, at the entrance there is a detailed plan of the territory, right next to the security checkpoint, posted on the fence. There are simply a lot of believers, and just tourists on the territory of the monastery! (There are even tourists who are not of the Orthodox faith; they don’t seem to go into the temple, but they walk around the territory and “take pictures” sharing their impressions with each other, while buying souvenirs from symbols of Diveev as a souvenir of the trip) You can have a snack right on the territory of the monastery in the refectory. There is a guest refectory with special guest coupons, a refectory for pilgrims (paid at 11.00) and regular monastery refectories (paid), which start working at 9.00. The prices are not bad, and for example, I ordered: 2 servings of pilaf with mushrooms - 25 rubles each, 1 cabbage salad - 25 rubles, 2 coffees - 10 rubles each, bread, chocolate - 8 rubles - and all this came out to no more than 150 rubles, even amazing. (we went in the 3rd one) The territory is well-groomed and everywhere is perfectly clean. By the way, you can have a snack both inside the refectory and at a table in the fresh air. Next to the refectory, about 30 meters away, there is a well-equipped toilet, where you can wash your hands, soap and even cleanliness, in general, the territory is monitored day and night! There are also many greenhouses and beds where the monks grow organic products for the monastery. Nearby there is a ditch of the Mother of God, where you need to go through it and read a prayer 150 times in order for a wish to come true, many, when leaving the ditch, collect some land and then keep it at home for well-being, and also crackers of Seraphim of Sarov, which must be consumed in the morning before meals with water from the SV . Source. Just another photo: a church service. The nuns are buried on the territory of the monastery. When it’s hot, you can go in and wash yourself with some water from the bowl. The bell tower, when all the bells sound, the earth shakes! The beginning of the groove path. view from the ditch to the monastery territory. Almost everywhere and everywhere everything is blooming and fragrant, flowers are everywhere. To be honest: upon entering the territory of the monastery, all some everyday thoughts disappeared and somehow my soul began to simply take a break from everyday life. It’s a pity that we wouldn’t have time to venerate the holy relics of Seraphim of Sarov, there are just a lot of people and many stand for hours. At 13.30 our bus headed to a settlement called “Tsyganovka” (at the exit from Diveevo, next to the wholesale market), where St. springs of Seraphim of Sarov and the driver measured exactly an hour to visit this holy place in order to get water and plunge into the believers. At the bottom there is a spring where the water temperature is always 3 degrees, some say 4. At St. himself. the source is crowded as always. You can take a dip in an open reservoir, or simply douse yourself with water at the source; by the way, the changing rooms are right next door. At the entrance to the source, all believers are greeted by this chapel. We set off on the return journey at 15.30 and arrived in Nizhny Novgorod at 18.00, in the city of Bor around 19.00 (via the pontoon bridge). The cost of the trip is 450 rubles per person, this is not a lot, but it costs a lot to visit there!!! The day turned out to be successful, sunny and even hot!!! There are places in Russia that are worth visiting!!! Abroad is good, but at home it’s even better! For anyone who hasn’t been to Diveevo yet, I simply advise you to get there! It will probably be more convenient with your own car than with a tourist bus, and many people come with their own cars, but parking is a bit tight, and the road is broken in places, although there are no regional numbers, 16 and 23 and 02 and 177 and 33, in general people come from all over Russia, regardless of the large amount of time spent on the road. Not far from the monastery, right next to the post office, many rent out their apartments for the day and, if you wish, you can make an agreement and relax in comfort for a couple of days, visiting everything and taking your time, you can buy everything you need in the nearest stores, there is a Guest House next to the post office and you can stay right in the center of Diveevo. The village is quiet, and a traffic police crew is constantly on duty near the temple, most likely to prevent people from driving close to the monastery and parking, and to help the security just in case, so you can stop in the center, and even when there are fewer people in the evening, you can go road and swim in St. source.

We recently returned from our 3rd trip to Diveevo; we always go in November for holidays from the Moscow region (Dolgoprudny). I won’t write about the beauty and spiritual benefits, this is described in great detail in other reviews, I will only say that this place is truly amazing, bright, spacious, the air there is extraordinary. We left home at 6 a.m. and were there at 1 p.m., including stops and gas stations. There is a Pilgrimage Center on the territory of the temple, which we always go to. We were accommodated in a monastery hotel, a room for 4 people, divided in half by a low wall, 500 rubles per person, an infant does not count. On one half there was me and my daughters (1 year and 9 years old), on the other - my husband and father-in-law. The room has a shower, toilet, everything is very clean. Those who are planning to stay there should take into account that there are certain rules of behavior in the room, which is called a cell here: do not smoke, do not drink alcohol, do not make noise, change your shoes, do not go out into the corridor undressed (since we are not tourists, but pilgrims) , it is advisable not to eat. We weren't particularly successful with the last point. On the territory of the temple there is a free refectory, where they read a prayer during meals, the food there is very simple, but if something happens you won’t die of hunger. We ate food in our room that we brought from the store and tried not to waste. In the pilgrimage center itself there is a paid refectory, dinner of mashed potatoes on the water + a piece of fried fish + beet salad = 160 rubles. It’s very good to take a dip in the spring in the fall: the air temperature is close to the water temperature, there is no sharp drop. When you surface, your shirt dries right on your body, it gets so hot. We swam in the springs of St. Panteleimon and the Virgin Mary: they are nearby, not far from the monastery, there are baths and parking there, and in the spring of St. Seraphim in Tsyganovka, it is much further away, next to the Mordovian nature reserve. There are three more, of which we were at Yavlennoye, there is no need to try to drive your car close there, it is better to leave it on the hill and go down, because in rainy weather there is no way back through the clay, there is practically no road. Go, you need to know Russian attractions, and not strive only abroad. At the same time, if you drive by car, you can see the life of the Russian village - a sad impression. They mocked the people and it’s the same now. Hope is only in the powers above and in the prayers of the monks for Russia.

Advantages:
relics of the Seraphim. excellent spring. excellent place.
Flaws:
described above
Extraordinary beauty. All the positive emotions were crossed out by * the priest * with his rudeness. but just asked for a blessing for the birth of a child. God is the judge of the negativity. And all this rudeness and callousness began because of the little one. I never gave a blessing to a very small, barely noticeable piercing on the nose... without knowing the person at all. I couldn’t even imagine that there could be such rude people in God’s temple. It was raining, there was a long line to see the relics of SERAPHIM, and the temple was closed for cleaning for half an hour, people had no choice but to stand and get wet. Despite this, we will again come to WONDERFUL DIVEEVO, this Blessed Place, to the holy relics of Seraphim of Sarov. Let's go to the spring. Let's go along the ditch.
Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary, read on the Kanavka in Diveevo
Virgin Mary, Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with You, Blessed are You among women and blessed is the Fruit of Your womb, for You have given birth to the Savior of our souls.
Miracles of the Holy Canal in Diveevo
“Here the sky meets the earth!” - said Archimandrite Seraphim Chichagov (1856-1937) after visiting the Holy Kanavka in Diveevo.
In 1927, the Bishop of Dmitrov Seraphim Zvezdinsky (1883-1937), later killed by the Bolsheviks, had a vision of the Blessed Virgin Mary. After the evening service, he saw Her walking along the Kanavka.
In May 2006, pilgrim Andrei from Minsk visited the Diveyevo Monastery. After visiting the Holy Kanavka, he took the consecrated land with him. At home, the man shared this land with his neighbor, who had a sister with cancer (with metastases). The woman began to apply the shrine to the sore spots and pray to the Most Holy Theotokos. Some time after the next examination, doctors did not find the tumor.
In 2013, while visiting Kanavka, pilgrims from Samara witnessed the miraculous apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary. During the rain in the sky, they saw the silhouette of the Mother of God, very similar to the icon of the “Abbess of the Diveyevo Monastery.” The entire time the believers were on the Kanavka path, the Mother of God accompanied them.
There are a large number of Orthodox shrines in the world that are known for their miraculous properties, as well as other phenomena. How did the Kanavka appear and what is it?
It is believed that Kanavka was the last will of the Queen of Heaven. Tradition says that in 1823 the Mother of God appeared to Father Seraphim. she showed him the place in Diveevo where it was necessary to build a monastery.
Where is Our Lady's Ditch? She also ordered to surround this monastery with a ditch and rampart. This is how the monastery appeared. A few days before Seraphim's death, the Kanavka was built.
How does she look? This is a heptagon, the length of which along the perimeter is 777 m. During life, 6 sides were excavated, and on the seventh there should have been a large cathedral in honor of the icon of Our Lady “Tenderness”.
After the death of Father Seraphim, difficult times came for the monastery. Construction practically stopped and the ditch was not properly maintained; in addition, they even began to walk and drive along it. Over time, the revival of the monastery began and the ditch was cleared.
Since many believers came to this shrine, its fame spread far beyond the village. Flowers, grass and soil from this monastery are considered miraculous and healing.
Background
Agafya's visions are a story dedicated to Agafya Semenovna Belokopytova. After her husband died, she and her small child left the village, giving herself and her earthly life to God. Her path was directed to Kyiv, where there were already many monasteries at that time. She decided to complete her journey in one way, until one day the Mother of God appeared to her. She told Agafya that she was ordered to go to those lands that would be shown to her and establish a women’s monastery there, which would be her earthly inheritance.
After communicating with the elders, she nevertheless decides to take a new path. Agafya walked around Holy Rus' for a long time, until 1760, when the Mother of God appeared to her again. In a dream, she said that she had found the future holy lands, and it was here that there would be a monastery, which previously had no equal on earth. An event occurred in Diveevo. After sleep, she went to a village nearby, where she and her daughter found shelter. But, unfortunately, the daughter soon died. The woman was no longer held back, and after the sale of the property in 1767, construction of the great cathedral began. When Agafya was 55 years old, her strength suddenly left her. Realizing that her death is near, she asks three monks to accept her confession. On that day, one of them was Seraphim. It was to him that she handed over this divine mission over Diveevo.
Prayer to Our Lady
The same picture can be observed every day. The prayer to the Mother of God in Diveevo on Kanavka has its own structure. They say that the greatest grace is received by those who go through the Kanavka and read the prayers in the following sequence:
- "Our Father",
- "Open the doors of mercy for us"
- “Rejoice, Virgin Mary” ten times.
Everything must be read 15 times. There is a belief that it is best to walk along the Kanavka from 3 to 4 am. They say that at this time the Queen of Heaven appears there and appears as the chosen one.
You can often see a picture of people walking in circles along the Kanavka and saying something under their breath. This is a prayer to the Mother of God on the Kanavka. Many people believe that this request will bring what they want and will also help them get rid of many misfortunes. A large number of people visit this monastery with the aim of visiting and seeing with their own eyes the last destiny of the Mother of God.
We must not forget that we mostly turn to the saints in difficult periods of life. That is why it is worth not only asking for the gift of grace, but also reading prayers of thanks. Thank the Lord for what you already have. This way you will pay attention to your requests.

Use of holy land
Many believers try to take with them a small amount of land, which is considered holy and blessed.
Of course, the earth from the ditch can help believers, but this substance should not be considered something magical or magical.
In fact, in its composition and properties, a handful taken may be no different from one taken from the garden; the only difference here is the faith with which this earthen soil is accepted and used.
Note! Strong faith attracts the attention of the Lord, who with his immeasurable mercy sends grace and every consolation to the Orthodox in any matter.
Land is used in a variety of ways, but the most common are:
- mixing with holy water and using for drinking, of course, in reasonable homeopathic quantities;
- applying to sore parts of the body;
- use in the house, for example, some place it near the bed to protect themselves from the attacks of the demonic army while sleeping.
There may be other options for amulet use: some put a little in the foundation, others bury it around the perimeter of the house, some wear it in a pendant as an amulet.
Important! How to write a note to Matrona of Moscow correctly
This piece of land is especially useful if an Orthodox Christian has a connection with the Diveyevo monastery and regularly prays to the Mother of God in his mind, out loud, at any available moment. By the way, Elder Seraphim advised ordinary believers to constantly perform mental prayer: in the first half of the day - to Christ, in the second - to the Mother of God.
