So did God create man or create him?

If you ask these questions to the average Russian person, he will, without any doubt of the truth, answer that Adam was created by the Lord and Adam was the first man on Earth, that all this is written in the Bible.

True, not a single average Russian person has personally read the Bible. But he was told about this so many times by priests and scholars of scripture from the Moscow Patriarchate that there was no reason to doubt it.

However, in the Bible the appearance of man on Earth is not recorded at all in the way that experts interpret it to us.

To see this, let's turn to the text of the first book of Moses, Genesis.

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that moves on the earth. (Gen. 5, 1-2.)

27 And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female he created them. (Matt. 19, 4. Mar. 10, 6. 1 Cor. 11, 7. Col. 3, 10.)

28 And God blessed them, and God said to them, Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth. (Gen. 8, 17; 9, 1, 7.)

29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed that is on all the earth, and every tree that has fruit yielding seed; - This will be food for you; (Genesis 9:3.)

30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to every thing that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, have given every green herb for food. And so it became.

31 And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning: the sixth day. (Ps. 110:3.)

Please note: God creates man. And it creates both a man and a woman at once. And he created, if we proceed from the text of scripture, not in a single copy. Moreover, a woman was created not from a man’s rib, but in exactly the same way as a man. God did not breathe the breath of life into them. Both man and woman received soul and life immediately as a result of creation.

2 And God finished on the seventh day His work that He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work that He had done. (Ex. 20, 11; 31, 17. Heb. 4, 4.)

3 And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, for on it He rested from all His work, which God had created and created.

And so creation ended in six days. God is pleased with his creation. And rests.

And suddenly, on the eighth day, a new divine person appears in the book of Genesis, who is no longer called God, but the LORD GOD, about whom there was not a word in the Holy Scriptures before the eighth day.

7 And the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul. (1 Cor. 15:45.)

8 And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden in the east, and there he placed the man whom he had created. (Genesis 4:16.)

21 And the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and when he fell asleep, he took one of his ribs and covered that place with flesh.

22 And the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. (1 Tim. 2:13.)

23 And the man said, Behold, this is bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she will be called woman, for she was taken from man. (1 Cor. 11:8.)

The fact that GOD and the LORD GOD are different persons means that they act differently and have different attitudes towards the result of their activities.

The Lord no longer creates man, but creates him from dust. And the Lord, after creating a man, blows the breath of life into him.

And the Lord does not create his wife, but creates him from a man’s rib. That is, Eve is a clone of Adam.

Let me draw your attention once again to the fact that Adam and Eve were created by the Lord on the eighth day. At the same time, the Lord does not declare that the man and woman Adam and Eve created by him were created well.

What conclusion can be drawn from what we have read?

Adam and Eve were created separately and in a completely different way from the rest of the people on Earth.

Adam and Eve are not creatures, but creations of some Lord, but not God.

Adam and Eve were not the first people of humanity, but the first people from whom only a separate and very specific Jewish people descended.

And so the father of the entire Jewish people is the Lord.

But the father of the rest of humanity is God.

And now he will ask who Jesus Christ calls the father of Orthodox Jews.

We read in the Gospel of John 8:44

44 Your father is the devil; and you want to do the lusts of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning and did not stand in the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks his own way, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

And so it specifically follows from the text of Holy Scripture that God is not equal to the Lord God, but the Lord God is equal to the Devil.

And the rest of the understanding of the Holy Scriptures is a consequence of the facts about which I shared my thoughts with you.

Read and reflect.

The Bible, presented for family reading. Creation of the world and man

Creation of the luminaries

"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
The earth was formless and empty, and darkness was over the abyss, and the Spirit of God hovered over the waters.

And God said: Let there be light. And there was light.

And God saw the light that it was good, and God separated the light from the darkness.

And God called the light day and the darkness night. And there was evening and there was morning: one day.

And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it separate water from water. And so it became.

And God created the firmament. And God called the firmament heaven. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning: the second day.

And God said: Let the water that is under the sky be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear. And so it became. And God called the dry land earth, and the collection of waters he called seas. And God saw that it was good. And God said: Let the earth produce green grass, grass yielding seed (after its kind and after its likeness), and a fruitful tree, bearing fruit according to its kind, in which is its seed on the earth. And so it became. And the earth brought forth grass, grass yielding seed according to its kind, and tree bearing fruit with its seed according to its kind on the earth. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning: the third day.

And God said: Let there be lights in the expanse of heaven to illuminate the earth, and to separate the day from the night, and for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and for years; and let them be lamps in the firmament of the heaven to give light on the earth. And so it became. And God created two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night, and the stars; and God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light on the earth, and to rule the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning: the fourth day.

And God said: Let the water bring forth living things; and let the birds fly over the earth, across the firmament of heaven. And so it became. And God created the great fish and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying: Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters of the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.

And there was evening and there was morning: the fifth day.

And God said, Let the earth produce living creatures according to their kinds, cattle and creeping things and wild beasts of the earth after their kinds. And so it became. And God created the beasts of the earth according to their kinds, and the cattle according to their kinds, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

And God said: Let us make man in Our image and after Our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air (and over the beasts), and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that moves on the earth.

And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female he created them.

And God blessed them, and God said to them: Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea (and over the animals), and over the birds of the air (and over every livestock, and over all the earth), and over every living thing that moves on the earth.

And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed that is on all the earth... and every tree that has fruit yielding seed; - This will be food for you; And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to every (creeping) thing that creeps on the earth, in which there is a living soul, I have given every green herb for food. And so it became.

And God saw everything that He had created, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning: the sixth day.

Thus are the heavens and the earth and all their hosts perfect.

And God finished on the seventh day His work that He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work that He had done.

And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it...

And the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.

And the Lord God planted a paradise in Eden in the east, and there he placed the man whom he had created. And the Lord God made from the ground every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food, and the tree of life in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.” (Gen. 1, 1-31; 2, 1-3, 7-9)

So, God’s peace, given as a dwelling place to man, was magnificent. The nature that surrounded him was luxurious; She generously scattered her gifts in front of him. To live and bliss - that was the purpose

man: for this reason he was called from oblivion by the Almighty, All-Good, All-Righteous, and therefore the All-Blessed God, who wanted to share His bliss with His beloved creation - man.

That's the reason

his creation, and at the same time
the beginning
of his relationship to his Creator. These relationships, having received their beginning from the Beginningless and Infinite God Himself, will never have their end.

But the whole point is that, having given life to man, God at the same time gave him free life

a soul, although created in the image and likeness of God, but free of its own will to direct its relationship to God both in the good and in the bad direction.

How did people use this freedom given to them, which infinitely elevates them? In what relationship to God have they placed themselves and are they?

You can trace the history of the relationship between the Creator and the creature in the sacred books written by inspired people. The name of these books is the Bible,

or stories about the lives of people from their creation to the incarnation of the Son of God on earth (Old Testament) and from the Nativity of the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ, to His death on the cross for the sake of atonement for humanity who used its freedom for evil (New Testament, Gospel).

From this sacred source - Divine Revelation, "Biblical stories" are offered, accessible for acquaintance with the history of the union or communication of God with people, which should constitute the initial and main science of man - so that with a conscious study of his falling away from God or disunity him with God and at the same time God’s tireless attraction of him to Himself to learn to direct oneself to return to the lost paradise - the eternal Kingdom of one’s Heavenly Father.

Coming from other worlds

The most controversial is the hypothesis about the alien origin of people. But, nevertheless, many scientists are inclined to believe that man appeared from another universe. In their opinion, people in their development have really gone from Dryopithecus to Homo sapiens. But humans and apes had no common ancestors. Once on Earth, Dryopithecus began to adapt to the conditions of the planet, which was the reason for its development. Based on these statements, the first people who can be considered the ancestors of modern humanity appeared about 10 million years ago.

Each of the above hypotheses has a number of gaps, which casts doubt on their truth. The only thing we can say with confidence is that the first man appeared on earth millions of years ago, and many generations passed until people reached the modern level of development.

Evolution that gave life

According to scientists, primates are the direct ancestors of humans. Apes evolved by adapting to changes in the external environment, which became the impetus for their mental and physical development. The Earth's climate was changing, which forced primates to look for the first shelters that protected from wind and cold, to obtain food, creating adaptations for hunting and cultivating the land.

Since it was quite difficult to obtain food alone, great apes gathered in groups. Thanks to this, communication began to develop and the first speech appeared. All these factors caused changes in the anatomy and physiology of primates, which became decisive in the emergence of humans:

  • the structure of the brain was transformed;
  • bipedal locomotion developed;
  • a significant part of the hairline has disappeared;
  • the fangs have decreased in size;
  • a grasping hand has developed;
  • the larynx and hyoid bone dropped.

Where did the first man appear?

Despite the capabilities of modern science, it has not been possible to reliably determine where human life originated. Many are inclined to the theory that primitive people inhabited Africa. It was on this continent that archaeologists managed to find the oldest remains of representatives of the species Homo habilis, which gave birth to Homo sapiens. The age of the finds was about 1.5 million years.

This theory was challenged by Russian scientists who discovered the remains of ancient people in Yakutia, which are more than 2.5 million years old. Excavations in the area were carried out in 1982. Tools and remains of the first people were found here, which are a million years older than the finds discovered in Africa. Based on the discoveries made by archaeologists, we can come to the conclusion that the first people appeared about 2.5 million years ago. It can also be argued that the cradle of modern humanity is Asia.

God created woman.

When God created man, he decided to create him a helper and partner. He created Eve from Adam's rib. Why was woman created from a rib? This was done in such a way that there would be no doubt that a woman is of the same nature and essence as a man and therefore there will always be cooperation and love between them. A man completes a woman, and a woman completes a man; both complement each other. They do not live alone, but together. A woman is neither inferior to a man nor superior to him. She is flesh of his flesh. Woman is equal to man, this is how human nature was established by God.

All people are descendants of Adam and Eve. This seems strange, especially when you remember that there are several races and many languages. Even after the Great Flood, during the time of Noah,

The whole earth had one language and one dialect. (Genesis chapter 11)

This means that there was one race of people on earth, and that they all spoke the same language. Then what happened? How were we fragmented? People have multiplied. They became proud and stopped respecting God. They decided to build the Tower of Babel, not for the glory of God, but for their own glory.

God came down and confused their languages - and the people divided into nations and settled throughout the earth. Living in different climatic conditions, they changed in appearance. However, we should not forget that all people descend from one ancestor, Adam, from one couple, Adam and Eve. From one blood. Apostle Paul in Acts:

From one blood He brought forth the entire human race to inhabit the whole face of the earth, having appointed predetermined times and limits for their habitation (Acts of the Holy Apostles, chapter 7)

God created man in his own image.

When God created man, He said:

Let us make man in Our image [and] after Our likeness (Genesis, chapter 1)

But what does it mean for us to be created in the image and likeness of God? Being created in the image does not mean being similar in appearance. God has nothing to do with the material body. In the image of God means that we are sovereign and independent. That is, we have freedom of choice. Without freedom of choice, a person would not be perfect.

“Similarity” is an image in action, it is the use of a person’s free will in order to morally improve oneself. This is a movement towards holiness and perfection.

To be created in the image and likeness of God means to have the necessary personality qualities, intellect and intelligence, sensuality and feeling, and will, that is, the ability to make moral choices. These qualities do not exist in other creatures. They allow a person to communicate with God, as well as to be morally responsible for his actions.

The first chapter of Genesis gives us an idea of the creation of all things, including man. But man is so important that the second chapter of Genesis focuses on additional information about the creation of mankind.

That man was someone special to God is evidenced by the fact that God created a house for man:

And the Lord God planted a paradise in Eden in the east (Book of Genesis, chapter 2)

You should pay attention to God’s special care for man; he did not create a garden for man, but planted it, and made efforts to make man feel good. God showed personal concern for man.

According to the Bible, the first man was perfect, created in the image of God.

God Almighty agreed to share with man dominion and power over the animal world.

God endowed man with some of his divine attributes, thereby separating and distinguishing him from beasts. What special Divine qualities did man receive? There are six of them:

  • language,
  • creation,
  • Love,
  • holiness,
  • immortality,
  • Liberty.

When did the very first man appear?

Our most ancient ancestors are the great apes Dryopithecus. They lived in Africa more than 9 million years ago. Primates lived in trees, since at that time a warm, humid climate reigned in the region of this continent. Due to changes in the external environment, the jungle began to disappear, and in its place savannas appeared, in which a new species of primates emerged - Australopithecus. They were not very different from their ancestors, but they already moved vertically, and with their freed forelimbs they used sticks and stones if necessary.

Anthropologists who discovered the remains of Australopithecus found that this species of primate lived on Earth about 4 million years ago. It was also found that the species of Homo habilis, who lived on the planet about 2 million years ago, comes from them, the representatives of which can already be considered human. Their height reached 1.5 meters, and their weight was up to 50 kg. The structure of the found skull of Homo habilis indicates that the brain of these individuals was significantly increased in comparison with Australopithecus, which indicates an increase in their mental development. Special bulges on the skull confirm that representatives of the Homo habilis species had a speech center.

After 0.5 million years, the species of Homo habilis transformed into Homo erectus. According to scientists, representatives of this species already knew how to speak clearly. From Africa they spread across Eurasia, which gave rise to the formation of separate races.

The highest creation of a deity?

A huge part of the population is inclined to believe that man is the creation of God. Proponents of this hypothesis emphasize that the human body is very complex and perfect, and only divine power could create it. As described in the book of Genesis, God created the planet with all the creatures that inhabit it. The crown of his creation was a man created from dust, named Adam. In order for the human race to continue, the first man was given a companion named Eve, created from his own rib.

God also failed to determine the time when the first people were created. The Bible is interpreted differently by many. Proponents of the divine origin of people argue that in fact the description that the world was created in seven days should not be taken literally. In their opinion, the creation of the Universe and the Earth lasted much longer, which explains the origin of the antiquities found by archaeologists.
