Basic rules of fasting
Prayer, both at home and in church, takes on important significance during the Dormition Fast. On special days, churches are filled with bright services. Passionate prayers of repentance will not leave any saint indifferent, especially when it comes to the Mother of God. Therefore, from August 14 to August 27, 2022, try to go to church as often as possible.
During the two weeks of abstinence, it is important to be especially careful in expressing your emotions in order to keep your life quiet and happy, and your heart kind and open to the Lord. The righteous, meek Reverend Mother of God is an example of true love and humility. She showed that the words coming from the mouth are intended to glorify God, helping family and friends with His help.
It is important to correctly determine the measure of fasting. If you are just taking your first steps, you should not start fasting to the fullest extent of the regulations. Excessive zeal is no less harmful than complete renunciation. A priest or more experienced Orthodox people will help you decide on the measure.
Intercession Parents' Saturday: what not to do on October 9
Orthodox priests say that following popular superstitions is a sin. One of the most common is considered to be “feeding the dead.” People brought drinks and food (usually sweets) to the graves. Some completely buried bread or the remains of other food in the ground.
However, the list of prohibitions does not end there:

Do not look at any of the mirror shards under any circumstances.
