Krasnodar is not only a bustling city with offices and shopping centers. There are corners here where the usual bustle disappears and is replaced by peace and tranquility. Today, the Kuban capital sparkles with the gold domes of beautiful churches with different histories and unusual architecture, in the list of which the Temple of the Holy Spirit occupies an important place. In Krasnodar he is one of the most revered.
Historical events
The Temple of the Holy Spirit in Krasnodar was originally located in one of the multi-story buildings. When it first opened in 1993, it was attended by a small number of Christians who faced many problems in holding services. For example, the clergy did not have a sufficient amount of liturgical literature and icons.
Sergiy Lopasov is the first rector of the Krasnodar Church of the Holy Spirit. Thanks to his efforts, the number of parishioners began to increase, and as a result, the community was able to purchase temporary premises for church services. At the same time, a project for a permanent stone temple was being developed.
The Temple of the Holy Spirit in Krasnodar is one of the most modern churches. In March 2000, preparation of the site for the future temple was completed. On April 16, a stone slab was laid at the site of the church foundation. Since the same year, divine services have been held daily.
In the fall of 2007, the installation of small domes took place, and the following year the main dome of the Church of the Holy Spirit was installed. Since 2005, every year the community has been walking around all the streets of one of the microdistricts, singing prayers and icons. Many parishioners take part in this event, and residents of the neighborhood evaluate this event positively.
The Temple of the Holy Spirit in Krasnodar is one of the modern cathedrals of Krasnodar. In 2011, the Bishop of Yeisk consecrated the lower chapel of the church. The main chapel was consecrated that same year, in the fall. Several representatives of the Krasnodar clergy took part in the consecration.
Krasnodar Church of the Nativity
The organization of the Church of the Nativity of Christ began in the 80s of the last century. In 1994, builders completed the lower aisle, where the first service was held. In November 1999, the improvement of the temple was finally completed. The main shrines of the cathedral: the miraculous icon of the Mother of God “Vsetsaritsa”, pieces of the relics of 21 saints of the Lord, and so on. The temple is located at: Rozhdestvenskaya embankment, building 1.
Architecture, appearance
The Temple of the Holy Spirit in Krasnodar is one of the Krasnodar churches, during the construction of which brick was used. It was later plastered and painted white. 6 domes were installed on it, 1 of which is crowned by an altar ledge on the eastern part of the building. The roof of the building is painted in green shades.
You can get to the upper aisle by steps. The entrance to the church is the bell tower, which is connected to the church building by a passage with a roof.
Alexander Nevsky Cathedral
This is the main cathedral of Krasnodar. Construction was completed in 1872. The temple was built in the Russian-Byzantine style. It contained many relics of the Kuban Cossacks. After the arrival of the Bolsheviks, a museum of atheism was set up inside the building. And in 1932 the cathedral was blown up. In 2003, the governor of the Krasnodar region A. N. Tkachev decided to restore the temple. In 2006, the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral was restored. Now it is located on Krasnaya Street, in the city center.
Interior decoration, shrines
Krasnodar artisans were involved in decorating the interior. They carved iconostasis, lecterns and icon cases. The walls were decorated with paintings. Wooden icon cases adorn the walls of the Holy Spirit Church.
The Temple of the Holy Spirit in Krasnodar is a church with many unusual shrines.
Thus, believers venerate the following shrines:
- icon of the Mother of God “Right Hand”;
- particles of the relics of the saints: Archdeacon Stefan, Herman and Savvaty of Solovetsky, Prince Roman of Uglich, Euphrosyne of Polotsk, George (Tutaev), Prince Konstantin of Yaroslavl, Prince Vasily of Yaroslavl, St. Luke of Voino-Yasenetsky, Princess Elizabeth, Peter and Fevronia of Murom;
- icon of St. Demetrius of Rostov and a particle of relics;
The image of the Mother of God “Right-Handed” is interesting because the Infant Christ is located in the right hand of the Mother of God. Initially, this image was dim, the facial features of the Virgin Mary and Christ were distorted by blackness. But over time, the icon was miraculously renewed - all the blackness that covered both the icon itself and the setting disappeared.
Also, the lamp, which was extinguished by church employees, turned out to be lit, although no one approached or touched it.
Prayer before the icon of the Mother of God could help in solving problems and healing from illnesses. Those whom the Mother of God helped, and those who are trying to get help, give flowers and decorations to the temple. Metropolitan Isidore gave his blessing to write an akathist and troparion to this icon. Church officials collect all evidence of help for those praying. From all the evidence received, it is planned to publish a brochure.
Interesting facts and legends
The church operates a Sunday school for children and adults. From 7 to 16 years old, children can attend classes at school. Classes will begin in mid-September and will be held on weekends. There will be a meeting before the start of classes.
Adults can also attend Sunday school. It has been open since 1998. School students become involved in church life, participate in divine services and learn the basics of Orthodox doctrine. Since many adults did not receive enough information about Orthodoxy as children, Sunday school lessons help parishioners fill in these gaps.
The format of the lessons is as follows: at the beginning of the lesson, an analysis of a certain topic is given, and after that a discussion of issues related to it begins. Classes are held on Sundays in the clergy building.
Parishioners and anyone interested can sign up for the library of the Church of the Holy Spirit. It has been operating since 1998, and the library collection is regularly updated. The temple website also provides information about new additions to the library.

The Temple of the Holy Spirit also conducts social service - the clergy and parishioners visit hospitals, hospices and rehabilitation centers in Krasnodar. When visiting these institutions, they try to tell others about faith. Once in the hospital, many people begin to become interested in religion and pray. In Christianity they are trying to find support and help in the fight against the disease.
On Easter, Christmas and great holidays, clergy visit schools and kindergartens. They talk about why these church holidays play a big role in the life of a Christian. Parishioners also take part in charity events and help people with alcohol or drug addiction.
There is a youth center at this church. All participants of the center communicate closely with each other: they go on hikes and have picnics. Young parishioners help organize worship services: they decorate the church building for the holiday, clean the area, and prepare food in the refectory.
In addition, participants of the youth center take part in creative competitions, for example, in Easter matinees. Young parishioners can help the clergy during services: men help during services in the altar, and girls can participate as a reader or bell ringer.
Founding of the monastery

And in the future the building will be called the Church of the Nativity. Krasnodar will welcome everyone who wants to visit this famous monastery.
Already in the mid-nineteenth century, the farmstead began to be rebuilt. A chapel, a prayer house, a rector's house and two brick buildings were erected here; there were even outbuildings here. The territory of the farmstead itself began to be decorated with an orchard.
