PRAYER OF ST. IGNATIUS BRYANCHANINOV FOR DELIVERY FROM POVERTY
Lord, You visit and accept sinners! And you raise the dead! And you command the waters of the sea, the winds of the sky! And the loaves grow miraculously in Your hands, giving a thousand-fold harvest - they are sown, reaped, baked and broken at the same time, in one instant! And You hunger to deliver us from famine! And You long for our thirst to go away! And you travel through the country of our exile, straining Yourself to return to us the calm, heavenly nature filled with sweets that we have lost! You shed Your sweat in the Garden of Gethsemane, so that we stop shedding our sweat in obtaining bread, and learn to shed it in prayers for worthy communion of the Heavenly Bread. The thorns that the cursed earth produced for us, You took upon Your head; Thou hast crowned and bruised Thy most holy head with thorns! We have lost the heavenly tree of life and its fruit, which imparted immortality to those who ate it. You, prostrate on the tree of the cross, became for us the fruit that bestows eternal life on your partakers. Both the fruit of life and the tree of life appeared on earth in the camp of our exile. This fruit and this tree are superior to those of paradise: they imparted immortality, and these communicated immortality and Divinity. Through Your suffering You have poured sweetness into our suffering. We reject earthly pleasures, we choose suffering as our lot, just to become partakers of Your sweetness! It is like a foretaste of eternal life, sweeter and more precious than temporary life! You fell asleep in the sleep of death, which could not keep You in eternal sleep. You - God! You rose up and gave us excitement from this dream, from the cruel sleep of death, gave us a blessed and glorious resurrection! You raised our renewed nature to heaven, and planted it at the right hand of the eternal, co-eternal with you, your Father! Our Lord! Grant us both on earth and in heaven to glorify, bless, and praise Your goodness! Grant us with a frank face to behold Your terrible, unapproachable, magnificent Glory, to behold It forever, to worship It and bliss in It. Amen. PRAYER FOR MONEY TO ST. JOHN THE MERCIFUL
Saint John of God, merciful protector of the orphans and those in adversity! We resort to you and pray to you, as the quick patron of all who seek consolation from God in troubles and sorrows. Don’t stop praying to the Lord for everyone who flows to you with faith! You, filled with Christ’s love and goodness, have appeared as a wonderful palace of the virtue of mercy and have acquired for yourself the name “merciful.” You were like a river, constantly flowing with generous mercies and abundantly watering all those who thirst. We believe that after you moved from earth to heaven, the gift of sowing grace increased in you and that you became an inexhaustible vessel of all goodness. By your intercession and intercession before God, create “all kinds of joy,” so that those who come running to you may find peace and tranquility: grant them consolation in temporary sorrows and help in the needs of everyday life, instill in them the hope of eternal peace in the Kingdom of Heaven. In your life on earth, you were a refuge for everyone in every trouble and need, for the offended and ailing; not a single one of those who came to you and asked you for mercy was deprived of your grace. Likewise now, reigning with Christ in heaven, show all those who worship before your honest icon and pray for help and intercession. Not only did you yourself show mercy to the helpless, but you also raised the hearts of others to the consolation of the weak and to the charity of the needy. Move even now the hearts of the faithful to intercede for the orphans, comfort the mourners and reassure the needy. May the gifts of mercy not become scarce in them, and moreover, may peace and joy in the Holy Spirit rejoice in them and in this house, which watches over the suffering, to the glory of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, forever and ever. Amen.
IF YOU DON'T HAVE MONEY, PAY FOR AN APARTMENT For help in need, Christians have long offered prayers to Righteous Philaret the Merciful .
In the morning, when you get out of bed, read the prayer words in front of the holy image and cross yourself three times. Take a long thin ribbon of paper and write this troparion on it in a line. Roll the tape into a tube and put it in your inner pocket, carry it with you until the problem is resolved, and then burn the paper and scatter the ashes to the wind.
Troparion, tone 8 In your patience you gained your reward, righteous, and you lived perfectly in the commandments of the Lord, you loved the poor and pleased them, but prayed to Christ our God, blessed, to save our souls. PRAYER TO THE HOLY BLESSED MATRONA OF MOSCOW FOR THE PURCHASE OF A HOUSE OR A ROOF OVER YOUR HEAD
O blessed mother Matrono, hear and accept us now, sinners, praying to you, who in all your life has learned to receive and listen to all those who suffer and mourn with faith and hope to your intercession and help, giving quick help and miraculous healing to everyone, but not and now your mercy towards us, unworthy, restless in this busy world and nowhere finding consolation and compassion in spiritual sorrows and help in bodily illnesses, will become scarce, heal our illnesses, deliver us from the temptations and torment of the devil, passionately fighting, help us carry our everyday Cross, bear all the hardships of life and not lose the image of God in it, preserve the Orthodox faith until the end of our days, have strong trust and hope in God and unfeigned love for our neighbors, so that after leaving this life, help us to achieve the Kingdom of Heaven with all those who please God, glorifying the mercy and goodness of the Heavenly Father, glorified in the Trinity: Father and Son and Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen. PRAYER TO ST. BASIL THE GREAT FOR SUCCESS IN BUSINESS
O great saint Basil the Great! You have received many and varied gifts from the Lord, and like a good and faithful servant, you have multiplied all the talents given to you for good: for this reason, you were truly a universal teacher, as every age and every rank comes from you. Behold, you appeared as an image of obedience to the youth, a luminary of chastity to the young, a mentor of hard work to the husband, a teacher of kindness to the old, a teacher of kindness to the monk, a rule of abstinence to those who pray, an inspired leader from God to those who have wisdom, an illuminator of the mind to those who have good words, the words of a living source are inexhaustible, to those who do good. - a star of mercy, to those in command - an image of righteous rule, a zealot of truth - an inspirer of boldness, an instructor of truth for the persecuted - patience: you were all, and you saved everyone. Over all of these you have acquired love, which is the basis of perfection, and with that, as if by the power of the Divine, you have united all the gifts in your soul into one, and the reconciling love shared here, in the interpretation of the words of the apostles, you preached to all the faithful. We are sinners, each one of us has his own gift, we are not imams of the unity of spirit into a union of peace, but we are vain, irritating each other, envious of each other: for this reason, our division, divided not into peace and salvation, but into enmity and condemnation, has turned over to us. Moreover, we fall to you, the saint of God, overwhelmed by discord, and in contrition of heart we ask: with your prayers drive away from our hearts all pride and envy that divides us, so that in many places we may remain one church body without restraint, and according to your prayerful words we will love each other and with one mind and confession of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, the Trinity, Consubstantial and Indivisible, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen. PRAYER TO THE GUARDIAN ANGEL FOR PROSPERITY OF BUSINESS
Lord have mercy! Lord have mercy! Lord have mercy! Crossing my forehead with the holy sign of the cross, I am a servant of God, I give praise to the Lord and I pray to my holy angel for help. Holy angel, stand before me in this day and in the day to come! Be my assistant in my affairs. Yes, in no way will I anger God! But I will glorify him! May you show me worthy of the goodness of our Lord! Give me, angel, your help in my work, so that I can work for the good of man and for the glory of the Lord! Help me to be very strong against my enemy and the enemy of the human race. Help me, angel, to fulfill the will of the Lord and to be in harmony with the servants of God. Help me, angel, to carry out my work for the good of the people of the Lord and for the glory of the Lord. Help me, angel, to stand my ground for the good of the people of the Lord and for the glory of the Lord. Help me, angel, to prosper my work for the good of the people of the Lord and for the glory of the Lord! Amen.
PRAYER TO ST. SPYRIDON OF TRIMYPHUNS, GIVING A SERIOUS, POOR-FREE EXISTENCE
O all-blessed Saint Spyridon, great servant of Christ and glorious miracle worker! Stand in heaven before the Throne of God with the face of an Angel, look with your merciful eye on the people (names) coming here and asking for your strong help. Pray to the compassion of God, the Lover of Mankind, not to judge us according to our iniquities, but to deal with us according to His mercy! Ask us from Christ and our God for a peaceful and serene life, mental and physical health, earthly prosperity and all abundance and prosperity in everything, and may we not turn the good things given to us from the generous God into evil, but into His glory and glorification your intercession! Deliver everyone who comes to God with undoubted faith from all spiritual and physical troubles, from all yearnings and the devil’s slander! Be a comforter to the sad, a physician to the sick, a helper in times of adversity, a protector to the naked, a protector to widows, a protector to the orphans, a nourisher to the baby, a strengthener to the old, a wandering guide, a sailing helmsman, and intercede to everyone who requires your strong help, whatever is useful for salvation! For if we are guided and observed by your prayers, we will reach eternal rest and together with you we will glorify God, glorified in the Trinity of Saints, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Prayer to John the Merciful for money and prosperity
In order to receive support and assistance in the financial sphere, you simply need to contact the Saint directly. The canonical prayer does not contain requests for money. And this is understandable, because it is understood that the help of John the Merciful will relate specifically to the financial sphere.
Christians believe that proof of the truth of faith is repentance for a person’s sins and subsequent abstinence from them. All the most terrible mortal sins are listed in the Gospel. The Christian must strive to overcome them. This will be a guarantee that the prayer to John the Merciful will be heard. In addition, you can increase the effectiveness of prayer to the Saint by observing strict fasting.
The text of the prayer reads as follows:
“Protector of God, Merciful Saint John, you are the protector of orphans, the poor and other needy people. We turn to you with sincere faith and humility, fall with reverence at your feet and offer prayer. We know and believe that you hear all those who ask you and give them consolation in sorrows and spiritual sorrow. We ask you to pray for us before the Almighty Lord. You are endowed with the mercy of God and were called to show yourself in worldly life as a model of mercy. Your goodness is like a river that quenches the thirst of all those in need, but at the same time never becomes shallow. We believe that your vessel of mercy will also be inexhaustible. We ask with trepidation to grant everyone who comes running to you consolation in grief and sorrow, peace and serenity in their souls. We ask you to give us hope for eternal peace in the Kingdom of Heaven after death. May we live in peace and joy for the Glory of the Lord Almighty. Amen".
Reading rules
You can find support and help by praying in front of the image of God's saint in church or privately. It is necessary to light a candle or lamp in front of the icon. Prayer must come from the heart, imbued with sincere faith. At home, it can be difficult to tune in to such prayer. The Holy Fathers advise reading “Our Father” several times in an undertone before any prayer.
The sacred text will calm you down and help you take your mind off current problems. A believer must remember that he should not hold evil and anger towards other people in his thoughts. They will block the channel of communication with the Heavenly patron, and the prayer will not reach the saint. Before and after reading the prayer, make the sign of the cross and bow. You can read the prayer to John the Merciful from memory or from a prayer book.
Why do the laity appeal to the face of this Saint for financial assistance?
People call on Saint John the Merciful with prayers for financial well-being, because during his life he paid great attention to the material sphere of human life and tried to help everyone in need. And after his death, the Saint certainly hears everyone who sincerely asks him for help.
There is a parable that explains the power of the prayer of St. John the Merciful. The Saint’s childhood passed comfortably; he was surrounded by the love and care of loved ones. But at the age of fifteen he saw the providence of God and came to the understanding that he should definitely give alms to the needy and make donations. Since then, he has constantly experienced the beneficial power of God's providence. It always happened in life that as soon as John gave something, much more grace came to him.
Prayer to Saint John the Merciful has great power and allows you to get rid of poverty forever and gain prosperity in life. But prayer words should be said with sincere faith in the soul.
What do they pray to the saint for?

- about conceiving a child;
- healing from illness;
- returning a stolen item;

The warriors of the Fatherland, who were about to meet the enemy in battle, turned to John the Merciful in prayer.
A little history about St. John the Merciful
Very little detailed information has been preserved about the life of St. John the Merciful. All that is known is that he was born and lived in the 4th century in Cyprus in a prosperous, wealthy family. He was a godly family man. He had several children. But grief happened, and this man lost his entire family. After this, John comes to the Christian faith and becomes a preacher. He leads a strict lifestyle, fasting often and praying constantly.
The Saint became famous for his spiritual exploits during his lifetime. When the influence of the patriarchal see weakened in Alexandria, the emperor and the clergy asked John to become patriarch. The saint honestly and worthily served the church all his life, devoted a lot of time to the moral and dogmatic education of his flock, and fought against heresy. At the very beginning of his ministry, the patriarch ordered a count of all the poor in the city and organized free food for them. The saint never refused to help people in need. He made it his duty to visit the porch once a week. There he listened to the poor and helped them solve everyday problems. After the death of the Saint, his soul was taken to heaven by the Lord God. Since then, he has been helping people with serious life problems.

Iconography
On icons the saint is depicted as a venerable old man with a beard in the robes of a patriarch. The face of the saint is full of kindness and compassion. In one hand is the Holy Scripture, the second is raised in a blessing gesture.
Icon painters also do not forget what constituted the main glory of the saint - mercy and help to people. On icons, the patriarch is often depicted giving alms, surrounded by kneeling people and holding a wallet in his hands.
John the Merciful loses his family and becomes a righteous man
The life of John should not be called simple and happy. He was born around 660 AD into a non-poor family. The saint's father, Epiphanius, served as governor on the Greek island of Cyprus.
John's hometown was Amafunt, now Limassol. Thanks to his nobility and wealth, he received an excellent education, learning to read and write and languages.
Saint John lived to be approximately 60 years old.
Very quickly John got married and had children. At that time, he did not even think about a church career. However, life is unpredictable and the wife and children die tragically. The saint remains alone. Grief did not break him, he stopped leading an idle lifestyle and began helping the poor and needy.
Even during this period of his life, he did not think about accepting any church rank. Meanwhile, John's fame as a kind and sympathetic person spread throughout the city of Alexandria.
When the time came to choose a new patriarch of this city, the residents insisted that John take this post. Following the lead of the townspeople, Emperor Heraclius personally approved him for the post of Patriarch of Alexandria.
Canonical image of John the Merciful. The saint is depicted with a wise look and a thick beard; the Gospel is certainly present in his hands
In 610, Saint John officially became Patriarch of Alexandria. On this occasion, he personally counted all the poor people of the city and divided his wealth equally among them. In addition, he sent part of his money in the form of alms to the Holy Sepulcher.
John the Merciful did not stop there; the saint gave shelter to everyone who needed shelter. He often fed the poor and made their lives easier. But John is not only famous for this; throughout his time as Patriarch, he fought with the followers of Monophysitism.
Monophysitism is a movement in Christianity that claims that there is only one Divine nature.
Death overtook the saint in his hometown of Anafunta, where he stopped on his way to Constantinople. There he went to ask for the emperor's help in defending Alexandria from the Persian conquerors. The exact date of death has not been established, presumably 619 - 620 AD.
John of Alexandria is canonized, and his relics are dispersed throughout Europe.
The canonization of Saint John the Merciful occurred almost immediately after his repose. Already in the 7th century, Leontius of Neopolitan wrote the first life of the saint.
Another theologian Metaphras describes in his works the miracles performed by the relics of John. Initially they were kept in Constantinople, but then they were scattered throughout Europe.
The following places of storage of the saint’s relics are officially known:
- in the middle of the thirteenth century, a particle of the relics was transported to Venice;
- another part went to Budapest in the fifteenth century, and then ended up in Bratislava;
- There are relics of John in the Athonite monasteries: Karakal, Dinosiate, Dohiara, Vatopedi and Pantokrator.
The official day of remembrance of St. John in the Orthodox Church is November 25. According to the old style - November 12. It is believed that it was on this day that he died.
Reverence
The Orthodox Church glorifies John the Merciful in the person of the saint. Memorial Day is celebrated on November 25th.
The reliquary with the relics was transferred from the saint’s burial place in Cyprus to Constantinople. At the beginning of the 13th century, Novgorod Archbishop Anthony bowed to them during a pilgrimage. A few years later, part of the relics were separated and transferred to Italy (Venice). Over time, the shrine was divided and transported to the temples of the Christian world for worship.
The relics of the saint can be venerated in the following churches:
- Church of the Great Martyr Catherine on Vspolye (Moscow);
- St. Martin's Cathedral (Bratislava);
- Church of the Holy Sepulcher (Jerusalem);
- monasteries on Mount Athos.
Simeon Metaphrastus collected evidence of many miracles revealed by the relics of the saint.
