It's not about the organ, but about the core of the soul
I think that a person who reads this commandment will have various questions, in particular, what kind of heart are we talking about? How to make it clean? Why is purity of heart important, not soul? How and in what way will the pure in heart see God? Trying to understand them, let's turn to the experience of the holy fathers. They claim that the Lord spoke about the heart and not the soul for a reason.
This word has the same meaning as “core”, “middle”. It is from this core that all our thoughts, all the movements of our soul are born. Just as a tree can be outwardly healthy and undamaged, but rotten inside, so a person, outwardly pleasant and positive, can turn out to be internally corrupt and entrenched in sin. Everything depends on the condition of the core. A rotten tree will perish, just as a person whose heart will be infected with spiritual rot will perish spiritually. Everything comes from the heart as the center of our soul, its focus - this is exactly what the Lord meant when he said: “It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth defiles a person” (Matthew 15: eleven).
How to recover from binge drinking at home
Of course, turning to a narcologist in such a situation would be the best solution, but there are times when this cannot be done. You can alleviate the condition of the house if the binge was short-lived and you adhere to certain rules:
- Drink plenty of water and simple drinks.
- Monitor blood pressure and take antihypertensive medications as prescribed by your doctor.
- Take vitamin and mineral complexes.
- Adequate sleep of at least 8-9 hours.
- Walks in the fresh air, feasible physical activity.
- 7-10 days after you start to break out of the binge, take a contrast shower.
- Avoid heavy foods, include high-fiber foods in your diet, and organize smaller meals.
- Before going to bed, drink soothing infusions of valerian, motherwort, and mint.
Additionally, you need to have a consultation and prescription from a doctor so that recovery at home is as effective and harmless to health as possible.
What does it mean to be “pure of heart”?
We will answer this question by understanding the opposite states. An angry, lustful, obstinate, envious, murmuring, touchy heart cannot be pure. These are its antipodes. A person can outwardly do the right thing: not quarrel with anyone, give alms, go to church, perform some kind of obedience. In appearance he will be decent and even spiritual. But if anger, lust, obstinacy, envy and other sinful desires are still swarming inside him, sooner or later they will come out and lead to his fall.

The liver takes the brunt of the damage and suffers the most from the consequences of heavy drinking.
There are general recommendations that will help restore normal liver function:

Why will the pure in heart see God?
God is Light, and the sinful qualities that I spoke about are all dirt, darkness. Light and darkness cannot have anything in common, so the Lord withdraws when such a clash occurs. We remember how in Psalm 50 King David laments that the Lord no longer speaks to him after his fall, and asks: “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me” (Ps. 50: 12). Only God can renew a person. And further the psalmist says: “You will not despise a broken and humble heart, O God” (Ps. 50:19). These words are very important for us because they explain how to cleanse our hearts.
We all understand that we do not see God every day - and therefore it is obvious that we do not have a pure heart. I think only babies have it - that is why the Lord said: “Truly I tell you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3). Children are pure in heart because it is open to them, they are not crafty, they are sincere, and they do not yet know how to lie.
You can make your heart pure only by opening it to God, exposing to the Sun of Truth everything that wears away our soul. This is why confession is needed. One of the saints said that even if we tell a person about our sins, this is already destructive for our bad habits. If we talk about them in confession, this is the most effective means available to us. The second most important means is the fight against sinful thoughts. It is clear that the enemy will strive to harm us in every possible way and instill unclean thoughts and desires. It’s difficult to resist them, but you have to try, understanding what the evil one is sowing.
All the beatitudes are interconnected, and therefore it is impossible to cleanse your heart without spiritual poverty. Man himself cannot do anything; for transformation he needs the help of God. Recognition of this is the spiritual poverty that the Lord speaks of in the first commandment. Only with God and the power of the grace of the Holy Spirit can we climb the steps of this ladder.
Kidney recovery after binge drinking
The kidneys suffer the most from the negative effects of binge alcoholism, because they remove alcohol breakdown products from the body.
The renal system pumps fluids containing organic and mineral elements through itself. Thanks to the filtration system of the kidneys, substances that are harmful and unnecessary for the body are eliminated from the body naturally. The remaining substances involved in the reabsorption process are returned to the blood.
One of the most dangerous products of ethanol breakdown is acetaldehyde, which reduces reabsorption within the kidneys. There are also generally accepted recommendations for restoring kidneys after binge drinking:

The Monk Simeon the New Theologian claims that this will not happen in the life of the next century, but when a person cleanses his heart, and for this it is not necessary to die.
