Like Your first martyr Stephen, / for those who kill him, we pray to Thee, O Lord, / and we desperately pray: / forgive those who hate everyone and those who offend us, / not one of them will perish for our sake, / but grace will save all Thy love, // All-Bountiful God .
Translation: Just as Your first martyr Stephen prayed to You for those who were killing him, O Lord, we too, falling down, pray: forgive those who hate everyone and offend us, so that not one of them will perish because of us, but all will be saved by Your grace, God is generous to everyone.

Why you need to pray for offenders and haters
The Gospel of Matthew quotes the words of Jesus, which contain the essence of Christian doctrine. The basis of the lifestyle of believers in Christ should be love. Jesus Christ taught to be merciful to your enemies: to forgive yourself and to pray to God to forgive those who hate and offend. Without this, it is impossible to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit and enter the Kingdom of Heaven after death.
All holy ascetics adhered to this rule. In biographies that have survived to this day, it is said that spiritual shepherds never held a grudge against their offenders and persecutors. Christian saints argued that anger and malice are not natural qualities of a person, but a temptation to sin from the Evil One.
Prayer requests will be heard by the Lord if the soul and thoughts of an Orthodox believer are freed from indignation and resentment at the unfair words and actions of other people. Reciprocal hatred corrodes the soul like rusting iron, putting a barrier to spiritual communication with Heavenly patrons.
Prayers help to overcome hostility towards those who offend and hate us:
- to the Lord;
- Mother of God;
- To the Holy Saints.
During her lifetime, the Mother of God was benevolent, patient with people, and prayed for sinners before Her Son. Appealing to the Heavenly Queen gives peace to the soul and softens the attitude towards people. Orthodox believers should not take lies, slander, and deception to heart. After praying to holy images, you must try to let go of the offense.
Having forgiven the offending or hating person in your soul, it is advisable to find a way to establish contact with him and reconcile. If this does not work out because of a negative reaction to the approach of a person who does not like you, then you should forget about him. Forgetting is the best way to get rid of hatred towards someone.
Forgiving offenders is an example of generosity that raises and maintains the moral state of a Christian.
A person who prays for those who hate him will have a more positive outlook on the world:
- will stop remembering words and actions that humiliate his pride;
- learn to be more tolerant of other people's shortcomings;
- will think more about good things.
Prayers for those who offend and hate us are read privately, in church. At home, before going to bed, the Lord is asked: “Forgive those who hate and offend us, Lord, Lover of Mankind.”
The ritual is explained by the fact that human life is in the hands of the Lord. No one knows when the soul will leave the mortal body. The prayer is said so that in the event of death during sleep, one does not leave the earthly world with grievances in the heart. The Lord will forgive our sins if we forgive them to others.

Oh, the long -suffering of the Mother of God, who exceeded all the dimers of the earth, by their purity and by many suffering, with the same on the lands of the transferred, the multi -shed eyes of the praying and preserving us under your crumb. Do You know no other refuge and warm intercession, but, as I have boldness in Him who was born of You, help and save us with Your prayers, so that we may without stumbling reach the Kingdom of Heaven Now, together with all the saints, we will sing praises to the One God in the Trinity, now and forever, and forever and ever. Amen.
Translation: O long-suffering Mother of God, who exceeds all the daughters of the earth, in Your purity and in the multitude of sufferings You endured on earth, accept our long-suffering groans and keep us under the shelter of Your mercy. Because we know no other refuge and ardent intercession besides You, but, as having the right to freely turn to the One who was born of You, help and save us with Your prayers, so that we may freely reach the Kingdom of Heaven, where with all the saints we will sing praises to the One God in the Trinity now and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Orthodox understanding of prayer
The Lord is perfect Love. Therefore, Christians, in order to gain the Kingdom of Heaven, strive to imitate Christ with their lives and love for their neighbors. To do this, it is important for the believer to be in constant communication with his Creator. Prayer is a conversation with God.
However, you should not perceive prayer as some kind of magical conspiracy. By themselves, even the most correct words are not able to influence the minds and hearts of other people. Recitation of the text, not supported by spiritual strength, is not capable of replacing hatred with love. True prayer for those who offend and hate does not have personal demands and orders. This is a prayer, a request from the Merciful Lord to protect from anger and malice from the enemy of the entire human race - the devil, and to enlighten and save people.
“Love for one’s neighbor and service to the good of one’s neighbor in the name of this love is the most important moral duty of a Christian, and only the one who lays down his life for his friend will save it. Prayer for others, to feel pain in your soul for the sins of people and to pray for them with love is a sacrifice that has no equal in the world. These are “the tears of a child,” as the poet says. This is the most holy contemplative love; he who does not love cannot pray!.. Love is the alpha and omega of our life; she is the soul of our soul” (Archpriest Nikolai Troitsky).

Prayer for forgiveness of sins for aborted children
Abortion is considered a terrible sin and a woman needs to pray for it for a long time. A prayer for forgiveness for the murder of an unborn baby is read for 40 days. It is important not to miss a single day. Before starting to pray, it is recommended to visit the temple, confess and repent before the priest. Prayer words should be said in front of the icon of the Mother of God and Savior. Sincere prayer will definitely be heard and God will remove your sin.
The prayer text reads as follows:
“Our Lord, Savior of the human race Jesus Christ! I ask You to hear my prayer and have mercy on me, Your sinful servant (my own name). Let me atone for my sins for the lives of unborn babies I ruined. I turn to Saint John the Baptist with a prayer, I ask you to baptize my children killed in my womb, not to leave them in darkness and to call them the names of the lambs of God, and then bring them into the Kingdom of God. I ask you to hear my prayer to Saint Barbara of the Great Martyrs and to commune the babies killed in my womb. Almighty Lord, do not leave me with my sin, deliver me, a mother who killed her children in her womb, from eternal torment, give me strength to bear the answer before the throne of the Lord. Lord, accept my sincere prayer of repentance, as I sincerely repent of my sin. I believe in Your goodness and mercy, Lord, and glorify all Your deeds. Amen".
