Strong prayer for the Ascension of the Lord for the fulfillment of a wish in Russian

The Ascension of the Lord is a holiday with a “floating” date, which always falls on Thursday. In Orthodox churches on this day, Easter services are read for the last time of the year, and in the evening they serve a solemn All-Night Vigil.

Christians around the world on the Ascension of the Lord, if possible, attend church twice - in the morning and in the evening, in order to defend both the last Easter service and the sermon in honor of the Ascension of the Savior, and the evening service ending with the All-Night Vigil. Also, Orthodox and Catholics on this holiday light candles in front of the icon, which depicts the Ascension of Jesus into heaven, and read a prayer for the Ascension of the Lord for the fulfillment of a wish.

Text of the prayer for the fulfillment of a wish for the Ascension

Immediately after Jesus ascended to heaven, angels descended to the apostles and said that the Savior did not need a body of flesh to hear the prayers and requests of his followers and to protect his flock from all evil. It is believed that the prayer for the Ascension of the Lord for the fulfillment of a desire has special power, and Christ and his angels will certainly help the one praying, but only if his desire is sincere and not aimed at causing harm to other people.

Here is the text of a strong prayer for the fulfillment of a wish for the Ascension in Russian. This prayer must be read before the icon of the Ascension of the Lord.

“Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God. Do not be angry at my heartfelt request, but do not refuse endless mercy. Bless me for the fulfillment of my desire and reject all the damn abysses. May all your plans come true now and forever and forever and ever. Amen"

history of the holiday

The history of the holiday helps us understand what the Ascension of the Lord means. It is connected with the events described in detail in the Gospel. According to contemporaries of this scripture, having risen from the dead, Jesus remained on earth next to the living for 40 days.

The Messiah spent time with the apostles, continuing to tell them about the essence of the Christian faith, conveying God's commandments to his disciples, and revealing the truth about the Kingdom of Heaven.

He told people to continue His mission, to baptize nations, to enlighten them. After this, Jesus went up the Mount of Olives. This important historical event took place in Jerusalem. The apostles accompanied Christ to the summit. They witnessed the Messiah rising into the air and his body heading towards the sky. This event not only impressed the students, it filled them with joy and made their souls rejoice.

The Son of God, having endured much torment, found peace and went to His Father to be reunited with Him. His ascension into Heaven has deep spiritual meaning for believers. The holiday reminds the laity of the invisible presence of the Lord in their lives. Deeply believing Christians feel His breath, the Holy Spirit. With His invisible hand, the Savior helps those who followed Him: He takes away troubles and adversity from them, rewards them for good deeds, and guides them on the true path.

A common belief is that the Ascension of the Lord is celebrated in the Orthodox Church on one day. But in reality I celebrate it for 10 days. This is easy to explain by turning to the same Gospel, which says that after 10 days the Holy Spirit descended on Earth. He was sent by the Almighty to help the disciples of Christ. The apostles received a gift from above. Using it, they continued to spread the good news, glorify His name, and preach Christianity. On the 10th day after the Ascension, Pentecost is celebrated in Orthodoxy.

Prayer to the Ascension of the Lord

“Lord Jesus Christ, our God, who came down from the Heavenly heights for our salvation and filled us with spiritual joy on the holy and bright days of Your Resurrection, and again, after the completion of Your earthly ministry, ascended from us into heaven with glory and is seated at the right hand of God and the Father! On this clear and all-bright day of Your Divine ascension into heaven, the earth celebrates and rejoices, and the sky also rejoices at the Ascension of the Creator of creation today, people glorify incessantly, seeing their lost and fallen nature on Your frame, the Savior, earthly and ascended to heaven, the Angels rejoice, saying: Who is this, who came in glory, mighty in battle, is this truly the King of Glory?! Grant us also the power of the weak, who are still wise on earth and to create unceasing carnal pleasures, Thy terrible rise into heaven with thoughts and celebrations, to put aside carnal and worldly cares and from Thy Apostles to heaven now look with all our hearts and with all our thoughts, remembering how there is a mountain in heaven Our residence is, but here on earth we are just strangers and aliens, having departed from the house of the Father to the faraway land of sin. For this reason, we earnestly ask Thee, by Thy glorious Ascension, O Lord, revive our conscience, even though there is nothing more necessary in the world, lead us out of the captivity of this sinful flesh and world and make us wise on a mountain, and not earthly, so that we will not please anyone and live, but we will serve You, the Lord and Our God, and we will work, until we have renounced the bonds of the flesh and gone through unrestrained airy ordeals, we will reach Your heavenly abodes, where, standing at the right hand of Your Majesty, with the Archangels and Angels and with all the saints we will glorify Your All-Holy Name with the Beginning Your Father and the Most Holy and Consubstantial and Life-Giving Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen."

Traditions and rituals of the holiday

The Ascension of the Lord in 2022 is celebrated, as usual, for 10 days. The day before, the church holds the last Easter rite, followed by an all-night vigil. This part of the service is characterized by the performance of proverbs and stichera, which are part of a book called “The Colored Triode.” The morning service is not complete without the Gospel of Mark.

The days of celebration are a period when worship services continue, during which Jesus is glorified as he ascended to Heaven after completing his mission on earth. On the seventh Friday after Easter, the Orthodox Church celebrates the Ascension of the Lord. At this time, as in previous days before the Resurrection of Christ, the clergy dresses in white festive attire.

In a number of regions, people hold memorial services for deceased loved ones. Rus' was characterized by the tradition of preparing funeral bread, which was also called the heavenly ladder. It was left on the graves of relatives so that they could quickly get to the gates of heaven. Those who did not have the opportunity to go to the cemetery left the bread in the field.

For the holiday they also prepared “Christ’s paws,” pancakes that the Savior could take with him “on the path.” The ritual of prayer was just as important for ancient Christians as it is for modern ones. For his sake, they canceled planned work. It was customary to meet friends, invite them to visit, and visit them on your own.

They couldn’t do without donations and help to the poor and needy. Beliefs say that Christ himself may be hiding among them in human form.

Sincere prayer for the Ascension of the Lord will be heard

On the Ascension of the Lord, it is customary to read prayers to strengthen faith and fortitude, as well as glorify Christ and ask for forgiveness for involuntary sins. But the prayer for the Ascension of the Lord for the fulfillment of a desire in front of the icon will also be heard by Christ and his angels, because the Savior loves all people and is ready to help everyone just as he helped during his earthly life. The main thing is to listen and read prayers with a pure heart and strong faith.

Iconography of the holiday

The Ascension Prayer, like others, is accepted in the Christian faith to be read in front of icons. Few people think about their symbolism.

The image of the Ascension of the Lord is written traditionally, based on the following rules:

  1. At the top they depict Jesus floating in the air, and at the bottom – the Mother of God, Christ’s disciples, and angels.
  2. It is no coincidence that the Virgin Mary is placed in the center, between the apostles; this is how the emphasis is placed on her important role in the implementation of God's plan, the Salvation of mankind, in the life of the modern Church. She is often depicted as Oranta: her hands are raised to the sky, spread wide, as if in prayer for people.
  3. Halos are not painted over the heads of Christ’s disciples, but they are often present above the head of the Mother of God. The fact that the apostles appear before man in this form indicates their expectation of the descent of the Holy Spirit; they are here earthly members of the Church, while the Virgin Mary is already in holiness. The Holy Spirit touched her on the Day of the Annunciation, when she became the mother of God-Man.
  4. Angels are written with halos. On some icons they point with their hands to the sky. This is a reference to Holy Scripture.
  5. Jesus hovering above is written in the cloud of Glory. This is a symbol of the blessing that He gives to His disciples and the Mother of God. This element is also interpreted as a blessing for the good deeds of those who turn to the Lord in front of the icon.
  6. Angels are often depicted next to the cloud of glory as His servants, sent by the Father to accompany His Son to Heaven.
  7. The fact that on a number of faces the Messiah is depicted on a smaller scale than his disciples and the Virgin Mary is not accidental. This technique is called direct perspective, which is uncharacteristic of traditional iconography. But with its help it is possible to emphasize that Jesus’ ascension to heaven was genuine.

Many parents ask what does it mean to be born on Ascension? The priests answer that there is no need to invent anything special. As usual, the child must be baptized when the time comes. Children born on major holidays are distinguished by excellent health, a bright mind, and throughout their lives they should carry goodness and purity.

Many believers are interested in what prayers to read from Easter to Ascension. During these 40 days, from April 8 to May 17, you need to read.

On Bright Week - the 1st week after Easter, they do not read morning and evening prayers, but read the Easter Hours, which are in most prayer books.

If you are preparing for communion, then instead of the penitential canon to the Lord and the canon to the Most Holy Theotokos, the canon of Easter and the Follow-up to Holy Communion are read.

All prayers must be preceded by reading the Easter troparion three times:

“Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and giving life to those in the tombs.”

Psalms and prayers, starting with the Trisagion (“Holy God…”) through “Our Father…”, as well as troparia after it, are not read at this time.
