In Church Slavonic with accents

Finally, a psalm to David

1 I trust in the Lord, as you say to my soul: fly through the mountains like a bird?

2 For behold, you sinners have laid your bow, preparing arrows in the tule to shoot in the darkness of the upright in heart.

3 What you have done, you have destroyed, but what have you done, the righteous? The Lord is in His holy temple.

4 Lord, His Throne is in Heaven, His eyes look upon the poor, His trust shall be tested by the sons of men.

5 The Lord will test the righteous and the wicked, but he who loves unrighteousness hates his own life.

6 It will rain upon sinners a snare, a fire and a bugbear, and a storm of spirit, part of their cup.

7 For the Lord is righteous, and He loves righteousness; His face is righteous.

In Russian

For execution. Psalm of David.

1 I trust in the Lord; How then do you say to my soul: “Fly away to your mountain like a bird”?

2 For behold, the wicked have drawn the bow, and have set their arrow to the string, to shoot in the darkness at the upright in heart.

3 For what You have made right, they have destroyed, but what has the righteous done? The Lord is in His holy temple,

4 The Lord, His throne is in heaven, His eyes look [on the poor]; His eyelids try the sons of men.

5 The Lord tests the righteous, but His soul hates the wicked and the violent.

6 He will rain burning coals, fire and brimstone on the wicked; and the scorching wind is their portion from the cup;

7 For the Lord is righteous, loving righteousness; He sees the righteous in His face.

Psalm about the faith of a righteous person and the punishment that awaits the wicked

The tenth Psalm of the Old Testament must be read by those whose life is like a test - a difficult life situation has arisen, perhaps one of their relatives or friends has fallen ill or found themselves in a difficult situation.
It would not hurt to become familiar with the Psalm for those who are far from fulfilling the will of God and His word. Because David is talking here about what will be the fate of every wicked person. What awaits the one who turns away from God and does not want to recognize His dominance and power. Each Psalm of the Bible is filled with praise and glorification of the Lord, so the words in them inspire the righteous to praise and worship God. It is believed that the Psalm was written by David when he was hiding from his son Absalom, who was very offended by his father and wanted to take his throne. The king was in a very difficult situation for him. A palace coup was brewing, which was supposed to decide the fate of David - he would die and his son Absalom would sit on the throne, or the throne would again be in the hands of David, but then his son would suffer. The king, of course, does not want Absalom to die, because he loves him. Despite the fact that he raised an uprising and staged a real revolution.

Interpretation of Psalm 10

  • Verses 1-3: All his life David trusted in the help of the Lord, Even now he cannot waver from his principle. He does not listen to the advice of friends, but only believes in the help of the Creator. Many turned away from the king, the political and social life of the state was ruined.
  • Verses 4-5: The Lord is the protector of all the righteous. He watches all people and sends them difficulties to strengthen their spirit and faith in him.
  • Verses 6-7: The Most High will rain down on the wicked, sending in burning lightning and coals. Adversity will strike the souls of sinners.

Detailed interpretation

The tenth Psalm of the Old Testament can be divided into 5 parts:

  1. David trusts in the Lord (verses 1 and 2)
  2. The king describes what his enemies did to catch him (verses 2 and 3)
  3. David sings about what the Lord is doing in this time of trouble and oppression (verses 4 and 5)
  4. It describes what awaits the wicked from God, what fate is prepared for him (verse 6)
  5. How the Lord treats the righteous (verse 7).

There is no such division in the Bible itself. It is made in order to highlight semantic parts for a deeper understanding of the content and its detailed study.

Part 1 – “In the Lord I Trust”

Verse 1

David sings the psalm in the presence of his choir director. The king is in difficult circumstances because he has to hide from his own eldest son. He held a grudge against David because the man did not judge fairly between him and Amnon (David's other son). David’s opponents decided to take advantage of this situation and split the kingdom - they began to persuade Absalom to rebel, commit a conspiracy and a coup.

Although initially he had no such intentions. He hid from David for a long time because he killed Amnon. But when he returned, David forgave him and let him into the palace. And everything seemed to work out. But God himself once told David that a sword would be raised in his house. This time came precisely when the king’s enemies managed to persuade Absalom to carry out a coup.

The king’s friends and assistants advised him to go to the mountains from his son, saying, “fly to your mountain like a bird,” but David did not want to do this, he trusted in God and waited for what the Lord would tell him in this situation. He was used to relying on God in everything.

Part 2 – “The Wicked Stretched the Bow”

Verses 2 and 3

David describes how his enemies behaved during that difficult time for the king. They are already fully armed and prepared for battle. They are not stopped by the fact that David has never lost a single battle. They are so confident in the strength of his young son Absalom that they are ready to destroy their own king in order to place on the throne someone who was not even his successor. Because God told David that the next king after him would be his youngest son Solomon, born to him from Bathsheba, whom he made his wife against the will of God.

That is why David is now in a situation where his own son rebelled against him - this was predicted by the Lord because David once killed Bathsheba’s husband in order to make her his wife. David grieves, asking his advisors what he should do. He is shocked by what happened, and feels as he says - “when the foundations are destroyed.” He believes that the ground has disappeared from under his feet, there is nothing on which to rely.

This outcome of the relationship with his son came as a surprise to him. He did not think that his enemies would be able to lure Absalom to their side and turn him against his own father. But the enemies knew Absalom’s weak point - the case when David was unable to punish Amnon for the rape he committed against Absalom’s sister Tamar. It was precisely by remembering this that the wicked quickly persuaded Absalom’s heart to take the throne from David and rule himself.

Part 3 – “The Lord tests the righteous”

Verse 4

David is confident that God is not indifferent at this time when he feels bad:

  • He is in his holy temple,
  • He looks at everything that happens on earth,
  • He tests his people - the righteous.

Therefore, he perceives the difficulties that David goes through as a test, because he knows that he deserves such a test. The king sinned and stumbled more than once. And the Lord, when forgiving, never leaves a person without punishment. You still have to answer for every action.

But the significant difference is whether a person trusts in God during the test or not. Sinners suffer from their own misdeeds and, when going through difficulties in their lives, do not always come to God for help. That is why it is difficult and sometimes unbearable for them to go through difficulties. The righteous man, although he is punished by the Lord, knows that he will pass the test with dignity, because God himself will support him at this time, guide and push him.

Parallel verse:

  • Hab 2:20 – God sits in His Holy Temple and before Him all who live on earth are silent.

Verse 5

David is confident that he is passing the test, but he also knows that he is loved by God. But regarding the wicked, he is sure that the Lord hates them. Not the people themselves who act vilely, but their actions, according to which they live. God's will is to save every person because He created everyone. But some people themselves choose a path for themselves that is opposite to the one that the Lord chose for them. By doing this, they bring upon themselves all sorts of troubles - fears, illnesses, difficulties. Because of this, God cannot pour out His love on them and support them in a difficult situation.

Part 4 – “He will rain down burning coals on the wicked”

Verse 6

David sings about the fate God has prepared for the wicked. The Lord has a cup prepared for them, which he will pour out on all who oppress the righteous and deliberately sin before Him. This bowl contains burning coals, sulfur, scorching wind and fire. The punishment is very severe, because the substances in the vessel incinerate, render into nothing what once existed, destroy and exterminate.

There are no parallel verses from the Word of God.

Part 5 – “For the Lord is righteous”

Verse 7

Why does the Lord do this to the wicked? David answers this question under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Because God is righteous and loves the righteous. He sees all people and especially pays His attention to those who are obedient to Him to help and support them in their time of need. In order for those punished by Him to be as few as possible, the Lord delays judgment, giving sinners a chance to repent. Then none of them will be able to tell the Lord that they did not have time to repent of their sins. Because it wouldn't be true. While there is time for reconciliation with the Lord, we need to take advantage of it.

KATHISMA TENTH.

Psalm 70.

The psalm to David, the sons of Jonadab and the first captives, is not written among the Jews.

1 In Thee, O Lord, have I trusted, that I may never be ashamed. 2 By Thy righteousness deliver me and save me; incline Thy ear to me and save me. 3 Be in God’s Protector and in the place of strong salvation for me, for You are my strength and my refuge. 4 My God, deliver me from the hand of the sinner, from the hand of the transgressor and the offender, 5 for You are my patience, O Lord, O Lord, my hope from my youth. 6 In You I was established from the womb, from my mother’s womb You are my protector: for You I will sing. 7 For a miracle has happened to many, and You are my strong helper. 8 May my lips be filled with praise, for I will sing of Your glory, Your splendor all day long. 9 Do not reject me in my old age, when my strength fails, do not forsake me. 10 Because they have decided to defeat me, and those who seek my soul have conferred together, 11 saying: God has left him to eat; marry and have him, for there is no deliverance. 12 My God, do not depart from me, my God, attend to my help. 13 Let those who slander my soul be ashamed and disappear; let those who seek to harm me be clothed with shame and shame. 14 But I will always trust in You and add to all Your praise. 15 My mouth will proclaim Your righteousness; Your salvation all day long, for I did not know the book. 16 I will go down in the power of the Lord, O Lord, I will remember righteousness to You alone. 17 My God, what You taught me from my youth, and to this day I will proclaim Your wonders, 18 And even to old age and old age, my God, do not forsake me, until I will proclaim Your strength. to all that is to come, 19 Thy power and Thy righteousness, O God , even to the highest, even you have created greatness for me. God, who is like You? 20 You showed me many tribulations and evils, and when you returned, you gave me life, and you brought me up from the depths of the earth. 21 Thou hast multiplied Thy majesty upon me, and by turning thou hast comforted me, and from the depths of the earth hast thou lifted me up again. 22 For I will confess to You among the people, O Lord; in the vessels of the psalms, O God, I will sing to You on the harp, O Holy One of Israel. 23 My lips will rejoice when I sing to You, and my soul, even though You have delivered. 24 Moreover, my tongue will learn Your righteousness all day long, while those who seek evil to me will be ashamed and put to shame.

Psalm 71.

About Solomon, psalm to David.

1 O God, give Thy judgment to the king, and Thy righteousness to the king's son: 2 Judge Thy people in righteousness, and Thy poor in judgment. 3 Let the mountains bring peace to the people, and the hills righteousness. 4 He judges the poor of men, and saves the sons of the needy, and humbles the slanderer. 5 And he will be with the sun, and before the moon there will be generations of generations. 6 It will fall like rain on the fleece, and like a drop falling on the ground. 7 In his days righteousness and much peace will shine until the moon is taken away. 8 And he possesses from sea to sea, and from the rivers to the end of the world. 9 The Ethiopians will fall down before him, and they will lick his dust. 10 The king of Farsia and the islands will bring gifts, the king of Arabia and Sheba will bring gifts: 11 and all the kings of the earth will worship him, all the nations will serve him. 12 Because the poor have delivered from the strong and the needy, they will not have a helper. 13 He will spare the poor and the needy, and save the souls of the needy: 14 He will deliver their souls from usury and from unrighteousness, and his name will be honorable before them. 15 And he will live, and some of the gold of Arabia will be given to him, and they will pray for him, and they will bless him all the day. 16 The land will be established on the top of the mountains; its fruit will be exalted more than Lebanon; and it will flourish from the hail like the grass of the earth. 17 His name will be blessed forever; his name abides before the sun, and in him all the tribes of the earth will be blessed, all the nations will make him blessed. 18 Blessed is the Lord, the God of Israel, who alone works wonders. 19 And blessed is the name of His glory forever and ever, and the whole earth will be filled with His glory: be, be.

Psalm 72.

Psalm to Asaph.

1 Since the God of Israel is good, with a right heart. 2 But for a little while my feet did not move: for a little while my feet were not shed. 3 Because I am jealous of the wicked, the world of sinners is in vain. 4 For there is no joy in their death, and no glory in their wounds, 5 in the labors of men, and men will not receive wounds. 6 For this reason I will restrain their pride to the end, clothed in their unrighteousness and wickedness. 7 Out of the fat their wickedness shall come forth into the love of the heart. 8 I have thought and spoken in wickedness, and lie as high as the verb. 9 He set his mouth in heaven, and his tongue went over the earth. 10 For this reason my people will be converted, and the days of fulfillment will be found in them. 11 And deciding: what will God lead? And is there intelligence in the Most High? 12 These are the sinners and the covetous for ever, holding back wealth. 13 And he said, “The food has justified my heart in vain, and I have washed my innocent hands, 14 and the plagues were all the day long, and my reproof was in the morning.” 15 And in words, let us say this: Behold the generation of thy sons, which were promised, 16 and they were not born to understand: this work is before me, 17 until I go into the sanctuary of God, and I mean the last them. 18 Moreover, because of their flattery, you brought evil upon them; you brought down me, having at one time become proud. 19 How was the desolation? Suddenly she disappeared, perishing for her iniquity. 20 Like the sleep of one who rises, O Lord, in Thy city thou shalt abase their image. 21 For my heart was kindled, and my bowels were changed. 22 And I was humbled and did not understand that you had cattle. 23 And I will go forth with You, You have held my hand on my right hand, 24 And You have guided me with Your advice, and You have received me with glory. 25 What do we have in heaven? And what do You desire on earth? 26 My heart and my flesh are gone, O God of my heart, and my portion, O God, forever. 27 For all those who separate themselves from You will perish; You have consumed everyone who commits fornication from You. 28 It is good for me to cleave to God, to place my trust in the Lord, so that I may proclaim all Your praises in the gates of Daughter Zion.

Psalm 73.

Asaph's mind.

1 What, O God, have you rejected to the end? Is Your anger angry against the sheep of Your pasture? 2 Remember Your host, which You acquired from the beginning, You delivered with the rod of Your inheritance, this mountain Zion, in which You dwelt. 3 Lift up Your hand against their pride to the end, O great enemy of Your holiness. 4 And they that hated Thee praised themselves in the midst of Thy festival, setting up their signs, the signs, and not knowing them, 5 As in the exodus above, as in the oak grove the trees were cut with axes. 6 Its doors together were destroyed with slash and insult. 7 Having set Thy holy place on fire, I have desecrated the habitation of Thy name on the earth. 8 They decided in their hearts together: “Come and let us put away all the festivals of God from the earth.” 9 We have not seen their signs: no one has a prophet, and no one knows us. 10 How long, O God, will the enemy reproach? Will the enemy annoy Your name to the end? 11 Why do you turn away your hand and your right hand from the midst of your bosom to the end? 12 But God our King brought salvation into the midst of the earth before the world began. 13 You established the sea with Your power, You wiped out the heads of the serpents in the water, 14 You crushed the head of the serpent, You gave it to the people of Ethiopia. 15 You have broken up the springs and streams, You have dried up the rivers of Itham. 16 Yours is the day, and Yours is the night: You made the dawn and the sun. 17 You created all the ends of the earth, you created the harvest and the spring. 18 Remember this, the enemy has reproached the Lord, and people have provoked your name to madness. 19 Do not deliver the soul that confesses to You to the beasts; do not completely forget the souls of Your poor. 20 Look upon Thy covenant, for the darkness of the land is filled with houses of iniquity. 21 Let not the humble, disgraced, the poor, and the needy return to praise Your name. 22 Arise, O God, judge Thy face, remember Thy reproach, even from the fool all day long. 23 Do not forget the voice of Your prayer book; I will take away the pride of those who hate You.

Psalm 74.

1 In the end, let him not corrupt, a psalm of songs to Asaph.

2 We confess to You, O God, we confess to You, and we will call on Your name; I will tell you all your wonders. 3 When the time comes, I will judge righteousness. 4 The earth melted and all who lived on it, I strengthened its pillars. 5 Reh to the wicked, do not commit iniquity: and to those who sin, do not lift up your horns, 6 do not lift up your horns on the height, and do not speak falsehoods against God: 7 for as low as from the exodus, as low as from the west, as low as from the desolation. x mountains 8 For God is the judge: this he humbles, and this he exalts. 9 Like the cup in the hand of the Lord, the wine is not dissolved, full of dissolution, and turn away from the sowing to this: lest His thirst be exhausted, all the sinners of the earth will drink. 10 But I will rejoice forever, I will sing praises to the God of Jacob: 11 And I will break all the horns of sinners, and the horn of the righteous will be exalted.

Psalm 75.

1 Finally, in songs, a psalm to Asaph, a song to the Assyrian.

2 God is known in Judah: His name is great in Israel. 3 And His place was made in the world, and His dwelling place was in Zion. 4 There you will destroy the fortresses of the bows, the weapons and the sword and the battle. 5 You enlighten marvelously from the eternal mountains. 6 All the foolishness of my heart was crushed: I fell asleep with my sleep, and found all the riches of men in my hands. 7 Because of Thy rebuke, O God, Jacob all slumbered on their horses. 8 You are terrible, and who can oppose You? From here comes Your wrath. 9 It is heard from heaven that you have executed judgment: the earth feared and was silent, 10 and at some time arise to the judgment of God, to save all the meek of the earth. 11 For the thought of man will be confessed to You: and the remnant of the thought will celebrate You. 12 Pray and give thanks to the Lord our God. All who are around Him will bring gifts, 13 to him who is terrible and takes away the spirits of princes, who is terrible than the kings of the earth.

Psalm 76.

1 Finally, O Idithum, a psalm to Asaph.

2 I cried with my voice to the Lord, with my voice to God, and I heard. 3 In the day of my tribulation I sought God with my hand, that I laid hold upon Him, and was not deceived. Having denied myself, my soul may be comforted. 4 I remembered God and rejoiced, and my spirit was mocked and faint-hearted. 5 Anticipate my fears: I am troubled and unable to speak. 6 I thought about the first days, and remembered the everlasting summer, and learned: 7 At night my heart mocked, and my spirit grew weary: 8 Will the Lord reject food forever, and show no mercy again? 9 Or will He cut off His mercy to the end, ending the verb from generation to generation? 10 Will God forget to provide food? Or will He withhold His bounties in His anger? 11 And he said: “Today this has begun, this betrayal of the right hand of the Most High.” 12 I will remember the works of the Lord, for I will remember Your wonders from the beginning, 13 and I will learn from all Your works, and I will mock at Your undertakings. 14 O God, your way is holy: who is the great god like our God? 15 Thou art a God who works wonders: Thou hast spoken Thy power among men, 16 Thou hast delivered with Thy arm Thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. 17 You saw the waters, O God, you saw the waters, and you were afraid: the deeps were troubled, 18 there was a great deal of noise in the waters, and a voice came from the clouds, for your arrows were passing away. 19 The voice of Your thunder is in the wheels, Your lightning illuminates the world: the earth moves and trembles. 20 Thy ways are in the sea, and Thy paths are in many waters, and Thy footsteps are not known. 21 You have instructed your people like sheep by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

According to the 10th kathisma, the Trisagion according to Our Father: Also troparia, tone 6:

On the terrible day of Your coming I am terrified, O Christ, and fear the unwashed judgment, O Lord, I am terrified and trembling, for I have many sins, but before the end, for the merciful God, convert and save Me, my Most Merciful Savior.

Glory: When thrones are set up for judgment, O Lord, and men appear before Your judgment seat: the king of a warrior will not be preferred, the ruler of a servant will not be preferred: everyone will either be glorified or put to shame by their deeds.

And now: Great gifts, Pure Virgin of God, you have been honored, as you gave birth to the flesh of the One of the Trinity, Christ the Giver of Life, for the salvation of our souls.

Lord, have mercy (40) and prayer:

Our Lord God, Rich in mercy and Incomprehensible in bounty, One by nature sinless, and for our sakes, except for sin, was a Man, hear at this painful hour my prayer, as a poor and wretched person I am overwhelmed by good deeds, and my heart is troubled within me. Weigh you, the Most High King, Lord of heaven and earth, for all my youth I lived in sins and followed the lusts of my flesh, all the laughter was a demon, all the devil followed, I took out in time the sweets of you rejoice, having been darkened by thoughts from infancy, even Until now, I never had the desire to do Your holy will, but I was captivated by the passions that haunted me, laughing and mocking the demon, never even thinking in my mind that there would be unbearable anger against sinners. of Your knowledge, and the fiery Gehenna lying down. As if from here I fell into despair, and was never in a sense of conversion, I was empty and naked even from Your friendship. What kind of sin have you not committed? What deeds have the demons not done? What evil and prodigal act is not done with advantage and diligence? I have desecrated my mind with carnal memories, I have desecrated my body with confusion, I have desecrated my spirit with adversity, I have loved every cursed flesh to serve and work with sin. And who else will not weep for me, wretched one? Who will not weep for me, the condemned? For I alone, Lord, have inflamed Your wrath, I alone have kindled Your anger against me, I alone have created evil before You, having surpassed and conquered all sinners from all ages, having sinned incomparably and unforgiven. But since You are Most Merciful, Compassionate, Lover of mankind, and waiting for human conversion, I cast myself before Your terrible and intolerable judgment, and like Your most pure feet touch, from the depths of my soul I cry to You: cleanse, Lord, forgive, Benefactor, have mercy on my weakness , bow to my bewilderment, listen to my prayer and do not silence my tears, accept me who repents, and convert me who has gone astray, embrace me who turns and pray for forgiveness. You have not ordained repentance for the righteous, you have not ordained forgiveness for those who do not sin, but you have ordained repentance for me, a sinner, for the wrongdoings of Thy indignation; naked and naked before You I stand, O O Heart. Dear Lord, I confess my sins: for I cannot look up and see the height Heavenly, from the severity of my sins we dance. Enlighten the eyes of my heart and give me tenderness for repentance, and contrition of heart for correction, so that with good hope and true confidence, I will go to that peace, praising and blessing you all-holy Your name, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and forever and ever, amen.

Brief interpretation

Briefly, the tenth Psalm of the Old Testament can be interpreted as follows:

  • “Why are you telling me to run to the mountains? I trust in God and will not be ashamed of my faith.”
  • “The wicked have already prepared for battle with me, they have drawn their bows, they have aimed their arrows.”
  • “What should I do when there are many people around me who are against me?”
  • “I know that God sits in His Holy Temple, looking at me and testing my heart.”
  • “He tests me, but he hates the wicked.” Therefore, David relies on the Lord and knows that He will support him and prevent bad things from happening.
  • God has prepared for sinners a cup filled with scorching wind, brimstone, fire and burning coals.
  • God, being himself righteous, loves and supports the righteous. He watches over those who obey Him.

The story of the confrontation between father and son ended for David both sadly and joyfully. He was able to regain the throne, but at the same time he lost Absalom, who was killed by David's military commander. Although the king before the battle strictly punished his people so that they would not touch Absalom. However, the commander of the army decided that it would be better this way.

The death of the rebel son was absurd - he had beautiful long hair and, riding on a horse from his pursuers, got tangled in the crown of a tree and hung. David's military commander found him hanging and killed him. After everything, David was sad for a long time and could not even celebrate the victory and the fact that everything ended well for him. But then he was able to recover and go out to his people with a speech.

The tenth Psalm of the Old Testament consists of 7 verses. Found on pages 572 and 573 of the Bible. It has one parallel location, which helps to better reveal the meaning of the verse to which it refers.

10:1-3 To the head of the choir. Psalm of David. I trust in the Lord; How then do you say to my soul: “Fly away to your mountain [like] a bird”?

David trusts in the Lord and therefore the wicked mock him, saying “come on, fly to your mountain (Jehovah’s mountain, Zion, to God), hurry so that He can help. Otherwise, the wicked are still preparing to shoot the pure in heart. Hurry to complain to Him on the mountain, maybe He will help you! If all the foundations of a righteous life are destroyed, what can a righteous person do? Nothing at all":

2 For behold, the wicked have drawn the bow, and have set their arrow to the string, to shoot in the darkness at the upright in heart. 3When the foundations are destroyed, what will the righteous do?

The wicked do not sleep, their weapons and plans are always ready against the upright in heart before God. This truism has been familiar to us since ancient times and absolutely nothing has changed so far, as long as the wicked are honored by this world and its demonic prince

10:4,5 The Lord is in His holy temple, the Lord is His throne in heaven,

However, David knows that the Lord is on this mountain, He is in His temple, and His throne is in heaven, He sees everything, so the wicked mock in vain. And the fact that the wicked are still on top in this age does not mean that God is not interested in His righteous people, and He approves of the wicked.

His eyes see;
His eyelids try the sons of men. 5 The Lord tests the righteous.
Through the presence of the wicked, God finds the righteous - people who do not want to follow in the footsteps of wickedness. But the eyes of the Lord are always directed to the earth to test the righteous. What is this test? We are thinking. Why does the buyer sometimes carefully examine and test with his gaze, for example, the label of a product in a store? Not out of curiosity or out of boredom. And solely in order to decide whether to buy this product or not, whether it is useful for the buyer and his family or harmful. But sometimes even the inscription on the label does not correspond to the contents. And sometimes a bright label can distract attention, mislead and the buyer will forget to inquire about the composition of the “product”. And he will certainly sell himself short if he chooses a “product” solely by appearance and bright label, without being particularly interested in the contents.

Each person is like a “product” hidden in a different label on the counter of God’s “store”. And it is good that God looks at the inside of the “products” in His “store”. You can’t fool him with a beautiful “candy wrapper”: the composition of the contents is His testing interest. That is why He examines the sons of men, determining whether this wondrous “fruit”, packaged in a beautiful candy wrapper, will be suitable for Him and His family in eternity, or will it prove harmful? Therefore, dress up or don’t dress up in a beautiful “package”, but don’t forget about the main thing: let’s wash away from our hearts everything ugly and unpleasant that can upset God even if we have a chic external gloss

but the wicked and the lover of violence His soul hates.

God Himself (His soul) hates the wicked; in Psalm 5:6 David showed that God NOT only hates the WORKS of the wicked, but also those who do them, that is, the wicked themselves. So early all the wicked rejoice in the prosperity of their wickedness.

10:6,7 He will rain burning coals, fire and brimstone on the wicked; and the scorching wind is their portion from the cup; 7 For the Lord is righteous, loving righteousness; He sees the righteous in His face.

In due time, the wicked will receive what they deserve: coal, brimstone, fire, scorching wind, both literal and spiritual - this is the “reward” awaiting all the wicked. Maybe this makes some people happy. But it would be better to still wish them to become righteous, for God loves the righteous and not one of them will go unnoticed by Him. And living is better than not living.

Content

This text is one of the shortest in the Psalter - there are only seven lines in this chapter. Psalm 10 was written in turbulent times, when Absalom was preparing an uprising against the rightful king, his own father. The situation became increasingly alarming. Many advised the ruler not to tempt fate and to hide before events took a dangerous turn for him.

But David rejected worldly wisdom and did not lose heart. He persevered in faith, relying entirely on the righteousness and faithfulness of the Lord.

Despite its apparent simplicity, this chapter contains deep implications. In the first three verses one can see the hidden struggle that was going on in the heart of the great man. Yes, he did not run, but those around him tempted him. This is how the devil sometimes approaches people through friends and relatives. They inspire faint-hearted thoughts of giving up.

But is it really necessary for someone for whom God Himself stands up to flee? Such a person always has his most powerful weapon at the ready - prayer. It doesn’t matter what language it is spoken in—Russian, Jewish, English—the Lord will hear and intercede for the righteous. Let the enemies consider themselves cunning, the Lord sees everything and will destroy their plans in time.

A righteous person should not use tricks to avoid the trials that God has prepared for him. Remembering the biblical promises, he follows his path straight, without turning anywhere. After all, if the soul is pure, it has nothing to fear! She has a great righteous protector and judge.

The fate of sinners is unenviable. A terrible storm of God's wrath will fall on the heads of the wicked. Unrepentant villains face a flood of fire that will consume them. So is it worth it for an honest person to hide as if he has done something wrong? No, he boldly moves towards the future.
