Chapter 39. The rite of blessing and consecration of the newly constructed Cross
Having placed the former table with an honorable veil before the holy gates, the priest, wearing a stole and a phelonion of robes, leaves, and having made a cross in the form of a new cross, begins as usual: Blessed is our God : The face sings: King of heaven. Reader: Trisagion. Our Father: and because yours is the kingdom: Lord have mercy, 12. Glory, and now: Come, let us worship: three times.
And Psalm 131:
Lord remember David and all his meekness. As he swears to the Lord, making a promise to Jacob to God: If I go down into the village of my house, or go up to the bed of my bed: If I give sleep to my eyes, and slumber and peace everywhere. and skraniama moya: To the bottom I will find the place of the Lord, a habitation for the God of Jacob. Behold, I heard in Euphratha, I found in the fields of the oak grove. Let us go into his villages and bow down to the place where he stands. Arise, Lord, into your rest, you and the ark of your sanctuary. Your priests will be clothed with righteousness, and your saints will rejoice. David, for the sake of your servant, do not turn away the face of your anointed one. The Lord swears to David in truth, and it will not be rejected: I will set you on your throne of the fruit of your womb. If your sons keep my covenant, and my testimonies, which I will teach, and their sons will sit on your throne forever. For the Lord has chosen Zion, and will it be for his own dwelling. This is my rest forever and ever, here I will dwell as I please. I will bless his catch, I will satisfy his poor with bread, I will clothe his priests with salvation, and his saints will rejoice with joy. There I will make the horn of David grow; I will prepare a lamp for my anointed one. I will clothe his enemies with cold, and on it my sanctuary will flourish.
Also, Psalm 59:
God, you have rejected us, and you have cast down us: you were angry, and you showed mercy to us. You have shaken the earth, and you have troubled her: heal her contrition, for she has moved. You showed your people how cruel you are, you gave us the wine of tenderness to drink. Thou hast given a sign to those who feared thee, even to flee from the face of the bow. For let your loved ones be delivered, save with your right hand and hear me. God said in His holiness: I will rejoice, and I will divide the Sikima, and measure out a vale of habitations. Mine is Gilead, and mine is Manasseh, and Ephraim the stronghold. my head, Judah my king. Moab is the konob of my hope: on Idumite I stretch out my boot, the foreign women have submitted to me. Who will lead me into the city of enclosure? or who will guide me to Edom? Are you not the God who has rejected us? and God will not go forth in our strength? Give us help from sorrow, and human salvation is in vain. Through God we will create strength, and he will subdue the cold that afflicts us.
Also, Psalm 98:
The Lord reigns, let the people be angry: let him sit on the cherubim, let the earth move. The Lord is great in Zion, and is high above all people. Let them confess to your great name: how terrible and holy it is. And the king’s court loves honor: you have prepared righteousness, you have created judgment and righteousness in Jacob. Lift up the Lord our God, and worship his footstool, for he is holy. Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among those who call on his name: I called upon the Lord, and he also listened to them. In the pillar of the cloud he said to them: For I have kept his testimony and his commandments which I have given them. Lord our God, you listened to them: God, you were merciful to them, and took vengeance on all their undertakings. Lift up the Lord our God, and worship him in his holy mount: for the Lord our God is holy.
Glory, even now: Alleluia, three times.
Lord have mercy, three times.
And the troparion, voice 1:
God save your people, and bless your inheritance, granting victories to our blessed emperor Nikolai Alexandrovich against the resistance, and preserving your residence through your cross. Three times.
Glory, kontakion, voice 4:
Ascend to the cross by your will, to your namesake new residence, grant your bounty to Christ God: by your power you rejoice our blessed emperor Nikolai Alexandrovich, giving victory I have your weapon of peace, your invincible victory, as a companion, for his benefit.
And now, the same voice:
The life-giving cross of your goodness, which you bestowed on us unworthy, Lord, we offer to you in prayer, save the king and the faithful people of the Mother of God for the sake of the Mother of God, praying for us for you, eat not more humane.
Abiye therefore sing this troparion three times, voice 6:
Send your life-giving grace, and sanctify this cross, and show it to all your people to be help and affirmation:
Deacon: Let us pray to the Lord.
Lik: Lord have mercy.
The priest reads this prayer:
Lord God of glory, Father Almighty, God of hosts, like the tree of life in the midst of this present paradise, you prefigured the life-giving cross of your only begotten Son: and instead of the tree of disobedience , with the taste of the all-evil serpent our forefathers, and with them the entire human race was expelled from paradise and into death draw the sign of that life-giving cross, upon which your beloved Son was nailed, having died, and put to death death, and abolished all the power of the devil, and gave life to the world, his church an invincible weapon, sanctification and protection of powers, and confirmation of faith, and from all I have delivered you from the wiles of the devil, and you have given me strong hope of salvation, and you have given me unshameful hope to receive life. Moreover, we are your servants, having become worthy of so much of your grace, give thanks to the being, we offer glory and gratitude and humble worship to your majesty, and we pray tenderly, as if mercifully Look at this sign of the cross, even your faithful servants, out of zeal and firm faith and love, even to you, having built, as a sign of the victory of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, freedom and our deliverance: and send down your heavenly blessing upon her, and bless and sanctify her, and fill her with strength and blessings on this tree, on which the holy body was nailed Our Lord Jesus Christ, your only begotten Son, by whom the power of the devil has been trampled, and the freedom of the earth has been gained, and life has been made worthy. Here, we pray to you, most holy Master, for the sake of the holy passion, and the holy blood of the outpouring, and the life-giving death of your only begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, with my advice to you God the Father without beginning, and by the will of your Most Holy Spirit, for our salvation you endured on the tree of the cross, and by these, the tree of the godfather, even sometimes sinning and evil-doing execution, is blessed, holy, life-giving, and create deliverance for those who sin, even in your prayer we offer: we are sent not the grace of your Most Holy Spirit, on this sign of the cross, and bless and sanctify it, and let him be a terrible and strong sign against all enemies, visible and invisible, and may he drive away and repel all the intrigues, slander and accusations of the devil: let your people have protection veins, affirmation of faith, reinforcement of hope, victory in battles, and success in all virtues , and before this sign, the listener is merciful to all who bow down to you and bring supplications, and be a rich giver of all petitions for salvation. And just as by the cross you freed the world from sinful condemnation: the since of your servants, this sign of the cross to you faithfully from the soul, by the power of the cross of your beloved Son, always overcome reveal the existence of sin, and grant them all your earthly and heavenly good, and always use the cross for good Instructing all the faithful, lead them to receive the heavenly crown. For you are the source of sanctification, and the rich giver of all good things, and we send glory to you, with your only begotten Son, and with your most holy, and good, and life-giving spirit, now and ever, and forever and ever.
Lik: Amen.
Priest: Peace to all.
Lik: And to your spirit.
Deacon: Bow your heads to the Lord.
Lik: For you, Lord.
The priest secretly reads this prayer:
O God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, by his cross you have conquered the devil and put to death, you have freed the human race from flattery and torment: look now to our prayer and to This sign of the cross, to the glory of you, God the father and your consubstantial Son and your natural spirit, and in remembrance of her former glory over the devil, death and hell, victory, and our deliverance, built by your holy spirit, in the sprinkling of sowing water, bless and sanctify . And pour out upon it your holy blessing and power, even by sprinkling the blood and nailing the body of your beloved Son; the blessed tree has been acquired; your filthy people as a wall and a cover, and as a pillar of a fortress from the face of the enemy, to drive away but all evil is opposed, and for the healing of mental and physical ailments, and for the prayers and supplications of all to be heard, faithfully before this sign of those who pray.
And he proclaims: For you are the God of mercy, and generosity, and love for mankind, and to you we send glory, with your only begotten Son, and with your most holy, good, and life-giving spirit, now and forever eyelids of centuries.
Lik: Amen.
The priest sprinkles holy water, saying:
This sign of the cross is sanctified by the grace of the Most Holy Spirit, by sprinkling holy water, in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, amen. Three times.
And Abiye therefore stood reverently before the holy sign of the cross, and took the censer and censed it in the shape of a cross, this belt of stichera, voice 8:
The cross is the guardian of the entire universe, the cross is the beauty of the church: the cross is the king's power: the cross is to the faithful affirmation: the cross is glory to the angel, and the plague to the demon.
Glory, and now, voice 4: About you, blessed and life-giving cross, people celebrate with nourishment: with disembodied faces, the rank of bishops reverently sings: there are many monastics and We bow to the saints, but we all glorify Christ, who is spread out on you.
Therefore, we sing this stichera twice: We worship your Cross, Master, and we glorify your holy resurrection.
He reverently bows to the ground and kisses the honest and holy cross. After the kiss, the pack, with the third waist, also bows down.
In the same way, all those present bow down and kiss the Honorable Cross:
I sing this stichera to Lika, voice 2:
Come, faithful ones, let us worship the power of the cross: for the tree of heaven has vegetated death, but this life is prosperous, the sinless that is, is nailed to the Lord. from him incorruption embraces all the nations, we call: by the cross you have abolished death, and freed us from the deception and torment of the devil, God be the glory to you.
Abiye therefore makes a dismissal and reekshu to the deacon:
Wisdom.
And the face: The most honest cherub. Glory, even now: Lord have mercy, three times. Bless.
Priest: Who was crucified on the tree of the cross for our salvation, and was willing to lift up death, and rose from the dead for three days: Christ our true God, through His most pure prayers e, by the power of the Honest and Life-giving Cross, and for the sake of all his saints, he will have mercy and save us, as good and philanthropic.
Lik: Amen.
The priest, taking up the cross, brings it into the altar by the Royal Doors, and turning to the people, blesses them with the cross, the verb:
The Lord save your people, and bless your inheritance:
And he puts up a cross on the Throne and leaves, thanking God.
