Books
Father Artemy's books are presented here - prose and poetry collections - and you can read selected chapters from them.
Preaching works are akin to literary creativity. In the 21st century, when, following corruption, there is a disintegration of form and content in art, it is so gratifying, having found sources of living water, to draw from them thoughts and feelings that are clothed in words.

- Thirty-three and 1 Why doesn’t everyone understand and accept poetry? I think this happens for the same reason why classical music remains alien to some teenagers. They have not yet learned to think deeply and feel subtly; they are not able, due to their youth, to revere beauty...
- My University The book “My University” can be classified as a memoir genre. It covers the events of 1978-1983, spent by the author at the Faculty of Philology at Moscow University. Verbal portraits of outstanding teachers and famous clergy, a reflection of the ideological quests of student youth and their difficult path to the Church, the spiritual atmosphere of Moscow parishes and, finally, the drama of a sincere young soul make this work an interesting monument to a bygone era.
- Why is confession needed?
- From a bird's eye view (pdf 6.8 Mb) (pdf 2.14 Mb) This new work by Archpriest Artemy Vladimirov is autobiographical. It included memories of the first seventeen years of life. Of real interest are the verbal portraits of representatives of the creative intelligentsia who were part of the writer’s family’s social circle. The book will be read with pleasure by everyone who thinks about the spiritual and moral development of a teenager’s personality, and is designed for an audience of different ages.
- Seven words about the Sacraments of the Mother Church (rtf) (pdf 7.8 Mb) The brochure is intended for those embarking on the path of Christian life and wishing to gain an idea not only of the procedure for performing the Sacraments, but also of their internal content. Pastors may find the author's reflections on modern parish practice of performing the Holy Sacraments particularly interesting.

Confession and prayer: New books about the main thing
New publications by Archpriest Artemy Vladimirov are presented at the Orthodox St. Tikhon's University for the Humanities
In the Cathedral Chamber of the Orthodox St. Tikhon's Humanitarian University, in the very place where a century ago the meetings of the All-Russian Local Council of 1917-1918 were held, the Lenten evening of one of the most famous Moscow pastors and preachers, Archpriest Artemy Vladimirov, took place. A man who, over three decades of priestly service, brought many thousands of modern people to Christ, and also wrote dozens of spiritual and educational books.
Confession and prayer: new books about the main thing
The latest of the priest’s works is “At the Cross and the Gospel. Pastoral reflections on the Sacrament of Repentance" and "Hallowed be Thy Name. Reflections on the Jesus Prayer” are especially relevant during Lent and just recently came out of print. It was these books that Father Artemy presented during the last evening, which received a very subtle and heartfelt title - “Breath of Life”. He presented it in his characteristic lyrical manner: with readings of his own poems and works of classics. With performances by the spiritual choir, and most importantly - sincere and touching, and sometimes ironic stories from their own life and many years of spiritual practice:
“Father, I was in kindergarten, and my friend found a pack of cigarettes in a children’s toy box, and then I took a drag!” - Lord have mercy! The power of the Cross is with us! Did you smoke after that? - Never! - Well, God will forgive, God will forgive...
But, of course, not everything is so funny and simple in the spiritual practice of a modern priest. Yes, the general set of human sins has changed little over the past millennia, but the attitude towards them has changed considerably. Moreover, according to Father Artemy’s firm conviction, the easily accessible Internet has caused enormous damage to the morality of modern people, especially young people. But “there is no man who will live and not sin,” the main thing is to overcome the false fear of repentance - the Sacrament of Confession. Father Artemy Vladimirov shared with Tsargrad the main idea of his new book about this Sacrament:
I talked today about the fact that I chose the genre of small diary entries precisely so that, poking literally anywhere in this small mortal work, the reader would find something precious, important and meaningful for himself. And since the book talks about the difficulties in preparing for Confession, in communicating with the shepherd, and points out numerous mistakes on the part of both the shepherd and the flock, in this sense it can be an unobtrusive aid for the penitents...”
But it is impossible to learn repentance without having the experience of prayerful communication with the Lord. And this is exactly what is said in the second new book of Father Artemy, “Hallowed be Thy Name,” dedicated to the central prayer in the life of every Orthodox person - the Jesus Prayer, the beginning of all repentance.
The peculiarity of the second book is that the author is trying to prove to himself that a small child, a housewife, and an elderly person with a broken hip are able to call on the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ with attention, reverence, and through the Name called upon with faith, the energy of the Holy Spirit overshadows our thoughts and feelings,”
- Father Artemy told Tsargrad.
All his books are written in an easy and understandable language, but at the same time very deep. They lead every attentive and thoughtful reader from “verbal milk” to “solid spiritual food.” And accordingly, they are genuine guides in spiritual life. Guides that can become a serious help for every person - both those taking the first steps towards the Church of Christ, and those already on Her saving “Ship”.
