Archpriest Anatoly Rodionov was appointed rector, who took upon himself all the work on the construction of the temple building. Despite the fact that the temple itself was erected by the Moscow authorities in a year, the rector and clergy of the temple continued to beautify it in the future. By 2009, the interior painting of the temple was completed.

On February 27, 2011, the Meat Week, the Last Judgment, and the day of remembrance of St. Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril, teacher of Slovenia, His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' Kirill performed the great consecration of the temple and the Divine Liturgy in the newly consecrated church. Icon “Soothe my sorrows”

The image of the Mother of God “Quench My Sorrows” became famous in Rus' thanks to miracles in the second half of the eighteenth century during the plague epidemic. “quenchable” means quenching, taming not only sorrows and illnesses, but also human hardness. The icon was revered by the wives of Russian monarchs. After the events of the seventeenth year of the last century, the fate of the image is unknown.

The first icon was in the convent of the city of Shklov, Mogilev region, Belarus. The troops of Emperor Alexei Mikhailovich captured the city of Shklov, and the Cossacks, as usual, took lists of images as gifts, among which was “Quench My Sorrows.” The image was delivered to Moscow and placed in the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker on Pupyshi in Sadovniki. At one time, probably due to numerous fires and repair work, it was forgotten and abandoned in the bell tower, but a miracle of healing happened.

This legend was passed down orally from generation to generation. One noblewoman was a very sick woman, almost paralyzed. But one day she had a dream in which she saw the image of the Mother of God and should pray to him. She told her relatives to take her to the Church of St. Nicholas.

When she got to the temple, she was presented with several images, even those on the bell tower, among which she saw the image of the Virgin Mary “Quench my sorrows.” The woman had the strength to cross herself, and then she got up and walked quietly. After this event, the icon was put in order and placed in the temple. In the icon, the Mother of God holds a baby in one hand, who is holding an unfolded papyrus with text from the Bible. The other hand is leaning against the head and tilted slightly to the side.

The first temple in Maryino

The first small church in Maryino was founded in 1996. For the first time, the Eucharist was served within the walls of the church and parishioners heard church singing on the eve of the Nativity of Christ in 1997. In 1999, Patriarch Alexy II laid the foundation stone for a new stone church, and in 2001 the Patriarch himself consecrated the temple and presented the rector with an icon of St. Alexei.

For several more years, the temple “Quench My Sorrows” in Maryino was built and improved until the Great Consecration of the temple took place. In 2011, Patriarch Kirill personally performed the required rite of the Great Consecration of the temple.

Andrei Obolensky was approved as the architect for the construction of the temple, and it was built at the expense of residents, organizations and enterprises of the area and the Moscow metropolis. Maryinskaya Church became the first temple in Moscow built in the 21st century.

The temple was consecrated in honor of the miraculous icon, which is currently located in the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Kuznetsy. To this day people go to her and receive healing.

At the moment, a foundation pit for the temple has been developed and experimental piles are being tested. In general, this year it is planned to complete the “zero” cycle of the future church. In the meantime, believers pray in a wooden church, which should be replaced with a new one.

As Bishop Matthew noted in his speech to the believers, a new church for more than 500 parishioners is needed in the area, which is the most populated in the capital.

– The Maryino district, which is the largest in terms of population in the city of Moscow, is in dire need of another church. Our church will accommodate more than 500 parishioners! Children, adults, and elderly people will gather here - all those who seek salvation on the ship of the Church of Christ ,” said Bishop Yegoryevsky.

As for the dedication of the church to Saints Peter and Fevronia, who are the patrons of Orthodox marriage, Bishop Matthew noted that such a dedication is very relevant in our time.

– His Holiness Patriarch Kirill constantly talks about the importance of preserving the family. About the importance of preserving traditional values, which some people are now trying to question, and to elevate deviation from the norm almost into a virtue. That’s why preserving family values is so necessary these days! – the archpastor emphasized.

In turn, the curator of the “Program 200”, within the framework of which this temple is being built, State Duma deputy Vladimir Resin pointed out the importance of building churches within walking distance, especially for older people.

– Such temples within walking distance are very important for people, especially the older generation, who find it difficult to travel far or walk far. And here is a temple for more than 500 people. It will be built in a couple of years,” he said.

In general, as Vladimir Resin reported, 240 new parishes have already been created in Program 200, and each parish is, first of all, people - “tens of thousands of people, united by the same faith, the same aspirations.”

Story

By the grace of the Creator, in the capital's municipal district of Maryino on July 8, 2012, on the day of honoring the noble princes Peter and Fevronia of Murom, a solemn consecration of the foundation cross was carried out on the site of the construction of the future temple in honor of these saints.

On the day of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, the domes of the temporary wooden church were consecrated, and on March 29 of the same year they performed the rite of minor consecration of the temple itself.

From the first days of construction, by decree of His Holiness the Patriarch, Archpriest Pavel Gumerov, a hereditary clergyman and author of numerous books on family relationships, was appointed rector of the parish from the first days of construction.

About why these particular saints were chosen as patrons of the parish, Father Paul reports:

“Family life is a very important topic. Therefore, our temple is dedicated to the faithful Peter and Fevronia. In second place after priestly ministry, I put family ministry and everything connected with it: lectures, conversations, seminars, books on family topics. I believe that after preaching and sharing the Word of God, this topic is the most important and painful. The institution of the family will never die, because it is God’s Creation, and the Creator’s Plan will never disappear, no matter how much some of our opponents want it.”

A wooden Worship Cross was erected on the territory of the parish. For a year and a half, while construction was underway, prayers were held here and an akathist was read to the noble princes.

Today, this parish still has a lot of work to do related to the construction of the main stone church.

Interesting fact

Many people, when getting married, want to do it on the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity, that is, July 8th. But, according to church canons, a wedding on this day is impossible, since it always falls during the period of Peter’s Lent. In order to help fulfill the pious desires of young couples, the Holy Synod decided to additionally celebrate the Sacrament of Wedding on the coming Sunday before September 19 - the day of transferring the relics of the holy saints to the Trinity Monastery in Murom, since this day is also associated with their memory.
