The icon of Saints Peter and Fevronia is an image in monasticism of David and Euphrosyne, who were the Orthodox patrons of the family. They are considered the model of a perfect Christian marriage. This story is about how the prince fell in love with a girl from the people from the family of a tree climber, which became the reason for the anger of the boyars. For the sake of love, David renounced the princely throne for the sake of his beloved. Fate had many trials in store for them, but the couple coped with all the trials. The man and woman accepted monasticism and after a while they became worthy on the same day, June 25, 1228.

Where is the icon of Peter and Fevronia
The relics of the saints are located in the Holy Trinity Monastery: Vladimir region, Murom, Krestyanina Square, 3/A. The line starts outside the temple walls, but women and children are allowed in from the other side. Here on the eighth of July a liturgy takes place, which begins at six in the morning. After you have been to the service, confessed and received communion, you need to approach the relics and ask for what you need.
It is worth asking sincerely and heartily for everything you need. If you ask for love, then it is worth clarifying that you need a happy family, and not just mutual sympathy. Miraculous saints give preference to married couples. The best gratitude for their help in response to your requests is to come and thank them; if you wish, you can even get married in the monastery.
You can ask for happiness not only for your own, but also for those close and dear to you. Remember this.
Real examples of help
Traditionally, the sisters of the Holy Trinity Monastery document cases known to them of real help to parishioners after prayers to Peter and Fevronia and various miraculous phenomena occurring near the relics.
After the relics were transferred to the monastery in the early nineties of the twentieth century, two pillars of light were noticed rising above the monastery. The candles in the lamps were also lit independently.
Among the well-known cases of helping parishioners is the case when the wife of one of the people who sponsored the restoration of the monastery gave birth to a daughter after prayer. The woman was already over forty, but she was childless. After praying to the holy relics, the Lord gave the couple their first child.
The miraculous icon of Peter and Fevronia
The story of one family that was helped by an image for more than one generation. “My grandmother was getting ready to get married and her godmother gave the icon of the saints before the wedding. Grandmother prayed in front of the image. At night I dreamed of Peter, who said that the grandmother should not rush to get married, since this was not her man. In the morning she told the dream to her groom.

He was the chairman of the Komsomol cell. This story angered him and he said that she should take off the cross and get rid of all the icons in the house. Grandma made her choice. They broke up. But soon she met her grandfather and they got married very soon. Happily married for over sixty years.
My mother couldn't get pregnant. Doctors diagnosed infertility. It was decided to go to Moscow to visit the relics of the saints. They searched for them for a long time. The day passed very quickly and without result. The parents were unable to find accommodation in a hotel. On the street, an old woman offered her help and said that they would receive help through prayers. In the morning they went to the museum to see the holy relics and prayed. When they got home, they realized that mom was already pregnant.
I met my husband when I was twenty. We have two wonderful children. Before marriage we were blessed with the face of saints. After a while, the husband was replaced, he changed a lot, he became rude. It turned out that he was dating a married woman. My meeting with her did not change anything, and the decision was made to go to the temple. We prayed for the preservation of the family.
God heard our prayers. That woman’s husband was sent on a business trip, where she also went. My husband and I forgave each other and started life with a clean slate. This is how the miraculous face helped us.”

History of the image
Saints Peter and Fevronia are known throughout the world from numerous chronicles.
Before becoming a monk, Peter was Prince David Yuryevich and he ruled in the city of Murom in the 13th century. Having become a monk, he took a different name, since this symbolizes complete renunciation of everything that was in his life before the monastery and the Lord.
Despite the fact that the saints are depicted as already elderly people in the image, they met at a time when they were no more than 30 years old, and the history of their acquaintance deserves careful study.
The prince fell ill with leprosy and searched through the villages for a doctor who could heal him, and Fevronia lived in one of the villages and was the daughter of an ordinary kozhemyaki, i.e. an ordinary peasant woman. The girl was fond of herbs and could cure diseases, when the prince came to her and asked her to heal him, she set a condition for him: healing in exchange for marriage.
The young prince eagerly promised to marry, because he wanted to be healthy, but when the girl actually cured him, he left the area and left. He could not marry a commoner. However, the Lord arranged it in such a way that as soon as he left the village, the disease immediately returned.

Peter returned to Fevronia and married her. When he brought her to his mansion, his boyars rebelled - after all, they did not want to walk under the arm of some peasant woman. War began to ripen and Peter decided to leave the throne. He and his wife got into a boat and sailed down the Oka River, which carried them away from Murom.
Today there are several icons depicting this moment.

When the prince left the city, a battle for his throne began and people suffered because the boyars could not decide on a ruler. Ordinary people found Peter and begged him to return. He returned to the city, took the throne and ruled for many more years, doing everything for his subjects.
At the dawn of their lives, at the age of 90, Peter and Fevronia took monastic vows and died some time later on the same day.

How to properly position a home iconostasis
As stated above, the number of icons does not matter, and you should not place images haphazardly (cover holes in wallpaper, for example). Icons should have their own bright and important place.
Thoughtless, empty collecting will give your iconostasis absolutely nothing. A few icons and a prayer from the heart are always stronger than a rich iconostasis with expensive icons in gold frames “for show”.
- The iconostasis is created in the likeness of a church one. Definitely with a hierarchical arrangement of images: in the center is the Savior with the Mother of God (the Savior is to her right!), the Holy Trinity can be located in the same row (or above all the images). If there is no Trinity, a crucifix is placed at the top of the iconostasis. All other images are subject to these key icons: to the right of the Savior is the image of John the Baptist. This triptych is the Deesis (approx. prayer, basis). Next come the saints, saints and other icons (for example, local saints or personal ones), which the Orthodox choose at their own request. Saints are not placed above the Deesis, the apostles, the Trinity.
- A lamp is placed on the shelf of the iconostasis, which is lit on the eve and on the holidays themselves, on Sundays or during prayer.
- Sometimes the images are decorated (as in the old days) with a deity. This is a narrow and long canvas towel with embroidery on the ends. Such idols covered the images from the sides and top, leaving only the faces.
- The icon case is most suitable for the iconostasis - the images are better preserved in it, and the red corner stands out.
- It does not matter whether the icon was painted by hand by an artist who received a blessing, whether it was purchased as a reproduction image, or cut out from an Orthodox calendar and pasted onto a solid base. The main thing is to consecrate the icon. Although, of course, a hand-painted image covered with linseed oil will always surpass a printed reproduction.
- The choice of image style is a matter of taste. It could be Byzantine or Old Russian style - it doesn’t matter. As long as it’s not secular (academic is also not welcome). Now it has become fashionable to paint icons as one pleases, without the proper blessing, with a lot of elements “from one’s own”, etc. Such icons have a place anywhere - just not in the iconostasis. You shouldn't mix styles either.
And finally: never confuse the prototype and the image itself. We offer prayer not to the icon, but to the prototype.
Prayers and Akathist
There are several prayers to the pious Prince and Princess of Murom, which are equivalent in strength. You can easily find them in prayer books or on Orthodox websites on the Internet. Prayers should be read with faith, hope and sincere gratitude. It is recommended to read before the image of the pious couple.
The akathist to Saints Peter and Fevronia has enormous power. It can be read if you have not been able to meet your soulmate or give birth to a child for a long time. The akathist should be read daily in front of the image of the saints and a lit church candle. Before reading, you should cross yourself 3 times, read the “Our Father” prayer and thank the Lord for everything that he has sent in life, even for all the trials and difficulties.
It is important! Who is Saint Panteleimon and how does his icon help?
It is worth remembering that any sincere prayer to the icon of Peter and Fevronia is effective, even one that was uttered in your own words. It is not necessary to read the text from the prayer book, especially if many of the words in it are incomprehensible. In this case, it is best to compose the text of the prayer yourself. If the spoken words come from the heart, the prayer will certainly reach its goal and be fulfilled. Faith and sincerity can work real miracles.
May the Lord help pious Christian families through the prayers of the prince and princess of Murom miracle workers!
