Every day a large number of people come to churches to pray to St. John of Kronstadt. They ask for help in various difficult situations. Believers know that prayer to John of Kronstadt relieves serious ailments, bad habits, and even damage.
Even during his lifetime, as rector of St. Andrew's Church, Father John did not refuse the suffering. Even then people came to him for mental and physical healing, to get rid of the human evil eye and demonic influence. He not only drove out the evil spirit from a person, but also directed him to the true path. But in what way turning to the Saint helps and which of them should be read in a given situation, you and I will now find out.
Prayer to Saint John of Kronstadt for drunkenness
- Very often people suffering from bad habits and various kinds of temptations come to the Saint for help.
- Those addicted to tobacco products, alcohol and drugs turn to John to get rid of their influence. Most often people come to him when they have already tried everything, but the addiction remains. The saint never leaves anyone in trouble.
- It happens that grief-stricken mothers and wives make prayers; their requests are always heard.
This is what an appeal to the Saint looks like for those who are unable to stop drinking on their own:
“Lord, look mercifully on Your servant (name), seduced by the flattery of the belly and carnal joy. Grant him to know the sweetness of abstinence in fasting and the fruits of the Spirit flowing from it. Amen."
What are they asking John of Kronstadt to do?
The lamp of the Russian land died not so long ago in 1908. Since then, people have not stopped turning to him for help. In recent years, volumes have been collected describing miraculous healings that were received by praying both at the shrine with relics and at home. Before you ask for anything, find out about this amazing man.
Reading about John Sergius of Kronstadt, people's worldview changes, non-believers come to church, those in need receive what they ask for. The saint had a special affection for children. He loved everyone, but children immeasurably more. He told one drunkard husband: “Your home is heaven, because children live in it, and you traded it for a tavern.”
There was so much love and compassion in these words that the man stopped drinking. Father became famous as a healer of any addiction, especially drunkenness. Don't believe in narrow specialization of saints or icons. In the end, all petitions are directed to Christ. The saints participate in our requests. They strengthen their weak prayers while standing before the throne of the Lord. Here is a small part of what we asked for and received help:
- Getting rid of the disease of drunkenness.
- Healing severe cancer.
- Discovering learning abilities (languages, mathematics).
- University admission.
- Treatment of a brain tumor - the disease resolved without surgery.
- There is a known case when a woman who died on the resuscitation table came to life at the moment of her sister’s prayer under the window of the temple with the relics of I. Kronstadt.
- The lamp oil that illuminates the Saint’s shrine cured long-term asthma.
- Help was received: from the consequences of frostbite; when the hand is immobilized; nerve damage that threatens paralysis; stomach ulcer; pneumonia; severe burns after an explosion; kidney diseases and many others.
Conclusion: Turn to the saints for help. Believe that illnesses, sorrows, failures in business and relationships can be corrected. You are not alone in your trouble. The Lord and the holy righteous are always there to save and protect from all evil. The main thing is to ask in time, to turn, to know how much the Heavenly Forces love us. With whom one day, God willing, we too will find ourselves.

Prayer to the Saint for teaching
It is known that Father John was not good at science. He couldn't bring himself to sit down and read his books. But, having started reading prayers, he had the strength to sit down at his textbooks and become an educated and spiritually developed person. Therefore, the clergyman never leaves schoolchildren and students in trouble.

These are the words to ask the Saint for help:
“O great servant of Christ, holy righteous Father John of Kronstadt, wondrous shepherd, quick helper and merciful representative! Raising praise to the Triune God, you prayerfully cried out: “Your name is Love: do not reject me, who am erring.
Your name is Strength: strengthen me, who is weak and falling. Your name is Light: enlighten my soul, darkened by worldly passions. Your name is Peace: pacify my restless soul. Your name is Mercy: do not cease to have mercy on me.”
Now the all-Russian flock, grateful to Your intercession, prays to You: Christ-named and righteous servant of God! With your love, illumine us, sinners and weaklings, grant us the ability to bear worthy fruits of repentance and to partake of the Holy Mysteries of Christ without condemnation.
With your power, strengthen our faith in us, support us in prayer, heal ailments and illnesses, deliver us from misfortunes, visible and invisible enemies. With the light of your face, incite the servants and heads of the altar of Christ to perform holy deeds of pastoral work, grant education to infants, instruct youth, support old age, illuminate the shrines of churches and holy abodes.

In Christ living, our Father John, lead us to the unevening light of eternal life, so that with you we may be worthy of eternal bliss, praising and exalting God forever and ever. Amen".
Who wrote prayers to the saint
The veneration of the saint began long before his canonization. Already several decades after his death, the first prayers began to appear, even akathists dedicated to him. Initially, their authors were clergy and monks who belonged to the Russian Church Abroad. After the glorification of the saint, prayers to him also appear in the Russian Orthodox Church. As a rule, prayers to the saint appear as part of akathists to him. Among their authors:
- Hieroschemamonk Pachomius the Svyatogorets (this is the first akathist and prayer to the righteous, dated March 1, 1932);
- nun Joanna, who created the “Pyukhtitsa Akathist,” named after the monastery he once founded in Estonia (1891);
- Metropolitan Nikodim (Rusnak) of Kharkov; prayers as part of the akathist to St. John, written by him back in the 1970s, was finally approved for church use in 2008.
- Metropolitan German (Timofeev) of Volgograd and Kamyshin; his akathist (2015) contains a prayer of rights. John, written not in Church Slavonic, but in modern Russian.
Prayers of John of Kronstadt against corruption

John’s prayers, like a real miracle, help to heal and get rid of a terrible scourge. Therefore, it is especially advisable to know these prayer words, because the world is so changeable, and the human gaze is incredibly strong.
“Glory to You, Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of the beginningless Father, You alone heal every ailment and every illness in people, as you had mercy on the flesh of a sinner and delivered me from my illness, not allowing it to develop and kill me according to my sins.
Grant me from now on, Master, the strength to firmly do Your will for the salvation of my damned soul and for Your glory with Your beginningless Father and Your consubstantial Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen."
In addition, there are petitions through which you can be saved from evil spirits. After all, as the rector of the temple, Father John repeatedly expelled the evil spirit from the human body. You can read the following words about healing from demons:
“Oh, great servant of Christ, holy righteous Father John of Kronstadt, wondrous shepherd, quick helper and merciful representative! Raising praise to the Triune God, you prayerfully cried out: “Your name is Love - do not reject me, who am erring.
Your name is Strength - strengthen me, who is exhausted and falling. Your name is Light - enlighten my soul, darkened by worldly passions. Your name is Peace - pacify my restless soul. Your name is Mercy - do not cease to have mercy on me.”
Now, grateful to your intercession, the all-Russian flock prays to you: Christ-named and righteous servant of God!
Die, most wonderful miracle worker and visionary, the peoples of our country, by the grace and gift of the Holy Spirit, deliver them from internecine warfare; Gather up the squandered, convert and unite the most precious things of the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.
By your grace, preserve marriage in peace and unanimity, grant prosperity and blessings to monastics in good deeds, give comfort to the faint-hearted, freedom to those suffering from unclean spirits, have mercy in the needs and circumstances of our lives, and guide us all on the path of salvation.
In Christ living, our Father John, lead us to the unevening light of eternal life, so that with you we may be worthy of eternal bliss, praising and exalting God forever and ever. Amen."

Glory to Thee, Father's Life, Son's Life, Soul's Life, Holy One - Simple Being - God, who always delivers us from spiritual death, caused by passions to our soul.
Glory to Thee, Trinitarian Master, for from one invocation of Thy name You enlighten the dark face of our soul and body and bestow Thy peace, which surpasses all earthly and sensual good and all understanding.”

Saint John
When in the village of Surna, Arkhangelsk region, a very sick and weak child named Ivan appeared in a poor family, no one could have imagined that he would soon begin to heal people.
His mother was a very pious and strict woman, and his father served as a psalm-reader in the church. The constant lack of money and poverty, his mother's tears and his father's gloomy silence made the boy withdrawn in character. The only thing the family could afford was to send the child to a parochial school, after which the young man entered the Theological Academy of St. Petersburg.
John envisioned his life serving the Lord as a missionary somewhere in China or America. But fate had its own way. After graduating from the academy, he was sent to serve as a spiritual father at St. Andrew's Cathedral, where he served for more than fifty years.
St. Andrew's Cathedral was located on the territory of Kronstadt. It was a place for exiled people, beggars and vagabonds. Father John saw hunger and poverty, misery and terrible living conditions in shacks here. He began to show concern for the people living in Kronstadt, who at first treated him with hostility and distrust. Father John brought food and medicine to the sick, called and paid for doctors, he distributed his last money to the poor, he could leave dressed and return naked, because he gave things to the needy. A whole line lined up at his house with an outstretched hand.
He understood that the problem could not be solved this way and, according to his project and savings, the first “House of Diligence” was built in Kronstadt, and then houses were opened throughout Russia, there were more than a hundred of them. He opened workshops, organized an orphanage and a school for poor children. He built churches and founded a convent for women in his homeland in the village of Surna.
Before his death, the priest was very ill and experienced terrible pain. The Saint died quietly and calmly after the liturgy in 1908. His relics are kept in the St. John's Monastery in St. Petersburg. During the twenties of Soviet power, it was decided to wall up the tomb of the Saint. Perhaps that is why he was canonized only in 1990, eighty years later.

During his lifetime, John of Kronstadt celebrated the Divine Liturgy every day
John each performed the Divine Liturgy. When he prayed, it seemed as if he saw God himself in front of him. Through John's prayers, many miracles began to happen. Many people began to learn about the priest’s miracles; it was published in the newspapers. People flocked to the priest for confession to hear useful advice.
The power of Father John's words has been poured out in many wonderful books. For example, “My Life in Christ” was the personal diary of the priest himself.
“My Life in Christ” - this was the personal diary of Father John of Kronstadt
In his diary, the priest often said such wonderful words, which were later included in the prayer: “Lord, Your name is Love... Your name is Strength... Your name is Light...”.
Out of many fears, letters came to the priest asking for prayer. In 1908, the priest performed the service for the last time, and then peacefully departed to the Lord. He was buried in St. Petersburg in the Ioannovsky Convent. He was glorified by the Local Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in 1990.

John of Kronstadt was born in the village of Sura, Pinega district in 1829.
John was born on October 19, 1829 in the village of Sura, Pinega district. His parents were Orthodox people, and in his family for 350 years there were only priests. The boy was sick very often, and his mother sometimes prayed to God for him all day long. The boy saw his mother praying and studied himself. From early childhood he attended church services.
One day the Lord overshadowed John of Kronstadt with His Grace, after which the boy began to make great progress in his studies
John studied rather poorly, so he prayed long and earnestly to God to give him reason. And one day the Lord showered him with grace, after which the boy began to make great progress in his studies. After school, John graduated from theological seminary and then from the academy.
A little later he got married, and together with his wife they accepted the feat of virginity. In those days, murderers were exiled to Kronstadt, John went to dugouts and basements for 5 minutes to fulfill the requirement. He often talked, consoled, and cared for the sick. Through the efforts of Father John, a house of industriousness with workshops, a school, and a kindergarten was established in the city.
Prayer requests that he wrote himself are right. John of Kronstadt
Saints who had enormous spiritual experience created more than a dozen prayers for different occasions. Nowadays they have been published several times in separate collections. By praying with words that reflect the spiritual life of a saint, we ourselves become involved in his life and enter into prayerful communication with him. That is why the scriptures are right. John is so dear to believers.
Morning prayer
Her words contain admiration for the world of God, a request to the Creator not only for the blessing of the coming day, but for changing life, for help in the fight against passions. At the same time, this is a very short prayer, because St. John most often did not have time for a long rule, constantly surrounded by people asking for his help:
God! Creator and Lord of the world! look mercifully upon Thy creation, adorned with Thy divine image in these morning hours: may Thy Eye live and enlighten, in the darkness the brightest rays of the sun are diminished, my soul I am dark and mortified by sin. Take away from me despondency and laziness, grant me joy and spiritual vigor, so that in the joy of my heart I will glorify Your goodness, holiness, Your boundless greatness, Your endless perfection ministry for every hour and in every place. For You are my Creator and the Lord of my life, Lord, and You are due glory from Your rational creatures at every hour, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
“Lord, Your name is Love...”
Perhaps this is the most famous prayer composed by the saint. Its text is placed with the relics of the saint of God in St. John's Monastery in St. Petersburg.
Thus, anyone who comes, even if he does not know the special prayers to the saint, has the opportunity to turn to him - and with him to the Lord:
"God! Your name is Love: do not reject me, an erring person.
Your name is Strength: strengthen me, who is exhausted and falling.
Your name is Light: enlighten my soul, darkened by worldly passions.
Your name is Peace: pacify my restless soul.
And Your Name is Mercy: do not cease to have mercy on me.”
From drunkenness
The prayer from drinking wine, which has healed more than one person suffering from this passion, is brief and succinct. The saint sees not just passion, but its causes, because drunkenness is generally a consequence of gluttony and intemperance. Therefore, healing an illness is possible through the knowledge of another sweetness, namely fasting and prayer:
Government, the prize -up of your slave (and and and the), the seduced by the jumper of the chreve and the carnal weight: give him (and and and and) to know the sweetness of abstinence in fasting and the fruit of the soul of the soul that is steming from him. Amen.
About healing to the Lord
There are hundreds of testimonies that when begging God to heal a sick person, the saint addressed him with his own words coming from the heart. This looked like a live conversation with the Heavenly Father, in which the righteous man boldly asked for help to the sick man. Few of these spiritual words of the saint were preserved among his notes. The righteous person remembers the words of God about the need to always knock on the doors of His mercy, the endless goodness, the mercy of the Creator:
Lord, it is possible for You to do (this) and (that) to Your servant (name); Do this to him, for Your name is the good Lover of Mankind and the Almighty. If we, the evil one, know how to give good things, not only to our children, but also to strangers, since You have given all kinds of good things to those who ask You. Good Lover of Humanity! Who created creation with one word and created man from it, visit Your fallen servant with Your ineffable love for mankind, so that the work of Your hand may not be completely destroyed. Amen.
The living words of the righteous man, who generously shared his experience, advice, and instruction with people during his lifetime, still bring many people to the Church. Their prayer to the saint merges with his own boldness to the Lord for everyone who needs help.
