Collection of short morning prayers - read in Russian

Why read prayers in the morning?

In prayer they turn not only to God: they pray to the Heavenly Powers - the angels who, after Baptism, are assigned to every Orthodox Christian - and, of course, to the Mother of God, the Intercessor of the entire human race before God. A short morning prayer is an appeal to the Lord and the saints, this is help to you from God. After all, after praying in the morning, you tune in to the wave of God’s support.

There are different prayer rules; usually they are performed with the blessing of the confessor. For example, Psalm 36 may be included in a short prayer book for morning prayers.

They also read and include in the rule the short morning prayers to John the Theologian. This is the Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian - a saint, known and revered throughout the world. He is one of the 12 apostles, called by the Orthodox Church “the hidden place of God.” Prayer to him in all centuries and today remains strong, because this is an appeal to the beloved disciple of Christ, one of his twelve closest and the only one who did not betray the Lord, remaining with him even at the Cross.

Text of the morning prayer of Seraphim of Sarov

Morning and evening prayers of Seraphim of Sarov - a short set of prayers, convenient for everyone, even the busiest person. The texts of the saint's morning and evening rules are simple. You need to read the text of “Our Father” three times. Short Orthodox morning prayers can be read according to the rule compiled by Seraphim of Saratov,

“Our Father, who is in the Kingdom of Heaven! We glorify and ask you to glorify Your holy name! Let Your Kingdom come, let Your will direct everything in heaven and on earth. Give us the food we need for the present time; and forgive us our sins, just as we forgive our insults and debts to our debtors; Let us not have the temptations of the devil, protect us Yourself from the influences of Satan and his spirits. After all, You reign in heaven and earth and demonstrate Your power and glory - the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit forever. Amen".

Prayer “Mother of God, Virgin, Rejoice” three times in Russian - you can do this according to the text on the website

“Mother of God, Virgin, rejoice, blessed Mary, the Lord is with you! You are especially blessed of all women by God and people, and the fruit of your womb is blessed: after all, you gave birth to Jesus Christ, the Savior of our souls.

And once the “Symbol of Faith”.

I believe in one God, the Father, Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, visible to all and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the only begotten, who was born of the Father before all ages; Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, uncreated, consubstantial with the Father, to whom all things were. For our sake, man and our salvation, who came down from heaven and became incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became human. Crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried. And he rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures. And ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father. And the one who is to come will judge with glory the living and the dead, His Kingdom will have no end. And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Life-Giving One, who proceeds from the Father, who is with the Father and the Son, we are worshiped and glorified, who spoke the prophets. Into one Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the remission of sins. I hope for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the next century. Amen.

And during the day, how many times can you repeat the Jesus Prayer simply or with the rosary?

“Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner”

The short morning prayer of Seraphim of Sarov is the reading of the rule that we have listed.

Lord's Prayer
(sung in the temple by all the people)

Our Father, who art in heaven! Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, as it is in heaven and on earth. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, just as we forgive our debtors; and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Psalm 50

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy, and according to the multitude of Your compassions, cleanse my iniquity. Above all, wash me from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin; For I know my iniquity, and I will bear away my sin before me. I have sinned against You alone and have done evil before You; so that you may be justified in Your words, and be victorious at any time in Your judgment. Behold, I was conceived in iniquity, and my mother gave birth to me in sins. Behold, you have loved the truth; You have shown me Your unknown and secret wisdom. Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be clean; Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. There is joy and gladness in my ears; the bones of the humble will rejoice. Turn away Your face from my sins and cleanse all my iniquities. Create a pure heart in me, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb. Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Give me the joy of Your salvation and strengthen me with the Lord’s Spirit. I will teach the wicked your way, and wickedness will turn to you. Deliver me from bloodshed, O God, God of my salvation; my tongue will rejoice in Your righteousness. Lord, open my mouth, and my mouth will declare Your praise. As if you had desired sacrifices, you would have given them; you do not favor burnt offerings. The sacrifice to God is a broken spirit; God will not despise a contrite and humble heart. Bless Zion, O Lord, with Your favor, and may the walls of Jerusalem be built. Then take pleasure in the sacrifice of righteousness, the offering and the burnt offering; Then they will place the bullock on Your altar.

Different prayers

Prayer before eating food

Our Father, who art in heaven! Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, as it is in heaven and on earth. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, just as we forgive our debtors; and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Prayer after eating food

We thank You, Christ our God, for You have filled us with Your earthly blessings; do not deprive us of Your Heavenly Kingdom, but as You came in the midst of Your disciples, Savior, give them peace, come to us and save us.

Two prayers read in times of disaster, when attacked by enemies and in any adversity

Psalm 90

1He who lives in the help of the Most High will dwell in the blood of the God of Heaven. 2 Saying of the Lord: Thou art my protector and my refuge, my God, and I trust in Him. 3 For He will deliver you from the snare of the trap, and from the words of rebellion, 4 He will overshadow you with His cloak, and under His wing you hope that His truth will surround you as a weapon. 5 Thou shalt not fear from the fear of the night, from the arrow that flies in the days, 6 from the things that pass in the darkness, from the clutter, and from the demon of the midday. 7 Thousands will fall from your country, and darkness will be at your right hand, but it will not come near you, 8 but you will look at your eyes, and you will see the reward of sinners. 9For You, O Lord, are my hope, You have made the Most High your refuge. 10 No evil will come to you, and no wound will come near your body, 11 for His angel commanded you concerning you, to keep you in all your ways. 12They will take you up in their arms, lest you dash your foot against a stone, 13tread on the asp and basilisk, and trample over the lion and the serpent. 14For I have trusted in Me, and I will deliver, and I will cover, because I have known My name. 15 He will call to Me, and I will hear him: I am with him in tribulation, I will wear him out, and I will glorify him, 16 I will fulfill him with long days, and I will show him My salvation.

Prayer to the Honest Cross

May God rise again, and may His enemies be scattered, and may those who hate Him flee from His presence. Like smoke disappears, let them disappear; As wax melts in the presence of fire, so let demons perish on behalf of those who love God and sign the sign of the cross, and say in joy: Rejoice, Most Honest and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, driving away and the demons have the power upon you of our Lord Jesus Christ, who descended into hell and trampled upon the power the devil, and who gave us Your Honest Cross to drive away every adversary. Oh, Most Honest and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord! Help me with the Holy Virgin Mary and with all the saints forever. Amen.

If I swear by Your name, or blaspheme in my thoughts; or reproach someone; or slandered someone with my anger, or made me sad, or became angry about something; either he lied, or he slept in vain, or he came to me as a beggar and despised him; or I made my brother sad, or I got married, or I condemned someone; or became proud, or became proud, or became angry; or I stand in prayer, my mind is moved by the wickedness of this world, or the corruption of my thoughts; or got too drunk, or got drunk, or laughed madly; either I had evil thoughts, or I saw someone else’s kindness, and my heart was wounded by it; or dissimilar to the verbs, or they laughed at my brother’s sin, but mine is an innumerable sin; Or I didn’t remember about prayer, or I don’t remember what I did that was evil, because all and more of these things I did. Have mercy on me, my Creator Master, Thy despondent and unworthy servant, and leave me, and let me go, and forgive me, for I am Good and Lover of Mankind, so that I may lie down in peace, sleep and rest, O prodigal sinner. I am the accursed and accursed one, and I will worship and sing , and I will glorify Your most honorable name, with the Father and His Only Begotten Son, now and forever, and forever. Amen.

Text of morning prayer to John the Theologian 1000

Evangelist John the Theologian was the only one of the apostles who received a Revelation about the future destinies of the world from the Lord, becoming a witness of God's omnipotence and leaving this testimony to humanity in the book “Apocalypse.” He became the only one of all the apostles, of all the disciples of Christ (except for the myrrh-bearing women) who did not hide when the Son of God was crucified. At the end of his life, it was difficult for him not only to walk, but also to speak, and his students asked for instructions. Then he repeated one thing: “Love one another, my children. Keeping this commandment of God is enough to enter into eternal life.” John the Theologian is not just an apostle and prayer book. The Lord gave him the gift of miracles and prophecies for his loyalty, purity and devotion. At the moments of the Lord’s death on the cross, he showed himself to be his true friend. John the Theologian stood at the Cross, next to the Mother of God, empathizing and compassionate with Christ. His faith in God was not destroyed even in these terrible moments, remaining strong and unshakable.

Your lips, like the brightness of fire, shining with grace, enlighten the universe: do not win the treasures of the world through the love of money, show us the height of humility of mind, but punish with your words, Father John Chrysostom Thank you, pray to the Word of Christ God to save our souls.

Kontakion, tone 6:

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

You have received Divine grace from heaven, and with your lips you taught us all to worship the one God in the Trinity, John Chrysostom, most blessed saint, we deserve to praise you: you are a mentor , like a divine manifestation.

And now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Text of a short prayer book, morning prayers, Psalm 36 2300

Many of our contemporaries visit Orthodox churches, discovering the power of prayer, turning to the Lord and the Sacraments of the Church. Pray every morning, read holy words, for example, the Psalm of David.

Do not be jealous of those who are evil, nor be jealous of those who commit lawlessness. Like the grass, the grass will soon dry up, like the potion of grain will soon disappear. Trust in the Lord and do goodness, and populate the earth, and enjoy its wealth. Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will grant you the petitions of your heart. Open your way to the Lord and trust in Him, and He will do it: and He will bring forth your righteousness like the light and your destiny like the noonday. Obey the Lord and beg Him. Do not be jealous of the one who sleeps on his way, the person who commits a crime. Stop being angry and abandon rage, do not be jealous or cunning. Those who are evil will be consumed, but those who endure the Lord will inherit the earth. And yet a little, and there will be no sinner, and you will seek his place, and will not find it. The meek ones will inherit the earth and enjoy the abundance of the world. The sinner despises the righteous and gnashes his teeth. The Lord will laugh at him, and will see for sure that his day will come. The sinner has drawn the sword, strained her bow, cast down the wretched and the poor, and slain the upright in heart. Let their sword enter into their hearts, and let their bows be broken. A little is better for the righteous than much for the riches of sinners. The sinners' muscles will be broken, but the Lord confirms the righteous. The Lord knows the way of the blameless, and their success will endure forever. They will not be ashamed in times of cruelty, and in days of famine they will be satisfied, as sinners will perish. Defeat the Lord, become famous for them and ascend, vanishing like smoke. The sinner borrows and does not pay back, but the righteous is generous and gives. For those who bless Him will inherit the earth, but those who curse Him will be consumed. From the Lord, man’s feet are straightened, and his ways are greatly admired. When he falls, he will not be broken, for the Lord strengthens his hand. The youngest was, for he grew old, and did not see the righteous man left, below his seed asking for bread. All day long the righteous man shows mercy and gives back, and his seed will be a blessing. Turn away from evil and do good, and dwell in the age of the century. For the Lord loves judgment and will not forsake His saints, they will be preserved forever. The wicked will become wives, and the seed of the wicked will be consumed. The righteous will inherit the earth and dwell in it forever and ever. The mouth of the righteous will learn wisdom, and his tongue will speak judgment. The law of his God is in his heart, and his feet will not falter. The sinner looks at the righteous and seeks to kill him. The Lord will not leave him in his hand; he will judge him lower when he judges him. Be patient with the Lord and preserve His path, and He will exalt you to inherit the earth, never to be consumed by a sinner. I saw the wicked exalted and towering like the cedars of Lebanon. And he passed by, and behold, he was not there, and sought him, and his place was not found. Maintain kindness and see righteousness, for there is a remnant for a peaceful man. The wicked will be consumed together; the remnants of the wicked will be consumed. The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord, and their Protector is in time of trouble. And the Lord will help them, and deliver them, and remove them from sinners, and save them, because they trusted in Him.

In order for a job to be done successfully, we must first of all ask God for blessings and help for the upcoming work, and upon completion, thank God. To express our feelings towards God and His saints, the Church has given various prayers.

Initial prayer

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

It is said before all prayers. In it we ask God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, that is, the Most Holy Trinity, to invisibly bless us for the upcoming work in His name.

God bless!

We say this prayer at the beginning of every task.

Lord have mercy!

This prayer is the oldest and common among all Christians. Even a child can easily remember it. We say it when we remember our sins. For the glory of the Holy Trinity, we must say it three times. And also 12 times, asking God for a blessing for every hour of the day and night. And 40 times - for the sanctification of our entire life.

Prayer of praise to the Lord God

Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.

In this prayer we do not ask God for anything, but only glorify Him. It can be said in short: “Glory to God.” It is pronounced at the end of the task as a sign of our gratitude to God for His mercies to us.

Publican's Prayer

God, be merciful to me, a sinner.

This is the prayer of a publican (tax collector) who repented of his sins and received forgiveness. It is taken from a parable that the Savior once told people for their understanding. This is the parable. Two people entered the temple to pray. One of them was a Pharisee, and the other was a tax collector. The Pharisee stood in front of everyone and prayed to God like this: I thank you, God, that I am not such a sinner as that tax collector. I give a tenth of my property to the poor, and I fast twice a week. And the publican, recognizing himself as a sinner, stood at the entrance to the temple and did not dare to raise his eyes to heaven. He hit himself on the chest and said: “God, be merciful to me, a sinner!” The prayer of the humble publican was more pleasant and pleasing to God than the prayer of the proud Pharisee.

Prayer to the Lord Jesus

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God - the second Person of the Holy Trinity. As the Son of God, He is our true God, as are God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. We call Him Jesus, that is, Savior , because He saved us from sins and eternal death. For this, He, being the Son of God, dwelt in the most immaculate Virgin Mary and, with the influx of the Holy Spirit, became incarnate and became man from Her , that is, He took on the body and soul of a man - was born from the Blessed Virgin Mary, became the same person as we are , but only he was sinless - he became a God-man . And, instead of us suffering and tormenting for our sins, He, out of love for us sinners, suffered for us, died on the cross and rose again on the third day - conquered sin and death and gave us eternal life. Realizing our sinfulness and not relying on the power of our prayers, in this prayer we ask you to pray for us sinners, before the Savior, all the saints and the Mother of God, who has the special grace to save us sinners through Her intercession before Her Son. The Savior is called the Anointed One (Christ) because He fully had those gifts of the Holy Spirit, which in the Old Testament kings, prophets and high priests received through anointing.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Heavenly King, Comforter, Soul of truth, who is everywhere and fulfills everything, treasure of good things and Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all filth, and save, O Good One, our souls.

Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of truth, present everywhere and filling everything, source of all good and Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all sin, and save, O Good One, our souls.

In this prayer we pray to the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Holy Trinity. In it we call the Holy Spirit the King of Heaven because He, as the true God, equal to God the Father and God the Son, invisibly reigns over us, owns us and the whole world. We call Him the Comforter because He consoles us in our sorrows and misfortunes, just as He consoled the apostles on the 10th day after the ascension of Jesus Christ into heaven. We call Him the Spirit of truth (as the Savior Himself called Him) because He, as the Holy Spirit, teaches everyone the same truth and serves our salvation. He is God, and He is everywhere and fills everything with Himself: Who is everywhere and fulfills everything . He, as the ruler of the whole world, sees everything and, where needed, gives. He is the treasure of good things , that is, the Guardian of all good deeds, the Source of all the good things that we need to have. We call the Holy Spirit the Giver of life because everything in the world lives and moves by the Holy Spirit, that is, everything receives life from Him, and especially people receive from Him spiritual, holy and eternal life beyond the grave, being cleansed through Him from their sins. If the Holy Spirit has such wondrous properties: it is everywhere, fills everything with His grace and gives life to everyone, then we turn to Him with the following requests: Come and dwell in us , that is, constantly abide in us, as in your temple; cleanse us from all defilement , that is, from sin, make us saints worthy of Your presence in us, and save, O Good One, our souls from sins and those punishments that come for sins, and through this grant us the Kingdom of Heaven.

Angelic Hymn to the Most Holy Trinity or “Trisagion”

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us.

This prayer must be read three times in honor of the three Persons of the Holy Trinity. an angelic song because the holy angels sing it, surrounding the throne of God in heaven. Believers in Christ began to use it 400 years after the birth of Christ. There was a strong earthquake in Constantinople, from which houses and villages were destroyed. Frightened, Tsar Theodosius II and the people turned to God in prayer. During this general prayer, one pious youth (boy), in full view of everyone, was raised to heaven by an invisible force, and then lowered to earth unharmed. He said that he heard in heaven the holy angels singing: “Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal.” The touched people, repeating this prayer, added: “Have mercy on us,” and the earthquake stopped. In this prayer, God the first Person of the Holy Trinity - God the Father; Strong - God the Son, because He is as omnipotent as God the Father, although according to humanity He suffered and died; Immortal - the Holy Spirit, because He is not only eternal, like the Father and the Son, but also gives life to all creatures and immortal life to people. Since in this prayer the word “ holy ” is repeated three times, it is called “ Trisagion ”.

Doxology to the Most Holy Trinity

Glory to the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

In this prayer we do not ask God for anything, but only glorify Him, who appeared to people in three Persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, to whom now and forever belongs the same honor of glorification.

Prayer to the Holy Trinity

Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us; Lord, cleanse our sins; Master, forgive our iniquities; Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Thy name's sake.

This prayer is one of petition. In it we turn first to all three Persons together, and then to each Person of the Trinity separately: to God the Father, so that He may cleanse our sins; to God the Son, so that He may forgive our iniquities; to God the Holy Spirit, so that He may visit and heal our infirmities. And the words: for Thy name's sake refer again to all three Persons of the Holy Trinity together, and since God is One, He has one name, and therefore we say “Thy name,” and not “Thy names.”

Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven! 1. Hallowed be thy name. 2. Thy kingdom come. 3. Thy will be done as it is in heaven and on earth. 4. Give us this day our daily bread. 5. And forgive us our debts, just as we forgive our debtors. 6. And do not lead us into temptation. 7. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

This prayer is called the Lord's Prayer because the Lord Jesus Christ Himself gave it to His disciples when they asked Him to teach them how to pray. Therefore, this prayer is the most important prayer of all. In this prayer we turn to God the Father, the first Person of the Holy Trinity. It is divided into: invocation , seven petitions, or 7 requests, and doxology . Summoning:

Our Father, who art in heaven!

With these words we turn to God and, calling Him Heavenly Father, we urge him to listen to our requests or petitions. When we say that He is in heaven, we must mean the spiritual, invisible sky, and not that visible blue vault that we call “heaven.” Request 1st:

Hallowed be Thy Name,

that is, help us to live righteously, holyly and glorify Your name with our holy deeds. 2nd:

May your kingdom come

that is, honor us here on earth with Your heavenly kingdom, which is truth, love and peace; reign in us and rule us. 3rd:

Thy will be done as it is in heaven and on earth

, that is, let everything not be as we want, but as You please, and help us to obey this Your will and fulfill it on earth as unquestioningly, without grumbling, as it is fulfilled, with love and joy, by the holy angels in heaven . Because only You know what is useful and necessary for us, and You wish us good more than we ourselves. 4th:

Give us our daily bread today

, that is, give us for this day, for today, our daily bread. By bread here we mean everything necessary for our life on earth: food, clothing, housing, but most importantly - the most pure Body and the honorable Blood in the sacrament of holy communion, without which there is no salvation, no eternal life. The Lord commanded us to ask for ourselves not wealth, not luxury, but only the bare necessities, and to rely on God in everything, remembering that He, as a Father, always takes care of us. 5?e:

And forgive us our debts, just as we forgive our debtors.

, that is, forgive us our sins just as we ourselves forgive those who have offended or offended us. In this petition, our sins are called “our debts,” because the Lord gave us strength, abilities and everything else in order to do good deeds, and we often turn all this into sin and evil and become “debtors” before God. And so, if we ourselves do not sincerely forgive our “debtors,” that is, people who have sins against us, then God will not forgive us. The Lord Jesus Christ Himself told us about this. 6th:

And do not lead us into temptation

. Temptation is a state when something or someone draws us to sin, tempts us to do something lawless and bad. So we ask: do not allow us to fall into temptation, which we do not know how to endure; help us overcome temptations when they happen. 7th:

But deliver us from evil

, that is, deliver us from all evil in this world and from the culprit (chief) of evil - from the devil (evil spirit), who is always ready to destroy us. Deliver us from this cunning, crafty power and its deceptions, which is nothing before You. Doxology:

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

For to You, our God, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, belongs the kingdom and the power and the eternal glory. All this is true, truly so.

Angelic greeting to the Mother of God

Virgin Mary, Rejoice, Blessed Mary, the Lord is with You, blessed are You among women, and blessed is the fruit of Your womb, for You have given birth to the Savior of our souls.

This prayer is to the Most Holy Theotokos, whom we call grace-filled, that is, filled with the grace of the Holy Spirit, and blessed of all women, because our Savior Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was pleased, or desired, to be born from Her. This prayer is also called an angelic greeting, since it contains the words of an angel (Archangel Gabriel): Hail, full of grace Mary, the Lord is with you, blessed are you among women , which he said to the Virgin Mary when he appeared to Her in the city of Nazareth to announce She has great joy that the Savior of the world will be born from Her. Also, blessed are You among women and blessed is the Fruit of Your womb , said the Virgin Mary, when meeting Her, righteous Elizabeth, the mother of St. John the Baptist. the Mother of God because Jesus Christ, born of Her, is our true God. a Virgin because before the birth of Christ She was a Virgin and at Christmas and after Christmas she remained the same, since she made a vow (promise) to God not to marry, and remaining a Virgin forever, she gave birth to Her Son from the Holy Spirit in a miraculous way.

Song of praise to the Mother of God

It is worthy to eat as truly to bless Thee, Theotokos, ever-blessed and most immaculate and Mother of our God. We magnify You, the most honorable cherub and the most glorious seraphim without comparison, who gave birth to God the Word without corruption.

It is truly worthy to glorify You, Mother of God, always blessed and completely blameless and the Mother of our God. You are worthy of veneration more than the cherubim and in Your glory incomparably higher than the seraphim, You gave birth to God the Word (Son of God) without illness, and as the true Mother of God we glorify You.

In this prayer we praise the Mother of God as the Mother of our God, always blessed and completely immaculate, and we magnify Her, saying that She, with Her honor (most honorable) and glory (most glorious), surpasses the highest angels: the cherubim and seraphim, that is, the Mother of God in her own way. perfection stands above everyone - not only people, but also holy angels. Without illness, she miraculously gave birth to Jesus Christ from the Holy Spirit, who, having become man from Her, is at the same time the Son of God who came down from heaven, and therefore She is the true Mother of God.

The shortest prayer to the Mother of God

Most Holy Theotokos, save us!

In this prayer, we ask the Mother of God to save us sinners with Her holy prayers before Her Son and our God.

Prayer to the Life-Giving Cross

Save, O Lord, Thy people and bless Thy inheritance; giving victory to the Orthodox Christian against the resistance, and preserving Your residence by Your Cross.

Save, Lord, Your people and bless everything that belongs to You. Grant victory to Orthodox Christians against their enemies and preserve through the power of Your Cross those among whom You dwell.

In this prayer we ask God to save us, His people, and bless the Orthodox country - our fatherland - with great mercies; gave victories to Orthodox Christians over their enemies and, in general, preserved us by the power of His Cross.

Prayer to the Guardian Angel

To the Angel of God, my holy guardian, given to me by God from heaven, I diligently pray to you: enlighten me today, save me from all evil, guide me to good deeds and direct me on the path of salvation. Amen.

Angel of God, my holy guardian, given to me from heaven by God for my protection, I earnestly pray to you: enlighten me now, and save me from all evil, guide me to good deeds and direct me on the path of salvation. Amen.

At baptism, God gives every Christian a Guardian Angel, who invisibly protects a person from all evil. Therefore, we must ask the angel every day to preserve and have mercy on us.

Prayer to the saint

Pray to God for me, holy [holy] (name), as I diligently resort to you, a quick helper and prayer book [quick helper and prayer book] for my soul.

In addition to praying to the Guardian Angel, we must also pray to that saint by whose name we are called, because he also always prays to God for us. Every Christian, as soon as he is born into the light of God, at holy baptism, is given a saint as a helper and patron by the Holy Church. He takes care of the newborn like the most loving mother, and protects him from all the troubles and misfortunes that a person encounters on earth. You need to know the day of remembrance in the year of your saint (your name day), know the life (description of life) of this saint. On his name day we must glorify him with prayer in church and receive St. communion, and if for some reason we cannot be in church on this day, then we must pray fervently at home.

Prayer for the living

We must think not only about ourselves, but also about other people, love them and pray to God for them, because we are all children of one Heavenly Father. Such prayers are useful not only for those for whom we pray, but also for ourselves, since we thereby show love for them. And the Lord told us that without love no one can be children of God. “Do not renounce prayer for others under the pretext of fear that you cannot pray for yourself; fear that you will not beg for yourself if you do not pray for others” (St. Philaret the Merciful). Home prayer for family and friends is distinguished by special energy, since we see before our inner gaze that person dear to us, for the salvation of the soul and for whose physical health we pray. Father Men said in one of his sermons: “Daily prayer for each other should not be a simple listing of names. This is us (clergy. –

Ed.

) in church we list your names, we don’t know who you are praying for here. And when you yourself pray for your loved ones, friends, relatives, for those who are in need - pray truly, with persistence... Pray for them, so that their path will be blessed, so that the Lord will support and meet them - and then we all , as if holding hands with this prayer and love, we will rise higher and higher to the Lord. This is the main thing, this is the most essential thing in our life.” We must pray for our Fatherland - Russia, for the country in which we live, for our spiritual father, parents, relatives, benefactors, Orthodox Christians and all people, both for the living and for the dead, because with God everyone is alive (Lk. 20, 38).

Save, Lord, and have mercy on my spiritual father (his name), my parents (their names), relatives, mentors and benefactors and all Orthodox Christians.

Prayer for the dead

Rest, O Lord, the souls of your departed servants (names) and all my departed relatives and benefactors, and forgive them all their sins, voluntary and involuntary, and grant them the kingdom of heaven.

This is what we call the dead because people are not destroyed after death, but their souls are separated from the body and move from this life to another, heavenly one. There they remain until the time of the general resurrection, which will occur at the second coming of the Son of God, when, according to His word, the souls of the dead will again unite with the body - people will come to life and be resurrected. And then everyone will receive what they deserve: the righteous will receive the Kingdom of Heaven, blessed, eternal life, and sinners will receive eternal punishment.

Prayer before teaching

Most gracious Lord, bestow upon us the grace of Your Holy Spirit, bestowing meaning and strengthening our spiritual strength, so that, by heeding the teaching taught to us, we may grow to You, our Creator, for glory, as our parent for consolation, for the benefit of the Church and the Fatherland.

This prayer is to God the Father, Whom we call the Creator, that is, the Creator. In it we ask Him to send the Holy Spirit so that He, through His grace, will strengthen our spiritual strength (mind, heart and will), and so that we, listening with attention to the teaching taught, will grow up as devoted sons of the Church and faithful servants of our fatherland and as a consolation to our parents. Instead of this prayer, before teaching, you can read the prayer to the Holy Spirit “Heavenly King.”

Prayer after teaching

We thank You, Creator, for You have made us worthy of Your grace by paying attention to the teaching. Bless our leaders, parents and teachers, who lead us to the knowledge of good, and give us strength and strength to continue this teaching.

This prayer is to God the Father. In it, we first thank God that He sent help to understand the teaching being taught. Then we ask Him to send mercy to our parents and teachers, who give us the opportunity to learn everything good and useful; and in conclusion, we ask you to give us health and the desire to continue our studies with success. Instead of this prayer, after the teaching, you can read the prayer of the Mother of God “It is worthy to eat.”

Prayer before eating food

The eyes of all trust in You, Lord, and You give them food in good season: You open Your generous hand and fulfill every animal good will.

(Psalm 144, 15 and 16 v.).

The eyes of everyone, Lord, look at You with hope, since You give food to everyone in due time, opening Your generous hand to bestow mercies on all living.

In this prayer we express confidence that God will send us food in due time, since He provides not only people, but also all living creatures with everything they need for life. Instead of this prayer, you can read “Our Father.”

Prayer after eating food

We thank Thee, Christ our God, for Thou hast filled us with Thy earthly blessings; do not deprive us of Your Heavenly Kingdom.

In this prayer, we thank God for feeding us with food, and we ask Him not to deprive us of eternal bliss after our death, which we should always remember when receiving earthly blessings.

Morning prayer

To You, Master who loves mankind, having risen from sleep, I come running, and I strive for Your works with Your mercy, and I pray to You: help me at all times in every thing, and deliver me from all worldly evil things and the devil’s haste, and save me, and bring us into Your eternal kingdom. For You are my Creator and the Provider and Giver of every good thing, in You are all my hopes, and I send up glory to You, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

To You, Lord Lover of Mankind, having risen from sleep, I come running and, by Your mercy, I hasten to Your deeds. I pray to You: help me at all times in every matter, and deliver me from every worldly evil deed and devilish temptation, and save me, and bring me into Your eternal kingdom. For You are my Creator and Provider, and the Giver of all good. All my hope is in You. And I give glory to You, now and always, and to the ages of eternity. Amen.

Evening prayer

Lord our God, who have sinned in these days in word, deed and thought, as he is good and a lover of mankind, forgive me; grant me peaceful sleep and serenity; Send Thy guardian angel to cover and keep me from all evil; for You are the guardian of our souls and bodies, and to You we send glory to the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Lord our God! Everything in which I have sinned this day in word, deed and thought, You, as the Merciful and Humane One, forgive me. Give me a peaceful and restful sleep. Send me Your Guardian Angel, who would cover and protect me from all evil. For You are the guardian of our souls and bodies, and we give glory to You, to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and always, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

How to read prayers in the morning, reading rule

When praying, you need to speak to God with faith in Him, with humility in accepting His will for you - and the Lord will always manage everything for the better, you just have to ask Him about it through prayer. Remember, even if it seems that everything is going wrong, pray, do not give up prayer - God knows best what is best for us.

Prayer is usually performed in front of icons; although this is not necessary, it is desirable. After all, when we are apart from our loved ones, we want to see them, we look at their photographs. So it is with God and the saints - it is easier to speak from the heart, seeing holy icons - their images, images. You can light a candle or even burn incense, a fragrant, resinous substance.

The timing of reading a prayer is a complex issue. It is customary to pray in the morning and evening according to the prayer book (in the sections “Morning Rule” and “Evening Rule”). Few modern people have time to do this. But after morning prayer, wings grow! You can pray the rosary throughout the day. And you can pray in difficult circumstances as much as your soul asks - the main thing is not to be proud of the fact that you prayed for a long time, because this is the need to talk with God, as if having a conversation with a Friend to whom you tell your sorrows and ask for help.

Be sincere, don’t be afraid of your emotions, tell God about them, for example: “Lord, I feel so bad, I’m so upset, show me what to do, calm me down!” Short morning prayers should be read in Russian from the heart.

It is important not so much to read prayers over time, but to live church life in general. Try to attend services in church and begin the Sacraments of Confession and Communion. Remember that these are not rituals, but a living spiritual life, the health of the soul.

For any Orthodox person, turning to God means His glorification, thanksgiving, and asking for one’s needs. Christians say their prayers to the Almighty, since He is the Creator and Father of all life on earth. The Lord takes care of every person, gives benefits that people enjoy, therefore all Orthodox Christians are His children, and He is their loving Father, to whom the prayers of believers are dedicated.

A short prayer book for the laity is a reference book for all Christian believers who begin and end each day with prayer. For convenience, the Orthodox prayer book for beginning Christians presents the most common types of Orthodox prayers - morning prayers, evening prayers, for Holy Communion, the holy icons of the Mother of God, the Guardian Angel and all the saints. In order for the meaning of the prayers to be clear to those who have recently found faith in the Lord, you can buy a short Orthodox prayer book with a translation into Russian in Orthodox shops or online stores or download it for free in Epub, FB2, pdf, WORD format (.doc).

When to use a short prayer book

In the Orthodox tradition, for many centuries there has been one prayer rule that all Christian believers around the world adhere to. You should begin your day with prayer to thank the Lord for keeping you through the night and asking for His blessing on the coming day. For this it is very convenient to use a short prayer book

for the laity with morning and evening prayers. Prayers should be said before starting any business to ask for help from the Lord, and also, at the end of it, to thank for the help and success in the business. Prayers before eating, so that the Lord will bless her with health, and after eating, in order to thank God, are considered obligatory. Those who find it difficult to understand the Church Slavonic language can use Orthodox prayer books with translation. In the evening they pray before going to bed to thank God for the day that was lived and for keeping the believer through the night. Special prayers are prescribed by the Orthodox Church for the most important services - on Christian holidays, divine fasts and Sundays.

In addition to prayers to God, the short prayer book for new Christians also contains prayers to the Mother of God, whom we honor as the Intercessor and Intercessor before the Lord for every Christian.

Orthodox psalter text psalm 94

Come, let us sing to the Lord, let us shout to God, the rock of our salvation; Let us stand before His face with praise, and let us exclaim to Him in songs, for the Lord is the great God and the great King over all gods. The depths of the earth are in His hand, and the tops of the mountains are His; The sea is His, and He made it, and His hands formed the dry land. Come, let us bow down and kneel before the face of the Lord, our Creator; for He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand. Oh, that you would now listen to His voice: “Harden not your hearts, as at Meribah, as in the day of temptation in the wilderness, where your fathers tempted Me, tried Me, and saw My work. For forty years I was provoked by this generation, and I said, “This is a people who are deceived in heart; they have not known My ways, and therefore I have sworn in My wrath that they should not enter My rest.”

Christian Psalm 95 text in Russian

Sing a new song to the Lord; sing to the Lord, all the earth; sing to the Lord, bless His name, preach His salvation from day to day; proclaim His glory among the nations, His wonders among all nations; for the Lord is great and highly praised, and he is terrible above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord created the heavens. Glory and majesty are before Him, power and splendor are in His sanctuary. Give to the Lord, O tribes of nations, give to the Lord glory and honor; Give glory to the Lord to His name, bring gifts and go into His courts; worship the Lord in the splendor of the sanctuary. Tremble before His face, all the earth! Tell the nations: The Lord reigns! Therefore the universe is solid and will not be shaken. He will judge the nations with justice. Let the heavens rejoice and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar and fill it; let the field rejoice and all that is in it, and let all the trees of the grove rejoice before the face of the Lord; for he is coming, for he is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world according to righteousness, and the nations according to His truth.

Text of Psalm 96 in Russian

The Lord reigns: let the earth rejoice; let the numerous islands rejoice. Cloud and darkness surround Him; righteousness and judgment are the foundation of His throne. Fire comes before Him and burns His enemies around. His lightning illuminates the world; the earth sees and trembles. The mountains melt like wax from the face of the Lord, from the face of the Lord of all the earth. The heavens declare His righteousness, and all nations see His glory. Let all those who serve idols, those who boast in idols, be ashamed. Bow down before Him, all you gods. Zion hears and rejoices, and the daughters of Judah rejoice because of Your judgments, O Lord, for You, O Lord, are high above all the earth, exalted above all gods. Lovers of the Lord, hate evil! He guards the souls of His saints; He delivers them from the hand of the wicked. Light shines on the righteous, and joy on the upright in heart. Rejoice, O righteous ones, in the Lord and glorify the memory of His holiness.
