What is work for you? For some, work is a way of making money, a favorite hobby, a hated place, torment and suffering. Everyone has their own attitude and situation. No matter how life turns out, work is needed and nothing can be done about it. Our ancestors turned to saints when looking for employment. Usually they turned to Saint Nicholas in prayer. Prayer to Nicholas the Wonderworker for work will help you cope with all the difficulties that you may encounter in the field of employment.
Everyone knows that getting a good job is becoming more and more difficult every year. Conditions become worse, pay drops, work hours increase, overtime appears, and even you have to work on weekends. No one will have any desire to hold on to such a job. I don’t have enough strength to devote time to my family and myself. And despite all your efforts, you still don’t receive the salary that would be enough for a normal life. You should never despair and give up. There is always a way out in all situations.
The Holy Pleasant always helped everyone in finding a job . How to do it? There is nothing complicated, everything is very simple. Create in your head a complete image of the desired job, down to the smallest details. The more clearly you formulate your request, the more the holy image will help you.
When is the best time to pray for your request to be heard? Women can go to church on women's days, and men on men's days and pray about finding a job. It is important to know that you should not tell anyone that you asked for help from the holy face. You can only share after you achieve what you want. It is important to know that if you decide to share with someone that you asked for help from a saint, then there is every chance that your request will not come true.

The Meaning of Prayer for Work
Work is an integral part of the life of a modern person. Thanks to it, material wealth is achieved and a person’s self-realization is achieved. But for many people, finding a decent and adequately paid job due to certain circumstances (age, working conditions) causes difficulties. Orthodox Christians turn to God in prayer in a variety of situations, even in search of employment. There is nothing bad in this. Turning to the Lord through the saints gives believers more hope for the fulfillment of their requests - for example, a prayer to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker for help in their work.
“Even if we had no hope of salvation, as soon as God pleases (to help us), we will not need anyone’s help, and God’s help alone will provide us with everything,” taught St. John Chrysostom (347-407) .

It happens that people begin to look for special prayers to get what they want. But prayer is not a magic formula, after reading which everything will be immediately resolved and found. Prayer is communication, a request to God, His Mother or the saints. Moreover, the Mother of God and the saints are only intercessors before the Lord. Help for believers comes directly from God.
“Everything works out if you know how to endure and trust God” (Patriarch of Serbia Pavel, 1914-2009).
How does prayer help?
In Rus', Saint Nicholas is revered everywhere. After prayers to Christ and the Mother of God, they always remember Saint Nicholas. Such love is explained by the fact that the saint willingly responds to the requests of those praying. A prayer to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker for help in work will help you find success and find a job you like with a good salary.
There is much evidence that in times of danger, Saint Nicholas appears in the form of an old man and helps.
In prayer for work you can ask for the following:
- about good earnings;
- about a new job;
- about help in searching, to find a good job, to get hired in the desired position;
- about helping with things at work so that everything works out;
- about money and well-being;
- so as not to be fired from work;
- protect from problems at work, from conflicts with colleagues and superiors.
It is advisable to read Orthodox prayers from a prayer book in Church Slavonic. But you can also pray in Russian, formulating requests in your own words. Both will be heard by the saint. It is believed that ready-made prayers are the most powerful, since they are written by people with special holiness of life.
There is no exact list of what to pray to the saint for. If a person finds himself in any difficult situation and wants to pray to a specific saint, then his request will definitely be heard.
If you need to intensify your prayer when looking for a job, order a prayer service to the saint “before starting a good deed.” To do this, a note is left in the icon shop with the names of the baptized and for whom to pray. If a raise or increase in salary is required, you can indicate the names of the heads of the enterprise or department.
Petitions can be read for oneself or for another; you can also pray for loved ones, for example, a mother can spiritually support her daughter, son, or husband.
Help from St. Nicholas the Wonderworker
A particularly revered saint in Russia and other Orthodox countries is St. Nicholas of Myra, who lived in the 3rd-4th century in Asia Minor (Turkey). People turn to him with prayers in various life situations. During his lifetime, he became famous as a merciful helper in a wide variety of human troubles and needs. There are known cases when Saint Nicholas spared innocent people from the death penalty, resurrected the dead, and financially helped those in need.
And after his bodily death, the saint does not leave believers without help. For the numerous miracles associated with the name of St. Nicholas the Pleasant, he is revered by people of other faiths. For example, explorers of Siberia have repeatedly found icons of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the dwellings of the pagan indigenous peoples of the North. Native Siberians believe that by calling on the name of the saint, they will immediately receive help. That’s why they call Nicholas “the good old man.”
Saint Nicholas is also revered by Muslim Turks. There is evidence that even in the Middle Ages they kept icons of St. Nicholas the Pleasant on their galleys. Thus, Muslims hoped to receive help in getting rid of troubles and dangers at sea.
Prayer of gratitude to Nicholas the Ugodnik
Nikolai Ugodniche! I address you as a teacher and shepherd with faith and respect, with love and admiration.
I send you words of gratitude and pray for a prosperous life. I say thank you very much, I hope for mercy and forgiveness. For sins, for thoughts, but for thoughts.
As you have mercy on all sinners, have mercy on me. From terrible trials and from vain death. Amen.
A prayer of thanks to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker is read at dawn, in solitude and peace.
Prayer to Nicholas the Wonderworker for help in work
If a person wants to use “for its intended purpose” the prayer to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker for help in his work, then it does not exist as such. However, believers can turn to the saint in their own words, asking for help in their life situation. For example, in finding a job or maintaining your current place of employment under difficult life circumstances.
In order for the prayer to be heard and the Lord to give help through Saint Nicholas, Elder Paisiy Svyatogorets (1924-1994) advised:
“Feel humble that God will help you. A humble person has no will of his own; he is obedient to the will of God and follows His commandments, therefore God hears his prayer and gives him a heavenly blessing. To the extent that a person listens to God, the Good God listens to him.”
Prayer to Nicholas to find a job
“I turn to you, Saint Nicholas, and ask for miraculous help. May your search for a new job be successful, and may all difficulties suddenly dissolve. Let the boss not be angry, but let the matter go smoothly. Let the salary be paid, and you like the work. If an envious person shows up, let his anger fall apart. Forgive me for all my sins and do not leave me as before in difficult days. Let it be so. Amen".
Then you can add your own words to it. It is better to read before the image; if possible, go to church for this, light a candle, try to fully concentrate on your conversion.
It is important that there are only pure, bright thoughts in your heart. Perhaps someone wishes you harm, is plotting - such a person should be sincerely forgiven, otherwise negative energy will not allow your request to rise to heaven. The soul must be pure; you cannot wish harm on anyone. Ask the saint to reason with your offender and protect him from the influence of demons.
When you ask for help, this does not mean that you can sit with your hands folded. You also need to act independently:
- view job postings;
- call, arrange interviews;
- try to improve your level, gain knowledge.
The appeal will be especially effective on the day of the church celebration, December 19th. You need to attend the service, and after it ask St. Nicholas for whatever you want. The monk hears all requests, but fulfills only those made for the well-being of the family or loved ones.
Miracles according to prayers to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker
In 1988, the St. Nicholas Church in the city of Zelenogorsk (Leningrad Region) was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church. When restoration work began on it, a 70-year-old old woman came. She insisted that she be given some physical work. It turned out that Saint Nicholas the Pleasant appeared to her in a dream. He said that he had helped her all his life, now it was her turn to help him. And since restoration work began in the city in the St. Nicholas Church, the old woman interpreted this vision as an order from above.
In 1997, Alexey, a resident of Tallinn (Estonia), found himself in a difficult financial situation: his pension was not enough, he and his wife could not find work. In the church in the name of St. Nicholas, of which he was a parishioner, Alexey told the priest about his problem. To this he received advice to turn to the holy Pleasant of God for help. After praying at the icon, the man did not even light a candle due to lack of money. The next day, an acquaintance called him with a job offer. And soon on Wednesday, another friend also offered an option to make money.
In October 2008, Moscow resident Yulia A. quit her job. For three months at the height of the financial crisis, she could not find a job. As a result, the woman found herself in a difficult financial situation. Then, on the advice of the priest of the local church, Julia began to pray to St. Nicholas the Pleasant. A week later she received offers from three companies at once. So Nicholas the Wonderworker helped me find a job in my specialty and with a decent salary.
At the end of 2022, Moscow resident Evgenia worked in an organization where wages were paid unstable. She started looking for a job in her specialty, but there was no option with a good level of income. On the eve of the feast day of St. Nicholas, she visited the St. Daniel Monastery, where a particle of the saint’s relics is located. At home, Evgenia decided to read an akathist to the holy saint of God. On the same day, she “accidentally” met a neighbor at the entrance, with whom she shared her problem. The next day she was offered a job in her specialty with a decent salary.
Is it possible to pray for money?
Many believers consider it a sin to ask the Lord and saints for money. But in fact, the Orthodox Church has nothing against money, since it is necessary for the life of any person. The main thing is to manage the money received correctly.
Despite the fact that Jesus Christ was not rich and was content with little, the Lord rewarded righteous people with wealth. As an example, the shepherd David, who became the king of Israel.
Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker also helped those in need of money. The saint threw bags of gold to the family's ruined father, who, out of despair, was ready to send his daughters to fornication. Thanks to this money, spent on a dowry, the girls were able to get married without sin. That is why believers turn to Nikolai Ugodnik to help resolve financial difficulties.
But you cannot ask for money for entertainment and luxury. Money should not be an end in itself. Praying for selfish purposes is considered a sin. Financial support from the saint is received by those who need it to provide themselves and their families with the basic necessities.
But when asking a saint for financial help, one must remember that the appeal to the Lord should be of a grateful nature. Before prayer, every person should thank the Lord for what he has, driving away negative feelings from his heart and soul.
In order for the request to Nikolai Ugodnik to be heard, we need to help those who need it even more. It is not necessary to donate large sums. You can help with things and food. Good deeds will definitely be rewarded by the Almighty.
First prayer to Nicholas the Wonderworker for help
Oh, all-holy Nicholas, exceedingly saintly servant of the Lord, our warm intercessor, and everywhere in sorrow a quick helper!

Amen.
Who does the saint help?
Everyone can turn to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker for help. The saint is considered the patron saint of travelers, children, youth and infirm old people. The list of those who appeal to the Pleasant is much wider. These are those who:
- wants to find his place in life;
