Life
Cyprian was a famous and terrible pagan sorcerer. He began learning the art of witchcraft at the age of 10. Going through fasting, abstinence of the flesh, and self-restraint, the man gave up all his abilities to dark forces. His mentors were the powerful priests of Olympus, Argos and Memphis. By the age of 30, Cyprian had perfected the transformation of the body, control of natural elements and bringing disasters upon people. The man became a magician and astrologer, embodied demonic powers and boasted of friendship with Satan. Gloomy permissiveness instilled melancholy and immeasurable anger in his soul - Cyprian, for the sake of fun, destroyed human souls, inclined people to crimes and incredible cruelty, infected them with vicious passions leading to hopelessness and suicide. He was especially pleased with the opportunity to bring the souls of pure girls and boys into the arms of the devil. The number of people killed exceeded a hundred. If the Lord had not stopped Cyprian, many more people would have suffered a terrible fate.
Justina was also born into the family of a pagan priest, but at the age of 18 she heard the sermon of a Christian deacon. The girl began to secretly attend church, rethought her life and fervently believed in the One God. The girl, with her ardor and reasonable arguments, converted her parents to the faith. The whole family was baptized by a Christian bishop. The future martyr was distinguished by her amazing beauty and gentle disposition. But she categorically rejected the claims of the young man Aglaid, who was in love with her. The girl assured that she was not thinking about marriage and saw herself as the bride of Christ. Aglaid turned to the famous Cyprian with a request to bewitch the obstinate beauty and place the passion of fornication in her heart. Cyprian, believing that this was an ordinary case, gave the young man potions that were supposed to be sprinkled on the threshold of the beauty’s house in order to show the way to the unclean spirit.
The Christian woman felt the approach of defilement and resorted to prayer, protected herself with faith and trepidation with the sign of the cross, and began to strictly observe fasting. The demons sent by Cyprian could not instill in her a single sinful thought, nor shake the girl’s love for the One God one bit. Then Cyprian tried to break the spirit of the amazing maiden himself, but all his knowledge was powerless.
The sorcerer sent pestilence and disease to the city, relatives and friends of Ustinya. Misfortunes happened to everyone who had any contact with her. The people were inflamed with anger and were ready to give the Christian woman to the pagan priest by force. But the girl intensified her prayer - and the misfortunes receded. A young girl, not trained in any magical wisdom, won the confrontation with a powerful priest. Cyprian was amazed. He rushed with reproaches to Satan, whom he considered the most powerful being in the world and to whom he dedicated his life. Satan was ready to destroy the obstinate servant, but suddenly Cyprian used Justina’s weapon - the sign of the cross. And the enemy of the human race retreated in fury.
Cyprian destroyed all magical amulets and books, repented, showed unprecedented steadfastness in his newfound faith and accepted holy Baptism. After a year of selfless service, Cyprian became a priest, then earned the rank of bishop. Knowing all the ins and outs of the prince of darkness, Cyprian so convincingly converted the pagans to the true faith that there were soon no idolaters left in the country. Ustinia Cyprian appointed abbess of one of the nunneries.
During the persecution of Christians, both martyrs were captured and transported to the cruel Roman emperor Diocletian. During cruel torture, the holy martyr Cyprian and the martyr Justina showed incredible fortitude, protecting themselves with prayer and the sign of the cross. Powerless tormentors killed the saints by cutting off their heads. The bodies of the tortured lay on the shore for 6 days, until Christian sailors transported them to Rome for burial.
Hieromartyr Cyprian, Martyr Justina and Martyr Theoctistus
Lives of the Hieromartyr Cyprian, Bishop, Martyr Justina and Martyr Theoctistus
In the 3rd century, during the reign of the Roman emperor Decius, a pagan sage, the famous sorcerer Cyprian, lived in Antioch.
He appeased the prince of darkness himself with sacrifices, gave him all of himself into power, and he gave him a regiment of demons to serve and promised to make him a prince upon his departure from the body. Many turned to him in their needs, and he helped them with demonic power. One day a young man named Aglaid, the son of rich and noble parents, turned to him. One day he saw the girl Justina and was struck by her beauty, and from then on he began to seek her favor and love, but she refused him: “My groom is Christ; I serve Him and for His sake I maintain my purity.” Armed with secret knowledge and calling upon unclean spirits for help, Cyprian sent them three times to seduce Justina. They inspired her with evil thoughts, kindled carnal passion in her, tempted her with flattering and crafty speeches, but Justina defeated them with fasting, prayer and the sign of the cross, and, disgraced and frightened by the cross of the Lord, they fled in shame. Cyprian was then indignant and began to take revenge on Justina for his shame. He sent pestilence and plagues to the house of Justina and to the whole city, just as the devil once did to the righteous Job. She prayed earnestly, and the demonic obsession stopped. After such a change, people began to glorify Christ, and Cyprian, having received his sight, renounced the works of the devil, confessed everything to the local bishop Anthimus, gave him all his books to burn and begged him to perform Holy Baptism on him.
He completely changed his life; seven days after baptism he was made a reader, twenty days later a subdeacon, thirty days a deacon, and a year later he was ordained a priest. He was soon made a bishop and in this rank he led such a holy life that he became equal to many great saints.
During the persecution of Christians under the emperor Diocletian, Cyprian and Justina were slandered, put in prison, then they ordered the saint to be hanged and his body flogged, and Justina to be beaten on the lips and eyes. After this they were thrown into a cauldron, but the boiling cauldron did not cause them any harm. In the end they were condemned to be beheaded by the sword.
Seeing the innocent death of the martyrs, the warrior Theoktist declared himself a Christian and was executed along with them.
The Holy Martyr Cyprian, the Holy Martyr Justina and the Holy Martyr Theoktistos were killed in Nicomedia in the year 304.
The relics of the saints are located in Cyprus, in the village of Meniko (20 km from Nicosia), in a temple dedicated to the saints. From the 13th century (from 1268), after the fall of Antioch, the relics were transported to Cyprus and hidden in a small chapel.

From the biography of Saints Cyprian and Ustinya
You can protect yourself from witchcraft if you pray intensely. This is confirmed by an example from the life of the martyr Ustinya. She wanted to get rid of the obsessive advances of her admirer Aglaid, who turned to the help of the sorcerer and servant of the devil Cyprian. In order to punish the intractable girl, he sent an epidemic through sorcery and communication with the devil to the house and city where she lived. Ustinye helped everyone get rid of it by fervent prayer to the Lord. Having learned about this, Cyprian renounced demonic help, repented, accepted Christianity, and during the persecution he suffered martyrdom together with Ustinya.
Now, in their Heavenly life, they both help those who ask to get rid of damage, the evil eye of unkind people, and the influence of demons. The words of prayer to Saints Cyprian and Justina will certainly be heard, especially if the situation is extremely alarming.
It has long been known that sorcerers can bring a lot of trouble with their magic. Prayer to Cyprian and Ustinya against witchcraft will help protect you from their destructive effects. The influence of witchcraft and corruption can manifest itself in a variety of forms. The consequences of their negative influence can be failures at work, in personal life, losses, serious illnesses, including mental illnesses, when demons overcome the victim.
