How to ask Allah for help: the power and features of dua

What is Muslim Dua

Islam has 5 pillars - the primary responsibilities of believers:

  1. Shahada is evidence of faith in Allah.
  2. Namaz - obligatory prayers.
  3. Uraza - fasting.
  4. Zakat is a tax.
  5. Hajj is a pilgrimage to Mecca.

Duas are called prayers and are confused with Namaz. But the concepts have differences:

  • dua is a prayer appeal to the Almighty. They read to express love for the Lord, testify to their faith, and worship Allah;
  • the prayer is made in a language convenient to the reader. Namaz is in Arabic only;
  • It is permissible to read the prayer in your own words. Namaz is performed strictly according to the Sunnah;
  • Prayer is performed after taharat - ablution. It is permissible to offer prayer without ablution.

Dua is an appeal to the help of the Almighty, a way of directly turning to the Lord. Allah says in the Quran that every prayer will be heard. He answers everyone who calls.

Prayer is a way to show God submission and weakness. He created humanity to be submissive and do his will, to worship him.

The dua emphasizes faith in the power of God:

  • after Namaz, at the moment of extreme closeness to the Lord;
  • prayer in the second rak'ah;
  • in the eleventh rak'ah of the night Namaz;
  • made for a special occasion or need (requests);
  • for every day of the month of Ramadan;
  • for days of the week;
  • recited on the night of power;
  • performed on holidays;
  • from the action of dark forces.

Salavat

While sitting at the end of the prayer after the attahiyat (before completing the prayer), the following salawat is recited:

“ALLAAHUMMA SALLY 'ALAYA MUHAMMADIN WA 'ALAYA EELI MUHAMMAD.

KYAMA SALLAYTE 'ALAYA IBRAAHIM UA 'ALAYA EELI IBRAAHIM.

INNEKYA KHAMIDUM-MAJIID.

ALLAHUMMA BAARIK 'ALAYA MUHAMMADIN UA 'ALAYAYA EELI MUHAMMAD

KYMAA BAARAKTE 'ALAYA IBRAAHIIMA VA 'ALAYA EELI IBRAACHIIM

INNEKYA KHAMIIDUM-MAJIID.”

How to read correctly

There are no strict rules for reading dua. There are recommendations, the implementation of which increases the possibility of fulfilling the request:

  • in Surah Al-Arrafat it is said (meaning): “The Lord has many beautiful names. Turn to Allah through them." When reading the dua, they turn to the Almighty respectfully, emphasizing his greatness and humility;
  • read the text, turning towards the Kaaba;
  • the voice with which the text is pronounced should express humility, submission, and sound quiet;
  • before making a request, they praise the Lord and repent of their sins;
  • the text should emphasize humility before the will of the Almighty;
  • keep your hands raised to your chest during dua, with palms open, at a distance from each other;
  • It is forbidden to pray without faith in Allah, the power of faith;
  • read the text humbly, persistently, patiently;
  • Good requests are allowed. You cannot read the text with malicious intent.

For myself

The main condition for accepting dua for yourself is that it is forbidden to ask for the impossible - elevation to the divine level.

It is forbidden to ask for anything that is contrary to the Muslim faith. Praying to the detriment of other fellow believers is prohibited.

Allah will not accept the prayer:

  • if there is no true faith in the Lord;
  • It is forbidden to yawn while reading words;
  • You can’t close your eyes;
  • Clothing with images of people or living beings is prohibited. It is prohibited to place items with their image;
  • It is forbidden to turn your head or lean on anything while turning to the Lord.

Dua is pronounced with a clear conscience and bright thoughts.

For another person

A true Muslim knows that prayers must be offered for loved ones. They will strengthen family ties and emphasize the bonds of common faith.

The texts of the dua, read not for oneself, are important, Allah accepts them, easing the fate of those for whom they are pronounced.

A Muslim who follows the laws of the Koran feels the need to offer prayers for people who do good deeds, asking the Lord for happiness and benefits for them.

There are no clear rules on how to make dua for another person.

For relatives and people of other faiths, it is recommended to ask for health, the favor of the Lord, faith, and adherence to Islam.

People struck down by illness need prayer. The Prophet said:

“When a Muslim visits a sick person who has not completed his life, he will read seven times next to him: I ask the Almighty, Allah Almighty, Lord of the Throne to save you from the disease, your prayer will be heard and Allah will heal you.”

It is necessary to read a prayer for the dead, it will ease their fate, and help them occupy a high degree in the Gardens of Eden.

Examples of texts and translations for different languages

It is permissible to make dua in the native language of the reader. You need confidence in the power of prayer, a pure spirit and heart. While reading, they concentrate on the text, do not get distracted, and do not make unnecessary movements. The soul and heart are turned to the Almighty.

Allah is favorable to texts perfected by the language of the prophet. But when a person is unable to pronounce the text clearly, realizing the meaning of the dua, the prayer will not be accepted. In such cases, make a request to the Lord in your native language.

To increase acceptance, it is necessary to learn the best duas of petition to Allah in Arabic with translation.

Audio recording of attahiyat:

How many times do you need to read dua and can you do it without ablution?

The strength of dua to Allah is not determined by the exact number of readings; it is acquired through sincere and diligent service to the Lord.

There is no indication how many times to read the prayer. But Hadiths talk about texts that repeat a certain number:

  1. Tasbih after hza Namaz - 33 times.
  2. Surah from the Koran al-Ikhlas – 3 times.
  3. Istighfar – 70 times a day.

In Islam, Namaz is read after ritual ablution; it is forbidden to perform it if one is not able to Janabat (means complete ablution after sexual intercourse).

Prohibitions do not apply to dua. But there is a ban on touching texts with the name of the Almighty with unwashed hands.

  3. ILLYAL-LYAZINA-AMANU-UA-AMILUS-SSOLIKHATI-UA TAUASAU-BIL-HAKKY-UA TAUAAASAU BISABR

Audio recording of Surah Asr:

Why does Allah not answer dua?

Dua among Muslims is a way of turning to the Lord with a prayer for help, support in trouble, a form of asking for health, the blessings of happiness, a method of obtaining answers to troubling questions.

Allah does not answer prayers for the following reasons:

  1. The prayer is not made in accordance with Sharia, it contributes to the destruction of the family, and carries a sinful meaning.
  2. The perpetrator does not have true faith, worships other deities, and does not visit the mosque.
  3. Allah heard the prayer, but did not fulfill the request. The desire will be fulfilled later, will be rewarded after death, or it will not correspond to God’s providence.
  4. The person ate non-halal foods.
  5. the dua was made with a stained conscience, without repentance, without respect for the Lord.
  6. Wisdom says: when a worthy Muslim makes a prayer, Allah does not fulfill the request because he wants to hear his voice. God answers the unloved slaves immediately.

Knowledge and observance of the rules for reading sacred texts guarantees that the prayer will be heard and accepted. But Allah is merciful and forgives zealous followers for mistakes in making dua.
