(bow) Psalm 118, funeral

Blessed are the blameless ones on their way, walking in the law of the Lord. Chorus: Remember , O Lord, the soul of Your servant.

Blessed are those who experience His witness, they will seek Him with all their hearts. Chorus: Remember , O Lord, the soul of Your servant.

no iniquity walk in His ways. Thou hast commanded that Thy commandments be strictly preserved: that my ways may be corrected, Thy justifications be preserved. Then I will not be ashamed to always look upon all Your commandments. Let us confess to You in the righteousness of our hearts, and let us always learn the destinies of Your righteousness. I will keep Your excuses: do not leave me to the bitter end. How will the youngest one correct his path? Always keep Your words. With all my heart I seek You: do not cast me away from Your commandments. I hide Your words in my heart, so that I will not sin against You. Blessed art thou, O Lord: teach me by thy justification. Chorus: Remember , O Lord, the soul of Your servant.

At my voice I proclaimed all the destinies of Your mouth. On the path of Thy testimonies we have enjoyed ourselves, as in all riches. I will mock Your commandments, and understand Your ways. I will learn from Your justifications: I will not forget Your words. Reward Your servant: live me, and I will keep Your words. Open my eyes, and I will understand the wonders of Your law. I am a stranger on earth: do not hide Your commandments from me. My soul love to desire Your destiny at all times. Thou hast rebuked the proud: curses are those who turn away from Thy commandments. Take away from me diarrhea and humiliation, as I have sought Your testimonies. Chorus: Remember , O Lord, the soul of Your servant.

And for the princes sat down and slandered me, but Thy servant mocked at Thy justifications: for Thy testimonies are my teaching, and advise my Thy justifications. My soul clings to the earth: live me according to Your word. Chorus: Remember , O Lord, the soul of Your servant.

Thou hast declared my way, and Thou hast heard me: teach me by Thy justification. Let me understand the path of Your justifications, and I will mock at Your wonders. My soul slumbers from despondency: strengthen me in Your words. Leave the path of unrighteousness from me and have mercy on me with Your law. Chorus: Remember , O Lord, the soul of Your servant.

the path of truth and have not forgotten Your destiny. I cleave to Thy testimony, O Lord, do not disgrace me. The path of Your commandments flowed when You enlarged my heart. Establish for me, O Lord, the way of Your justifications, and I will seek and take away: give me understanding, and I will try Your law and keep it with all my heart. Guide me on the path of Your commandments, as I desire. Incline my heart to Thy testimonies, and not to covetousness. Turn away my eyes from seeing vanity: live me in Your way. Chorus: Remember , O Lord, the soul of Your servant.

Leave Thy word unto Thy servant for Thy fear. Take away my reproach, the hedgehog of the Nepschevs: for Thy fate is good. Behold, I have desired Thy commandments: live me in Thy righteousness. And let Thy mercy, O Lord, come upon me, Thy salvation according to Thy word: and I will answer the word of those who reproach me, because I have trusted in Thy words. And do not take away from my lips the words that are truly true, for I have trusted in Your destiny: and I will keep Your law forever and ever. And we walked in breadth, for we sought Thy commandments: and spoke Thy testimonies before the kings, and were not ashamed: and we learned in Thy commandments, which I have greatly loved: and I lifted up my hands to Thy commandments, which I have loved, and mocked at Thy justifications. Remember Thy words to Thy servant, whose hope Thou hast given me. So console me in my humility, for Your word lives on me. Pride is a lawbreaker to the extreme: but we have not deviated from Your law. I have remembered Your destiny from eternity, O Lord, and have been comforted. I have received sorrow from sinners who forsake Thy law. Peta beat me to Your justifications at the place of my coming. I will remember Your name in the night, O Lord, and keep Your law. This will come to me, as I seek justification for Your demands. Thou art my part, O Lord: I have decided to preserve Thy law. I prayed to Your face with all my heart: have mercy on me according to Your word. Chorus: Remember , O Lord, the soul of Your servant.

Let me consider Your ways and return my nose to Your witness. Let us prepare ourselves and not be embarrassed to keep Your commandments. The sinner has already committed himself to me, and has not forgotten Your law. At midnight I rose to confess to You about the destinies of Your righteousness. I am a partaker of all those who fear You and keep Your commandments. Fill the earth with Thy mercy, O Lord: teach me by Thy justification. Thou hast done kindness to Thy servant, O Lord, according to Thy word: teach me goodness and punishment and reason, as I have believed in Thy commandments. Chorus: Remember , O Lord, the soul of Your servant.

Before we even humble ourselves, I have sinned: for this reason I have preserved Your word. Thou art good, O Lord: and by Thy goodness teach me by Thy justification. The iniquity of the proud has multiplied against me; I will test Your commandments with all my heart. Their hearts are as if they were milky: I have learned Your law. It is good for me, for Thou hast humbled me, that I may learn by Thy justification. The law of Your mouth is good to me more than a thousand gold and silver. Chorus: Remember , O Lord, the soul of Your servant.
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. A min. And alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. Glory to you, God. (three times) Lord have mercy (three times) Glory Remember , O Lord our God, in the faith and hope of the eternal life, Thy servants, our brothers and sisters (names), who have passed away, and as the Good One and the Lover of Mankind, forgiving sins and consuming untruths, weaken, forsake and forgive all their voluntary and involuntary sins, deliver them eternal torment and the fire of Gehenna and grant them the communion and enjoyment of Thy eternal good things prepared for those who love Thee: even though they have sinned, they have not departed from Thee, and undoubtedly in the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, the God of Thee glorified in the Trinity of faith, and the One in The Trinity and the Trinity in Unity, she confessed Orthodoxy even until her last breath. Therefore , be merciful and have faith in You instead of deeds, and with Your saints, as You are Generous, give rest: for there is no man who will live and not sin. But You are the One besides all sin, and Your truth is truth forever, and You are the One God of mercies and generosity, and love for mankind, and we send glory to You, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. A min.
With Thy hands make me, and create me: give me understanding, and I will learn Thy commandments. Chorus: Remember , O Lord, the soul of Your servant.

Those who fear You will see me and rejoice, for they have trusted in Your words. I understood, Lord, that Thy destiny is true, and Thou hast truly humbled me. Let Thy mercy comfort me, according to Thy word to Thy servant: may Thy bounties come to me, and I will live, as Thy law is my teaching: let pride be ashamed, for it is unrighteously lawless against me: I will mock at Thy commandments. Let those who fear You and those who know Your testimonies convert me. May my heart be blameless in Your justifications, so that I will not be ashamed. My soul disappears for Thy salvation, having trusted in Thy words: my eyes disappear into Thy word, saying: When will Thou comfort me? Once upon a time I would be like fur on the slate: I have not forgotten Your justifications. How long is the day of Your servant? When will you bring judgment on me from those who persecute me? The lawbreakers have told me mockery, but not like Thy law, O Lord. All Your commandments are true: having persecuted me unrighteously, help me. For a little while I was not put to death on earth: I did not forsake Thy commandments. Live for me according to Thy mercy, and I will preserve the testimonies of Thy mouth. Chorus: Remember , O Lord, the soul of Your servant.

Forever , O Lord, Your word remains in heaven. Thy truth endureth unto generation and generation: Thou hast founded the earth, and it endureth. The day endures by Thy commandment: for all kinds of work are done by Thee.

If it were not for Thy law that my teaching had been, then I would have perished in my humility: I will never forget Thy justifications, for Thou hast quickened me in them. (three times) Chorus: Remember , O Lord, the soul of Your servant.

I am Thy, save me: for I seek Thy justification. Chorus: rest in peace, O Lord.

I waited for the sinner to destroy me: I understood Your testimonies. I have seen the end of every end: Thy commandment is great. Since I have loved Your law, O Lord, I have my teaching all day long. Thou hast made me wiser than my enemy through Thy commandment, even as I am forever. More than all those who taught me, I understood that Your testimonies are my teaching. Moreover, the elder understood that I have sought Your commandments. My feet have been forbidden from every evil way, so that I may keep Your words: I will not turn aside from Your judgments, for You have laid down the law for me. How sweet is Your word to my throat: more than honey to my mouth. I understood from Your commandments: for this reason I hated every way of unrighteousness. The lamp of my feet is Your law, and the light of my paths. I swore and vowed to preserve the fate of Your righteousness. I humble myself to the core: Lord, live me according to Your word. Chorus: rest in peace, O Lord.

Be kind to I will take my soul into Your hand, and I will not forget Your law. The sinners have laid a net for me: and from Thy commandments I have not gone astray. I have inherited Thy testimonies forever, for the joy of my heart is the essence: I incline my heart to create Thy justifications forever for reward. I have hated the lawbreakers, but I have loved Your law. Thou art my helper and my intercessor: I trust in Thy words. Chorus: rest in peace, O Lord.

Turn away from me, you wicked ones, and I will test the commandments of my God. Intercede for me according to Your word, and I will live: and do not disgrace me because of my hope: help me, and I will be saved, and I will learn from Your justifications. Thou hast brought to naught all those who depart from Thy justifications: for their thoughts are unrighteous. You who transgress against all the sinners of the earth: for this reason I have loved Your testimony. Nail my flesh with Thy fear: for I am afraid of Thy judgments. I have created justice and justice: do not betray me to those who offend me. Chorus: rest in peace, O Lord.

Protect Your servant for good, so that pride does not slander me. My eyes are gone for Thy salvation and for the word of Thy righteousness: deal with Thy servant according to Thy mercy, and teach me by Thy justification. I am Thy servant: give me understanding, and I will hear Thy testimony. It is time for the Lord to do: I have destroyed Your law. For this reason I have loved Your commandments more than gold and topaz. For this reason, I was guided by all Your commandments, and I hated every path of unrighteousness. Wonderful is Thy testimony: for this reason I am tested, my soul. The manifestation of Your words enlightens and instructs little ones. My mouth was opened and my spirit was drawn, because I desired Your commandments. Chorus: rest in peace, O Lord.
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. A min. And alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. Glory to you, God. Look upon me and have mercy on me, according to the judgment of those who love Your name. Chorus: rest in peace, O Lord.

from above according to Thy word, and let not all iniquity possess me. Chorus: rest in peace, O Lord.

And deliver me from the slander of men, and I will keep Your commandments. Make Thy face shine upon Thy servant, and teach me Thy justification. My eyes have known the source of the waters, but I have not kept Your law. Thou art righteous, O Lord, and Thy judges rule: Thou hast commanded the righteousness of Thy testimony, and the truth greatly. Thy jealousy has consumed me; for I have forgotten Thy words. Thy word is kindled with great heat, and Thy servant is loved. I am the youngest and humbled: I have not forgotten Thy justifications. Your righteousness is righteousness forever, and Your law is truth. Chorus: rest in peace, O Lord.

Out of pain and need I found: Your commandments are my teaching. The truth of Your testimony endures forever: give me understanding, and I will live. I cried with all my heart, hear me, O Lord: I will seek Your righteousness. I called upon You, save me, and I will preserve Your testimonies. I went ahead in hopelessness and cried out: I have trusted in Your words. Prepare my eyes for the morning, to learn from Your words. Hear my voice, O Lord, according to Thy mercy: live for me according to Thy destiny. Those who persecute me with iniquity have drawn near, but have departed from Thy law. Thou art near, O Lord, and all Thy ways are the truth. From the beginning I knew from Your testimonies that I founded the age. See my humility and forgive me: for I have not forgotten Your law. Chorus: rest in peace, O Lord.

Judgment my judgment and deliver me: live me by Thy word. Salvation is far from the sinner, for I have not sought Your justifications. Thy bounties are many, O Lord: live me according to Thy destiny. There are many who drive me out and afflict me: I have not turned away from Your testimonies. I have seen those who do not understand and have ceased to say: because I have not kept Your words. See that I have loved Your commandments: Lord, live for me according to Your mercy. Chorus: rest in peace, O Lord.

The beginning of Your words is truth, and forever the destiny of Your righteousness. The princes have driven me to hell: and because of Thy words my heart feared. I will rejoice in Your words, for I have gained much gain. I have hated and detested injustice: but I have loved Your law. Chorus: rest in peace, O Lord.

Every day we praise You about the destinies of Your righteousness. There is peace for many who love Your law, and there is no temptation for them. I have longed for Your salvation, O Lord, and I have loved Your commandments. May my soul preserve Thy testimonies and love me dearly. I will keep Your commandments and Your testimonies, for all my ways are before You, O Lord. Let my prayer draw near before You, O Lord: give me understanding according to Your word. May my petition come before You: Lord, deliver me according to Your word. Chorus: rest in peace, O Lord.

Oh, my lips will begin to sing, when You teach me Your justification. My tongue proclaims Your words, for all Your commandments are true. May Thy hand be to save me, as I have willed Thy commandments. I have desired Your salvation, O Lord, and Your law is my teaching.

My soul will live and praise Thee: and Thy destinies will help me. I have gone astray, like a lost sheep: seek Thy servant, for I have not forgotten Thy commandments. (three times) Chorus: May in peace, O Lord.

The same troparia, voice 2: From those who have sinned to You, O Savior, like the prodigal son: receive me, O Father, repentant, and have mercy on me, O God. Glory: I call to You, Christ the Savior, in the publican’s voice: cleanse me as she did and have mercy on me, O God. And now: Mother of God, do not despise me, demanding Your intercession: for my soul trusts in You, and have mercy on me.

Psalm 50, rest

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy, and according to the multitude of Your mercies, cleanse my iniquity. Above all, wash me from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin: for I know my iniquity, and I will take away my sin before me. You alone have sinned and done evil before You: so that You may be justified in Your words and overcome, and never judge You. Because I was conceived in iniquity, and in sins my mother gave birth to me. Behold, Thou hast loved the truth, Thou hast revealed to me Thy unknown and secret wisdom. Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Give joy and gladness to my hearing: humble bones will rejoice. Turn Your face away from my sins and cleanse all my iniquities. heart , O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb. Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit away from me. Reward me with the joy of Your salvation and strengthen me with the Lord’s Spirit. I will teach the wicked Your way, and the wicked will turn to You. Deliver me from bloodshed, O God, God of my salvation: my tongue will rejoice in Your righteousness. Lord , you have opened my mouth, and my mouth will declare Your praise. As if you had desired sacrifices, you would have given them: you do not favor burnt offerings. The sacrifice to God is a broken spirit: a contrite and humble heart God will not despise. Bless Zion, O Lord, with Your favor, and may the walls of Jerusalem be built: then You will be pleased with the sacrifice of righteousness, the offering and the burnt offering: then they will lay the bullocks on Your altar.

Troparion for the Immaculates, tone 5

From the holy faces you have found the source of life and the door of heaven, that I may find the path of repentance, the lost sheep that I am, call me, O Savior, and save me. Chorus: Blessed art thou, O Lord, teach me by thy justification.

And the messenger of God who preached and slain was like lambs, and reposed to an ageless, holy, and everlasting life: He diligently, martyrs, pray to grant us permission for debts. Chorus: Blessed art thou, O Lord, teach me by thy justification.

Having walked the narrow and sorrowful path, having carried the cross like a yoke in life and having followed Me by faith, come and enjoy the honors and heavenly crowns that are in store for you. Chorus: Blessed art thou, O Lord, teach me by thy justification.

O image of Your indescribable glory, even if I bear the ulcers of sins, spare Your creation, O Lord, and cleanse with Your compassion, and grant me the desired Fatherland, creating me again as an inhabitant of paradise. Chorus: Blessed art thou, O Lord, teach me by thy justification.

Because He who created me and honored me in Your Divine image reverently from those who carried me, but by the transgression of the commandment, having returned me to the earth, I was taken from it, but brought it up in the likeness, to be recreated with ancient goodness. Chorus: Blessed art thou, O Lord, teach me by thy justification.

May Thy servant rest, O God, and send him to heaven, where the faces of the saints, O Lord, and the righteous women shine like lights, give rest to Thy departed servant, despising all his sins. Glory: T the radiant One of the Divinity, we piously sing crying out: Holy art Thou, Father without beginning, Co-originating Son and Divine Soul, enlighten us who serve Thee with faith, and snatch up the eternal fire. And now: Rejoice , O Pure One, who gave birth to God in the flesh for the salvation of all, through whom the human race has found salvation. May we find heaven through you, Pure and Blessed Mother of God!

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. A min. And alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. Glory to you, God. (three times)

Scheme for reading the Psalter

The study of holy texts is a daily ritual of every truly believing Christian. In addition, the texts of the Psalter are used in divine services, and if you read holy songs at home, you can take a direct part in the service, glorifying the Heavenly Powers together with the priest. The scheme for reading the psalms looks like this:

  • on Sunday – Psalm 23;
  • on Monday – Psalm 47;
  • on Tuesday – Psalm 66;
  • on Wednesday – Psalm 93;
  • on Thursday – Psalm 49;
  • on Friday – Psalm 92;
  • on Saturday – Psalm 91.

It must be remembered that kathismas are not read during the period from Maundy Thursday of Holy Week to St. Thomas Sunday, popularly called “Anti-Easter.” During this period, the study of the Psalter is prohibited for 10 days.

In order to remember a relative or other loved one, you need, in addition to reading at least 1 kathisma daily, to adhere to spiritual fasting for 40 days. If the ceremony is carried out at home, then it is not necessary to read the prayers written after each chapter. In this case, the ritual of remembrance will take place correctly.

When reading chants of praise at home, you need to remember that after each utterance of glory to the Holy Trinity, you need to read a funeral prayer. The same words are pronounced at the end of each chapter of the Psalter. When the reading of the holy psalms comes to an end, you need to read the funeral Canon. This order was established by the Moscow Patriarchate in 1973.

Prayer readings are performed with a lit candle, when thoughts are calmed and in a spiritual mood. The holy lines are read in a calm voice, slowly and without interruptions in words and stress. If the emphasis is placed in the wrong place, then the prayer may be interpreted incorrectly, which is undesirable.

Prayer for the deceased 40 days

Various Christian sources report on the importance of prayer for the deceased. The first person to inform the living that it takes 40 days to reach the gates of Paradise after death was Theodora. At the same time, the woman noted that as soon as the living on Earth remembered her, it became easier to overcome the path beyond the grave.

Modern science also reports that the soul exists, and scientists have even determined the weight of this integral component of the human being - 21 years. In addition, often after death people dreamed of relatives and asked them to pray for them or fulfill requests, which once again proves the fact of the existence of the soul and that it needs the help of the living.

The clergy note that for 1.5 months an invisible substance walks the earth, accompanied by a Guardian Angel, who shows the deceased his deeds. If a person sinned a lot during his lifetime, then active commemoration of him by people will tip the scales of the Supreme Court towards Paradise.

Options for prayer according to the Psalter for the repose

There is a prayer in the Holy Book that is considered the most powerful and effective. Kathisma 17 is suitable for both a one-time commemoration and ritual reading for 1.5 months. Church workers note that such a one-time commemoration of the soul of the departed can replace the reading of the entire Psalter.

17 Kathisma, according to many, is a most beautiful song that has a beneficial effect not only on the soul of the person commemorated, but also on the reader himself. Chapter 17 includes opening and closing prayers and Psalm 118.
