Dear brothers and sisters!
We hope for your help in improving our temple. In the lower church it is necessary to design and install historical iconostases in the central and side chapels, and also to find means for painting icons for the iconostases of the upper and lower churches. In addition, we need to start arranging the interior on the first and second floors.
As you know, the mayor’s office has restored the Church of St. Job of Pochaev, which is located on the southern side of our large Temple. This is the only temple in Moscow dedicated to this great saint of Southwestern Rus'. Immediately after the completion of the work, we began Divine services here, but now it is temporarily closed due to the construction of a white stone iconostasis. And here we also need your help: in completing the work on the iconostasis, arranging the interior, and maybe, if God bless, painting the ceiling and walls.
Our Temple was built by pious merchants in the 17th century. It has gone through various restructurings and alterations. It burned down in 1812, was restored in the middle of the 19th century, and was used for other purposes during the difficult times of godlessness, especially after its closure in 1934. In the 1960s it was adapted for Grabar's workshops. By the beginning of the 2000s, it was in a dilapidated state of disrepair. After 2004, its revival began. And quite recently, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation carried out repair and restoration work, thanks to which the temple was transformed, but, unfortunately, many unresolved issues remained, the main ones of which we have just announced.
So let us help the whole world in the improvement and beautification of the Temple, which has been preserved and transformed after more than three centuries.
May the All-Merciful Lord God help all people who donate to the temples of God, who work and serve in the Church of the Lord!
Donations can be transferred in the following ways convenient for you:
Transfer to the temple account, which is on this website in the “Help the temple” section
or put it in the church “mug” in the temple.
You can also send a donation to the YuMoney payment service at No. 410011339674499
or to the Sberbank card of the parish social service:

You can also send donations using PayPal
For any questions, please call: +7-926-212-54-27.
In the lower church, in all three chapels, we have installed temporary iconostases and hope, with your help, to restore the historical ones.

Orthodox Christians revere ancient Western saints. After all, they lived in an era when the Christian West and East were united. Among the host of saints who lived before the great church schism on the territory of modern Western Europe is Ambrose of Milan. He lived in the fourth century in Milan or Mediolan, as the city was called in those days. Ambrose was initially not only not a clergyman, but even a Christian. He was elected bishop by a sign from above. At the time of his ordination to the clergy, Ambrose was a government official and one day walked past a crowd of Christians discussing who would be the new bishop of Mediolan (the previous one had died by that time). The argument was noisy. Ambrose became interested - what did the Christians decide there? And then a loud child’s voice rang out, which everyone heard: “Ambrose for bishop!” But there was no child nearby. And everyone understood that the election of Ambrose was announced by an angel - the messenger of God. Ambrose initially refused the bishopric, but eventually agreed. The ministry of Saint Ambrose led to the strengthening and expansion of the local church community in Milan. Ambrose of Milan also became famous as a poet. Priest Anthony Borisov talks about one of his most famous works, the hymn “We Praise You, God.”
About twenty church hymns are attributed to the pen of Saint Ambrose. The most famous hymn is “We Praise You, God.” Despite the fact that some historians deny the authorship of the saint, church tradition has insisted since ancient times that it was Ambrose who composed this heartfelt work. Let's listen to his lines in Russian translation:
“We praise You, God, We confess You, Lord. The whole earth magnifies You, the Eternal Father. To You all the angels, to You the heavens and all the powers, to You the cherubim and seraphim continually cry: Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God of hosts, the heavens and earth are full of the greatness of Your glory.”
The words of the hymn not only glorify God, but reveal the foundations of Christian doctrine - that the Savior is both the Son of God and a man: “You are the King of glory, Christ, You are the ever-present Son of the Father, You, having received man for the deliverance, did not disdain the bosom of the Virgin, You, having overcome the sting of death, opened the Kingdom of Heaven to believers, You are seated at the right hand of God in the glory of the Father.”
In the Russian Church, the hymn “We Praise You, God” is best known in its arrangement by composer Dmitry Bortnyansky. This work completes the sequence of thanksgiving prayers, after the liturgy on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, at the end of the New Year's prayer service. In addition, it is often used at holiday concerts of sacred music. Let's listen to a prayer performed by the joint choir of the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra and Moscow Theological Schools.
Life of Saint Ambrose of Milan
Ambrose was born in Northern Italy in 340. His parents were noble and wealthy Romans. They gave their son an excellent education, which allowed him to become a lawyer and occupy a high position. When he was 34 years old, he came to the church where the election of a bishop was taking place in order to resolve the dispute that had arisen. And suddenly some voice, ringing, as if a child’s, said to the whole church, “Ambrose is a bishop.” And everyone who was in the temple, in any corner of it, heard it. Everyone present believed that this was God’s will. And although Ambrose was then still among the catechumens, he was just preparing for Baptism, he was unanimously elected bishop. He resisted this appointment in every possible way, even went into hiding. But it was all in vain - he soon received Baptism, passed all church degrees within 8 days and was ordained a bishop.
After that, he began a completely different life. He immediately distributed all his property to the poor and began his spiritual enlightenment and study of the Holy Scriptures. At that time, one of the main tasks was to preserve the integrity of the Church and fight against heresies. The bishop carried out constant work in this direction, showing firmness of spirit.
He composed the victory hymn “We Praise Thee God,” which is still used in worship services to this day. The prayer of Ambrose of Milan before the liturgy is read by the priest preparing for the service. The theologian wrote more than 30 hymns and songs. He was engaged in the transformation of church singing, introducing measured measures, correct rhythms and melodies. This made the singing of prayers during services orderly and harmonious.
Bishop Ambrose devoted his entire life to serving God. For him there were no ranks or wealth. He led a very modest, ascetic lifestyle. He could not even allow emperors into the temple if they were burdened with sins.
In his declining years, he constantly spent time in prayer, respected and revered by the people. He refused spiritual help to no one.
Ambrose of Milan is revered as the greatest theologian of his time and the holy father of the Church.
Help has been provided - but what about “thank you”?
When young children receive something from adults, they are taught to express gratitude. What kind of Christians are they who accept great gifts from their Creator as a matter of course? In his eyes they look ungrateful, disrespectful, simply ill-mannered. Yes, the adult will feed the child in any case. Just like the Good Creator will always help those who ask. But this is not a reason to take blessings for granted.
Any troubles end sooner or later. And this is always a manifestation of the heavenly Father’s care for his reckless children. It is imperative to say a prayer of gratitude to the Lord God for your help. Perhaps there really is no time to visit the temple, but everyone can find a few minutes to mentally say: “Glory to Thee, Lord!”
Godly Christians have a habit of extolling heavenly powers even when things are not going well. They believe that tests are sent for their own benefit. Having endured them with honor, people hope to become more spiritual and closer to perfection.

Text of the Thanksgiving Prayer to the Lord for every day
“We thank Thee, Lord our God, for all Thy good deeds, even from the first age to the present, in us, Thy unworthy servants (names), who were, known and unknown, about those revealed and unmanifested, even those who were in deed and in word: who loved us Just as you deigned to give Your Only Begotten Son for us, make us worthy of Your love. Grant with Your word wisdom and with Your fear inhale strength from Your power, and whether we have sinned, whether willingly or unwillingly, forgive and not impute, and keep our soul holy, and present it to Thy Throne, having a clear conscience, and the end is worthy of Thy love for mankind; and remember, O Lord, all who call upon Thy name in truth, remember all who desire good or evil against us: for all are men, and every man is in vain; We also pray to You, Lord, grant us Your great mercy.”
How do prayers to a saint help?
Parents pray to the saint to grant health to their children, as well as to preserve the chastity of their children and overcome lust.
Since the saint directed all his activities towards the fight against paganism, heresies and schism, he will help lead people away from sectarianism and turn to the true faith.
Prayer before the Liturgy
The prayers are written down into short paragraphs for easier memorization!
To the True Hierarch Jesus Christ, who offered to Himself to God the Father on the altar of the Cross a pure sacrifice, undefiled by us sinners, and who gave us Your Body to eat and Your Blood to drink, ordaining the sacrament in the power of the Holy Spirit, saying this: Whenever you do, in My remembrance do it .
I pray through Your honest Blood, the great price of our salvation, I pray through this wondrous and inscrutable love, with which You, the unworthy, loved us so much, as if You washed us from our sins with Your Blood: teach me, Thy unworthy servant, even with Your other gifts , into the rank of the priesthood, not according to my deeds, but according to Yours alone, You deigned to call upon mercy, teach me by Your Spirit to perform such a great mystery, with great honor and reverence, with great piety and fear, in the image that is worthy of doing.
Make me, Lord Jesus Christ, by Thy grace to always believe and understand the majesty of this mystery, to feel and firmly hold, to speak and think, befitting of You, and useful to my soul.
Let Your good Spirit enter into my heart, speak silently, speak all the truth of so many mysteries, which have deepened deeply and are covered with a Divine shelter.
For the sake of Thy mercy, deign me now and always to perform the sacred rite with a pure heart and thought.
Cleanse your heart from unclean, vile, idle and harmful thoughts.
Protect the saints by angels with faithful guardianship and strong militia, so that the enemy of all blessings will flee to shame by the power of so much of the sacrament and the hand of Thy holy Angel.
Leave from me, my Christ, and from all Your servants the spirit of pride, vanity, envy, rage, fornication, uncleanness, unbelief and blasphemy, so that those who persecute us will be ashamed and may those who strive to destroy us perish.
To the King of strength, purity and chastity, Lover, O God, with the dew from above Your blessing, extinguish all the passionate flame in my flesh, for may the complete purity of soul and body live in me, with Your other gifts, pleasing to You in truth, so that I may have an undefiled body and a pure heart. To bring you a sacrifice of praise with so much contrition of heart, an outpouring of tears, with such honor and fear, in such purity of flesh and spirit, this heavenly Divine offering must be made, where Your Body is essentially eaten and Your Blood is essentially drunk, where the heavenly things below copulate, where you are the angels are coming, where the priest and the wonderful and indescribable sacrifice You yourself offered.
And who is worthy to do this, if not You Yourself, Almighty Lord, are worthy to do the offering? By this I am truly known, and I confess this to Thy mercy, that I am not worthy of the multitude for the sake of my sins and countless transgressions, to approach great mysteries, but I truly and believe with all my heart and lips I confess, that You alone are able to honor me, who was conceived in iniquities. and the one who is born can be cleansed.
For the sake of this omnipotence of Yours, I pray to You: grant me, a sinner, this heavenly sacrifice with fear and trembling, a clear conscience, an outpouring of tears, in spiritual joy and Divine joy, so that my blessed mind may feel the sweetness of Your coming and the host of Your holy angels around me.
Because, Lord, remembering Your saving Passion, I approach Your altar, even though I am unworthy, so that I may offer You a sacrifice, dedicated to You and offered in Your remembrance of our salvation, set up.
Accept this, I pray to Thee, my God, for the Church of Thy Saints and for all the people whom Thou hast provided with Thy Honest Blood: and before me, a sinner, Thou hast desired to be a mediator between Thee and them, if Thou hast not found evidence of good deeds in me , the ministry of reconciliation, entrusted to me, so that if you do not renounce, because it is not mine for the sake of unworthiness, you will lose the price of your salvation, for whose sake you yourself deigned to be a saving sacrifice and atonement.
I offer you, Lord, if you deign to mercifully look upon, the sorrows of people, the sighs of captives, the suffering of the poor, the needs of travelers, the sorrows of the weak, the infirmities of old, the sobs of a child, the vows of virgins, the prayers of widows and orphans, tenderness.
You love everything, and despise nothing created by You.
Remember who our composition is, for You are our Father.
Do not be very angry with us, nor close the wombs of Your compassions from us, O Lord, for it is not in our truths that we pour out our prayers before Your Face, but in Your many compassions.
Take away from us, Lord, our iniquities, and with the fire of Your Holy Spirit, mercifully incinerate us: take away the heart of stone from our flesh and give a heart of flesh that fears You, loves, honors, follows You and feeds on You.
We ask, O Master, for Thy generosity, so that with a bright face you may look favorably upon Thy property, awaiting Thy holy name of service, and may not a single prayer, not a single petition be rejected.
You teach us to pray, even if you yourself are ready to hear and when you ask for mercy, you fulfill them.
We pray to Thee, Holy Father, for the departed souls of the faithful, that this great sacrament of piety may be for them deliverance, salvation, joy and eternal joy.
Lord my God, give them today complete and complete consolation from You, the True, Living Bread, who came down from heaven and gives life to the world from Your Holy Flesh, the undefiled Lamb, who takes away the sins of the world.
Give them a drink of the stream of Thy goodness that flowed from Thy pierced rib on the Cross, so that they may rejoice in the praise and glory of Thy Holy One.
I pray, Lord, Your goodness, may the fulfillment of Your Divinity come upon this Bread and this Cup, may the invisible image and incomprehensible glory of Your Holy Spirit descend in the same way, as before on the sacrifices of the fathers, Who also may this offering of ours create the Body and Thy Blood, and me, Thy unworthy servant, will teach me to perform such a sacrament, so that Thou mayest more favorably and mercifully receive from my hands the Sacrifice for the salvation of all the living and the dead.
I pray to You, Lord, for the very sake of Your Holy Body and Blood of Your Sacrament, in the image of which we are always nourished and drunk in Your temple, cleansed, sanctified and adored, so that by Your power I am strengthened, coming to Your altar with a good conscience, I have this heavenly sacrament in my stomach and salvation, according to Thy holy word: The bread that I will give, My flesh is, I will give for the belly of the world that eats Me, and that one will live for My sake.
Sweetest bread, heal the mouth of my heart, so that I feel the sweetness of Your love in me, heal every ailment, and besides You, I wish for no beauty.
O pure bread, full of all sweets and aromas, enter into my heart and fill my inner soul with the sweetness of Your incense.
The angels in heaven feed on You abundantly: may the alien man on earth be satisfied according to his strength with You.
Holy Bread, Living Bread, Desirable Bread, come down from heaven and give life to the world, enter into my heart and cleanse me from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, enter into my soul, sanctifying and enlightening outside and inside, be my eternal guardianship of soul and body health.
Drive away from me those who come against me, so that those who hate me may flee from Your Face, yes, I am protected by You, I will pass with You into Your eternal kingdom, where we will not be hidden, but face to face we will see You, when you give up the Kingdom to God and the Father, may there be all God in all.
Until now I have hungered and thirsted, but then I will be satisfied, when Your glory will appear to me, in which You reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit forever.
Amen.
History of appearance and significance in Orthodoxy
An akathist is a song of praise written in honor of saints, the Mother of God or the Lord. It is read not only for consolation, to solve some problems, but also to express gratitude to the saints. According to Orthodox rules and traditions, people must listen to such prayer texts while standing; sitting is prohibited. The only exceptions are sick people who, due to their physical condition, cannot stand.
The authorship of the akathist dedicated to the Lord is attributed to the famous Metropolitan Tryphon, who wrote it in the first few years after the end of the Red Revolution. These were difficult times, because at that time people's lives were extremely poor, dangerous and difficult.
In the 20-30s of the last century, Tryphon was considered a real guide to the Orthodox faith, which was not in the best position at that time. The author of the prayer, Tryphon, wanted to leave a spiritual testament to Orthodox people and his flock and therefore decided to write a grateful akathist. When composing its name, the Metropolitan used the words of Veniamin of Kazan, sentenced to death, who was convicted and slandered.
Prayers of thanksgiving are very important and should be recited regularly. A person repeatedly asks the Lord for help in solving everyday problems and often does not thank Him in any way if he helps. However, this is wrong, and people should periodically thank God for not leaving them in trouble.
Also, saying a prayer of gratitude can help a person:
- strengthen his weakened faith;
- get rid of doubts;
- fill yourself with mental and physical strength;
- get rid of pride;
- become more responsive and kind.

Question-answer section
When they pray to the Lord Our God, it is better to prepare beforehand, at least to tune in internally. In addition, you can check with the clergy about the rules for praying in church.
How often should you thank God?
Expert opinion
Father Innocent
“Prayers of gratitude can be read at any time; they are said as many times as such a desire arises in the soul. This is a good reason for prayer. According to the schedule, under compulsion, it is better not to utter sacred words, because they will not have any force.”
How to behave during a prayer service?
Expert opinion
Father Innocent
“You should not shout in church; you must remain silent during the service. Mobile phones are turned off outside the church. In general, there are no strict prohibitions; parishioners can move around the church, but it is not customary to go behind the iconostasis or into the service premises.”
