Ayatul Kursi - the most valuable verse of the Holy Quran | Video

Ayat al-Kursi (Arabic - verse of the Throne) - the 255th verse of Surah Al-Baqarah (The Cow). The verse is named so because it mentions the word Kursi (Throne), which personifies the power and absolute authority of Allah over creation. This verse is the most famous verse of the Holy Quran.

Whoever recites verse al-Kursi after the obligatory prayer will be protected until the next obligatory prayer. Whoever reads the verse of al-Kursi in the morning will be safe until the evening, and whoever reads it in the evening will be safe until the morning. It is recommended to read verse al-Kursi and surahs 112, 113 and 114 before going to bed.

The importance of the verse Al-Kursi

It is reported that one day, Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, while guarding the collected zakat, caught a thief who said to him: “Let me go, and I will teach you such words that Allah will make useful for you!” Abu Hurayrah asked: “What are these words?” He said: “When you go to bed, read “Ayat al-Kursi” from beginning to end, and a guardian from Allah will always be with you, and Satan will not be able to approach you until the morning!” After this, Abu Hurayrah told the Prophet about this, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said: “He really told you the truth, despite the fact that he is a notorious liar!” After which the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, told Abu Hurayrah that it was the Shaitan himself in the form of a man (Al-Bukhari “Sahih” 2311).

Ubay ibn Ka'b said: “Once the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, asked me: “O Abul-Munzir, do you know which verse from the Book of Allah is the greatest?” I said: “This is a verse that says: Allah - there is no deity worthy of worship except Him, the Living, the Almighty...” (verse al-Kursi) After this, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, slapped me on the chest and said: “Yes You will be happy in knowledge, O Abul-Munzir! ”(Muslim “Sahih” 810).

Ayat al-Kursi and the benefits of reading it

One of the most frequently repeated and famous verses of the Final Revelation of the Almighty is “Ayatul-Kursi” (or verse “al-Kursi” - “Ayat of the Throne”). It is given in the second sura of the Book of Allah - “Al-Baqarah” (“The Cow”) under number 255.

It is reported from Abu Hurayrah (ra) that the Messenger of the Lord Muhammad (s.g.w.) admonished his ummah: “Truly, everything has a peak, and Surah “Bakara” is the peak of the Koran. And in this surah there is an verse that is the master of all the verses of the Koran - Ayatul-Kursi” (transmitted in the collections of Hakim and at-Tirmidhi).

In Arabic the text of “Ayat of the Throne”

looks like that:

Translation of the meaning: Allah - there is no god but Him, and only He should we worship. Allah is Alive, Existing and preserves the existence of all people. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overwhelms him; He alone owns what is in the heavens and on earth; and He has no equal. Who will intercede for another before Him without His permission? Allah - glory to Him Almighty! - knows everything that has happened and what will happen. No one can comprehend anything from His wisdom and knowledge except what He allows. The Throne of Allah, His knowledge and His power are greater than the heavens and the earth, and His protection of them does not burden Him. Truly, He is the Most High, the One and the Great!

Many hadiths are devoted to the significance and greatness of this verse. Some of them are reliable, but there are also weak ones (in other words, there is a loss or questionable transmitters in the chain of transmitters).

For example, it is reported that if a believer recites the verse “al-Kursi” to himself after completing the obligatory prayers before pronouncing the dhikrs of tasbiha (33 times “SubhanAllah”, “Alhamdulillah” and “Allahu Akbar!”), then nothing will stop him after death to get to heaven.

It is also known that the fourth righteous caliph Ali (ra) said: “I do not understand those who, when going to bed, do not read the Ayat of the Throne.” According to him, if a person realized the degree of greatness of this verse, he would never neglect to read it, because this fragment of the Noble Quran was revealed to the Final Messenger of God (s.g.v.) from Arsh itself.

It is believed that reading “Ayat al-Kursi” helps to overcome the shaitan and rid the home of him. You can learn this dua by repeating the Koran-hafiz on our video, which also provides a transcription in Russian letters:

No one has any doubts or disagreements about the importance of constantly quoting Ayatul-Kursi. The reason is simple: the names of the Almighty and the highest qualities inherent only to Him are very often mentioned here: Hayu (Eternally living, He who has neither beginning nor end); Qayyum (Existing, Independent of anyone or anything, not needing anyone or anything); Aliyu (Highest, Highly Honored); Azyimu (The Greatest).

In addition, the verse “al-Kursi” provides such signs of the Creator as:

  • Vahdaniyat (Unity): “Allah - there is no god but Him...”;
  • Geylm (Possession of knowledge): “...knows everything that was and what will be. No one can comprehend anything from His wisdom and knowledge except what He allows”;
  • Malik (sovereignty): “He alone owns what is in the heavens and on the earth; and He has no equal...";
  • Qudrat (Power): “The Throne of Allah, His knowledge and His power are broader than the heavens and the earth, and His protection of them does not burden Him”;
  • Irada (Will): “Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him,” “no one can comprehend anything from His wisdom and knowledge except what He allows” (2:255).

This passage from Surah Baqarah has this name because of the word “Kursi” mentioned in it. Theologians have given it different interpretations. Hassan Basri believed that this refers to the Arsh (Throne) of the Lord of the Worlds. Ibn Kathir assured that “kursi” does not simply mean Arsh, but it is something more than a throne. Abdullah ibn Abbas (ra), in turn, emphasized: “Kursi” means gyylm (knowledge) of our Creator.

Hadith about Ayatul-Kursi No. 10

Ibn Mas'ud ﺮﻀﻲﷲﻋﻨﻪ said:

“Once one of the companions of Muhammad ﷺ met a man from among the jinn. They began to fight and the man won. Jin told him, “Let’s do it again!” But the man defeated him again. Then the man said: “Verily, I see that you are weak, and your wrists are like the wrists of a dog. Is this what you look like, O gin community? Or is it just you? He replied: “No, by Allah, I have power among them! But let’s fight again, and if you defeat me, then I will teach you something that will benefit you.” They began to fight again and the man won again. Then the genie said: “I will teach you what I promised. Do you read Ayatul-Kursi? He answered: “Yes.” The genie said: “Truly, if you read this verse when you go home, then the Shaitan will definitely come out of there and will not return there until the morning.” He who heard this story from Ibn Mas'ud ﺮﻀﻲﷲﻋﻨﻪ asked him: “O Abu 'Abdur-Rahman, who was that person from among the Companions? Isn't it 'Umar? To which Ibn Mas'ud ﺮﻀﻲﷲﻋﻨﻪ said: “And who could be him besides 'Umar ﺮﻀﻲﷲﻋﻨﻪ?!” (Ibn Abi ad-Dunya, al-Bayhaqi).

  1. Imam Ali, may peace be upon him, said: “Every book has a quintessence. The quintessence of this Book (the Koran) is contained in “literal abbreviations”" (Kashani, “As-Safi”, vol. 1, p. 78). Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: “Alif, lam, mim are part of the letters of one of the “most beautiful” names of Allah. These letters are scattered in disorder throughout the text of the Qur'an, and every time the Prophet and the sinless Imams call Allah by this name, their prayers are accepted by the Almighty" (Nusrat Amin, Makhzan al-'irfan, vol. 1, p. 66).
    Imam Sajjad, may peace be upon him, said: “The Quraish and the Jews rejected the Qur'an with the words: 'It is just a fiction. He wrote it himself." Then Allah said: „Alif. Lam. Mime. This is the [great] Scripture...” (2:1), in other words: “O Muhammad! This book that was sent down to you is made up of individual letters, and among them is Alif, Lam, Mim. These are the same letters as the letters of the alphabet that you [people] use in your words. If you are sincere, then create something like this.’” (Al-Burhan, vol. 1, p. 54).

    Imam Reza, may peace be upon him, said: “Truly, the Koran was written in the same letters that all Arabs use every day.” Allah, the Glorious and the Almighty, said: “Say: “If people and jinn gather to bring the like of this Quran, they will not bring the like of it, even if they are each other’s support [and support]” ( 17:88).

  2. Imam Ali, may peace be upon him, said: “He who fears the wrath of Allah is one whose actions will not cause him shame, even if they are exposed to everyone.” (Nusrat Amin, Makhzan al-'irfan, vol. 1 , p. 82).
  3. About the phrase “From what We have given them they spend [in the path of Allah]” (2:3) Imam Sadiq, may peace be upon him, said: “It means that people share information and scientific knowledge that Allah taught them "(Majma' al-bayan, vol. 1, p. 39).
  4. Imam Bakir, may peace be upon him, said about this verse: “Whoever reads the verse Al-Kursi once, Allah will grant relief from thousands of earthly hardships, the easiest of which is poverty, and from thousands of troubles in the hereafter. , the easiest of which is the torment of the grave” (“Bihar al-anwar”, vol. 92, p. 262).
  5. Imam Sadiq, may peace be upon him, said: “In comparison with the Throne of Omnipotence, heaven and earth are like a ring lying in the middle of the desert. In turn, the Throne of Omnipotence in comparison with the Heavenly Throne is like such a ring” (“Al-Burkhan”, vol. 1, p. 241).
  6. This verse, which prohibits compulsion in faith, was revealed in connection with a resident of Medina named Abu Hasyn, who had two sons. Several Christian merchants, who brought goods from other countries to Medina, persuaded young people to convert to Christianity every time they met. And the young men began to seriously think about their speeches. This made their father very worried. Abu Hasyn came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and his family, and, telling him everything, asked to return his sons to the true path and asked if this could be done by force.
  7. Imam Ali, may peace be upon him, condemning those who follow the devil, said: “They took the devil as their ruler for their affairs, and he took them as his companions. He laid eggs and hatched in their chests, groveling and crawling in their knees, seeing them with his eyes, speaking in their language, he loaded them with sins and embellished abomination for them - the actions of those whom Shaitan took as co-rulers in his kingdom, expressing in their language your vain thoughts! (“Nahj al-balagha”, khutbah 7). Imam Ali also said: “O people! Truly, the source of the origin of all kinds of confusion is the vain thoughts that people follow... And if the truth were revealed in all its purity, then there would be no disagreements, but, however, some are taken from here and some from there and mixed with each other, and thus The devil most takes possession of his followers, but those for whom the good word of Allah comes first are saved” (“Al-Kafi”, vol. 1, p. 54).
  8. When the previous verse was revealed, in which the believers were informed that Allah knows everything that is in their souls, and that He keeps a record of all their secret thoughts and obvious intentions, the group of the companions of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and his family, was overwhelmed fear. They shared their fears with the Prophet, saying that none of them could consider themselves free from any sinful thoughts and internal temptations. After this, this verse was revealed, which taught them how to believe in Allah, in what words to put their prayers to Him and how to express their humility and submission before Him.
  9. Imam Kazym, may peace be upon him, often turned to Allah with prayers, saying: “Lord, truly, I ask You to grant me peace of mind at the hour of death and forgiveness on the Day of Reckoning” (Mufid, “Al-Irshad”).

Translations of the meanings of the Koran (Sura 2, verse 255)

Elmir Kuliev

Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Living, the Almighty. Neither drowsiness nor sleep takes possession of him. To Him belongs what is in heaven and what is on earth. Who will intercede before Him without His permission? He knows their future and past. They comprehend from His knowledge only what He wills. His Throne (Foot of the Throne) embraces heaven and earth, and His preservation of them does not burden Him. He is the Exalted, the Great.

Abu Adel

Allah - there is no god [deserving worship] except Him, (He) is the Most Living [eternal and eternally alive], the Existing [exists without the need of anyone, and everyone needs Him]; neither drowsiness [half-asleep] nor sleep takes Him; (only) to Him belongs (all) what is in the heavens and what is on earth. Who (can) intercede (for someone) before Him, without His permission? He knows what will be ahead of them [the future] and what was behind them [the past], but they do not comprehend anything from His knowledge (about Himself and what He knows), except (only) what He wills ( so they know). His Throne [al-Kursi - the place of His feet] embraces the heavens and the earth, and the protection of them [the heavens and the earth] does not burden Him [it is not difficult for Him]; truly, He is the Highest [above all things], Great (by His essence, power and differences)!

Magomed-Nuri Osmanov

Allah - there is no deity except Him, eternally living, eternally existing. Neither drowsiness nor sleep has power over Him. To Him belongs what is in heaven and what is on earth. Who will, without His permission, intercede before Him [for anyone]? He knows what happened before people and what will happen after them. People comprehend from His knowledge only what He wills. Heaven and earth are subject to Him; it is not a burden for Him to protect them. He is the Most High, the Great.

Valeria (Iman) Porokhova

Allah! There is no deity but Him, the Living and Self-Existing One from all eternity! Neither sleep nor drowsiness inclines Him, He alone owns everything in heaven and on earth. Who can intercede before Him without His permission? He knows everything that preceded them (arrival) and what will follow their (departure). And from His knowledge they are destined to comprehend only (the little) that He allows. His Throne (Power) stretches over the heavens and earth - their safety is not a burden to Him. In His power He is truly great and (extremely) exalted.

Ignatius Krachkovsky

Allah - there is no deity except Him, living, existing; neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him; To Him belongs what is in the heavens and on earth. Who will intercede before Him, except with His permission? He knows what was before them and what will be after them, but they do not comprehend anything from His knowledge except what He wills. His throne embraces the heavens and the earth, and His guardianship does not burden Him; truly, He is high, great!

Gordiy Sablukov

God - there is no other venerable one except Him, the living, ever-present. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overwhelms him; in His power is everything that is in heaven and on earth. Who can appear before Him without His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them: they comprehend His wisdom only to the extent that He pleases. His throne is broader than heaven and earth, and keeping both of them is not a burden for Him, because He is high and powerful.

Mikhailo Yakubovich

Allah! There is no God, except for the New - Living, Existing! There is no drowsiness, no sleep. I will include those who are in heaven and those who are on earth. Who can intercede before Him without permission? They know those who are in front of them and those who are behind them. They don’t feel bad about knowing anything other than what Vin says. Yogo’s throne consumes heaven and earth, and Yogo is not weary of preserving them. І Він — Almighty, Great!

Hadith about Ayatul-Kursi No. 9

From Ubayy ibn Ka'b ﺮﻀﻲﷲﻋﻨﻪ it is reported that one day his supplies of dates were decreasing, and one night he decided to guard them. Then he saw someone like an adult youth, with whom he greeted and asked: “Who are you, a genie or a man?!” He replied: “Gin.” Ubay said: “Extend your hand to me.” When he extended his hand to him, he found that his hand was like the paw of a dog with dog hair. Ubay asked: “Is this how genies were created?!” He said: “The genies know that there is no one among them stronger than me.” Ubay ﺮﻀﻲﷲﻋﻨﻪ asked: “What brought you?” He said: “We heard that you like to make sadaka, so we came to take some food from you.” Ubay ﺮﻀﻲﷲﻋﻨﻪ asked: “What protects us from you?” The genie replied: “Ayatul-Kursi from Surah al-Baqarah.” Whoever reads this verse in the morning will be protected from us until the evening, and whoever reads it in the evening will be protected from us until the morning.” When dawn broke, Ubay ﺮﻀﻲﷲﻋﻨﻪ came to the Prophet ﷺ and told him everything, to which the Messenger of the Lord ﷺ replied: “He spoke the truth, even though he is bad!” (Imams at-Tabarani, an-Nasai, Ibn Hibban).
