King David and his story
The Prophet was born into the family of a simple shepherd and spent his early years tending his father's sheep. He differed from his peers in his unearthly beauty, eloquence, physical strength and musical talents. He showed himself to be a brave and pure-spirited man, so God ordered his ambassador to go to David and anoint him. After this, the Holy Spirit lived in David.
For a long time, David was at the court of King Saul, where he established strong friendships with his son. When the king noticed how the popularity of his courtier was growing, he tried several times to kill the divine chosen one, which is why he had to flee the palace.

After long wanderings and seeking refuge with his followers, who numbered more than half a thousand, the anointed one of God led the Israeli state and took its throne. He always revered God, turned to him for help in solving political problems, praised and glorified the power of the Creator before his followers.
According to the Bible, the prophet, although a favorite of the Lord, was a sinner. Having desired the woman of his military leader, he ordered him to be sent to certain death and entered into intimate intimacy with his wife. For this he suffered divine punishment - his first son died. After what happened, David repented and humbly accepted the will of the Creator.
The Psalmist's Story
The story of the psalmist is described in detail in the book of Kings in the Old Testament.
At that time, Israel had King Saul, who angered Yahweh with his wicked behavior, and the prophet Samuel received instructions from Him to find a new king. He went to the family indicated by the Almighty and wanted to anoint one of the sons. Despite the fact that the psalmist had older brothers, very handsome and strong, and more importantly, adults, Samuel anointed little David, who was tending sheep at that time, to the kingdom, because the Holy Spirit rested on him.
During long walks and herding sheep, the future sovereign constantly glorified the Almighty on the harp; this was a habitual activity for him, and God was lenient towards him. There is a story that David struck down a bear and a lion when they wanted to encroach on the sheep. The story of Goliath is also famous, when a little shepherd killed a giant and skilled fighter with a sling.
Thanks to his courage, beauty and intelligence, God's anointed became everyone's favorite, except for Saul, who hated and began to persecute the young man as a competitor.
Saul was later killed and David took the throne of Israel, thus fulfilling Samuel's prophecy. The sovereign ruled for about 50 years and then gave up the throne to his son Solomon, who is no less famous for his wisdom. From their lineage Christ came, and prophecies about this can be found in several psalms.
The Orthodox Church reveres this man as a great prophet and righteous man. The image of the psalmist is reflected in:
