- What are we defeated by: pride, vanity, self-love, or we strive for humility.
It is necessary to analyze your own state so as not to be in a suspended position. When one part of a person strives for the Heavenly, and the other enjoys sins. This is called knowing yourself, at least superficially. Taking an honest look from this position, we will understand that temptations were not sent in vain, moreover, we deserve them. They attracted us with their own passions, moving away from God.
Remember: Man's destiny is to become a god. Having known good and evil, learn to do the first, escape the second. We pass exams on earth. The results determine whether we will enter a higher institution or remain on the outskirts with tormenting demons. So don't despair. Knowing the ultimate goal, joyfully accept admonitions from God.
The attentive will understand the benefits of evil people and enemies. This is evidenced by the search for saving prayer, that is, God’s help. By the way: If there were no evil people or enemies in the world, then there would be no saints. Temptations make a person skilled in the fight against demonic machinations.
How to fix everything?
Essentially we are of little faith. It is very difficult to surrender one’s life entirely to God’s providence. Arrogance removes one from the Lord and prevents one from accepting comprehensive help and protection. Therefore, prayer can be very weak and does not give results. Fear of trouble makes us defenseless. You must firmly believe:
- The Lord controls everything;
- we suffer because of our own sins (past, current, likely to happen);
- evil is allowed for our good.
Trust in the Heavenly Forces will make us calm, courageous, and humble. This will lead to union with God. And where a union is concluded, temptation and suffering cease. That is, for prayer to help, an internal change is necessary, and not a simple reading of the holy text.
