Miracles at the grave of the Holy Elder Sampson

On the territory of the churchyard there is the grave of the Holy Elder Sampson.

He was the son of a count and was friends with Emperor Nicholas II. In 1917 The young man takes monastic vows and becomes monk Alexander. In 1922 In the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, the monk takes monastic vows again and becomes a hierodeacon with the name Simeon (Sampson). He suffered many arrests, imprisonments and ordeals. Sampson died of cancer in 1979.

During his lifetime, the elder was the spiritual mentor of a large number of monks and lay people. After the burial of the martyr, miracles of healing began to occur at his grave.

Thanks to his prayers, one can receive healing from deadly diseases. The elder especially asks for the children, for finding work, housing and other everyday difficulties. The main thing in this is faith, coming from the whole heart.

There are many testimonies of miracles that occurred at the grave of the Holy Elder Sampson. Here are some of them:

  • A desperate woman with a small child in her arms asked the elder to help restore relations with her husband and return him to the family. Thanks to Father Sampson's prayers, her life improved.
  • The young woman asked in prayers to relieve her of constant headaches, the cause of which doctors could not find. Help, she said, arrived immediately.
  • There is a lot of evidence of the elder’s help in finding and buying a home.
  • A man, while on a business trip in the Leningrad region, fell from a height. Diagnosis: compound fracture of the calcaneus. The hospital said surgery and a plate would be needed. All this time the young man fervently prayed to the elder. As a result, it was possible to simply apply plaster.
  • Helped me get out of a long-term depression.
  • There is evidence of recovery from drug addiction and alcoholism.
  • Father helps get rid of ailments for which doctors are powerless: radiculitis, infertility, bronchial asthma, arthritis, oncology.
  • It helps even pets cope with illness.
  • Helps everyone in need find decent work.

All these miracles can be treated differently. Some will say it's just a coincidence, others will believe it. And it’s all about faith. An ardent believer who offers prayer to a saint with all his heart can really receive help.

But don't go to extremes. There are situations, especially when it comes to a person’s physical and mental health, when the lack of professional help can end in tragedy. Oncology is one such topic. Miracles of cure are most likely defects in the diagnosis of the disease. Faith is faith, but you shouldn’t forget about common sense.

Apologist

In the 80s, I read the book by Elder Sampson, which is mentioned here. Then I studied at the Leningrad Theological Seminary in the regency department. I really liked the book and gave it to my husband to read. At first he also liked the book, and then, as he read it, he suddenly said: “There’s something wrong here!”

Although I defended the elder, I myself noticed that his children, mostly women, were praying with some kind of anguish, as if in a fire, without paying attention to anyone. Such sensual prayer is not welcomed in Orthodoxy

The elder's children have huge portraits of him hanging in their homes. It’s also somehow strange and not modest. Restless nuns walk around Leningrad, ordained by the elder in abundance. And it was especially alarming that this same old man broke up marriages. I already knew several single women who were divorced with his “blessing.” My husband and I went with this book to our confessor, Father Vladimir Zalipsky. If anyone doesn’t know, I’ll say that Father Vladimir was a priest of high spiritual life. And that's to say the least. He served in the Tallinn Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. It turned out that he knew this old man. Before his schema, his name was Simeon and he was at one time a resident of the Pskov-Pechersk Lavra. And Father Vladimir’s confessor was from the same monastery, and his name, by the way, was also Simeon. Father Vladimir did not advise us to read this man’s book. He said that this Smeon Sivers was a very proud man, arrogant. He told how one day this Simeon had to be brought by force to the council of elders, since he himself refused to go there. And Father Vladimir transparently hinted at the “elder’s” non-traditional sexual orientation. Everything became clear to me with him. All the strange places in the book, such as how girls were like flies to him, or how attractive the bishop was in a women's knitted sweater, all this fell into place. I told my friend from the seminary about this resume of Father Vladimir, who, again by the way, was from Pechory. She was indignant. Elder Sampson was her mother’s confessor. She even divorced her father with his blessing, “for obedience”! Her mother had been at the Pechersk Monastery all her life, how could she have made such a mistake?! No, Father Vladimir is mistaken. But still, my friend went with the book of the “elder” Sampson to her confessor, Father John Krestyankin. And he says to her: Nastenka, don’t read this book! She told him about his mother, and he told him again: you don’t need to read this book, that’s all. So I no longer began to read it myself or offer it to others. I remember this book was thick. And in the nineties, in Taleen, I was invited to an evening dedicated to a certain holy elder. My heart felt like this was about Sampson. And so it happened. Again huge portraits, this time covering the entire stage, laudatory speeches about his “teachings,” in particular about prayer, which is torn from the soul. Now it reminded me of a sect: a poster-sized leader and his immortal teaching. I have met at least three holy people in my life. This is Father Vladimir Zalipsky, Father John Krestyankin and Father Nikolai from Zalita Island. All of them are already in the other world, but around their names there is no pomp, no exaltation, no portraits the size of a house. And they were modest in appearance during their lifetime. Simeon Sivers was the confessor of Patriarch Pimen. Father Vladimir told me this. Patriarch Pimen was a simple man, not a scientist or of noble birth, and what appealed to him about Sivers was that he was a man of high, noble origin, and even received an excellent education. Fortunately, our patriarchy has no shortage of historians who are able to separate the seeds from the chaff, and simply smart, feeling people who are not fooled by the “fiery gaze” and other entourage of trust swindlers who use the church to achieve their own selfish goals. As for the fulfillment of prayers “at the intercession of the holy elder,” God gives according to a person’s faith, and is unlikely to throw a stone at him because he is sincerely mistaken. In the Orthodox Church there are many real saints, pillars of faith, giants of the spirit. And there is no need to look far into antiquity, there are our contemporaries, there is a lot of good spiritual literature. But, apparently, there will be scammers and sects as long as there are people ready to be deceived.

Miracle Prayer to Sampson

The Monk Samson was the son of noble and wealthy Romans. He received a good education, studied the art of medicine and helped the sick for free. After the death of his parents, he released the slaves and was going to go into the desert. But, by the will of the Lord, Sampson ended up in Constantinople, where, settling in a modest home, he treated and helped the sick, the poor and wanderers. The Lord blessed him and gave him the power to work miracles. Sampson healed the sick not only with medical knowledge, but also with the power of the divine word. Rumor of Sampson's Prayer

spread widely in Constantinople. Soon, by decree of the Patriarch, Sampson became a priest.

Miracle healings from prayer to Sampson

One day, the seriously ill Emperor Justinian had a vision that his healing was possible, and he could receive it through Saint Sampson. The saint was summoned to the emperor, and indeed, the prayer of Hieromonk Sampson worked a miracle - the emperor immediately felt relief, and soon the illness completely disappeared. Justin wanted to thank the saint with gold, but he refused and asked, instead of thanking himself, to build a hospital for everyone and a hospice. The emperor fulfilled the request. The saint devoted his entire life to serving people. After the death of the saint, miracles of healing people also continue.

Prayer to the Guardian Angel for help with money

Prayer to the Guardian Angel for money begins with mandatory repentance. In general, all Orthodox rituals always begin with the Angel Fast and Confession. To get your requests met, you must first cleanse yourself, show the Lord your readiness and zeal, and then pray for money

I appeal to you, angel of Christ. You protected me and protected me, and kept me, for I have not sinned before and will not sin in the future against faith. So respond now, come down on me and help me. I worked very hard, and now you see my honest hands with which I worked. So let it be, as Scripture teaches, that labor will be rewarded. Reward me according to my labors, holy one, so that my hand, weary with labor, may be filled, and I may live comfortably and serve God. Saint Sampson the Host

Saint Sampson the Host is one of those who completed his earthly journey not with martyrdom, but with a quiet and painless death. He was an unmercenary doctor who set others an example of selfless love for one's neighbor and Christian charity.

Saint Sampson's parents were noble and wealthy Romans. They gave their son a good education. Sampson was attracted to medicine from his youth. Therefore, he enjoyed mastering the art of healing. He had a very important goal in life - to learn to help people with illnesses and illnesses, to heal and alleviate suffering.

After the death of his parents, the Savior Himself appeared to Sampson in a dream and gave the rich young man advice: “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your property and give it to the poor; and you will have treasure in heaven; and come and follow Me” (Matthew 19:21). Sampson distributed everything he inherited to the poor, freed all the slaves and retired to the desert to lead a strict hermit life.

But the saint did not stay long in the desert. He went to Constantinople, rented a small house, treated the sick and gave shelter to the poor and strangers. People's rumors about Sampson's virtue reached the Patriarch of Constantinople. He appreciated the merits of the unmercenary before the Lord and awarded him the rank of priest.

It so happened that the Emperor of Byzantium, Justinian I, suffered an insidious and serious illness. The court doctors were powerless to do anything. Justinian was getting worse every day. The emperor could only trust in God's mercy. One day, in a sleepy vision, Justinian heard a voice announcing that only one person could cure his illness - the disinterested doctor Sampson. The healer was immediately taken to the palace, and he healed the emperor from his illness with prayers. Grateful Justinian was ready to shower Sampson with rich gifts, but the unmercenary refused everything. He turned to the emperor with a request to build a hospital for the poor and open a hospice. Soon the ruler fulfilled the saint’s request, even assigning maintenance for this charitable institution.

Reverend Sampson died around 530. The hospice house that Justinian built became a temple, and next to it a large building was built to shelter wanderers and the disadvantaged. Hundreds and thousands of pilgrims began to come to the saint’s tomb, hoping to receive healing from the holy relics of Sampson, nicknamed the Stranger.

The Orthodox Church celebrates the Memorial Day of St. Sampson the Host on July 10 (June 27, old style).

In honor of the holy, unmercenary doctor, churches in almshouses and nursing homes are consecrated in the Christian world. The first such temple was opened a long time ago in the Constantinople almshouse at the Hagia Sophia. The founder of the temple was the holy Venerable Andrew of Crete.

You should pray to Saint Sampson the Receiver for any mental or physical ailments.

Troparion (Tone 8)

In your patience you have gained your reward, Reverend Father, in your prayers you are unceasingly patient, loving the poor and satisfied with this, but pray to Christ God, the merciful blessed Sampson, to save our souls.

Like an all-round physician and a favorable prayer book, flowing to your race, O reverend Sampson the God-Wise, coming together with love, psalms and hymns, rejoicing, we glorify Christ, giving you such grace as healing.

Oh, warm prayer book, gracious father, Reverend Sampson! Pray to God for me, a sinner, and send down help and deliverance from the All-Good Lord, for my life is temporary and full of work, sorrows and illnesses. Strengthen my heart, so that I can bear my burden, and do not let me, so that my many small strengths will overcome temptations, but help me with your intercession and, in the midst of circumstances and troubles, direct my path to the Kingdom of Heaven, so that I may glorify the Lord who is glorified in you forever. Amen.

Orthodox akathist to Sampson

The Lord provides His help to everyone living on earth through the prayers of the Saints to whom He gave holiness. One of these miracle workers is a saint with a long-suffering fate - Hieroschemamonk Sampson, an elder who became an ambulance, mentor and doctor for Christian believers. Having walked the path of Christian deed, this pious elder was awarded not only the love and veneration of the Orthodox people, but was also immortalized in prayers and church akathists to Sampson Sivers. Being a true ascetic, a man of prayer and a miracle worker, God’s chosen one Sampson, in the difficult years after the revolution of 1917, suffered the feat of martyrdom for Christ. For 18 years he was forced to suffer from repression, arriving in prison, experiencing ordeals, persecution, humiliation and persecution. But being protected by the Lord, he preserved the purity of Orthodoxy in his long-suffering heart, carrying the source of love for the Orthodox people throughout his life. And today, reading the akathist to the stranger Sampson, Orthodox Christians feel his presence among them.

Christian akathist to Saint Sampson

The most difficult trials that the holy elder endured did not make his soul callous or his heart evil. In the akathist to the long-suffering Sampson, they ask the Lord: “Take away the heart of stone and give me a fiery heart,” in order to continue to carry the source of faith and love to the Almighty. In his sermons, Sampson said that evil has nothing to do with Christianity, God is love and he who abides in love arrives in God. Nowadays, an endless stream of believers not only from Russia, but also from America, Ukraine, and Israel rush to the grave of the holy shepherd - the elder schema-monk. Estonia and other countries.

In Sampson’s akathist, Christian believers see the elder’s fiery prayer before the Lord Almighty for every weak and sinner. In the Orthodox industry there are many spiritual works of the hieroschemamonk, which are published in different languages, as well as amazing testimonies of Christians about first aid through his prayers to the Lord. Miraculous healings still occur at the saint’s grave today. About two hundred thousand petitions for his canonization became evidence of his special love for the elder. Elder Sampson is immortalized in the memory of the Christian people as one of the brightest spiritual luminaries of the twentieth century.

Text of the Akathist to Sampson Sivers

You have been chosen by the Lord to be a gracious physician and a merciful host of strangers, honoring the image of your honest love, and prayerfully now approaching you, we honor you according to the heritage of our Reverend Father Sampson. But you, because you have boldness towards the Lord, free us from all troubles, calling:

Rejoice, Sampson, merciful father and wonderful physician.

As an angel in heaven, constantly glorifying God, the Creator and Ruler of all, you became likened to the God-inspired Sampson on earth, for with your wondrous good deeds and many labors you glorified the Father Who is in heaven, revealing His ineffable goodness and mercy to people. Now, being established in the heavenly villages of glory, do not forget us, who call to you with love:

Rejoice, imitator beyond angels;

Rejoice, good and faithful servant of the King of glory.

Rejoice, worthy chosen one of God;

Rejoice, servant of the Father's mercy.

Rejoice, sacred head, enlightened by God’s wisdom;

Rejoice, perplexed height in prayers of unceasing patience.

Rejoice, you who took the good yoke of Christ upon your shoulder;

Rejoice, you who entered into the joy of your Lord and received an incorruptible crown from Him.

Rejoice, Sampson, merciful father and wonderful physician.

Seeing faith with your eyes, as if you were God-imitating for the sake of your life in the monastery of the venerables, where the unfading light abides, you have taken up residence and are worthily counted among those glorified by God, so that you will be the heir of the eternal Kingdom of Christ, crying out to the Lord who has willed for you: Alleluia.

You showed reason in virtue, God-wise Sampson, in reason there was abstinence, in abstinence there was patience, in patience there was piety, in piety there was brotherly love: and in all this the firstfruits of the flame of faith was in you. In the same way, from the beginning, we praise your virtuous life and course, reverend, and we please you:

Rejoice, glorious ancient vegetation of ancient Rome;

Rejoice, honest and noble parents, noble branch.

Rejoice, you who have been a zealous zealot since your youth of faith and piety;

Rejoice, wise builder of the ladders of spiritual virtues within you.

Rejoice, refined in the teachings of human wisdom;

Rejoice, for the sake of serving the poor, you have received the wisdom of doctors.

Rejoice, sincere servant of the Lord Christ from childhood;

Rejoice, you took pride in Him for everyone.

Rejoice, Sampson, merciful father and wonderful physician.

We are overshadowed by the power of the Most High, in faith, hope, love and reason you have graciously grown, most blessed, you have applied understanding to the human teaching of the Divine Scriptures and, having understood the art of human healing, you have acquired the grace-filled healing power from the Lord through your virtues, standing before Him with boldness and faith and I always cry out to love: Alleluia.

Having much zeal for the Lord, that you might serve Him with all your heart and all your life, you denied yourself, the wondrous ascetic Sampson, and left your possessions and took up your cross, you followed Christ; For fear that you passed away as your parent and left behind much of your acquisitions, you squandered your perishable wealth on the poor and, having granted freedom to your slave, you appeared as a stranger. For this reason, we tenderly call you:

Rejoice, thou who followed the words of the Gospel;

Rejoice, thou who art befitting thee without being stubborn.

Rejoice, having loved the only Christ in the earthly life with all your heart;

Rejoice, You who sought Him alone with all your understanding.

Rejoice, thou who have imputed love for His sake in thy thoughts;

Rejoice, for His sake the red world despised.

Rejoice, thou who art quickly perishing wealth and everlasting and everlasting;

Rejoice, having found treasure in heaven and not on earth for your heart.

Rejoice, Sampson, merciful father and wonderful physician.

The young man is troubled by a storm of acquisitive thoughts, as if he were speaking the Gospel, when he heard the word of the Lord: “Go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and come after Me,” and he departed mourning. But you, father, joyfully created this according to the good word of Christ and, having renounced the bonds of wealth, covered yourself with a single robe and girded your loins with a rope, you have acquired the spoken perfection, and, let us confuse nothing, cry out to God: Alleluia.

Hearing the voice of the Lord, calling you in your soul, God-bearing Father Sampson, you left the old Rome, you moved into the desert, like Elijah of old, yes, you ascended to the heights of virtue, served the believers in New Rome, Constantine the King of the City, in which you found a temple, in Thou didst dwell in that one, giving rest to the strange and the poor, receiving the weak, and quickly giving every satisfaction to Christ for the sake of creating and healing the sick. We, the leader of this, praise you like this:

Rejoice, deserted creature, delighted by God into the great city, and adorn this city with you;

Rejoice, you who have shown the beauty of your mercy to the city of Constantine, so that the holy faith may be glorified in it.

Rejoice, you who hungrily and thirstily gave Christ water there;

Rejoice, Who is strangely received and naked in clothing.

Rejoice, you who visited this sick person and have no place to lay your head, a former vitality;

Rejoice, thou who hast done this to the Lord, even as thou hast done this unto His lesser brethren.

Rejoice, most blessed one, having served Christ Himself among the poor, the sick and the strange;

Rejoice, having heard His blessed voice: “Come, blessed of My Father, and inherit the Kingdom prepared for you.”

Rejoice, Sampson, merciful father and wonderful physician.

You covered the divine power of miracles, reverend, with the image of human healing, great for the sake of your humility, so that you, like a miracle worker, are glorified and revered by people. Otherwise, the lamp on the candlestick cannot hide, standing below the city or on top of the mountain. For this reason, having seen the power of God, I am doing healings through you, the patriarch joyfully ordained you as a presbyter, and in the assembly of priests you cried out to God: Alleluia.

Seeing that he had fallen into an unhealed illness, King Justinian called upon many of the most skillful doctors: but for those who were unable to heal him, cry out with tears to God, diligently asking for healing. Moreover, having mercy, the Lord, in a night vision, showed him you, Father, as a gracious physician, able to heal him; and the king, warm with faith, called you, with a tender kiss and with tears, prayed that through you he would be healed, and therefore be healthy. Knowing this, we call you, reverend:

Rejoice, servant of the Most High King, His prosperous messenger to the earthly king;

Rejoice, all-round physician, who miraculously healed the ailing king’s illness through healing grace.

Rejoice, comforter of the sorrowful, fill the joys that flow to you;

Rejoice, joy of the faithful, who brought joy in the Lord to the king and his people through healing.

Rejoice, wondrous one without money, you have renounced the rich gifts of the king, gold and silver;

Rejoice, most merciful and hospitable to strangers, who moved the king’s heart to create a host of strangers and a physician.

Rejoice, wonderful builder, having no gold and silver, creating a monastery enriched for the sick and poor;

Rejoice, you who loved the poor and who served most in your monastery even to the end.

Rejoice, Sampson, merciful father and wonderful physician.

The venerable Church preaches to your memory, O holy Sampson, that you achieved a good old age through the labors of hospitality and healing, but at the end of your life you were alien to the fear of death, but you appeared with a bright face, when your blessed soul was separated from your body, and you passed away rejoicing Lord, may you always be with Him, together with the angelic faces crying out: Alleluia.

Your grace-filled love for the poor and strange in your earthly life, Father Sampson, for the sake of which your hospitable host and physician was quickly created, but even after the end of your earthly life your hospitable care did not fail: for by your wondrous appearance you protected the hospitable monastery from the burning of fire. For this reason, in wonder and reverence we say:

Rejoice, thou who art most graciously welcoming in thy life;

Rejoice, and upon your repose you are a strange and trustworthy patron.

Rejoice, in earthly life there is refuge and deliverance for the poor;

Rejoice, in the heavenly realm there is help and intercession for your property.

Rejoice, thy abode, surrounded by stormy fire, visiting from heaven;

Rejoice, thou who forbade the flame and directed it away from thy house.

Rejoice, for through your prayers the great rain was shed and the flame was extinguished;

Rejoice, for through you you saved a refuge for the strange and sick from burning.

Rejoice, Sampson, merciful father and wonderful physician.

Although the Lord, the lover of mankind, has shown in you, father, unspeakable mercy for people, showing you, even after your dormition, is a healer of all kinds: for I am glorious to Theodoret, who suffered fiercely, appeared in a dream, and did healing, and so did the boyar Leo, who was incurably ill, together with the saints, doctors You proclaimed healing through Cosmos and Damian, and you are in good health. In the same way, you moved the noble and glorious, together with the poor and wretched, to cry out to God with gratitude: Alleluia.

After your departure, a new source of healing appeared from you, the miracle worker Sampson, in the temple of your carnal and spiritual south, the martyr Mokia, where your laid coffin began to exude healing myrrh, with which all sorts of ailments anointed, anointing with faith, I received health and glorified you to my face:

Rejoice, depth of humility exalted by God;

Rejoice, glorified by many for your miracles after your dormition.

Rejoice, river of miraculous healing powers;

Rejoice, for God has glorified your tomb with wondrous healings.

Rejoice, high-born Leo, weakened being, strengthened by the peace of your tomb;

Rejoice, for your greater care for your host, so that you will not be lacking for her, inspiring him.

Rejoice, by the anointing of peace from your honorable tomb, George the slave was freed from watery labor;

Rejoice, abounding in so many miracles, for we do not have time to tell about them.

Rejoice, Sampson, merciful father and wonderful physician.

They reverence your hospice deeds and marvel at the miracles you have created, reverently people have created a house and a medical clinic nearby, and your hospitable monastery, where you labored, begged the patriarch to consecrate the temple, so that in it your miracles and mercy will be glorified and in church songs they will sing to God: Alleluia.

With all your thoughts you settled with the Lord and enjoyed the vision of His imperishable glory; you did not, Father, neglect the hardships and insults that you received from the careless stewards of the wanderings and pain in your monastery, and with your quick intercession you protected them. In the same way, we pray to you, reverend, from human malice and from the resentment of those who create, protect us who are weak with your intercession, and let us cry out to you in love:

Rejoice, the heavenly cover will dwell under your roof;

Rejoice, quick intercessor to the offended.

Rejoice, incorruptible punisher of those who offend;

Rejoice, Enesia the builder, who is careless and lazy, who has understanding.

Rejoice, you who have struck him with illness and weakness, so that you may lead him to salvation;

Rejoice, having corrected this good by your forgiveness.

Rejoice, as Eustratia the builder, you taught him not to care for your sick and strange, even as he should do;

Rejoice, for through your angry appearance and healing of his illness you moved him to this good service.

Rejoice, Sampson, merciful father and wonderful physician.

Every rank of human nature: kings and slaves, poor and rich, low-born and high-born, I revered you, O Reverend One, in the city and kingdom of Equal-to-the-Apostles King Constantine, from where the holy Orthodox faith arose in our fatherland, with which your glory and memory were not purchased, and worshiped to you, father, in our country who honor your new sons and daughters from the poor and even to kings, by faith crying out to God: Alleluia.

The oracles of multi-proclamation will not be able to adequately praise the strength that you were in our fatherland, the struggles and intercessions that you showed to our army and people in the days in which I create your honorable memory. In the same way, we pray to you, Reverend: always be our intercessor and champion against adversaries, keeping our holy Church in peace and serenity and overshadowing the faithful who call with your prayers:

Rejoice, O beloved land of Russia, which came to Christ;

Rejoice, former champion of that kind, victorious in these circumstances.

Rejoice, having strengthened the strength of our warriors many times to resist;

Rejoice, having granted victory to those who are faithful.

Rejoice, you who created a strong muscle against the adversaries of the Christ-loving Prince Vsevolod;

Rejoice, disobedient and perjured, even those of the same faith, who brought his enemies to reason with defeat.

Rejoice, people with the noble prince, who prayed to you and the Virgin Mary, heard;

Rejoice, on the day of your remembrance, you brought joy to your enemies through victory and the suppression of internecine warfare.

Rejoice, Sampson, merciful father and wonderful physician.

To save those who flow to you by faith and ask for your help from despair and destruction, thou didst incline them to the mercy of the All-Blessed Master; In the same way, our fathers taught us from ancient times to praise you and honor you as an intercessor in troubles and the patron of our country, so that we may sing praises to God who has given you, as a man of prayer and quick to obey: Alleluia.

You were a strong wall to our kingdom, when the enemy in numbers took up arms against us, so that they would crush our strength and subdue their heavy yoke. But you, our father and intercessor Sampson, through your intercession before the only Lord strong in battle, you strengthened our blessed Tsar Peter and gave you victory against your great enemies in Poltava. For this reason, we cry out to you with gratitude and tenderness:

Rejoice, you who have protected our country from conquest and slavery;

Rejoice, having crushed the power of our enemies through your intercession for us.

Rejoice, you who created our victorious king is glorious;

Rejoice, you who preserved this unharmed in battle.

Rejoice, you who have established the glory of our Orthodox country;

Rejoice, you have overthrown the daring pride of the foreign warrior who rose up against us.

Rejoice, thou who raised up the horn of our tribe victoriously among the nations;

Rejoice, champion for us, praise and glory are ours.

Rejoice, Sampson, merciful father and wonderful physician.

Bringing all-contrite singing, O Reverend, as a quick intercessor, a strong defender, a shameless representative, a merciful benefactor, we learn from your arduous life, supernatural miracles, daring intercessions, to sing to the wondrous God in His saints: Alleluia.

The luminous luminary ascended in the east in ancient times, you shone like the gracious sun of the Russian land, driving away the darkness of despondency and sorrow, enlightening with hope the hearts of your help in the situation of those asking and warming with the warmth of your goodness the cooling souls shaken by the wind of unbelief. For this sake, the sons of Russia cry out to you:

Rejoice, for the Russian cathedrals glorify you;

Rejoice, for the Poltava land extols you.

Rejoice, our capital city strengthened by the victory of Peter;

Rejoice, by the will of the king who honors you, a temple has been erected for you in it.

Rejoice, for in your temple faithful people reverently worship your face;

Rejoice, for tears of tenderness, sorrow and illness are not shed in vain before your icon.

Rejoice, for through you the homeless and orphans still find refuge;

Rejoice, for our people, rich and poor, call you their father with love.

Rejoice, Sampson, merciful father and wonderful physician.

Ask for grace and great mercy from heaven for us, Reverend Father Sampson, and pray to the Lord, may He keep the Russian power intact and strong, His holy Church from unbelief and apostasy and heresies invincible, and may He deliver us, who come running to you with faith, from misfortunes and illnesses, for let us sing to the God who benefits us through you: Alleluia.

Your singing in the Orthodox Church, in our fatherland and this city of glorification, we please you, our Reverend Father Sampson, calling: do not leave us with your intercession and help, who are of little faith, weak, cowardly and sorrowful, and strengthen us on the much difficult path in The Kingdom of Heaven, where you are blessed to dwell with the saints, let us cry out to you in love from the soul:

Rejoice, friend of Christ, for Christ created the commandment;

Rejoice, O neighbor, just as Christ was His faithful one, loving Him more than Himself.

Rejoice, blessed physician of gratuitous healings for the sick;

Rejoice, you who have immense love and consolation in sorrow.

Rejoice, hidden joy of giving alms to those who give secretly;

Rejoice, hay-leaved tree in the heat of the work of beings.

Rejoice, listener of secret sighs, do your good deeds invisibly on earth;

Rejoice, for we know your good deeds and glorify our Father who is in heaven.

Rejoice, Sampson, merciful father and wonderful physician.

O Reverend Our Father Sampson, wonderful miracle worker and healer, gracious comforter, merciful stranger and quick intercessor! Accept this little praise offered to you and, always standing before the Throne of the Life-Giving Trinity, pray for all of us who honor your memory, as if God’s ineffable mercy, saving the faithful from troubles in earthly life and from bitter destruction in eternal life, will pour out on us, singing with hope and faith in God: Alleluia.

Orthodox prayer to St. Sampson the Stranger

Oh, our representative before the Lord and warm prayer book, Reverend Father Sampson! See from heaven how we are perishing in circumstances and sorrows: for in our midst unbelief is added to apostasy and division, love becomes scarce, lawlessness and temptations, illnesses and sorrows of many homeless, hungry and orphans multiply. Where, Father, will we receive strength, so that we can resist the temptations of the world, preserve in our hearts the love and faith of Christ and the hope of the Orthodox, and take care of the sick and poor, if you don’t intercede for us with your warm intercession, asking us for help from God in our weaknesses? With your prayers preserve the blessings of our Christ-loving people, the fortress of the Russian country, the peace and tranquility of the Holy Church, protect us all and keep us steadfast among the infidels, the blasphemers who slander our faith, protect us from temptations, arouse the hearts of those who have to show mercy to the poor, warm the cold, feed the hungry and to the charity of the homeless, quench the increase of sorrows and illnesses, famine and other troubles that plague us, grant weakness to suffering babies, send down from the Lord strengthening, consolation and joy to wives in the throes of childbirth, and to everyone in hard work, in hospitals, imprisonments and prisons to those who are discouraged, let us all glorify God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit in the Trinity. Amen.

Biography

Origin, family, education

Eduard Sivers was born on June 27 in St. Petersburg in the family of a collegiate assessor, official Jasper Aleksandrovich (Jasper-Johann-Daniil) Sivers. Mother, Anna Vasilievna (Mabelia Gar, born in) is an Englishwoman. The family had nothing to do with the family, which did not stop him from subsequently declaring this and calling himself “count.”

He graduated from a school at the German Reformed Church, then from 1916 he studied in and at (1925). In 1917 he took the name Sergius (in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh).

Military service

Served in the 1st Admiralty Reserve Regiment. On November 13, 1918, he entered the 43rd Vindava Rifle Regiment of the Northern Fleet's Obzheldor troops and served as a clerk for a machine gun team in the Petrogradsky sector. Probably, while in the service, he visited in 1918. On September 30, 1919, in a battle, he was wounded by an explosive bullet in the right shoulder and contused in the head. He spent a year and a half in the hospital: first in the Petrograd Semenovsky Military Hospital No. 2, and then in. As a result of the injury, the activity of the right hand was reduced by 85% and also developed. While still in the hospital, I applied to join, recommendations were given by the military commissar of the hospital and the hospital caretaker. After discharge, he was accepted into service at the Tikhvin district military commissariat, as an assistant to the military commissar. From May to September 1920 he was a candidate for the CPSU (b). In 1921 - early 1922, he headed the Tikhvin Garrison Club. At the beginning of 1922, he was demobilized and got a job in the archives, and was a member of the historical study commission. In January 1923, he left his service at the academy, deciding to become a monk.

Service in the Church

At the time of applying to join the party, Eduard-Sergius doubted his religious beliefs. After confirming his faith, he decided not to continue the process of joining the CPSU (b). Being the head of the club, he began to openly visit the temple. It is likely that Sivers met the Bishop of Tikhvin here. Perhaps he had it. After moving to Petrograd, while working in the archives, he got a job as a church watchman in, where he was provided with a cell.

March 25, 1922 was in with the name Simeon. After the transfer of the Lavra Council in September 1922, being disagreed with the appointment of the married Renovationist “Archbishop” Nikolai (Sobolev), according to Father Simeon himself, he sabotaged his meeting in the monastery. Thus, the monk came into open conflict with the Lavra. At the same time, he remained in it, and on November 20 he asked for the staff with a request to keep his cell. Prayed at . However, already on December 13 he returned to the brethren of the Lavra “with full repentance for insulting the spiritual council of the Lavra.” On February 6, 1923, “for his diligent service,” the Lavra petitioned the administrator of the Petrograd Renovationist Diocese for the ordination of monk Simeon, which took place on February 15, 1923. In November, he and his brethren returned to the patriarchal church.

On February 18, 1932, Hierodeacon Simeon was arrested in Lavra, convicted under the article and sentenced to 3 years in prison in Svirlag

After his release, he was ordained.

was arrested by the city department of the Voronezh region. He was charged under Articles 58-10 Part II and 58-11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR. At the first interrogation, he did not admit that, “receiving believers for confession in his apartment,” he conducted conversations of an anti-Soviet nature. “admitted himself guilty, named the names of the believers and recounted what they allegedly said against the Soviet regime.” announced his removal from the rank and asked to limit the punishment only to deportation. By this time, to his old ailments, he had added “a heart defect and tuberculosis in both apexes of the lungs.” accused the investigation of the pressure under which he had to incriminate himself and others.

S served in the village, then in the village. Soon he moved to the Penza diocese, serving first in the city, then in Makarovka, the village of Spassky, and in the Poltava convent. B - was the second priest in. From to - monk. Out of state, lived in Moscow. He was tonsured into the great schema with the name Sampson in honor of the Venerable Sampson the Receiver.

Died after a serious illness. The funeral service took place in. He was buried in Moscow.

From the life of the saint

Sampson was born in 1898. His worldly name was Edward. He received his first religious experience from his English mother. His grandfather was a famous icon painter. His icons can be seen in St. Petersburg. One of them accompanied the hieromonk throughout his life. Since childhood, Sivers showed a craving for the church, for the Lord. It manifested itself as follows:

  • visited churches of different faiths;
  • read spiritual literature in different languages;
  • was constantly present at liturgies;
  • I prayed a lot.

I repeated the prayer “For every time and every hour” 100-200 times a day. When he was wondering which faith was more truthful, during a prayer service an insight came to him. He converted to Orthodoxy in secret from his family, so as not to upset his mother.

After Confirmation was performed on Sivers and he received communion, he received the name Sergius. He became a novice at the Savvo-Krypetsky Monastery when he met the monks of this monastery. The monk gave very deep sermons that did not leave anyone indifferent.

But the civil war began. In 1919, armed Bolsheviks came to the elder’s cell and captured him. He was kept in prison for about 22 days and, together with the bandits, was taken out to be shot. Going to his death, the monk had no fear, because he trusted only in the will of the Lord. He was not killed; he was only wounded in the arm.

In 1922, Sergius took monastic vows with the name Simeon. That same year he was appointed hierodeacon. And soon Sivers became a hieromonk. Father was also the treasurer, so he had all the keys to the storerooms.

Reverend Sampson the Host

The chambers of the Byzantine Emperor Justinian were stuffy, twilight reigned, and smelled of overseas medicines. The patient’s heavy, intermittent breathing could be heard: a fatal illness had confined the ruler to his bed. All his numerous doctors threw up their hands: they could do nothing to help the emperor. There was only one hope left: the dying Justinian began to earnestly, with tears, pray to God, asking Him for help and salvation. One day, dozing off from exhaustion, the ruler saw in a dream a humble man dressed as a priest, about whom Justinian was told that only he could heal the emperor. As soon as the monarch woke up, he immediately sent his servants to look for the wonderful doctor; They walked all over Constantinople, but could not find him. Then one of the royal servants remembered his friend the doctor, priest Sampson. Justinian ordered that they quickly find him and bring him to the palace. The emperor immediately recognized the healer promised in a dream in Sampson and joyfully hugged him. With one touch of his hand, Sampson healed the sick king. Grateful Justinian was ready to give the one who cured him everything that Sampson asked for, offering him a lot of gold and silver. But the modest doctor refused the generous gifts. The only thing he asked Justinian to do was to build a hospice house and a hospital for the residents of Constantinople. The emperor gladly fulfilled the healer's request: he built a large magnificent building, which became known as Sampson's Hospice House.

Reverend Sampson the Host was born in Rome into the family of a wealthy patrician. Since childhood, the boy dreamed of how he would help the sick and suffering, and for this he strove to get a good medical education. And his cherished wish came true: Sampson became one of the most qualified doctors of his time, and many patients came to him with their ailments and injuries. He treated everyone free of charge, and the young doctor settled those who needed long-term care in his vast estate, providing them not only with shelter, food and treatment, but also with consolation in prayer and the most tender care.

When his parents died, Sampson set all his slaves free, wanting to serve other people. He also distributed his inheritance to the poor and needy, fulfilling in practice the advice given by the Savior to the rich young man: “if you want to be perfect, go, sell your property and give it to the poor; and you will have treasure in Heaven.”

Soon Sampson moved to the capital of Byzantium - Constantinople. Here he settled in a poor hut and led a very simple and modest life. Many patients visited the famous doctor, especially those who were abandoned by other doctors: lepers, the blind, the paralyzed, the possessed. The fame of Sampson spread throughout Constantinople. The desperate, who had previously spent all their funds on useless medicines, received healing from his healing art and prayers. Hearing about Sampson’s godly life, the Patriarch of Constantinople called him to himself and ordained him as a priest.

After the healing of the emperor, Sampson took over the leadership of the Hospice House of Constantinople, built at his request by Justinian. It had a well-equipped hospital, with an outpatient clinic and a hospital, consisting of various departments: surgical, infectious diseases, maternity and others. Professional doctors worked in the hospital, and experienced monks cared for the patients. In addition to the sick, all beggars and vagabonds were received here, giving them shelter and food. Emperor Justinian donated several estates to the Hospice House to pay for its maintenance.

Until a very old age, the Reverend Sampson the Host selflessly and diligently served his neighbors. And to this day, miraculous healings are performed through his prayers.

History of the All-Merciful Prayer

One day Seraphim of Sarov appeared to Simeon in a dream. He bent over the elder and read the prayer “My All-Merciful Lady” with tears in his eyes that flowed down the monk’s forehead.

We recommend studying Psalm 35

When he woke up, he immediately wrote down the sacred text. Three hours later, Sievers was arrested. Prayer accompanied him throughout the 18 years he spent in the camps. “The All-Merciful” helped him pass difficult trials.

  1. “Tram” - terrible torture of the Bolsheviks, when many people were placed in a cell so that they could not even move. The premises were closed for three weeks. Many in this situation died and continued to stand with the living. But Simeon managed to survive. He never gave up the keys to the storerooms.
  2. Solovki - the torture here was very cruel. Hungry rats were allowed into the prisoners' basements and ate people alive. But the rodents did not bite the old man. They only ran over his legs.

How to get to the cemetery

The necropolis can be reached by metro, public transport or car. Cemetery address: Nosovikhinskoe highway, 16.

If you use personal transport, travel time will depend on the starting point and traffic jams.

If you get there from the Moscow Ring Road. First you need to get to Nosovikhinskoye Highway. Then head on Ilyich Highway until the intersection with Rudneva Street. There turn right, and then left. Once on Oktyabrskaya Street, move straight to the entrance to the cemetery.

If you get from the center, it will take a longer period of time. You need to go to the embankment of the Yauza River. The next point is Nikoloyamskaya Street. Afterwards you need to cross Andronevskaya Square and Radonezhsky Street. Once on Entuziastov Boulevard, the driver moves to the interchange at the Moscow Ring Road. And then along the already planned route.

If you get there by metro, the most convenient way to do this is from Novokosino station. There you can walk to the churchyard, the path is about 2 km. Or you can use public transport: bus route E-5 (it operates when a mass visit to the necropolis is expected), transit routes 706 or 760 to the “2nd Moscow Crematorium” stop, which is the final stop.

From other stations: "Vykhino" - bus 706 or minibus 39M, "Shchelkovskaya" - bus 760 or minibus 102M.
