During his lifetime, the Trimifuntsky Wonderworker Saint Spyridon was a model of righteousness, kindness, meekness and philanthropy. He worked miracles for the benefit of everyone who asked, donated to those in need, and lived in modesty, not striving for wealth or fame. The saint is credited with miraculous healings, both physical and mental. People turn to him for stability, and what it consists of, we will tell you in more detail in this article.
What can you ask Spyridon of Trimifuntsky for?
During his lifetime, Spyridon of Trimythous was elected Bishop of Trimitusa, but did not become arrogant, but continued his righteous life, like everyone else, earning his living and food. For his kind disposition, helping loved ones and the miracles he created, he was nicknamed the Wonderworker. After the death of Spyridon, they elevated him to the rank of saint and now they are asking for help in various matters:
- for material well-being;
- for support in business and trade;
- for healing;
- for help with work;
- to solve housing problems.
Prayers to Saint Spyridon are offered at the icon with his face in church or at home with faith in God's power and grace.

The life of a saint given to God and others
His whole life was spent in Cyprus. Outwardly, he did not stand out in any way among other residents of the small town of Trimifunt: he lived like everyone else, tending sheep, which was how he earned his family’s daily bread. However, one must assume that from his youth Spiridon was special, distinguished by his kindness and compassion towards people.
They increased even more after the death of his wife, when the future saint devoted himself entirely to works of mercy. When, under Emperor Constantine the Great (1st half of the 4th century), who stopped the persecution of Christians, an episcopal see was formed in Trimifunt, the residents unanimously asked Spiridon to become their shepherd.
A new life began for him, already completely given to the Lord and helping his neighbors. Due to the purity of the saint’s faith, Christ honored him with many grace-filled gifts. Lives of St. Spiridon is essentially a story about his continuous miracles for the sake of his neighbors even during his earthly life.
Cases of assistance in healing mental and physical illnesses
Among them there are also many cases of healing of diseases:
- once - this was after the death of Constantine the Great - the saint had to travel to the sick emperor Constantius; he, no longer trusting the doctors, whose help turned out to be useless, resorted to God; he saw in a dream an unfamiliar bishop, whom he was pointed to as a healer; the saint who came actually gave health to the sick man with his prayer;
- Not only miracles of healing ailments are also known, but even the resurrection of the dead; one day a mother brought a dead child to the saint; for the sake of the bishop’s holy prayers, he was resurrected by the Lord; Saint Bogi also begged for his mother - seeing her son alive, she herself fell dead, but was also resurrected.
However, when helping people, the saint always did the will of God and bowed before it. When his daughter Irina died prematurely, the father did not complain, but accepted this fate. However, when her acquaintance came to the bishop, crying about the treasure entrusted to the girl, which was now hidden unknown where, the saint went to the tomb and, without a moment’s doubt, asked his daughter about the location of the gold and silver. To the horror and great shock of those present, he received an answer that everyone could hear. And then he commanded the servant of God to rest until the general resurrection.
The saint himself reposed in his cathedral city. Now his miraculous relics reside on Fr. Corfu, where many healings are served.

However, in order to receive the help of an ambulance, it is often enough to contact him from anywhere, at any time, because the love of saints knows no boundaries. One of the saint’s churches, leading a kind of chronicle of his miracles, is located in Oranienbaum near St. Petersburg. The saint has long been considered the patron of the Volyn Life Guards Regiment, for which this church was built, which celebrated its 175th anniversary in 2013. The temple, closed under Soviet rule, has been restored since 2008, but many admirers of St. Spyridon is already witnessing the miracles of his help that occur through prayers here.

Symbol of faith
“I believe in one God, the Father, Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, visible to all and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the only begotten, who was born of the Father before all ages; Light from Light, true God from true God, born, uncreated, consubstantial with the Father, to Whom all things were. For our sake, man and our salvation came down from heaven and became incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became human. She was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried. And he rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures. And ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father. And again the coming one will be judged with glory by the living and the dead, His Kingdom will have no end. And in the Holy Spirit, the Life-Giving Lord, who proceeds from the Father, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who spoke the prophets. Into one Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the remission of sins. I hope for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the next century. Amen".

Spiridon Trimifuntsky
The measure of work is chosen according to one’s strengths and capabilities. Over the long period of veneration of the Bishop of Trimifunts, many prayers and chants were composed for him.
The shortest of them - the troparion and kontakion - are learned by heart and repeated, mentally turning to the saint.
Troparion and kontakion to Saint Spyridon of Trimythous
Troparion, tone 1:
At the First Council, you appeared as a champion and wonderworker, God-bearing Spyridon, Our Father. In the same way, you cried out to the dead in the tomb, and you turned the serpent into gold, and you always sang holy prayers to you, and you had angels co-serving with you, most sacred one. Glory to Him who gave you strength, glory to Him who crowned you, glory to Him who heals you all.
Kontakion, voice 2:
Having been wounded by the love of Christ, most sacred, your mind was fixed on the dawn of the Spirit, through your active vision you found the deed, O God-pleasing altar, having become, asking for the Divine radiance to all.
Some Christians set themselves a difficult prayer rule - reading the Akathist to the Saint for 40 days. In this case, you need to be confident in your abilities or choose an easier rule - reading the Canon.
It is best to seek advice and blessing from a priest. He will assign the necessary rule, and God’s blessing will give strength to implement it.

Five signs that you have had coronavirus infection
3. A relatively important sign is that you have a positive smear for COVID-19, which was taken in the first days of an acute respiratory illness. In fact, this sign is considered relatively important because the accuracy of smears is low, and they give either false positives (indicating an infection when there is none) or false negatives (indicating that there is no infection when in fact there is one). there are) results. Therefore, until recently, patients were given several smears in a row, and if the result was consistently positive, it was concluded that there really was a coronavirus infection. Currently, patients are recommended to test for class M and G antibodies on days 10-12 of illness.
4. Doubtful sign - you have had pneumonia, confirmed by x-ray or CT, but you had negative smears. Until recently, it was believed that coronavirus only causes bilateral pneumonia, but it turned out that it can also cause unilateral pneumonia. Some patients believe that they have had coronavirus only based on X-ray or CT scan data - however, the same antibody test is still required to make a diagnosis. If at least 12 days have passed since the onset of your illness, take an antibody test and you will find out for sure whether your pneumonia was coronavirus, but do not be surprised if the antibodies are negative - there are a lot of pathogens that cause pneumonia, and these are not always viruses.

Why does God send diseases
An unbeliever experiences illness with difficulty. Realizing the futility of the medications taken, weak faith turns into murmuring, despair and rejection of God.
God sends diseases for various reasons:
- as punishment for sins;
- to cleanse the soul;
- for protection from crimes;
- for the manifestation of His healing Grace for the edification of people.
A spiritually inattentive patient will say: doctors are treating me, not God. But there is no doctor who would not recognize the will of chance, the will of God, in the treatment process.
Christians know: such “cases” are sent due to the sinfulness of the patient or through the prayer of saints.

Instructions for parents of a sick child
- When a child is sick, parents suffer greatly and worry about it. However, don't despair. You need to pull yourself together and fulfill your duty to the maximum.
- In the morning, be sure to give your child holy water - this will give him strength to fight the disease.
- Pray next to your baby so that he sees your love and care.
- Order prosphora from the church and give it to your child with holy water in the morning on an empty stomach.
- Attend all liturgies with your child, give him communion as often as possible and raise him in the Orthodox faith.
