Prayer

Prayer 1 O, saint of God, holy and faithful Prince Daniel, the fragrant flower of the garden of Christ, the gentle star of the church sky, the heavenly mind of our earth, the city of Moscow and the powers our wise creator.
Warm to God, prayerful, quick to help, merciful in need, we fall to you and pray to you: be our representative before the Throne of God’s glory, ever vigilant. Gather us together, so that everyone can share in the sorrow of their neighbor with unhypocritical love. Our minds are heavenly, yes, having rejected the heavy yoke of earthly cares, let us love the light burden of Christ’s Gospel. Open our eyes, so that we may see the imperishable beauty of the Lord and may we not be alienated from the life of God. May the quietness of the Spirit of God guard our hearts. May the spring of repentance brighten our affairs.

Merciful and generous prince, save our country, your city and those who pray to you from all misfortune, from enemies visible and invisible, from destruction and famine, from internecine strife and sudden death. Open to us the doors of God’s mercy and deliver us from all evil.

Taking refuge under the strong cover of your grace, we pray: give us a quiet refuge in our afflictions. Cover us with your prayers. Keep us from the falls of sin and error, and with a contrite heart, a humble spirit in sorrow and joy: Lord, through the intercession of Thy Holy One, have mercy on us. Amen.

Prayer 2: High praise to the Church of Christ, unassailable wall of the city of Moscow, divine affirmation to the Russian powers, like Prince Daniel. Flowing to the race of your relics, we fervently pray to you: look upon us, who sing thy memory and come running with faith under the shelter of your prayers.

Pour out your warm intercession to the Savior of all, for may he establish peace in our country, cities and villages, and may this monastery preserve goodness, piety and love in your people, planting, among the malice, eradicating civil society and moral corruption; Grant to us all all that is good for temporary life and eternal salvation through your prayers, so that we glorify the wondrous Christ God in His saints forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 3 O, Reverend Daniel, flowing to your icon, earnestly praying: look upon us (names), with faith under the shelter of your prayers.

Your warm intercession to the Savior of all, for may this parish be established in peace and may this temple preserve goodness, piety and love in the Orthodox people, planting malice, civil strife and moral corruption speedy; to all of us, all good things for temporary life and eternal salvation, grant us your prayers, so that we glorify the wonderful Christ God in His saints, together with the Father and the Holy Spirit forever and ever c. Amen.

Troparion, tone 4

Putting aside the glory of your reign, illuminated by Divine grace, God-wise Prince Daniel, you unswervingly placed all the mind in your heart from this vanity world to the Creator and, like a star on the east of the Russian state, you shone, and through chastity and your life equal to the angels, fulfilling the course of goodness, you kept the faith immaculate, therefore even after death God glorified you in miracles, as if He had flowed with healing faithfully to those who were more honest in your race; For this reason, today we celebrate your dormition, your people. You, as you have boldness towards Christ, pray to save your fatherland and make our country more peaceful.

What Saint Daniel of Moscow did for Rus'

  • In 1282 The prince founded the St. Daniel Monastery, building a wooden church in memory of St. Daniel, five miles from Moscow. Daniel the Stylite, his heavenly patron. He granted the monastery lands, forests and fishing. And around there were peasant estates. Having founded the first monastery in the city, he thereby gave Moscow significance and made it one of the places of pilgrimage for Russian people.
  • In 1287 , after the brutal devastation of Moscow by the Tatars, which lasted two years, he began the restoration of the Moscow principality, which was very successful. In the same year, the prince-peacemaker stopped the internecine conflict between his older brothers - princes Dimitri and Andrei Alexandrovich, who were at war with each other for the grand-ducal throne.
  • In 1288, Daniil prevented another military conflict between Grand Duke Dimitri Alexandrovich and Prince Mikhail of Tver.
  • In 1293, Moscow was once again sacked by the Tatar prince Tudan (the Russians called him Dudeney). Daniel had to rebuild the city again, and at the expense of his personal treasury. He distributed financial aid to the affected Muscovites, and set up free canteens and inns for them for shelter and overnight accommodation. The city was restored with God's help within a year.
  • In those days , the Bolshaya Ordynskaya Road was laid and equipped, in memory of which today one of the central streets of Moscow is named - Bolshaya Ordynka. Thanks to this route, the city became a major trading center through which goods were transported from the northern lands to the Horde.
  • In 1296, the ascetic founded another monastery - Epiphany. This is the second oldest Moscow monastery. The first abbot of the monastery was the Venerable Stefan, the brother of St. Sergius of Radonezh. And Saint Alexy of Moscow, the famous miracle worker and teacher of Demetrius Donskoy, took monastic vows within the walls of this monastery.

By order of Prince Daniel, the Archangel Church and the Cathedral of the Savior on Bor were erected in the Kremlin.

During his reign, the prince managed to expand the borders of the Moscow principality by almost two and a half times. Famous boyar families began to move here from other principalities.

Under Prince Daniel, the family of the noble Chernigov boyar Theodore Byakont, the father of St. Alexy of Moscow, later glorified by many miracles, whose help even the Horde khan Janibek once asked for, moved to Moscow.

Grand Duke Daniel for the first time gave the once small town the status of a significant Russian city and began to unite Russian lands around it, thereby laying the foundations of the future Russian state with its capital in Moscow.

short biography

Daniel was born in 1261. He was the youngest, fourth son of St. Alexander Nevsky. When the boy was only two years old, his father, returning from the Horde, suddenly died on the road, and Alexander Nevsky’s confessor, Metropolitan Kirill, took care of the child. The Bishop was engaged in the spiritual care of Daniel until he matured.

Historians believe that Daniel spent his childhood in Vladimir. He received the best education for those times and often made pilgrimage trips to ancient Russian monasteries with his mother.

Miniature from the Tsar's titular book of 1672 Prince of Moscow Daniil Alexandrovich (reign: 1276-1303)

Years of reign

In 1272, at the age of 11, the youth Daniel became a prince. Especially for him, Moscow and its surroundings were allocated as a separate principality. The city at that time was a small wooden fortress surrounded by a village of artisans. While the prince was very young, governors, the so-called tiuns, ruled for him. The first information that the young prince began to take an active part in the political life of North-Eastern Rus' dates back to the early 80s of the 13th century.

In 1296, Daniel’s elder brother, the formerly irreconcilable Prince Andrei Alexandrovich, voluntarily transferred to him the title of Grand Duke.

In 1300, the Kolomna lands were annexed to Moscow, which allowed the principality to gain waterways along the Oka River.

in 1302 Pereyaslavl prince John Dimitrievich, dying without heirs, bequeathed to Daniel his appanage principality, which at that time was one of the richest and most significant in Rus'.

The prince ruled these lands until his death on March 4 (March 17), 1303.

Personal and public life

Most historians believe that the wife of the Moscow prince was the granddaughter of the Hungarian king Bela IV - Agrippina, whom some researchers also call Evdokia, and who is mentioned in the Rostov Cathedral Synodik. But there is also a version that his wife was one of the princesses of the Chernigov grand-ducal family, and that as a result of this marriage, Zvenigorod was annexed to Moscow.

Interesting fact

Historical documents indicate that the princely couple had 10 children: nine sons and one daughter.

The prince considered ensuring peace and a quiet life as the main priority for the development of society. And he considered its inhabitants to be the main wealth ensuring the economic development of the principality, and therefore supported them as best he could.

Compiled in the 16th century. The “State Book of the Royal Genealogy” calls the Moscow prince “saint” and “righteous sovereign.” The Moscow ruler is glorified in it as a peacemaker, who, even during civil strife, “quelled battles and made peace without bloodshed ,” and thanks to this, “his power was not harmed by anyone.”

tonsure and death

In 1303, feeling his death approaching, the prince accepted the schema at the St. Daniel Monastery he founded. He bequeathed to bury him in an ordinary monastery graveyard, among ordinary monks. The Laurentian and Trinity Chronicles say that the prince died “in Moscow in his homeland in Cherntsekh and in Skime.”

Holy Blessed Prince Daniel of Moscow. Icon of the turn of the 17th-18th centuries

Doctor of Historical Sciences Sergei Perevezentsev comments on this event in the following words:

“His father passed away after taking monastic vows. And Daniil Alexandrovich, according to chronicle sources, also took monastic vows. This is one of the traditions of Russian princes, especially characteristic of the period of Horde rule. In those days, princes did not serve the fulfillment of their ambitious plans, not only their homeland, but, first of all, God. They tried to preserve the Russian land as a part of the holy land in which the Lord is present, and, accordingly, they dedicated all their deeds and themselves to the Lord.”

Sedalen, voice 4th

From the root of goodness you grew a beautiful branch and, like a fragrant plant, you were adorned with virtues, looking with mercy on the poor and wretched and on all the people under your control, blessed and ever-memorable Prince Daniel, bowing the evil-believing and hostile into love and humility, in vigil and you have lived a life pleasing to God and received a worthy reward from your Lord. Therefore pray to him to grant peace and great mercy to our souls. Glory, and now:
You were the Divine Tabernacle, the One Most Pure Virgin Mother, who surpassed the Angels in purity and was conceived in the womb of Her Pre-Original Word, Co-eternal with the Father, and Who gave birth to this Savior for the whole world, I, more than anyone else, was defiled by carnal sins, cleanse Your prayers with the Divine waters , giving my soul peace and great mercy.

Praise and Honor

The saint of God began to be venerated during the reign of Prince John III.

According to Tradition, recorded by the compiler of the “Book of the Powerful Royal Genealogy”, St. Daniel appeared to one noble young man from the prince's retinue when John Vasilyevich and his guides were passing by the village. Danilovsky, where a monastery was once built by the saint of God.

The saint ordered the young man to inform the prince that, although he had forgotten him in his prayers and did not remember his services to the Russian people, he was not forgotten by God. The young man fulfilled the saint’s instructions, and soon the God-loving Prince John III ordered that cathedral memorial services be served for his deceased relative and generous alms be distributed in his honor.

During the reign of Prince Vasily Ioannovich, a wonderful event occurred with the boyar Ivan Shuisky, who, despite the warning of a local resident, stepped on a stone lying on the saint’s grave in order to mount his horse. After this, the boyar fell seriously ill. He was able to get out of bed only after the priest served a prayer service to Saint Daniel.

During the reign of Ivan the Terrible, there was also a case of miraculous healing of the son of a Kolomna merchant after he was laid on a stone lying over the burial place of the Moscow prince Daniel. John IV greatly revered his ancestor and came to his tomb every year to pray. In connection with this, Metropolitan Macarius of Moscow and All Russia established days on which services and memorial services were performed for the holy prince.

At the same time, by royal decree, a new stone church was built here and the monastic life of the monastery was restored.

In 1652, the incorruptible relics of Prince Daniel were found. At the direction of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich, they were transferred to the Church of the Holy Fathers of the Seven Ecumenical Councils of St. Daniel's Monastery, where they remained until the abolition of the monastery during the period of atheism.

Where are the relics located?

The reliquary with particles of the relics of St. Daniel of Moscow resides in the Church of the Holy Fathers of the Seven Ecumenical Councils of the St. Daniel Monastery and is considered its main shrine

The relics of the holy prince were lost after the closure of the St. Danilov Monastery in the 30s of the last century.

Interesting fact

It was possible to save only their particles. For two years the relics were kept in the Church of the Resurrection of the Word, which is next to the Danilov Monastery. In 1932 the church was also closed and they disappeared. There is a version that the clergy divided the shrine among themselves in order to save it from desecration by the Bolsheviks.

Priest Alexander (Blokhin), assistant rector of the St. Danilov Monastery, says the following about this:

“Particles of the relics, considered to belong to Bishop Theodore (Pozdeevsky), the last abbot of the monastery, were taken to America, and there they were kept in the Orthodox Church. Only in 1984, when the monastery was returned to the Church, the American Metropolitan Theodosius brought the relics and returned them back to the Danilov Monastery. There were also particles of relics transferred to Academician D.S. Likhachev by one bishop, with whom he “sat” together on Solovki. Dmitry Sergeevich kept them in a school pencil case on a bookshelf, and when the monastery was reopened, he handed them back to the monastery.”

Temple in honor of the blessed prince

The Temple of the Blessed Prince Daniel of Moscow is the first of the Moscow monasteries that has survived to our time. He is known and revered throughout the Orthodox world. The exact date of its foundation is unknown, but historical literature indicates the end of the 13th century.

It is also undeniable that the deeds of the Grand Duke live and will live in the minds of people for a huge number of years, for they are truth and honor. His monastery is visited daily by hundreds of parishioners and thousands of pilgrims from all over the world, and God’s grace emanating from his face teaches piety and gives true faith to everyone who thirsts, which leads through life honestly and righteously.

God bless you!

Testimonies of the saint's help

People come to the shrine with relics and turn to this saint for help in a variety of situations. Evidence of his help is recorded in the Danilov Monastery. Here are some of them

Archimandrite Alexy (Polikarpov), abbot of the monastery, says:

“He is our intercessor in all our sorrows and needs. We turn to him as to a close person to whom our earthly needs are close. He is highly revered in Moscow, because it is believed that saints intercede for their earthly homeland, but he is also a miracle worker of All Russia.”

Archimandrite Alexy (Polikarpov), abbot of the St. Danilov Monastery, testifies:

“Every weekday at 6 o’clock in the morning a fraternal prayer service addressed to Prince Daniel is held at the monastery. We speak all our requests and petitions to him in simplicity of soul, from the bottom of our hearts. And we see and feel that he responds to this.”

Examples of assistance in selling and purchasing housing

There are especially many stories about the help of the holy saint in matters related to the acquisition or exchange of housing. Evidence of this is recorded in the books of gratitude kept in the St. Daniel monastery.

Danilov Monastery is a stauropegial monastery of the Russian Orthodox Church. Located in Moscow on the right bank of the Moscow River. Founded at the end of the 13th century by Moscow Prince Daniil Alexandrovich. Closed by authorities in October 1930. Transferred to the Moscow Patriarchate in 1983 to create the spiritual and administrative center of the Russian Orthodox Church

Vladimir Malyagin, editor-in-chief of the publication “Danilovsky Blagovestnik”:

“The saint helped our family a lot. He helped us with arranging our home and apartment affairs. It was absolutely obvious that these were miracles, because they followed one after another. When my wife called me and said that we had an amazing opportunity to sell our apartment, I, sitting under the icon of Prince Daniel, looked at him in surprise. I didn’t expect anything supernatural in my life.”

“I bought a small icon and prayed”

R.'s story B. Elena:

I rented an apartment for a long time. I was advised to pray to Holy Prince Daniel of Moscow about purchasing my own home. I bought a small icon of the prince, prayed, went to see him at the Danilov Monastery. And after a year of prayers (although there were also breaks), I bought a room, and after two years, an apartment. When I was packing my things to move from a room to an apartment, an icon of Prince Daniel unexpectedly fell out of the book. I got chills - I realized to whom I owe the apartment .”

“We never even dreamed of owning our own home”

R.'s story B. Photinia:

“My husband and I lived in rented apartments and we never even dreamed that one day we would have our own home, because there was nowhere to get one. I heard from many that Prince Daniil, being the owner of Moscow, helps people who pray to him in solving housing problems, but somehow out of cowardice I didn’t ask, reasoning that we don’t even have any options, the apartment won’t fall from the sky.

A colleague of mine at work had just resolved a very difficult housing issue related to resettlement after the demolition of a house, and it was resolved very successfully, simply by miracle - from the outside it was obvious. It was he who told me: “Pray, Prince Daniel will definitely help!”

I began to go to church more often, venerate the relics of the blessed Prince Daniel, read the akathist and ask for help. Then everything happened very quickly! We accidentally found out that there was a social program for purchasing housing on preferential terms and contacted the district housing department.

There they unexpectedly treated us with great sympathy. Our option for obtaining housing was controversial, and the deadlines were running out. Every time, going to the next authority, I read the akathist to Prince Daniil.

The help was felt very clearly, everything worked out - we managed to do everything, and 4 months later we celebrated a housewarming in a new apartment! Now the day of remembrance of St. Prince Daniel is our family holiday.”

“We should have sold in Vladimir and bought in Voronezh”

R.'s story B. Alevtiny:

“Holy Prince Daniel helped me in a difficult situation. I needed to sell an apartment in Vladimir and buy one in Voronezh. We couldn’t sell the apartment for a year. After a prayer appeal to Prince Daniel, everything was fulfilled within two weeks. I thank the Savior and Holy Prince Daniel.”

“My ex-husband kicked me out of the apartment”

R.'s story B. Alexandra (Seregina):

In 1999, I had a very big problem with housing: we had been on the waiting list for about 10 years, we lived in a communal apartment, and even my husband, now ex-husband, kicked me out of the apartment. I came to the Danilovsky Monastery, after the service I venerated the relics of Saint Prince Daniel and tearfully asked him for help. And, to my great joy, he appeared to me in a dream, and I realized that everything would be fine. The holy saint of God, Daniel, made it clear to me that he would pray and ask God to help me. Soon the church gave me the phone number of an Orthodox lawyer who helped me fill out the papers correctly, and in 2000 I was already living in my own apartment .

After reading forty akathists, they received a subsidy

Story pp. B. Natalia and Igor:

“We are a young family from the Kaluga region. For a long time we rented an apartment in Moscow; there was no possibility of purchasing our own home. They began to go every Sunday to the Danilov Monastery and ask Prince Daniil of Moscow for prayer help, and also began to read an akathist to Prince Daniil for forty days.

And so, day after day, after reading forty akathists at my wife’s work (despite the fact that she worked there for a short time and went on maternity leave), they signed an order to provide a one-time subsidy for the purchase of residential premises, which was enough to purchase a two-room apartment in Moscow.

We continued to go to the Danilov Monastery to thank for the help already provided to us and to ask for more help, because it is quite difficult to buy real estate with a subsidy. And it turned out that the first apartment we looked at suited us, and the sellers were happy with everything. Also, miraculously, the purchase and sale transaction was completed on the day of remembrance of St. Prince Daniel! Thank God for everything! »

“I prayed for help to stay in my native area”

R.'s story B. Photinia:

“This happened in 2009-2010. In Moscow, not far from the Preobrazhenskaya Ploshchad metro station, residents of five-story buildings slated for demolition, built back in the 1920s, have begun to be resettled. People were resettled in remote areas - Butovo, Shcherbinka in Zelenograd. They gave me the same inspection warrant for an apartment in Butovo. I went and looked and was upset: it was very far from the area in which I had lived almost all my life, and from my place of work, and the apartment was uncomfortable. I no longer went so far to look at apartments, but began to intensely pray to the real owner of Moscow, Holy Prince Daniel, to help me stay in my native area. I’m no longer young, and I don’t have the strength for long journeys.

Starting from April, every day I read an akathist to the Venerable Prince Daniel. And already in December I was offered a wonderful apartment very close to my former home, two tram stops, and even with windows directly on the temple - the wonderful wooden Transfiguration Church in Bogorodskoye.

In August I already moved to a new apartment. I thank the Lord and Holy Prince Daniel for such mercy towards me, a sinner!”

“We didn’t have our own corner until our friends brought us to the relics”

R.'s story B. Valentina (Popova):

“Previously, we, the family of a serviceman, lived in Baikonur. In Moscow we had to live in an officer’s hotel; we didn’t have our own place, and we were still constantly passed over regarding the apartment. And there were problems with my health - my right hand didn’t obey well. My friends brought me to the Danilov Monastery to the relics of Prince Daniil of Moscow. I began to constantly pray to the prince, asking for housing. She venerated his holy relics and the miraculous monastery icon of the Mother of God “Three-Handed”. And as a result, we were given a three-room apartment for three family members and the hand became obedient. I love the Danilov Monastery very much, I feel extraordinary grace here.”

Examples of assistance at work

There are many stories about the saint’s help in work. It helps you find it, establish relationships with colleagues and work successfully. It also helps improve working conditions.

Help to ease working conditions

An example of a saint’s help in easing working conditions is the entry of A.V., a parishioner of the St. Daniel’s Monastery. Astrova, based on the story of the exiled nun Anna Vasilievna Kungurskaya, who served as obedient at the Danilov Monastery before its closure:

“How can I not be grateful to Holy Prince Daniel when he helped me so much!” - said Anna Vasilievna and told the following. After the revolution, when the Danilov Monastery where she lived was closed, the nuns were sent to work as “disenfranchised”. She and others were sent to the North to cut wood. It was difficult. The norm is high, but the strength is female... Someone was traveling to Moscow, and she offered to raise money for a candle for the relics of Prince Daniel.

Some of the exiles responded to this call, and they gave as much money as they could. Others refused, citing the fact that they themselves did not have enough. Easter was approaching. Unexpectedly, on the bright holiday of Christ’s Resurrection, the authorities received an order to the camp to release some of the prisoners on the list from work. Only those who gave Prince Daniel a candle were included in it.”

Stalemate? Prayer to Daniil of Moscow will help

And today there are also many cases of the grace-filled help of God’s saint.

The story of Raisa Skibitskaya, librarian of the St. Daniel Monastery:

“The saint gives very specific help. When the situation is hopeless, you need to pray to Daniel. Several years ago I signed up for a subscription to the monastery. It was urgent to bring 50 thousand, but there was no money in the cash register.

The accountant and I had absolutely no idea what to do. And suddenly a young man comes in and says that he wants to donate money to the monastery. And how much do you think? 50 thousand! What is this if not the help of a saint?”

“I was left without work...”

R.'s story B. Nina:

“I have a very difficult life situation: I am left without work, and my children need my help. I came to the shrine of St. Daniel and asked him to help me. And soon I found a job, and my soul became lighter. I go to the Danilov Monastery and pray to the holy prince for the children, I want to bring them to bow to him.”

R.'s story B. Tatiana:

“I am a pensioner, but I wanted to earn extra money in the winter. I arrived at the Danilov Monastery, ordered a prayer service to Prince Daniil, and asked him to help me find a job. And after two weeks, my friend called me and offered to work for her. Everything suited me and I agreed.”

“My son was fired from his job...”

R.'s story B. Marina:

«When my son was fired from his job due to staff reduction, money became very difficult in our family, and he also studies by correspondence. At my work there was a calendar of the Danilov Monastery with an icon of the Holy Prince Daniel of Moscow. I began to pray to him, asking him to find a job for his son so that he could finish college. And miraculously, within two weeks, my son managed to get a new job.” .

“We were truly financially poor...”

From the records of parishioner of the Danilov Monastery A.V. Astrova:

“The two young artists were in dire need of work and were truly in financial poverty. They were advised to turn to Holy Prince Daniel for help. They asked: “You probably need to do something first, somehow earn help?”

But they were told: “ Keep it simple - go and ask Prince Daniel for a job .

They did just that - they came to the relics of the prince, asked, prayed, and after that they began to receive so many orders that they could barely cope. And of course, they were no longer in poverty. They told about this when they came to the monastery to thank Prince Daniel for his help.”

About the end of quarrels and strife

During his lifetime, Prince Daniil of Moscow was a famous peacemaker. The Moscow principality had many enemies, but this was the wisdom of the prince: he tried to keep peace with everyone and multiply his lands without bloodshed.

In 1301, he managed to gather Russian princes in Dmitrov for a congress to decide how they could live peacefully and help each other.

Priest Alexander (Blokhin), assistant to the governor of the Danilov Monastery, characterizes the prince with the following words:

“This is the kind of person who, in those terrible times, when Rus' was torn apart by civil strife, when the principalities were at enmity with each other, when his brothers were ready to kill each other for pieces of land, he realized that, on the contrary, everyone needed to unite and collect lands. He was the first Russian prince who, after the invasion of Batu and the devastation of our land, began to call on all princes for unity, peace and friendship among themselves, so that the lands would become stronger and united. Thus, he laid the foundations for future statehood.”

Sergey Pereverzev, Doctor of Historical Sciences, adds:

“Most of the conflicts in which he participated ended in peace negotiations without turning into hostilities. It is no coincidence that he earned the nickname “brotherly lover.” This is an absolutely amazing feature for that time.”

And here’s what Tatyana Savitskaya, a paramedic at the St. Daniel’s Monastery, says about her personal experience of turning to the holy prince:

“The prince teaches us to love people. But to love is not so easy! And when you turn to him, he gives such strength and such, as it were, direction: he tells you how to approach, how to see a person from the other side, soften towards him, notice good qualities in him. This is all his help!”

Reviews of assistance in resolving conflict situations

There are also testimonies of believers about the saint’s gracious help in creating peace between people and resolving conflict situations.

R.'s story B. Tamara:

“In the work team where I work, the manager accused my friend N of theft. Accusations immediately fell on him from different sides. The situation in the team was difficult. I came to the monastery and asked Saint Prince Daniel for help.

The whole next day I watched how everything changed towards reconciliation. In the evening, the entire team warmly said goodbye to N., who was leaving for vacation, some asked for forgiveness, some tried to do something good to say goodbye. After leaving, we came to the conclusion: “don’t say anything bad behind your back.” It was clear that everyone's mood had changed. “I am very grateful to the holy prince for his wonderful help.”

“Pray for the children!”

R.'s story B. Lyubov:

“My son got into a fight at the age of 16, and although the guys with whom he fought did not have any serious injuries, their parents opened a criminal case against my son and his friend. And suddenly I dreamed of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and said: “Pray for the children,” and disappeared.

Before that, I had been planning to go to the Danilov Monastery for a very long time, but on that day I found it, and when I went into the Church of the Holy Fathers of the Seven Ecumenical Councils, on the second floor I saw the image of St. Nicholas, whom I had seen in a dream. I began to go to this temple to pray, and a month later the article under which my son was subject was even removed from the Criminal Code. This happened only through the prayers of Nicholas the Wonderworker and Daniel of Moscow.”

Miracles of healing from illnesses through the prayer of Daniel of Moscow

In the life of the holy prince it is said that the Lord glorified His saint by gifting believers, through their prayers to him, numerous healings. There are many examples of this today.

R.'s story B. Tamara:

“They discovered a tumor in my chest and sent me for examination to the oncology center. I put off the examination for a long time, began to pray to Prince Daniel, went to services, venerated his holy relics, and ordered prayer services.

One day, by chance, I even attended a service on the day of remembrance of the holy prince, where His Holiness the Patriarch served. I stood not far from the shrine with the relics and cried throughout the service and asked Saint Prince Daniel for help. When I was examined, it turned out that I no longer had a tumor. The doctors asked: “What did you do?” I answered: “I prayed to God!” - "Where?" - “In the Danilov Monastery, with Prince Daniel.”

“My wife suffered from infertility...”

R.'s story B. Igor:

“My wife Anastasia suffered from infertility. We were examined by many doctors, underwent several courses of treatment, and had surgery - but there were no results. All this time we fervently prayed to Saint Daniel of Moscow, and he did not leave us. In the summer of 2001, we made a pilgrimage to the monasteries of Moscow and the Moscow region. Our last point was the Danilov Monastery. On May 2, 2002, our son was born. We named him Daniel. Thank God for everything!"

“I caught a cold and got sinusitis”

The story of the priest Fr. Alexandra:

“This incident happened when I was studying at the Moscow Theological Seminary. One day I caught a bad cold and got sinusitis. Such terrible pain began that I could not find a place for myself. In the seminary isolation ward I was warned that I would have to undergo a puncture; it would be a very unpleasant procedure.

The pain kept getting worse. I was no longer just moaning, but screaming. No poultices or compresses helped. And then I remembered that, from the time I worked as a temple attendant in the Danilov Monastery, I had kept a handkerchief with which, at my request, the relics of the holy prince were wiped.

I put the scarf on my forehead and put the skufiya on top. Feeling relieved, he fell soundly asleep. When I woke up in the morning, my head no longer hurt, and it was as if nothing had happened. With full confidence, I can say that I owe my recovery to the gracious and miraculous help of the holy, blessed Prince Daniel, who repaid me with such a great benefit for my little concern for his shrine. Reverend Prince Daniel, pray to God for us!”

Description of the icon of Daniel of Moscow

The holy prince is often depicted in monastic vestments, since he became a monk almost before his death. In addition, a widely circulated image depicts the Danilov Monastery in one of the hands. This monastery was created by the prince himself, calling Stilita in honor of San Daniele.

The icon of Daniel of Moscow has special significance among people engaged in managerial and leadership activities, because the saint is an example of wise leadership, which not only does not contradict faith, but also corresponds to the ideals of the Christian cause. In addition, they pray in front of the icon of Daniel when it is necessary to resolve various disputes or ask for the protection of their homeland. Therefore, the prince is also considered the defender of Russia and turns to him in days of unrest or something similar.
