Ancient prayer and King Solomon's money plot

When in difficult times there is no way to count on people’s help, a person in despair asks for higher powers to protect him. Believing Christians always turn to the Lord, since the Bible suggests that everyone who asks will be heard.

Solomon's prayer is a kind of message from the king to young people. This ruler was famous for his special wisdom and was respected. Let's study the text of the appeal to the Creator and its interpretation.

The Bible is a book for people of all ages. There is some very difficult reading material that is not always easy to understand, let alone follow. The Bible is not only about adult behavior, problems and solutions. It is addressed to both children and young people who are just looking for their path in life.

The Prayer of Solomon - “These are the words of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel, that you may learn wisdom and discipline, and understand clear speech, that you may obtain sound discipline, which gives wisdom, law, and righteousness, when the ignorant become wise, and the young become understanding.” This is what it says at the beginning of the book (Proverbs 1:1-4).

The need for education

The Prayer of Solomon - for young readers. Why? Solomon answers in Proverbs 22 - verse 6: "Train up your child well from childhood, then he will not stray even in old age."

All children learn from their parents: good or bad behavior depends on how adults behave. If they have not learned responsible behavior, they will probably never learn it later. Solomon knew the need for a good education before a child set out on his own, and he wrote down important doctrines and principles.

Learn from other people's mistakes!

God wants us to benefit from the experiences of others and to analyze the many events and patterns in the Bible (1 Corinthians 10:11). Experience is often the most effective teacher, but it won't necessarily be easy. Therefore, it is better to learn not from losses and grief, but from examples from the lives of others.

When you tried something and it was harmful, you remember it. Even if God forgives us for sin, he allows us to suffer the consequences of wrongdoing.

An example is the great mistakes of David, who committed adultery and murder. And although God forgave him completely (12:13), he suffered terrible things as a result of his wrongdoings.

Of course, it is better to learn from David’s mistakes in absentia than to make them yourself and suffer the consequences. That's what the book of proverbs is about—learning from the experiences of others.

God-Given Wisdom of Solomon

What makes Solomon a great teacher, a leader for young people and, of course, older people? He was the wisest man. The Creator Himself speaks about this in the Message.

When Solomon became David's heir after his father's death, God appeared to him in a dream and asked him what he wanted as king.

“But I am still young, I do not know,” answered Solomon, “And your servant stands among your people whom you have chosen, such a great people that no one can count or even calculate because of their multitude. Do you want servants to be obedient in heart, and you to be able to judge people and understand what is good and evil? For who can do this [control] powerful people?”

God was pleased with Solomon's true humility. Because he does not ask for long life or wealth, does not wish death for his enemies, but expects understanding and justice.

Orthodox icons and prayers

PSALM I (Psalm of Solomon)

1 I cried out to the Lord in my mortal anguish, I called out to God in the power of sinners.

2 Suddenly there came a cry of war before me: I will be heard, for I am filled with righteousness.

3 I thought in my heart that I am filled with righteousness, for I have prospered and increased in number among my descendants.

4 Let their wealth spread throughout the whole earth, and their glory to the ends of the earth.

5 They rose to the stars, and I said: No, they will not fall!

6 But they became proud of their wealth and did not hold on.

7 Their sins are a secret, and I did not know.

8 By their iniquities they surpassed the tribes that were before them, and they defiled the holy things of the Lord with filthiness.

PSALM II (Psalm of Solomon. About Jerusalem)

1 The sinner grew proud and broke down the strong walls with a battering weapon, and You did not hinder.

2 Strange nations came up to your altar and trampled on their sandals in arrogance,

3 because the children of Jerusalem profaned the holy things of the Lord, offering gifts to God in wickedness.

4 Because of such deeds of theirs, He said: Throw this far from Me, for My good pleasure is not in it.

5 The brilliance of their glory turned into nothing, before the face of God they were completely humiliated.

6 Sons and daughters are in shameful captivity, a seal is on their necks, they are branded among the nations.

7 According to their sins he did them: he delivered them into the hands of those with superior strength,

8 He turned away His face and refused to have mercy on them—the young man and the old man, and the children along with them.

9 For they all did something unworthy together; they did not listen.

10 And the firmament was darkened, and the earth turned away from them,

11 For every man in it did not do as much as they did.

12 And the earth will know the righteousness of Your judgments, O God.

13 And behold, God exposed the children of Jerusalem to mockery: instead of dens of debauchery, everyone who passed here

turned, in the light of day they laughed at their iniquity,

14 By the same things that they did in the light of day, they made their wickedness visible.

And the daughters of Jerusalem have all become accessible according to Your judgment,

15 because they defiled themselves by associating with just anyone. With my belly and womb I grieve for them.

16 I will justify You, O God, in uprightness of heart, for in Your judgments is Your righteousness, O God,

17 For You have repaid sinners according to their deeds, according to their very grievous sins.

18 Thou hast revealed their sins, that Thy judgment may be clear,

19 erased the memory of them from the face of the earth.

God is a righteous Judge and does not look at faces.

20 He pulled down the beauty of Jerusalem from the throne of glory, and the heathen trampled it underfoot as a reproach.

21 He girded himself with sackcloth instead of fine clothing, with string around his head instead of a crown,

22 He took off the miter of glory that God had placed on him:

23 His beauty fell to the earth in disgrace.

24 And I saw, and raised a prayer to the face of the Lord, and said: Enough, Lord, Thy hand is heavy upon Jerusalem - put an end to the invasion of the pagans!

25 For they laughed and knew no mercy in their anger and wicked rage.

26 And they will complete their work, unless You, O Lord, punish them in Your anger,

27 For they did not do this out of love for You, but out of spiritual lust -

28 They poured out their wrath on us in plunder.

So do not hesitate, O God, to punish them on their heads,

29 in order to condemn the arrogance of the dragon to reproach!

30 And God did not hesitate, showing me his arrogance, pierced on the mountains of Egypt, worse than the last thing humiliated on earth and in the sea,

31 His body was carried on the waves in complete wickedness, and there was no one to bury:

32 For the Lord has humiliated him and condemned him to reproach. And he did not think that a man

and I didn’t think about the latter.

33 He said: I will become master of the earth and the sea! - and did not know that God is great, mighty in His great strength.

34 He is the King in heaven, judging kings and rulers,

35 who awakens me to glory and lulls the proud to eternal destruction in dishonor, because they did not recognize Him.

36 Now, ye rulers of the earth, behold the judgment of the Lord, for the King is great and righteous, who judges in the heavenly places.

37 Bless God, you who fear the Lord in wisdom, for the mercy of the Lord in the day of judgment is on those who fear Him.

38 When He separates the righteous from the sinner, He will reward the sinners forever according to their deeds.

39 And he will have mercy on the righteous, free him from humiliation before the sinner, and reward the sinner for what he has done to the righteous.

40 For the Lord is good to those who trust in him with confidence. May He grant His mercy to those who are with Him, that they may continually remain before Him in strength.

41 Glorified is the Lord forever before His servants!

PSALM III (Psalm of Solomon. About the righteous)

1 Why are you sleeping, O soul, and not glorifying the Lord?

2 Sing a new song to the praised God! Sing and stay awake to serve Him, for a psalm to God that comes from the whole heart is good.

3 The righteous always remember the Lord and acknowledge and praise the judgments of the Lord.

4 The righteous will not despise the admonition of the Lord, but his favor toward the Lord will remain constant.

5 The righteous stumbled and glorified the Lord, he fell and looked at what God would do to him,

6 looks where salvation will come to him.

7 The righteous are honest before God their Savior; in the house of the righteous there is no sin upon sin.

8 The righteous always keep his house, and in his fall he casts out unrighteousness.

9 While fasting, he prays to forgive his ignorance and humbles his soul.

10 And the Lord cleanses everyone who is godly and his house.

11 The sinner stumbles and curses his life, the day on which he was born, and his mother’s womb.

12 He piled sins upon sins in his life.

13 He is fallen, for his body is abominable, and will rise no more: the sinner's destruction is forever.

14 And when he looks upon the righteous, he will not come to his senses.

15 This is the lot of sinners forever.

16 But those who fear the Lord will rise to eternal life, and their life is in the light of the Lord and will never fail.

PSALM IV (Psalm of Solomon. To people-pleasers)

1 Why are you sitting, O wicked one, in the Sanhedrin? Your heart has strayed far from the Lord; you anger the God of Israel with your iniquities!

2 He is excessive in speech, excessive and suspicious more than anyone else, cruel in words when he condemns sinners in court.

3 And his hand will be among the first to fall on the sinner, as if in jealousy, while he himself is burdened with the diversity of sins and immoderation.

4 His eyes are on every woman without distinction, his tongue is deceitful in an oath.

5 In the night and in secret he sins, as if he were not seen by anyone; with his eyes he speaks to every woman, plotting evil,

6 He quickly enters every dwelling, rejoicing in spirit, as if he were without sin.

7 Destroy, O God, those who live in hypocrisy next to the godly, destroy their life with the destruction of the flesh and poverty.

8 Reveal, O God, the deeds of people-pleasers, so that their deeds may be mocked and desecrated.

9 And let the godly acknowledge the righteousness of the punishment of their God, when He destroys sinners from the presence of the righteous,

10 people-pleasers who speak the law with cunning.

11 And their eyes are like a serpent in the dwelling of a strong man, to destroy the wisdom of the innocent with wicked speeches.

12 His speech is deception, to gratify the lusts of the unrighteous.

13 He did not retreat until he had scattered them as orphans and laid waste the house for the sake of criminal lust.

14 He lied in his speeches, as if there were no One who Sees and Judges.

15 He was filled with iniquity, and his eyes were on the house of strangers, to destroy it with the words of temptation. And his soul is not satisfied with all this, like hell.

16 Let his lot, O Lord, be dishonor before You, his going out in lamentation, and his coming in in misery.

17 His life is in sorrow and poverty and confusion, O Lord: his sleep is in sorrow, and his awakening is in confusion.

18 Let sleep be taken away from his temples in the night, and let him fall ingloriously from all the work of his hands.

19 Let him enter his house empty-handed, and let nothing become in that house with which he satisfied his soul.

20 In solitude, childless, he grows old until his death.

21 Let the flesh of men-pleasers be scattered among beasts, and the bones of criminals under the sun in disgrace.

22 Let crows peck out the eyes of flattering people,

23 For they have laid waste many dwellings of men in disgrace, and scattered them in lust.

24 And they did not remember God, nor did they fear God in all this,

25 But they angered God and made him angry. May He destroy them from the earth, for they have seduced the souls of the meek by deceit.

26 Blessed are those who fear the Lord in their meekness.

27 The Lord will deliver them from treacherous people and sinners, and will deliver us from every temptation of crime.

28 May God destroy those who commit all unrighteousness in pride, for He is the great Judge and the mighty Lord our righteous God.

29 Let Thy mercy, O Lord, be upon all those who love Thee.

PSALM V (Psalm of Solomon)

1 Lord God, I will glorify Your name with rejoicing among those who see the righteousness of Your judgments.

2 For You are good and merciful, You are the refuge of the poor.

3 When I cry to You, do not turn away from me in silence -

4 For no man shall take spoil from a mighty man.

5 And who will take from all that You have created, if You do not give?

6 For man and his lot are in Your balance, and he will not add to fill beyond Your judgment, O God!

7 In our sorrow, we will call on You for help, and You will not reject our prayer, for You are our only God.

8 Do not let Your hand fall heavily on us, so that we do not have to sin.

9 And if you do not turn to us, we will not leave you, but will follow you.

10 For if I hunger, I will cry to You, O God, and You will give to me.

11 You feed the birds and the fish, giving rain in the deserts to grow greenery, so as to provide food for everyone living in the desert.

12 And if they hunger, they will lift up their faces to You.

13 You, O God, feed kings and rulers and nations; Who is the hope of the poor and needy if not You, Lord?

14 And You will hear - for who is good and righteous besides You? - You will hear how the soul of the humble rejoices when You mercifully open Your hand.

15 Human kindness towards others is stingy and cold, and if he repeats giving without grumbling, you will marvel at that.

16 But Your giving is great, gracious and abundant, and the one whose hope is in You, O Lord, will not be stingy in giving.

17 Thy mercy is gracious throughout all the earth, O Lord!

18 Blessed is he whom God remembers, giving him a moderate abundance:

19 If a person receives too much, he sins.

20 The righteous measure is sufficient for him, and therefore thanks be to the Lord for the righteous supply.

21 Let them that fear the Lord rejoice in good things, and let thy goodness be upon Israel in thy kingdom.

22 Blessed be the glory of the Lord, for He is our King!

PSALM VI (Psalm of Solomon. With hope)

1 Blessed is the man whose heart is ready to call on the name of the Lord:

2 By remembering the name of the Lord, he will be saved.

3 His ways are guided by the Lord, and the works of his hands are kept.

4 His soul will not be troubled by deceitful visions of the night,

5 at the crossing of rivers, in the midst of the troubled waters of the sea, he will not be afraid.

6 He arose from his sleep and blessed the name of the Lord.

7 In the constancy of his heart he sang the name of his God, and prayed that the face of the Lord should not be turned away from all his house.

8 And the Lord heard the prayer of everyone who abides in the fear of God, and the Lord will fulfill every request of the soul that trusts in Him.

9 Blessed is the Lord, who gives mercy to those who truly love Him!

PSALM VII (Psalm of Solomon. [Psalm] of address)

1 Do not depart from us, O God, Lest those who hate us without reason oppress us.

2 For Thou hast repelled them, O God, and let not their foot trample the inheritance of Thy holiness.

3 Make us understand according to Your will, and do not give us over to the pagans.

4 If you send death, command it about us, for You are merciful and are not angry at our deeds.

5 Your name lives among us, and you will have mercy on us.

6 And the heathen will not prevail against us, for You are our protector.

7 And we will call on You, and You will hear us.

8 For You will have compassion on the family of Israel forever and will not reject them.

And we are under Your yoke forever and under the scourge of Your admonition.

9 You will guide us in the hour of Your intercession; You will have mercy on the house of Jacob on the day that You promised them.

PSALM VIII (Psalm of Solomon. For victory)

1 My ear has heard sorrow and the voice of war, the voice of a trumpet proclaiming murder and destruction,

2 The voice of a great people, like a great wind, like a whirlwind of great fire rushing through the desert.

3 And I said in my heart: Where will God stop him?

4 I heard a voice: in Jerusalem, the city of the Holy Place.

5 My loins were broken at these words, my knees weakened.

6 My heart was afraid, my bones were shaken like flax.

7 I said, They direct their ways in righteousness. I thought here about the judgments of God from the creation of heaven and earth, I justified God in His judgments from the beginning of time.

8 God revealed their sins in the light of day, and the whole earth knew the righteous judgments of God.

9 In the hidden places of their iniquity,

10 Having angered the Lord, son and mother, father and daughter, mixed together,

11 Each one committed adultery with his neighbor's wife, and they agreed with each other about the same, sealing the agreement with oaths.

12 The holy things of God were plundered, and there was no heir to deliver,

13 They trampled the altar of the Lord - fresh from every

filth, during the bloodshed they desecrated the victims, like unclean meat.

14 They forsook no sin, which they would not have committed worse than the Gentiles.

15 Therefore God prepared for them a spirit of error—he gave them a cup of undiluted wine to drink.

16 He brought a man from the ends of the earth, a man who struck hard,

17 He made war on Jerusalem and its land.

18 The elders of the land came out to that man with joy and said to him: Your coming is welcome! here, come in in peace!

19 They smoothed out the rough paths of their entrance, opened the gates of Jerusalem, and crowned its walls.

20 He entered as a father into the house of his sons in peace, and established his steps firmly,

21 He occupied the towers of the city and the wall of Jerusalem:

22 For God brought him, unmoved, into their error.

23 He destroyed their elders and every wise man in the council; he shed the blood of the inhabitants of Jerusalem like unclean water,

24 He took away their sons and daughters who were born in filth.

25 And they did according to the measure of their uncleanness, according to the example of their fathers,

26 They defiled Jerusalem and what was dedicated to the name of God.

27 God is justified in His judgments against the nations of the earth,

28 And those who honor God are like sinless lambs among them.

29 Praise be the Lord, who judges all the earth in His righteousness!

30 For behold, O God, Thou hast shown us Thy judgment in Thy righteousness,

31 Their eyes have seen Your judgments, O God, we have justified Your honored name forever.

32 For you are the God of righteousness, who judges Israel with admonition.

33 Turn, O God, your mercy upon us and have pity on us,

34 Gather the scattering of Israel, be good and merciful,

35 For Your faith is with us, and we will harden our necks, and You are our guide.

36 Forsake us not, O our God, lest the pagans swallow us up in the absence of a deliverer.

37 And You are our God from the beginning, and we have trusted in You, O Lord.

38 And we will not depart from You, for Your judgments are good against us.

39 Your favor is upon us and our children forever, O Lord our Savior, and we will never again be shaken for ever.

40 We praise the Lord in His judgments through the mouth of the righteous,

41 But you, O Israel, are blessed by the Lord forever.

PSALM IX (Psalm of Solomon. For reproof)

1 Israel was led away from their home into a foreign land; they strayed from the Lord who delivered them -

2 The inheritance which the Lord had given them before all nations was denied them; Israel was scattered according to the word of God.

3 And may You, O God, be justified in Your righteousness by their iniquities,

4 For You are the righteous Judge of all the nations of the earth.

5 And no one who does wrong will escape from Your knowledge,

6 Just as the righteousness of those who honor You is before You, O Lord, for where can man hide from Your knowledge?

7 God, our works are the choice and power of our souls, to do right or wrong by the works of our hands.

8 But in Your righteousness be merciful to the sons of men!

9 He who does what is right prepares for himself life near the Lord, but he who does what is wrong is himself guilty of the destruction of his soul.

10 For the judgment of the Lord is righteous upon man and house.

11 To whom will you show kindness, O God, if not to those who call on the Lord?

12 The Lord will cleanse the sinful soul, allowing it to confess, allowing it to pour out its sins,

13 For we and our faces are ashamed of all that we have done.

14 And who will He forgive the sins of, if not those who have sinned?

15 You will bless the righteous, O God, and you will not punish them if they have stumbled, and Your goodness is on those who sin and repent.

16 And now You are God, and we are a people whom You have loved. Look and have pity, O God of Israel: for we are Yours, and do not turn Your mercy away from us, lest they approach us.

17 For You have chosen Abraham's seed among all nations

18 And you have put His name on us, O Lord, and you will never leave us.

19 In the Covenant You testified to our fathers about us, and we will trust in You, turning our souls to You.

20 The mercy of the Lord is upon the house of Israel forever and ever!

PSALM X (Song of Solomon)

1 Blessed is the man whom the Lord remembered in reproof, who was turned away by a scourge from the evil path and was cleansed from sins, so as not to increase their number.

2 He who prepares his back for the scourge will be cleansed, for the Lord is good to those who suffer His punishment.

3 For He will make the paths of the righteous straight and will not tempt them with His admonition.

4 And the mercy of the Lord is upon those who truly love Him, and the Lord will remember His servants in kindness.

5 The testimony is in the law of the everlasting covenant, the testimony of the Lord is in visiting the ways of men.

6 Just and good is our Lord in His judgments forever: and Israel will glorify the name of the Lord with joy.

7 And the godly will give thanks to Him in the assembly of the people, and the Lord will have mercy on the poor for the joy of Israel.

8 For He is merciful and good forever, and the congregations of Israel will glorify the name of the Lord.

9 From the Lord salvation comes to the house of Israel for everlasting joy!

PSALM XI ([Psalm] of Solomon. On waiting)

1 Blow the holy trumpet in Zion!

2 Shout the voice of the good news in Jerusalem! For God had mercy on Israel and visited them.

3 Arise, O Jerusalem, on high ground, and behold your children from the east and the west, gathered together in one by the Lord.

4 From the north they come, rejoicing in their God; God has gathered them from the distant islands.

5 The high mountains are made low for them,

6 The hills fled away as they entered, the oak groves gave shade to them in their way:

7 God made every fragrant tree grow for them, that Israel might pass through in the presence of the glory of their God.

8 Put on, O Jerusalem, the robe of your glory, prepare the garments of your holiness, for God has declared the good of Israel forever and ever.

9 May the Lord fulfill what He has proclaimed over Israel and Jerusalem, may the Lord raise up Israel in the name of His glory! May the mercy of the Lord be upon Israel forever and ever!

PSALM XII ([Psalm] of Solomon. To a criminal tongue)

1 Lord, deliver my soul from a criminal and vicious man, from a criminal and slanderous tongue that speaks lies and deceit!

2 When committing debauchery, the words from the tongue of a wicked man are like fire setting fire to straw in a current.

3 So let his coming fill the houses with lying words, let him cut down the trees of inflaming criminal joy,

4 Let him sow enmity among the criminal dwellings with slandering lips! May God remove from the blameless lips those who commit iniquity in ignorance, and may the bones of the slanderers be scattered away by those who know the fear of God!

5 In the flame of fire let the wicked tongue be put to death by the hands of the righteous!

6 May the Lord protect the peace of the soul that hates the workers of iniquity, and may the Lord guide the husband who brings peace to the home.

7 May the salvation of the Lord rest on Israel His children forever,

8 And let sinners perish from the presence of the Lord forever, but let the righteous of the Lord inherit the promise of the Lord!

PSALM XIII (Psalm of Solomon. Comfort of the righteous)

1 The right hand of the Lord has protected me, the right hand of the Lord has protected us.

2 The hand of the Lord has delivered us from the impending sword, from famine and the death of sinners.

3 Evil beasts ran against them and tore their flesh with their teeth

and with their jaws they crushed their bones, and the Lord delivered us from all this.

4 The godly man is troubled by his sins, and let him not be taken along with sinners.

5 For the overthrow of the sinner is terrible, but none of this affects the righteous:

6 It is not equal to admonish the righteous who sin in ignorance, and to overthrow sinners.

7 The righteous is punished in clothing, lest the sinner triumph over the righteous.

8 For He instructs the righteous as a beloved son, and admonishes him as a firstborn.

9 And the Lord is merciful to those who worship Him, and He will atone for their sins with admonition, for the life of the righteous endures forever;

10 But sinners will be taken away and destroyed, and there will be no more remembrance of them.

11 But the mercy of the Lord is upon the godly, and his mercy upon them that fear him.

PSALM XIV (Song of Solomon)

1 The Lord is truly faithful to those who love Him, who endure His chastisement, and walk in the righteousness of His precepts, according to the law which He has given us for our life.

2 The righteous of the Lord will live therein forever, a paradise of the Lord, trees of life are the righteous of the Lord.

3 Their shoot has taken root forever, and will not be plucked out of the ground forever, for the lot and inheritance of God is Israel.

4 And sinners and lawless men did not so love the day in the doom of their sin, in the bitterness of corruption, in their lust,

5 and did not remember God, for the ways of men are completely open before Him, and the storehouses of the hearts are known before they are fulfilled.

6 Therefore their lot is hell, darkness and destruction, and they will not be found in the day when mercy touches the righteous: but those who honor the Lord will inherit a life of joy.

PSALM XV (Psalm of Solomon. With song)

1 In my trouble I called on the name of the Lord, I trusted in the God of Jacob for help and was saved,

2 For You, O God, are the hope and refuge of the afflicted.

3 And what has power, O God, but to give Your praise in truth?

4 And what can man do but give praise to Your name—

5 a psalm and a song of praise with joy of heart, the fruit of the lips on the harmonious instrument of the tongue, the firstfruits of the mouth from a godly and righteous heart?

6 He who does this will never be shaken by the powers of evil; the flames of fire and the wrath of the wicked will not touch him,

7 When he comes out to sinners from the presence of God, to break in pieces all the strength of sinners,

8 For the sign of God is upon the righteous for salvation: famine, sword, and death are far from the righteous.

9 They will flee from the godly as if from war; they will rush after sinners and overtake them. And the workers of iniquity will not escape the judgment of God, but as if by cunning enemies they will be captured,

10 For the sign of destruction is on their foreheads,

11 And the inheritance of sinners is destruction and darkness, and their iniquities will follow them to the depths of hell.

12 Their inheritance will not go to their children,

13 But iniquity will make the houses of sinners desolate, and sinners will perish in the day of the Lord’s judgment forever.

14 When God will visit the earth on the day of His judgment to reward sinners forever and ever.

15 But those who fear the Lord will know His mercy on that day and will continue their lives through the mercy of their God.

PSALM XVI (Psalm of Solomon. For intercession)

1 My soul sank into slumber, forgetting about the Lord, and I almost fell into sleepy oblivion,

2 like those who have withdrawn from God. A little and my soul would have been put to death near the gates of the underworld along with the sinner,

3 My soul would have been carried away from the Lord God of Israel, if the Lord had not helped me with His everlasting mercy.

4 He pricked me, as one pricks a horse with a thorn, so that I might serve Him, my Savior and Protector at every hour - He saved me.

5 I praise You, O God, for You helped me to my salvation and did not number me with sinners in destruction.

6 Do not remove Your mercy from me, O God, keep the memory of You from my heart until I die.

7 Turn me away, O God, from evil sin and from every evil woman who seduces the foolish.

8 And let not the beauty of a wicked woman lead me astray, nor let anyone beset by an evil sin.

9 Direct the works of my hands in Your fear, and keep my ways in remembrance of You.

10 Clothe my tongue and my mouth with words of righteousness; keep anger and foolish wrath far from me,

11 Remove murmuring and cowardice in sorrow from me; If I sin, enlighten me so that I may turn to You.

12 Establish my soul with favor and joy; You will strengthen my soul, and Your giving will be sufficient for me,

13 For if You do not strengthen, who will bear the punishment of poverty?

14 When does the hand of abomination convict a man’s soul? Your test is in human flesh and in the sorrow of poverty.

15 He who maintains righteousness in all troubles will be shown mercy by the Lord.

PSALM XVII (Psalm of Solomon with a song to the king)

1 Lord, You Yourself are our King forever and ever, for in You, O God, does our soul glory.

2 What is the lifespan of a person on earth? According to his time - and hope for him.

3 But we will trust in God our Savior, for the power of our God endures forever with mercy,

4 And the kingdom of our God is forever in judgment upon the nations.

5 You, O Lord, chose David to be king over Israel, and You swore to him concerning his seed forever, that his kingdom might not perish before You.

6 Because of our sins, sinners rose up against us and attacked us and oppressed us. What You did not promise them, they took by force,

7 And they have not glorified Your honorable name. In glory they erected a kingdom as a sign of their greatness.

8 They made the throne of David empty in their loud arrogance. But You, O God, will cast them down and take their seed from the earth,

9 raising up against them a man who is foreign to our race,

10 You will repay them according to their sins, O God, so that it may happen to them according to their deeds.

11 Because of their deeds God will not be merciful to them; He tested their seed and did not forgive them.

12 The Lord is faithful in all His judgments that He executes on earth.

13 The wicked has deprived our land of those living on it, kidnapped young and old and their children along with them.

14 In his anger he sent them away to the West and mocked the rulers of the earth and showed no mercy to them.

15 The enemy is a stranger to us, he is proud, and his heart is alien to our God.

16 And all that he did in Jerusalem was as the heathen did in their cities to their gods.

17 And the children of the covenant excelled them among the mixed nations, and there was no one among them who practiced mercy and righteousness in Jerusalem.

18 The loving congregations of the godly fled from them, like sparrows scattered from their nest.

19 They wandered in the deserts in order to save their souls from evil, and the soul that escapes from them is precious in the eyes of a migrant.

20 Their dispersion became lawless throughout all the earth, for the heaven ceased to rain upon the earth,

21 The eternal fountains closed in the depths among the high mountains, for there was no one among the people who would do justice and judgment. From their ruler to the least of the people, there is every kind of sin.

22 The king is in iniquity, and the judge is in unrighteousness, and the people are in sin.

23 Look upon them, O Lord, and raise up for them their king, the son of David, in the hour that Thou knowest, O God, that he may reign over Thy servant Israel.

24 And thou shalt gird it with power to smite unrighteous rulers.

25 May he cleanse Jerusalem from the pagans who are trampling the city to destruction. In wisdom and righteousness

26 May he drive out sinners from Your inheritance, may he eradicate the pride of sinners, and, like earthen vessels, will crush with a rod of iron all their stubbornness.

27 May he destroy the wicked pagans with the words of his mouth; by his threat the pagans will flee from before him, and he will convict sinners with the word of their heart.

28 And he will gather together a holy people, and will lead them in justice, and will judge the tribes of the people sanctified by the Lord their God.

29 And he will not allow unrighteousness to dwell among them, and no man who knows evil will be with them.

30 For he will know that they are all the sons of their God, and he will divide them according to their tribes on the earth.

31 Neither the immigrant nor the stranger will dwell with them any more. He will judge nations and nations in his wisdom and justice.

PSALM XVIII (Psalm of Solomon. More about Christ the Lord)

1 Lord! Thy mercy is upon the work of Thy hands forever,

2 Your grace and abundant gift are upon Israel. Your eyes look upon them, and not one of them recognizes need,

3 Your ears will hear the prayer of the unfortunate one who prays with hope. Your judgments over the whole earth are filled with mercy,

4 And thy love is upon the seed of Abraham, the children of Israel. Your punishment is on us - as on your firstborn and only son,

5 to turn away the obedient soul from ignorant sin.

6 May God purify Israel on the day of mercy with blessing, on the day of election by the return of His anointed.

7 Blessed are those who happen in those days to see the blessings of the Lord, which He will show to the generation that is to come

8 Under the rod of discipline of the Lord's anointed, in the fear of his God, in wisdom of the spirit, righteousness and power,

9 that He might guide man in works of righteousness through the fear of God, and restore them all to the fear of the Lord—

10 a good generation that fears God in the days of mercy.

God's Favorite

“I give you a wise and understanding heart. And I give what you did not ask for, namely, riches and honor, so that none of the kings will be the wiser” (1 Samuel 3: 7-13).

The Bible describes Solomon's wide range of interests in such areas as:

  • trade,
  • nature and agriculture,
  • study of marriage and friendship,
  • raising children and dozens of other areas of human life.

Basic Principles of Solomon's Teachings

Let's highlight a few basic principles and warnings that are especially important for young people:

  • The first of these principles concerns friends. “My son, if the bad guys lure you, don’t follow,” warns Solomon, “if they say, come with us!” We want to hide from blood and imitate the innocent for no reason, we want to find precious things, we want to rob our homes. Come with us! Do not walk on the path with them, keep your feet far from their path, for their feet run to evil and hasten to shed blood.” (Proverbs 1:10-16). As before, today every day brings reports of murders, robberies, and rapes involving minors and teenagers. The danger is not only in the “big” crime, you can slip away if you fall into the wrong company, risking here abusing drugs and alcohol, and becoming a fraudster. “Be wise,” as Solomon says, “avoid people who drag themselves to a bad level.”
  • A young man must choose his friends wisely, accepting their attitudes and values. Such friendship is beneficial for both parties. “One knife beats off another man’s knife.” (Proverbs 27:17). The second principle is closely related to the first - what a person sows, he reaps. Together these two principles are expressed in many of Solomon's sayings. Crimes may pay off first (Psalm 73:3-5, 12). “Every path is open to the Lord.” So says Solomon. “The wicked deeds will be known, and he will be bound by the ropes of his sin.” (Proverbs 5:21-23).
  • The third principle is emphasized in proverbs: learn to value knowledge and discipline. “He who loves to learn becomes wise, but he who hates it remains a fool” (Proverbs 12:1).

  • The value of the fourth wisdom: There is a rich treasure available to us, which we have so far been able to shed light on. This refers to the book of Proverbs and the entire Word of God. This is the wisdom of life written down for everyone. “Value knowledge more than precious gold.” This is what Solomon advises. “For wisdom is better than pearls” (Proverbs 8:10-11). “Wisdom is better than gold, insight is nobler than silver” (Proverbs 16:16).
  • The meaning of Solomon's fifth principle: “I walked through the field of Sloth to the Vineyard of Sins, and it was full of nettles, it was full of thistles, and the wall fell down. Good work brings reward, just as bad work brings its own “reward.” The best defense against dismissal and job loss is to make yourself “indispensable” and try in good faith.
  • Immorality is the end of spirituality. Would God have written his laws and commanded them to be adhered to, if it were not in our nature to keep them? God knows the nature of man very well, since he created him in his own image. But the temptation to lie, steal and kill became too great even for Archangel Lucifer, whom God provided with freedom of choice. The Creator knew that even for the man he created, the temptation would become too strong. Sixth lesson: “Do not carry in your heart any desire for someone else’s beauty and do not allow yourself to envy someone else’s appearance.”

The history of the appearance of King Solomon's prayers

Solomon was the third king of the Israeli state at the beginning of the 10th century BC and reigned for forty years. This is a truly legendary and unusually bright personality, about whom there are countless legends. He is remembered as the wisest man, a great ruler and a fair judge.

The son of King David and his wife Bathsheba ascended to the throne as a twelve-year-old teenager. They say that God himself blessed Solomon to reign, in return asking him to serve him faithfully. The All-Merciful One rewarded the king with extraordinary wisdom and patient character.

Information about the king has reached our days thanks to the Bible. He left a great legacy in the form of parables, some texts of psalms, prayers, Old Testament manuscripts - “Song of Solomon”, “Ecclesiastes”. This man had depth of thought and poetic gift. His prayers addressed to the Almighty always found a response. Solomon received many benefits and gave a lot of his knowledge to people.

And now Christians pray to the king of Israel himself:

  • for help and support in difficult times;
  • improving well-being;
  • gaining wisdom;
  • deliverance from bodily and spiritual infirmities.

Solomon made his reign a golden age for the Jewish state. Under his leadership, majestic and luxurious buildings were erected - the Temple of the Lord on Mount Moriah and the royal palace in Jerusalem. Splendor was manifested in everything - gold, silver, precious stones, magical tents, luxurious chariots, stone baths, artistic mosaics, marble ponds, luxurious fabrics, amazing incense, gardens and groves planted with rare plants, many servants and guards. It’s impossible to count everything.

Legends, one more beautiful than the other, speak of 700 wives and 300 concubines who doted on him, and he had warm feelings for each of them. The girls surrounded their master with songs, dances, and playing harps, flutes, and lutes.

The index finger of Solomon's left hand was decorated with a ring of a bloody red asterix with six pearl rays emanating from it. On the back of the stone was a wise and deep inscription: “Everything passes.”

At the age of 52, Solomon passed away and was buried in Bethlehem.

Text of Solomon's prayer for money

King Solomon, by his faith, had untold wealth. Prayer addressed to him can improve relationships with money and avoid poverty.

“I will pray to the Lord God, I will worship the Holy Indivisible Trinity. I, servant of God (name), will go, blessing myself, I will go out, crossing myself, from the hut to the door, from the door into the open field, from the open field to the Okiyan-sea. There is a white island on the Okiyan Sea, and on that island there is a church. In that church, King Solomon himself serves God, praying to God: give me, Lord, a bright mind, infinite wisdom! Cases will not be remade, courts will not be re-judged, the king alone decides matters, the courts will decide. It’s not I who pray to God, Solomon himself prays. I don’t do things, Solomon himself does things. Blessed Solomon, wise Solomon, give me your wisdom, send me a quick mind, controversial deeds. To get things done, money was born. Just as this silk is smooth and clear, so would my affairs be smooth and clear. Just as this silk is expensive, so would my affairs be worth a lot. Amen".
