Soon Sampson moved to the capital of Byzantium - Constantinople. Here he settled in a poor hut and led a very simple and modest life. Many patients visited the famous doctor, especially those who were abandoned by other doctors: lepers, the blind, the paralyzed, the possessed. The fame of Sampson spread throughout Constantinople. The desperate, who had previously spent all their funds on useless medicines, received healing from his healing art and prayers. Hearing about Sampson’s godly life, the Patriarch of Constantinople called him to himself and ordained him as a priest.

After the healing of the emperor, Sampson took over the leadership of the Hospice House of Constantinople, built at his request by Justinian.
