Hear us, Merciful and Almighty God, may Thy grace be sent down through our prayer. How to read a prayer for conceiving a healthy child

What do the saints pray for?
Orthodox Christians quite often turn to Saints Joachim and Anna. In the church tradition, a series of prayers, an akathist, and a canon are dedicated to them. It is believed that a request to the righteous couple helps in the same troubles from which they themselves suffered. Therefore, they are usually approached with the desire to have a child. But not only in childbirth can the parents of the Mother of God help.
Since their lives were filled with tender mutual love and care for each other, Joachim and Anna are prayed for the granting of family well-being in marriage. So that the union is as strong as that of the saints. If there is discord in the house, the spouses cannot reconcile and find peace, then it also makes sense to ask the righteous couple for help.
Well, of course, prayer to these saints will help raise a child correctly. After all, the daughter of Anna and her husband, newborn Mary, became the embodiment of the Divine miracle, joy, hope. Like no one else, this family understood how great a joy and responsibility it is to be a parent and raise a child.

How a prayer service is served
There are three types of prayer services:
- simple
- with the blessing of water
- with an akathist.
Any prayer service begins with the priest shouting and singing a prayer to the Holy Spirit “Heavenly King.” Then the litany is pronounced, troparia on “God is the Lord,” chants are sung, the Gospel and, in some cases, the Apostle are read. After the Gospel, the priest pronounces a special (i.e., enhanced) litany, in which he lists the names of those present and their relatives, whose names are written in the notes. After the litany, prayers are read to those to whom the prayer service is addressed, dismissal is pronounced, the choir sings “Glorification” and all those present venerate the icon. A simple prayer service is the shortest.
The prayer service with the blessing of water differs from the usual one in that the rite of small blessing of water is added to the usual prayers. It is called “small” in contrast to the “Great Blessing of Water”, which occurs only twice a year: on Epiphany Eve and on the feast of the Epiphany.
If you order a prayer service with blessing of water, be sure to take with you a vessel with water for blessing. For this purpose, it is better to take a jar, can or bottle with a wide neck. According to the rite of blessing of water, the priest must immerse the Cross in a vessel with water, and with a narrow neck this is practically impossible to do. You can drink water from the prayer service throughout the day, add it to food, sprinkle it on your living quarters, and wash your face.
A prayer service with an akathist is an ordinary or water-blessed prayer service, to which is added the reading of an akathist to the Lord God, the Mother of God, angels or saints. It is served on patronal feast days, in front of especially revered icons and relics, or when there is a need to specifically pray for something.
