They are called Godfathers, because in the flesh they have a family connection with Christ, which means they are involved in His birth. Since ancient times they have been prayed for for the gift of children, family happiness and well-being.

How to read an akathist about the gift of children

Many are interested in how to pray to the righteous saints Joachim and Anna for the gift of children. It must be remembered that akathist, translated from ancient Greek, means “non-saddle singing,” so the song of praise should be read while standing.
