Miracles that happened during the life of Matrona of Moscow

Matrona Dmitrievna Nikonova was born in 1881 in the Tula province. People learned about her amazing abilities when the girl was about eight years old. One of the first miracles was a prediction: on the eve of the fire that engulfed her native village of Sebino, Matronushka warned her mother about this, adding that the fire would pass their house.

A noteworthy incident is described in the life of the saint:

One day, a relative of a paralyzed man from a neighboring village approached Matrona with a request to help him heal. The blessed one asked him to tell him to come to her in the best way he could - “at least crawling.” The patient, who believed in the righteousness of the prayer book, fulfilled the order, and made the four-kilometer return journey on his own feet. Seeing the girl’s righteousness and mercy, fellow villagers and residents of surrounding villages turned to her in a variety of needs: illness, help in everyday affairs.

Having become an adult, Matrona Dmitrievna moved to the capital. Here Muscovites soon learned about her amazing gift, and again people began to come to her for support. She predicted the most important events that occurred in the future: the widespread destruction of churches and persecution of believers, victory in the Great Patriotic War, the overthrow of Stalin and the end of political repression. Surprisingly, she foresaw that in a few decades, unrest and disorder in society would begin, but the church would be revived, and prayers and memorial services for the murdered Emperor Nicholas II would begin on Red Square. At that time, these words seemed incredible, but life confirmed their truth.

An amazing story about the birth of a daughter

Matrona helped again. Christina did not ask for an acquittal; she lit a candle with the thoughts: “Do what is best for the family.” In May 2016, Yuri was found guilty and sent to a penal colony in Kalmykia for 4 years.

“If he had continued to drink, we would have divorced,” says Christina. – Now Yurka seems to have woken up. He asks for forgiveness, promises that he will not drink. In the colony he became a baker! When he gets released, maybe we’ll open a mini-bakery.”

Despite the fact that the blessed old woman has long been canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church, myths and legends are still being formed around her name, often far from the truth - some see in her almost a sorceress. However, during her lifetime, Matrona Dmitrievna herself always emphasized that it was not she who healed and helped people, but only God. With her life, she set an example of indestructible patience and humility, love and forgiveness, non-covetousness and mercy - the life of the blessed one contains a story about how she helped save her burnt wife to an NKVD officer who came to arrest her.

Hieromonk Silouan (Mezhinsky): “One of her (Matrona of Moscow) most important lessons, which we would be content with all our lives, is that we should be able to forgive sinners and not condemn people <...> to do good not only by who does good to us, not only to those who look like righteous people, but also to those who don’t look like one.”

Sometimes people turning to Saint Matrona do not receive their request fulfilled, however, this does not mean that God did not hear the prayer. It happens that a cross placed on a person in the form of life circumstances is necessary for him to save his soul. After all, Matrona herself was neither healthy nor rich, did not have a husband or children, but humbly bore the hardships of life.

“Dry roses gave fresh sprouts” Hello, brothers and sisters, I want to tell a story about a miracle. My mother gave it to me. In 2012, a particle of the relics of the blessed Matrona of Moscow was brought to us in Krasnoyarsk. People stood in line for several hours to venerate the relics. It was in this line that my mother heard this story from a nurse at the oncology clinic. This nurse has long revered Blessed Matronushka, prays to her, and has visited her shrine in Moscow several times in the Intercession Monastery. In their dispensary, a young woman lay in serious condition, she was dying, and she was left with two small children. This nurse felt sorry for her. At this time, she managed to go to Moscow, where she was able to bow to the blessed Matrona and pray for this woman. On the train (it took four days to get to us) a miracle had already happened - these dry roses sprouted fresh sprouts. And when she arrived and gave them to the sick woman, she was healed. “Within a few minutes, the pain completely disappeared.” Quite recently, Matronushka helped me: a relative went on a pilgrimage to Mother Matronushka and brought us butter as a gift.
