Moscow Church in the name of the Blessed Matrona of Moscow in Tyoply Stan
Moscow diocese
There has long been a spring on the site of the future temple. Tradition says that at one time St. Sergius was going to build a monastery next to it, but he had a revelation that later it would be very crowded and the place would become unsuitable for monastic work. The saint moved to another place, but the spring retained the name “Sergievsky”. Pilgrims walking along the Old Kaluga Road from the southwest of the country to the Trinity-Sergius Lavra stopped at the spring to recuperate with healing water. Local residents continued to clear and improve the area around the source during the Soviet years.
In the 1980s, local authorities wanted to fill up the spring, level the ravine and build a parking lot. Residents of the area began to watch at night and ensure that construction equipment did not pass through. The confrontation lasted quite a long time. In 1990, local residents began building a brick chapel over the spring according to the design of the spring caretaker A.I. Starostin. On June 9, 1991, on the feast of All Saints who shone in the Russian land, the chapel was solemnly consecrated in the name of St. Sergius of Radonezh. Almost all local residents came to this holiday. The chapel was one of the first built in the capital after the October revolution.
Then local Orthodox Christians began to try to build a temple in honor of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God next to the holy spring. In the densely populated neighborhood at that time there were very few churches, and all of them were overcrowded. More than three thousand signatures were collected in support of the construction. Joining the “200 Temples” temple-building program helped the community get the construction problem off the ground. Since 2011, community services have been held in a metal pavilion on which a dome with a cross was placed. In the fall of 2014, a wooden temporary church was founded, and in 2015, erected in the name of the Blessed Matrona of Moscow. The temple with a capacity of up to 200 people was built by architects S. G. Goncharov and D. V. Rodionova.
Temple of the Blessed Matrona of Moscow in Konkovo reviews
Not a temple of the Lord, but a “priests’ dacha with a plot on which there is a greenhouse, a bathhouse, and a dovecote.
The spiritual atmosphere in the temple! Grace on the Great Holiday! Christ is Risen!
A blessed place, a good choir, there is a monastery kitchen at the temple
Holy place. It’s very quiet and peace of mind when you come here
Matrona of Moscow is a blessed old woman, revered not only by residents of the capital, but also by many Orthodox Christians who ask her for help in healing illnesses, saving families, and solving life’s difficulties. Even during her lifetime, Mother Matrona was very kind, sympathetic, and tried to support and heal as many people as possible; After her death, the old woman continues to help believers. It is not surprising that, as part of the Moscow program for the construction of churches, they decided to dedicate one of them specifically to Matrona.
History of the church
- The community in Dmitrovskoye, where the church stands, arose in 2007 , the decision to build a temple was made in 2012, and a temporary church was built a few months later.
- Work on the construction of the main temple began at the end of November 2014 , and three months later the lower church in the name of John of Kronstadt was completed. By April, the interior decoration of the lower church was completed, as well as external work in the upper church, belfry and parish house.
- At the moment, the church is operational , but decoration and communications are still ongoing.

Pokrovsky Convent of the Holy Matrona of Moscow
Among pilgrims, the Pokrovsky Convent of the Holy Matrona of Moscow is quite a favorite place to visit. When I was in Moscow for the first time, I also wanted to go there, but at that time no one on the Internet said in detail how to get there.
Address of the Intercession Monastery st. Taganskaya 58
And so the most convenient way to get there, especially in Moscow, is the metro. You will be interested in two stations
- Marxist
- Taganskaya
Why am I bringing both stations, since they are very close, and sometimes it happens that the exit to the city at one of them may be closed due to repairs.
From Taganskaya station
Let's consider the path from the Taganskaya metro station, it is located a little further from the Matrona Monastery, but its advantage is that it is located on the ring, which is easier to get to.
And so you leave the Taganskaya metro station and immediately turn right. There will be an avenue in front of you, 10 meters from the metro you need to cross several pedestrian crossings towards McDonald's, which will be on your left.
We go forward and you go out onto Taganskaya Street, which is what we need.
And here’s what Taganskaya station looks like from a distance.
From Marxistskaya station
The Marxistskaya station is closer, since when you leave it you immediately go out onto Taganskaya Street. So.
Coming out of the metro station, you find yourself in an underground passage, turn left and go up. Coming out of the metro, you will see the landmark Tagansky Passage on your right, and McDonald’s opposite the metro station.
Coming out of the metro, go to the right, so that Tagansky Passage is on your left.
Also at the stop you can see barkers who offer you to get to the Pokrovsky Convent of the Holy Matrona, do not sit down with them, since there are only 3 stops and it is better to take them by public transport, using the same card as on the metro, you will get cheaper, since these hucksters will cost 80 rubles.
After walking a little more than a kilometer, you will see the red walls of the monastery on your right.
On the walls you can see the image of Saint Matrona
Entering the first gate you will see a sign with the address of the Pokrovsky Monastery, Taganskaya 58.

Anyone who decides to visit the Church of the Matrona of Moscow should pay attention to the iconostasis of the lower church, consecrated in the name of John of Kronstadt . Beautiful handwritten icons are presented here. There are only four of them so far, but the number is gradually increasing.
The temple actively conducts educational work and hosts various events. Here they will tell both about the life of Blessed Matrona and about the history of the construction of this church.

Inside the Pokrovsky monastery of the Moscow matron
And so we enter the territory of the monastery and in front of you there will be a beautiful yellow temple.
On the left you will see a small chapel with the image of Matrona, with stands of her history. You can also buy a bottle of holy water here.
On the right you will see a huge queue to the icon, from which they ask for help about infertility. There is a huge amount of evidence of the miraculous help of Matrona, who helped the needy and desperate to find a baby, helped so that the birth went smoothly and the child was born healthy.
On the right side you will see a small white building where you can get holy water.
This is what the water supply faucets look like.
walking forward you will see a huge cross, usually the queue to the relics of Matrona is far behind this cross, but in winter there are fewer people.
This is what the main entrance to the Matrona Temple looks like
There is a queue to the relics on the right side of the temple
We go downstairs to the temple, in front of you there will be a beautiful shrine with silver-colored relics, I didn’t photograph it, I’m thinking about something else.
And I couldn’t help but take a photo inside the temple to roughly show its beauty. I advise you to pray there at the icons of Unexpected Joy with the Mother of God, for the health of children and requests for children. There are many different parts of saints and holy places in the temple.
I think you now know how to get to the Matrona Monastery in Moscow.
