Patron of human requests
Archangel Selafiel, who, due to the peculiarities of the translation, is also called Salafiel, occupies a special place in Christianity. Translated from Hebrew, this name means “God’s prayer book,” “prayer to God,” “encouragement to prayer.” This angel is considered God’s prayer book, who vigilantly asks God to grant humanity spiritual and physical salvation, and to save us from disease.
Angel Salafiel patronizes all those praying, listens to their words and passes them on to God. This spirit is given the opportunity to read in human hearts and see which of those praying have earned grace and who has not yet passed the tests allotted to them. He also silently reminds people of the need to communicate with God. It is thanks to Salafiel that even unbelievers sometimes feel the need to pray.
This name is not mentioned in the Bible and Gospel. Only the non-canonical Third Book of Ezrida names Selaphiel as the leader of the people.
There is an assumption that it was this angel who appeared to Hagar when she was praying in the desert and reported that her prayers had been heard. Wikipedia, in particular, reports this. But the official church does not agree with this interpretation of biblical events.
The monk Amadeus of Portugal mentioned Selafiel in his revelations in the 15th century. Since then, the patron saint of worshipers has been revered in both Catholicism and Orthodoxy. In the same way, the cults of other angels appeared: Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Jehudiel, Barachiel and Uriel.
A significant role in the history of the veneration of archangels was played by Dmitry of Rostov, who recorded data about them in the Lives of the Saints. Thanks to this recording, winged messengers became known in the Orthodox tradition.
Saint Innocent of Kherson wrote that Selafiel, together with Chamuel, leads an army of angels of love. This army teaches people to honor God and turn to him.
All winged messengers and ethereal heavenly forces are honored on November 21st. Prayer to Archangel Selathiel is most effective on Friday.
Holy image
The name of the Archangel Selaphiel was mentioned back in the 15th century in the revelations of Amadeus of Portugal. There is an opinion that it was then that this angel became revered. At the same time, thanks to Amadeo of Portugal, other supreme angels became known to Orthodoxy: Michael, Jehudiel, Raphael, Uriel, Barachiel and Gabriel.
Dimitry of Rostov also played a big role in transferring all of Amadeo’s notes into the Lives of the Saints. Innocent of Kherson also wrote about the archangel, he called him the leader of the prayer angels. In Catholicism there is no veneration for these archangels.
The icon of the Archangel Selaphiel is very interesting and unique. In the image, everyone can see the messenger, who tilted his head slightly down and holds his hands as if he were talking to the Lord God. This face speaks of how every person needs to pray.
It is precisely this position in which the archangel is located that is ideal for turning to the holy Heavenly Powers. It is customary to give this icon to children or those who have not yet found themselves in life. This face is capable of developing a person spiritually, strengthening faith in God and his help.
What does Archangel Salafiel help with?
This celestial being has the power to teach every person to honor the Lord, develop their spirituality, and live a righteous life. Someone who does not know how to pray at all can ask a good spirit for help. The angel will help you find your own path to God, avoid mistakes, and not get confused in various spiritual practices and religious directions. You can ask him any questions regarding the glorification of the Almighty and appeals to him.
Selafiel is often approached with requests for health. An angel can teach you how to say healing prayers. Therefore, esotericism considers him the patron of healers, to whom a white magician can turn. But the celestial inhabitant responds only to the requests of people whose thoughts are pure.
Archangel Salafiel will also help guide your loved ones to the true path. To do this, you can contact him in your own words, ask for guidance for lost souls, and help in their salvation. It is better to pray to the celestial being regularly: Friday is considered the ideal day for this, but it is also possible on other days. If you start the morning with prayer, your soul will receive a charge of grace and peace for the whole day.

According to the belief of the Church, the holy Archangel Selaphiel also appeared to Hagar in the desert of Bathsheba, when Abraham expelled her. In the book of Genesis it is narrated as follows: “Abraham rose early in the morning, and took bread and a bottle of water, and gave it to Hagar, placing it on her shoulders, and to the lad, and sent her away.
She went and got lost in the wilderness of Beersheba; and there was no water in the skin, and she left the boy under one bush and went and sat down at a distance, one shot from a bow. For she said: I don’t want to see the boy die. And she sat down at a distance opposite him, and raised a cry and wept; and God heard the voice of the lad from where he was;

Tuesday Prayer - Prayer to Archangel Gabriel
The messenger of God, Michael, patronizes the second day of the week - Tuesday. He has power over the natural elements. He reflects the power of God, is the servant of all the miracles performed by the Lord and guards paradise.
The prayer to him on Tuesday is as follows:
“Holy Archangel Gabriel, you are the one who brought joyful news from Heaven to the Virgin Mary about the immaculate conception and the future birth of the Son of God. I ask you to fill my heart with joy, and with your power, drive away sorrows and sorrows from me. I earnestly pray to you to guide me to repentance of my sins, strengthen my soul and protect me from temptations and enticements. Do not refuse me my request, grant your intercession before God at the hour of the Last Judgment. Amen".
In general, a guardian angel is simply a friend given to us by God. This is what they do to people
• Protect people from various dangers that threaten their lives. • Keeping those who trust in the Lord safe from evil. • Protect us while we sleep. • They take a special part in saving a person’s soul. • They also take care of a person’s physical health. • Take care of people's food. • Strengthen the spirit of suffering people. • They do not leave a person at the hour of his death.
Many people have seen their guardian angels, and many do not even believe in their existence. Let’s leave it to everyone’s conscience; it’s everyone’s personal choice to believe or not to believe. The nature of angels is completely incomprehensible to our earthly mind. Sometimes angels take on a human form so that a person can believe in their existence, but, as a rule, they are always incorporeal, although they are visible. Someone remembers how he was pulled out from under the wreckage of a car by someone’s gentle hands, like wings, someone saw a gentle, beautiful face above him when he lay in a feverish delirium on the edge of life and death. If we do not see guardian angels, this does not mean that they do not exist. Most often, the Lord's help is given through angels spiritually, through thoughts and feelings. They help us keep our souls pure. Unfortunately, they do not succeed with all people. How to talk to your guardian angel, how to turn to him? Very simple.
Biblical references[edit]
The archangel Selaphiel appears in verse 31:6 of the apocryphal Jewish and Christian text The Conflict of Adam and Eve
which describes how God sends him and Suriyel to help save Adam and Eve from Satan's deception, commanding the archangel Selaphiel "to knock them out to the top of a high mountain and take them to the Cave of Treasures."
Some Christian traditions consider the archangel selaphi or the angel in Revelation 8:3-4 in the New Testament, which represents the prayers of people on earth to God in heaven: “Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer with the prayers of all God's people on the golden altar before the throne. The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of God's people, rose before God from the hand of the angel."
Iconography
In icon painting, standards for depicting angels are accepted. Angels are incorporeal beings. The angelic face is a set of symbols. For example, wings represent speed and ease of penetration. All angels are depicted as handsome young men, symbolizing perfection. People saw the heavenly creatures as beautiful, dressed in white robes, radiating the radiance of youth.
In the icon, Selafiel is always in a prayer position: his head and eyes are lowered, his arms are crossed on his chest.
What are they asking him for?
With a prayerful appeal to the head of the Heavenly Prayer Book, believers receive support in spiritual development related to the Orthodox faith. After communion with the holy face, inspiration descends on people when they read prayers to the Lord. The problems of life recede. A person can take a break from everyday life and focus on sincere prayer coming from the soul.
Selaphiel, as a mediator between Christians and God, is invited to pray before the throne of the Lord for health and longevity.
