Psalms for canonical services

There are also psalms for all occasions in the religious sphere. Thus, a believer reading a prayer at divine services is instructed to read:

At Matins - Psalms 19-20.
Before the canon is Psalm 50.
With six psalms - 3, 37, 62, 87, 102, 142.
Vespers - 1, 103, 116, 129, 140, 141 and 33 during Great Lent.
Compline – 4, 6, 12, 69, 90, 142.
Sings of praise - from 148 to 150.

On major holidays, along with songs of praise, the polyeleos are read - Psalms 134, 135.

By hour:

1st hour of worship – 5, 89, 100;
3rd hour – 16, 24, 50;
6th hour – 53, 54, 90;
9th hour – from 83 to 85.

Psalms 102 and 145 are assigned to the Liturgy.

Communion (before it) – 22, 33, 115;
Burial – 118.

For the week:

Sunday – point 23.
Monday – point 47.
Wednesday – point 93rd.
Friday - point 92.
Saturday – point 91.

The canonical text of each psalmody contains the Psalter, where the prayers are written in the Old Church language.

But this does not mean that if you pronounce your requests to the Father in modern language, they will be incorrect.

The main condition when reading in any language is to do everything from the heart.

Which psalms to read in which cases

All psalms teach the right life before the Almighty. Their total number is 150 pieces. To read all the texts for a month, you need to say at least 15 texts a day. All of them are used depending on the life situation. If we consider which psalms to read every day, we should highlight the following:

Monday – 47. It must be said at least 9 times. If this recommendation is followed, then a Christian will be able to overcome all his enemies.
Tuesday - The clergy claim that when reading this text 5 times, the believer will always be under the protection of the Almighty.
Wednesday – 93. It also serves as protection from ill-wishers. You need to read it at least 12 times.
Thursday – 50. This day is considered the day of cleansing. And Psalm 50 is read to show submission and repentance before the Almighty.
Friday – 40. Helps to improve the financial sphere of life and live without debt.
Saturday – 148. It gives a person spiritual strength.
Sunday - 23. If the text is said 6 times, then all things will be successful.

Reading Christian psalms is an integral part of the prayer rule of any believer. The Psalter is a unique book that contains the prayer experience of many generations, because it is already about three thousand years old. Many saints wrote about which psalm to read when, but the teaching of the Venerable Elder Arsenius of Cappadocia is more widespread than others - it is precisely this that Orthodox Christians prefer to use.

On what occasions should we read the psalms?

Arseny of Cappadocia lived in Asia Minor at the end of the 19th – beginning of the 20th centuries, and was a famous holy ascetic, healer and visionary elder of his time. Arseny considered the reading of the psalms to be the basis of the prayer rule and tried to instill a love for the Psalter in all his spiritual children. When they asked him which psalm to read when, he recommended the following (ordinal number - psalm number):

Analysis

The poem, written in the ABAB Template, aims to inspire its readers to live actively, rather than mourn the past or take the future for granted.[1] The didactic message is emphasized by energetic meter chorea and frequent exclamations.[8] In response to a reader's question about the poem in 1879, Longfellow himself summarized that the poem was "a record of my thoughts and feelings at the time I wrote, and the conviction expressed therein that Life is more than an idle dream."[ 12]Richard Henry Stoddard called the theme of the poem "a lesson in endurance."[13]

Longfellow wrote A Psalm of Life at the beginning of a period in which he developed an interest in Judaic studies that was particularly strong in the 1840s and 1850s. In particular, Longfellow studied American versions or American responses to Jewish stories. Most notable in this genre is the poet's "Newport Jewish Cemetery", inspired by Touro Cemetery in Newport, Rhode Island.[14]

Further, the influence of Goethe was noticeable. In 1854, an English acquaintance suggested that the Psalm of Life was simply a translation. Longfellow denied this, but admitted that he may have drawn inspiration from him when he wrote “in the beginning of my poetic life, when a thousand songs rang in my ears; and, undoubtedly, there will be many echoes and suggestions in them. the fact goes beyond what it is worth."[15]

Rules for working with psalms

In order to begin magical work, prepare yourself for this action. Your bodies (physical, astral, mental, etc.) are in a polluted state.

Every day we attract the energies of other people and events, and through personal negative thoughts we “dirty” our bodies. Therefore, to work with high vibrational texts, it would be correct to undergo a cleansing procedure.

Fill a bath of water, large enough so that you can immerse yourself with the top of your head. Dissolve sea salt (1/2 pack) and ask Mother Water to cleanse you of... Speak in your own words and then dive underwater.

Repeat the request and dive three times, then thank the elements for the help provided. The reading of the psalms is carried out in a calm, quiet environment, it is advisable that there is no one at home and you are not distracted by extraneous noises (turn off your mobile phone, home phones, send animals for a walk with the children).

If relatives are understanding and support your actions, they can stay in the apartment, but they should not come to you and not make noise while work is in progress.

Reading psalms can be done with a burning candle, this will give you greater concentration and put you in a magical mood. It is forbidden to incline words or change their places; the text is pronounced only as it is written.

It is necessary to repeat the reading of each psalm in a certain number - 9, 40, 120 times. To avoid getting confused and distracted by counting approaches, use a rosary.

Rosaries can be purchased or made yourself from natural materials (stone, wood). Read until the problem is resolved. If the situation is very complex, it will take at least 40 days to resolve it.

When working with sacred texts (they can be compared to mantras), there is no need to call on any forces to help. That is, the process is completely environmentally friendly, and you do not come into contact with the energies of other forces and beings.

In whose translation should we read the Psalter?

It is recommended to begin reading the Psalter with the Russian translation. The book must have accents. If an unfamiliar word appears in the text, you should find out its meaning so that the reading of the psalms will be meaningful.

The translation of the Psalter into Russian by Pavel Yungerov is considered the best.

Before reading the Psalter, it is advisable to familiarize yourself with its interpretation. Otherwise, some words or even entire psalms may be misunderstood. The most famous interpretations of the psalms are from John Chrysostom and Alexander Lopukhin.

For those who want to learn to read and understand the Psalter in Church Slavonic, there are books with parallel translations. On each double-page spread there is a text in Church Slavonic on the left, and a translation into modern Russian on the right.
