Description and power of prayer
Many Christians do not fully understand the concept of the Holy Trinity, and therefore the prayer book seems to them not fully amenable to interpretation. In Orthodox theology, the Holy Trinity is presented as something not fused, but not separable, that is, not a single essence, but not three different creatures.
Such an explanation, of course, is not entirely amenable to logical laws, but nevertheless it does exist. Many Christians compare the Holy Trinity to the sun: you can’t touch it, but you can feel the warmth and be immersed in the light.
According to legend, the Holy Trinity appeared when people were being baptized in the Jordanian waters. She represented Jesus, who expressed his desire to come down to earth. At the same time, the Lord from heaven declared Jesus to be the Son of God, and the dove was the Holy Spirit.
On the day of the Holy Trinity, all Orthodox Christians celebrating this holiday, as a rule, say the appropriate prayer. They contact us because they are looking for help in the following issues:
- choosing the true path. Prayers ask that they encounter fewer difficulties in life;
- fulfillment of a cherished desire. If your thoughts are absolutely pure, and your desire does not in any way contradict God’s laws, you can also turn to the Holy Trinity with a similar request;
- the need to cope with life's hardships. It is recommended to cry out in prayer even if you are experiencing difficult moments in your life. This prayer helps to strengthen your faith and spirit even in the most difficult periods of life;
- the desire to cleanse yourself of sins and negative influences. Repenting and asking for forgiveness for sins committed is also allowed on the day of the Most Holy Trinity.
In order for this religious text to be effective, it is advisable to stand in front of an icon with the image of the Trinity. It is important to hold a lit candle in your hand. Many Orthodox Christians prefer to pray for the fulfillment of their innermost desires on this bright holiday. However, it is advisable to focus not on material wealth. It is recommended to call upon the saints in prayer, thinking about spiritual benefits. You can ask for the support of a loved one or for the fulfillment of cherished goals.
On the day of the Most Holy Trinity, many parents recite such a religious text to protect their children from unkind people on the path of life, making wrong decisions or other difficulties. The more sincere love and faith you put into your prayer words, the stronger your request will be.
This prayer can also be used to ask for a speedy recovery. In this case, it is recommended to recite the religious text twice a day (morning and evening).
Some Orthodox Christians recite a prayer on clean water, which they then give to the sick person to drink. This method is considered no less effective than a prayer said at the head of a sick person’s bed.
Feel free to contact the Holy Trinity with this religious text, and help will come even in the most difficult moment. The main thing is to put faith and the best thoughts into this verbal creation.
Morning rule - what is it?
A full Christian life is inextricably linked with prayer - communication, dialogue between man and God. Through prayer we can offer praise to the Almighty, express our requests, thanksgiving, and repentance. By praying, including by fulfilling the morning rule, we show God our love and trust, our desire to draw closer to Him. God always meets a sincere appeal and bestows His grace on those who pray.
In the book “Invisible Warfare” you can find the instructive words of St. John Chrysostom about the meaning of prayer:
“When we remain in prayer, the power and authority of the evil one does not act on us; when we stop praying, the enemy overcomes us.”
Fulfilling the commandment of unceasing prayer is the ideal to which every Christian should strive. The gift of unceasing prayer is given only to ascetics; it is unattainable for most believers. But there is a certain prayer minimum that allows every Orthodox Christian to maintain “spiritual form.” These are the morning and evening prayer rules.
Morning prayer
Why read morning prayers
The morning prayer rule for the laity includes various appeals to God, the Mother of God, and the Most Holy Trinity. We thank them for their mercy and patience, asking for help in order to live the coming day sinlessly and fulfill the will of the Almighty. In the 50th Psalm we express our repentance before God, hope for forgiveness and finding joy. The morning rule also contains the Creed - a brief statement of the fundamentals of Christian doctrine. The rule also includes a prayer to the saint whose name the person praying bears, a prayer to the Guardian Angel, as well as remembrance of the living and the dead.
Saint Ignatius (Brianchaninov) in his work “Teaching on the Rule of Prayer” says that daily prayer helps the soul to take the path of salvation and worship of God. She gives the Christian humility and repentance. Priest Valery Dukhanin in the article “What is the main thing in the prayer rule?” indicates that the rules were compiled by the righteous, which means that these texts contain all those feelings and thoughts that help the person praying to bring his soul closer to God. Reading morning prayers disciplines a believer and helps him tune in to the right rhythm of Christian life.
Prayers to the Most Holy Trinity
Prayer to make a wish come true
Most Holy Trinity of Heaven throughout the ages, have mercy on us sinners. Lord, cleanse our souls from sins and foul language, forgive us the iniquities we commit, and guide us with the light of God on the righteous and sinless path. We pray for Your forgiveness and mercy, Thrice One Ruler and Ruler of our souls. Amen.
Prayer to protect children from bad friends, bad decisions and illnesses
In the name of the Father God, the Son and the Holy Spirit, we pray for forgiveness and mercy on this bright and festive day. Three times our only heavenly Father, we offer words of joy on this holiday, we are in Your house and bow to the images in the hope of instruction and deliverance from illnesses and sins that burden our souls.
We proclaim the true faith and convey from mouth to mouth words of gratitude for our lives in Thy goodness and mercy. We pray for everyone living on earth, living under Your gaze. Bless, Lord, a righteous life in mercy and goodness. Grant us, God, to live it in reverence for You and in raising children according to Your indisputable and only righteous covenants. Amen.
Prayer for healing from illnesses
To the Most Holy Trinity, the Consubstantial Power, all the good Wines that we will reward You for everything that You have rewarded us sinners and unworthy before, before you came into the world, for everything that You have rewarded us every day, and that You have prepared for all of us in the world to come ! It is fitting, then, for so much good deeds and generosity, to thank Thee not just in words, but more than in deeds, for keeping and fulfilling Thy commandments: but we, being aware of our passions and evil customs, have cast ourselves into countless sins and iniquities from our youth.
For this reason, as unclean and defiled, do not just appear before Your Trisholy face without coldness, but below Your Most Holy Name, speak to us, even if You Yourself had deigned, for our joy, to proclaim that the pure and righteous are loving, and sinners who repent are merciful and kindly accept. Look down, O Divine Trinity, from the height of Your Holy Glory upon us, many sinners, and accept our good will, instead of good deeds; and give us the spirit of true repentance, so that, having hated every sin, in purity and truth, we may live until the end of our days, doing Your most holy will and glorifying Your sweetest and most magnificent name with pure thoughts and good deeds. Amen.
Prayer “Holy Trinity have mercy on us”
Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us; Lord, cleanse our sins; Master, forgive our iniquities; Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Thy name's sake. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages.

The importance of the holiday of the almighty and life-giving Trinity. Interpretation
Trinity is a term that means the threeness of God. The Almighty appears in three Persons:
- God the Father (has no beginning and end, which means: the Most High is not born of anyone);
- God the Son is born of the Most High;
- The third is God the Holy Spirit (comes from the Father of the Lord).
It is written that all three are united by the name of the Almighty, exist in him and are triune. But they do not represent separate individuals, and therefore it is unacceptable to address the Lord as “you” when reading prayers, which can mean polytheism. The Heavenly Father is always one, but appears in different forms.
It is difficult for an uninitiated person to understand the meaning of what has been said, but one can approach understanding through the image: “Just as fire and the light coming from it cannot be separated (not before - fire or light, but fire and light together), and how light appears together with fire, never separates, so the Son is born from the Most High Father” (John of Damascus). The same can be said about the Holy Spirit - it is inseparable from the Lord. It is this unity that is celebrated at Pentecost - the former name of the Trinity. This date falls on the 50th day of Easter - the Ascension of the Lord.
In Orthodoxy, the holiday has a different name -
The Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles.
It is interesting that, despite the trinity, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are depicted as separate images. But this should not give rise to thoughts about three Gods. Such iconography is symbolism, because the faces are equal in front of each other, but at the same time they are united. But, despite the mirror image of three faces (hypostases), they are shown in different attire. According to Orthodox teaching, such symbolism does not mean separation. This shows equality in expression of will, omnipotent action, and power. Neither of the hypostases is subordinate to the other.
It is understood that God the Father is the source of the will of the Holy Trinity, the executor is God the Son, who acts with the participation of the Holy Spirit. Religious dogmas unite opposite meanings, but they seem so only at first glance - from the point of view of human perception. For this reason it is said that the Trinity can only be understood with the help of God. Even for the highest holy entities (angels) this is an incomprehensible truth, and therefore one should not try to understand it with the mind, but should accept it with the heart as a given.
The concept of the Holy Trinity
in the Holy Scriptures has been formed for a long time.
The first mention of the trinity of the Lord appears in the Old Testament. And only in the New Testament does the full definition of the term appear. Moreover, in the Bible there is no direct indication of the trinity or mention of the Trinity. The following lines speak about the trinity of the Lord:
- “for three testify in heaven...”;
- “Go therefore and teach your nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”
The dogma of the Trinity was not revealed immediately. This was facilitated by Saint Justin the Philosopher. The holiday celebrates an important event. At the same time, the Holy Spirit descended on 12 disciples, this happened on the day of Pentecost. Then the disciples of Jesus were in the Upper Room of Zion, when suddenly there was thunder, as if from a strong wind. The whole room was filled with it, tongues appeared as if from a flame. They identified each of the apostles. So the disciples of Christ were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak allegorically. Then the people heard their outpourings in His language. Some thought that Jesus' disciples were drunk on sweet wine.
Then Peter exclaimed:
“...on both my maidservants and my male servants it will be poured out from my Spirit, that they may prophesy.”
John Chrysostom wrote that “This never happened to the prophets, only now to the disciples of Christ.” At the descent of the Holy Spirit, he showed the same power as God the Father and God the Son, which also indicates the trinity of the Most High. During the celebration of Trinity, according to church traditions, one of the most solemn services is performed. From now on, each time you turn to Our Father, you should first read the text “To the King of Heaven.”

Text of the prayer in Old Church Slavonic with emphasis
Most pure, undefiled, without beginning, invisible, incomprehensible, unsearchable, unfailing, invincible, innumerable, gentle Lord, who alone has immortality, in the living, unapproachable light, created and the heaven and the earth, and the sea, and everything created on them, before you ask, give petitions to everyone , We pray to You and ask You, Lord, Lover of Mankind, Father of the Lord and God and our Savior Jesus Christ, for us for the sake of men, and for our salvation, who came down from heaven and became incarnate from Du Hail the Holy One and the Ever-Virgin Mary, and the Most Glorious Mother of God, likewise first words teaching, and then showing deeds, when we have endured the saving passion, give us a signature, as Thy humble, and sinful, and unworthy servants, to bring prayers to You, on our knees and knees, for our sins, and about human ignorance.
Most merciful and most loving of mankind, hear us, even more often will we call on You on this fiftieth day, after the Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ into heaven, and the sitting of the God and Father at Your right hand , sent down the Holy Spirit on His holy disciples and apostles, and sat on one of them, and was filled with all His inexhaustible grace, and spoke in other tongues Your greatness, and prophesied.
Now, those who pray to You, hear us, and remember us, the humble and condemned, and return the captivity of our souls, having Your mercy prayed for us. Receive us, who fall before You and cry out: We have sinned; we have committed ourselves to You from the womb, from the womb of our mother, You are our God.
But as our days have disappeared in the vanity, we are exposed to Your help, deprived of any answer, but daring in Your bounty, we call: do not remember the sins of our youth and ignorance, and from that cleanse us of our new ones, and do not reject us in time of old age, when our strength becomes impoverished ours, do not leave us, before even we can return to the earth, give us grace to return to You, and grant us favor and grace.
Measure our iniquities with Your bounty, and set the abyss of Your bounty against the multitude of our sins.
Look down from Thy holy height, Lord, upon Thy people who are coming, and upon those who expect rich mercies from You.
Visit us with Your goodness, deliver us from the violence of the devil, establish our life with Your saints and sacred laws.
Angela, a faithful guardian for Your people, gather everyone into Your Kingdom.
Grant forgiveness to those who trust in You, forgive them and our sins.
Purify us through the action of Your Holy Spirit, destroying the wiles of the enemy against us.
