ABOUT

Since your adolescence, having loved Christ, the holy passion-bearer of Tsar Nicholas, you thought about the royal crown as about a heavy cross, but with your heart you strove for monastic life.
Moreover, knowing Your duty as the Heir to the throne and jealous of the power and prosperity of the Russian Empire, You accepted the kingdom as an obedience given by God, and You devoted all Your strength and aspirations to your native land. We, being grateful for such selfless service of Yours, cry out to You: Rejoice
, most honorable branch of the pious; Rejoice, imitator of the virtues of the great ancestors. Having the Lord God alone over you, you gave your heart to Him alone, God’s chosen King, and you were in the eyes of an apostate society, like a fool among the wise, disgracing, according to the word of the Apostle Paul, the wisdom of this age. By the same, strictly following the commandments of Christ and holding the helm of the Tsar’s power with a firm hand, you acquired great power and prosperity for the Russian people and all the peoples of Russia, strengthening the Orthodox Church everywhere and teaching everyone to sing to God: Alleluia!

Ikos 2

ABOUT

Wishing peace and prosperity to Your dearly beloved fatherland and to all the peoples of the earth, the great chosen one of God, Tsar Nicholas, you turned to the kings and rulers of all countries in the name of Christ, so that in agreement they would reduce the multitude of their deadly weapons, and may they put up a strong barrier to bloody wars.
The godless rulers, having rejected Your offer, showed their wickedness to everyone, showing You only as the only truly pious King and champion of peace. And we all, marveling at Your glorious deeds, cry out to You with tenderness: Rejoice
, glorious peacemaker; Rejoice, God-bright star for kings and rulers. Rejoice, barrier to bloody wars; Rejoice, creator of the Orthodox Fatherland. Rejoice, Nicholas, God's chosen King and great passion-bearer!

Kontakion 3

AND

a true lover of Christ and the Orthodox Church throughout the world, a caring trustee, God’s chosen Tsar Nicholas, you laid a reliable foundation for the Kingdom of Russia, relying on the prayers of holy saints more than the human mind and demonstrating the highest wisdom of the faith of Christ against the blindness of an unfaithful mind. From other of Your subjects, instead of gratitude and faithful service, You were hurt by slander and insults. Remembering the word of God: “Vengeance is mine, I will repay,” you endured all complacently, laying their malice on the judgment of God, so that they would repent and sing to God who had been good to them: Hallelujah!

Ikos 3

The devil, the envious of men and the father of all lies, seeing the glory of Russia and Your unshakable piety, became furious with You, Tsar Nicholas, gathering apostates with lies, slander and deceit to fight against the Orthodox Kingdom.
The Lord, not wanting the death of sinners, for a short time allowed their iniquities, so that they would come to their senses. You raised up the faithful sons of the Russians to defeat the wicked, and soon peace and order in the country were restored until the time came, and all pious people would cry out to You: Rejoice
, quick victor of the daring rebels; Rejoice, lawless steadfast pacifier. Rejoice, quenching anger with mercy; Rejoice, conquer evil with patience and love. Rejoice, patient teacher of the seduced and deceived; Rejoice, merciful King, who will soon have mercy on those who repent! Rejoice, strong defender of autocracy; Rejoice, you who pray to God for the salvation of the Fatherland! Rejoice, Nicholas, God's chosen King and great passion-bearer!

Thy heart, O Christ-loving King, was filled with pure joy, whenever Thou spent little time with Thy Family, knowing neither the hypocrisy nor the deceit with which the unfaithful servants upset Thee.
But Your rampaging subjects have forgotten true piety and remain in spiritual blindness and passions, staining Your most honorable name with insane slander, not realizing that You are God’s Anointed One, and the Lord will punish them strictly for their infidelity. But You covered everything with love, and we, marveling at Your patience and mercy, cry out to You like this: Rejoice
, image of royal love and patience; Rejoice, you have cast all your sorrows on God. Rejoice, having overcome slander with meekness and silence; Rejoice, for Your love for those who slander You has not wavered. Through Your tireless labors and patient care, Tsar Nicholas, Holy Rus' was established during Your reign.
Our country has been adorned with many churches and monasteries of saints, and many saints of God have appeared to the Orthodox people. All this happened so that the holy, Christ-loving people would prepare for the fiery temptation that is coming to Russia, so that the fields of God and the vineyard of Christ would ripen for the bloody harvest. Thus we, the Holy King, cry out to You: Rejoice

Thy piety and faith, O Tsar Orthodox, are like an indestructible wall on the path of the wickedness of the Antichrist. Having realized that the power of the Tsar lies in his faithful servants, they began to defeat the Tsar’s servants with slander and all kinds of deceit: they deceived him with slander, killed him, and seduced him into godlessness. And so I will open up the foolish against the Anointed of God, so that in Rus' they would not sing to God: Alleluia!

A great test came to the Russian State, when the wicked attacked the Kingdom of Serbia, as if military warfare would break out among the nations.

Divine commander of the Russian army and navy, strengthened by prayer and ardent faith and the grace of God, the Russian Tsar appeared to everyone as a victorious strategist, skillfully defeating enemies everywhere and inspiring the Russian army to victory.
Meanwhile, the traitors raised their heels against Thee, secretly sowing confusion among the soldiers and among the people, choosing the lot of Judas, for they forgot, as befits the song of Thee: Rejoice
, Anointed One of God; Rejoice, Great Tsar. Rejoice, glory and affirmation to the Russian State; Rejoice, there is a strong barrier to all villainy. Rejoice, guardian of law and order; Rejoice, zealot for the good behavior of the people. Rejoice, guardian of the Russian army and navy; Rejoice, fulfiller of God's commands. And Holy Rus' and her people were tested like gold in a furnace, so that the sheep may be separated from the goats, the wheat from the tares, and may the work of everyone who sings to God be revealed: Hallelujah!

ABOUT

You were traitors and came to You, demanding a strange and unprecedented thing - abdication from the royal throne.
With this weapon I pierced your soul, O pious Tsar, and having learned their betrayal, I prayed a hundred and night, pouring out bitter resentment to God, and entrusting my Fatherland to the Most Holy Theotokos. And this prayer of Yours was like that of Gethsemane, and if the Lord made You wise, retreat, for the lips of the wicked may be stopped and they will be punished by their wickedness. We, having known Your suffering and feat, cry out to You: Rejoice
, for a lamb is blameless and speechless to its shearer; Rejoice, humbly replacing the royal crown with thorns. Rejoice, you who rebuked evil with kindness; Rejoice, having remained faithful to God even to the end. Rejoice, you who did not desire bloodshed; Rejoice, you who meekly endured bitter insult. The villainous murder of the Tsar's Family was conceived by the wicked, in order to put an end to Orthodox Russia, by placing bonds on Thee and the Queen of the Children, the righteous Tsar, and by God's permission, led by the path of Calvary, for God desires to exalt Thee and make Thy Family whiter than snow.
From these appeared your love and faith stronger than a diamond, and thus your righteousness arose more than the sun, as your guardians marveled. And the faithful one saw that heavy sorrow had come to Thee and Thy Family, Tsar Nicholas, and hurried to Thee: Rejoice
