This is the motive after the troparion “Christ is risen. "and "The Resurrection of Christ" is sung constantly at church services by Orthodox Christians together with the clergy. In the meantime, the Great One is coming. The last days are strict, and just before Easter there will be Holy Week, very strict. With gratitude and respect, - Galina.

Tatyana Falaleeva 2 03/23/2018 16:03:57 Review: positive I am amazed at the greatness of Christ. Sometimes my soul feels so strange and heavy. And if I turn to Him, what is called Darkness brightens around me. And I think about others: to whom, if not to the Lord, should a person who is tormented by his life turn? True, one must live by this name without stopping. Then the pain is moderated, and the goal is ahead, like a clear sun. He himself is our Sun.
Galina, THANK YOU. Your Tatyana.

We only rely on the Lord, Tanya! Exactly 10 years ago I wrote about the Lord, about how He is constantly in my soul (about the Jesus Prayer):
I always hold on to the Lord: I repeat my prayer, So that trouble does not creep in, I hold on to the Lord.
The Lord gave that prayer to Me deeply in my heart, and the Call to Him began to appear easily on my lips:
"Oh my God! Save, Christ! Jesus, Son of God! — That call has grown firmly into my soul and into my heart too.
I repeat to myself everywhere: “Jesus, Son of God! Save me! - I repeat lovingly. “You are not dearer to me!”
I always hold on to the Lord: I say that prayer, So that trouble does not creep up, - I thank you for everything.
I hug you, my dear, with tenderness. Guardian Angel! 02/20/2008
In Orthodoxy, prayer in honor of the resurrection of Christ is considered one of the most important. It does not contain a request, but was created to glorify Jesus, who, having experienced the death of the body, rose from the dead. The text of the prayer is solemnly sung at every Sunday all-night liturgy after the beginning of Easter.
The Importance of the Resurrection
The Resurrection of Christ is a very significant event for all Christian people. From the moment of this event, modern chronology begins. From the moment the apostles found the Holy Sepulcher empty, a new page in history began. By His resurrection, Christ showed people the miracle of eternal life.
When they say a prayer
Those who see the text of the prayer of the resurrection of Christ sing in churches at Easter services, on certain days and time periods. At home, you can also recite the text as a form of praise to the Lord.
How to read a prayer
The words of the prayer, contrary to expectations, are not read, but are sung to the tune of the sixth voice. This is a certain church chant; everyone who constantly participates in divine services knows it.
Rules for reading prayers on Sunday morning
The Orthodox Church does not establish strict requirements for Sunday prayer texts and rules of conduct in this regard. Holy Sunday comes, prayer opens the doors of grace and God's help.
Sunday prayer is a way to save the human soul
The prayer rule is read daily; churchgoers attend divine services every Sunday, listening to sermons there.
Morning prayers on Sunday can be read at home if it is not possible to go to church. The omnipresent Creator hears and sees the human heart always and everywhere.
Read about prayer rules:
- Prayer rule of Seraphim of Sarov
- Morning and evening prayers
- Evening prayer for the coming sleep
A day off on Sunday is a time of special temptations; prayer on this day is aimed at getting rid of unclean passions, the price of which is very high. The main Sunday prayer is “May God rise again,” also known as the “Prayer to the Honorable Cross of the Lord.”

It is believed that the words of the prayer appeared in the period from 335 to 614. At this time, the construction of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher was completed. Later, during the Persian invasion, the Cross was removed from it. In 603 it was returned, but a few years later it was taken out of the eternal city forever. What exact event is associated with the appearance of the chant, and who first uttered it is unknown.
Miracle of Resurrection
Jesus Christ suffered martyrdom on the cross for each of us and in our place. The sinful nature of man is not able to independently overcome the temptations of the world, therefore no one has any hope of gaining the kingdom of God. Since the time of Adam and Eve, every person who died was sent to hell for his sins, and only the death of Jesus on the cross corrected this sad situation.
The Savior was betrayed by his disciple Judas, as predicted in the Old Testament. He, as a criminal, was sent to a shameful execution by crucifixion. But Jesus knew about this in advance, so he warned the disciples not to be sad. He said that he would rise on the third day in a new body. Knowing this, the Roman rulers and Jewish high priests sent soldiers to guard the tomb of Christ.

According to Jewish traditions, the dead were buried not in the ground, but in special stone tombs. Pious Joseph, the secret disciple and follower of Jesus, allowed the body of Christ to be buried in his tomb. People faithful to Christ carefully washed the body of the deceased and wrapped him in shrouds and shrouds oiled with incense. The coffin was closed with a huge stone, and soldiers guarded the entrance day and night.
On the morning of the third day, pious women came to the tomb with incense and oils to complete the burial ritual. When the entrance to the tomb was cleared, it was empty. The body of Jesus was not in it. The women ran to the city to tell the good news about the resurrection of the Savior, because an angel notified them about this. The Apostle Paul writes about this event:
The Resurrection of the Savior brought the good news of the salvation of mankind. After his death, Jesus went down to hell, defeated the devil and was resurrected. He was resurrected by the power of the Holy Spirit, and this became irrefutable proof of his divine nature. The news of the miraculous resurrection spread across many cities, and the Savior repeatedly appeared to his disciples and faithful followers. One of the people of little faith named Thomas doubted the reality of the resurrection, but changed his mind when he put his own fingers into the wounds of the Savior.

Prayer text
Having seen the Resurrection of Christ, let us worship the Holy Lord Jesus, the only sinless one. We worship Your Cross, O Christ, and we sing and glorify Your holy Resurrection: for You are our God, do we know no other to You, we call Your name. Come, all you faithful, let us worship the Holy Resurrection of Christ: behold, through the Cross joy has come to the whole world. Always blessing the Lord, we sing His Resurrection: having endured the crucifixion, destroy death by death.
The chant is of ancient origin and has an analogue in the text of the Western liturgy of Good Friday: “ We worship Thy Cross, O Christ, and St. We praise and glorify Your resurrection, for through the Cross came joy to the whole world
" [3] Initially, the song belonged to the Easter service, but already in the Easter Jerusalem “Sequence” of the 9th century this song is given as a Sunday song after the reading of the Gospel. The chant is clearly of Jerusalem origin (“let us worship the Holy Resurrection of Christ” - a reference to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, frequent references to the Cross kept in the temple). [3]
The song “The Resurrection of Christ” is already mentioned in liturgical monuments of the Studio period. [4] However, in the oldest handwritten Studio Rules it is present as a hymn for Sunday Matins, but not after the Gospel reading (immediately after the reading, according to the Studio Rule, the prokeimenon is placed).
There are known author's works based on the text of the chant “Having seen the Resurrection of Christ...”: the everyday version of A. A. Arkhangelsky, the tune of P. G. Chesnokov, original compositions by A. L. Vedel, A. T. Grechaninov, S. V. Rachmaninov, P. I. Tchaikovsky and others. [4]
“Seeing the Resurrection of Christ” was processed in their own way by composers Rachmaninov and Chesnokov
The motif of the chant “Seeing the Resurrection of Christ” was played out by some Russian composers in their works.
Sergei Rachmaninov in the spiritual choral cycle “All-Night Vigil” uses many ancient church chants. Among them is “Seeing the Resurrection of Christ.”
The composer managed to achieve an expressive archaic sound. The finale is especially interesting and powerful when it sounds “Destroy Death to Death.” This is both a reminder of the suffering of Christ and a promise of salvation to the Orthodox, expressed in a musical climax.
Pavel Chesnokov also processed “Seeing the Resurrection of Christ.” But his version is based on the Kiev chant of this prayer.
Liturgical use
The chant “Having seen the Resurrection of Christ” is used during divine services: [4]
On Easter, Easter week and Sundays from Easter to Ascension, the song is sung three times. On other days - once. In addition, the chant is included in the rite of the Easter funeral service. [5]
In the Greek practice of the 16th century, the chant “Having seen the Resurrection of Christ...” was performed by the singing brethren. Arseny (Sukhanov) (XVII century) writes that in Greek churches the chant “ was spoken in both faces, divided by lines
" In modern Greek worship, “Having seen the Resurrection of Christ...” is read by the primate (the abbot or bishop standing in the choir) or the reader.
In modern liturgical practice of the Russian Orthodox Church, the chant “Having seen the Resurrection of Christ...” is usually performed by all believers in the 6th tone.
The chant reminds us of Christ’s suffering on the cross and encourages us not to be afraid of trials.
The chant “Beholding the Resurrection of Christ” is dedicated to the meeting of the two Marys and the apostles with the Risen Jesus Christ. This is one of the most emotionally powerful moments not only for the Savior’s disciples themselves, but also for any Orthodox Christian.
The meeting of the two Marys and the apostles with the Risen Jesus Christ. It is to this moment that the chant “I saw the Resurrection of Christ” is dedicated.
It is implied that until this moment the world was immersed in the gray colors of complete hopelessness. The Messiah was nailed to the cross, it's all over.
But then the news of His Resurrection spreads. The first to report to her were the women who visited the tomb, because they met the risen Christ:
Mf. 28:9–10
“When they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them and said: Rejoice! And they approached, grabbed His feet and worshiped Him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”
And later, eleven students see the Teacher:
Mf. 28:16–20
“The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had commanded them, 17 and when they saw Him, they worshiped Him, but others doubted. 18 And Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.” 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen".
But here's what's surprising. Instead of enthusiastic rejoicing, the song is more like something joyless. There is no triumph in it, and the central place is given not to the Resurrection, but to how the Savior died.
Death is an important theme in this little prayer: “death has crushed death.”
And it becomes clear that this chant does not at all reproduce the Gospel story, but calls for a different, spiritual vision of New Testament history.
A Christian does not need to deliberately seek out suffering and make a cult out of it.
There is a Christian call here not to be afraid of difficulties for the sake of good goals. The cross should not be perceived directly as an object of execution, but as an allegorical image. These are the trials that may need to be overcome in order to achieve a godly goal.
Gregory the Theologian
Archbishop of Constantinople, one of the Church Fathers
This is how Saint Gregory the Theologian writes about this:
“Let us accept everything for the sake of the Word, in our suffering we will imitate Passion, we will honor the Blood with our blood, we will willingly ascend to the cross. Nails are coveted, although very painful. For it is more desirable to suffer with Christ and for Christ than to enjoy with others.”
But at the same time, we must not forget what Professor A.I. Osipov always emphasizes:
Osipov Alexey Ilyich
Orthodox theologian, preacher, teacher, writer
“There is no need to make a cult out of suffering. A Christian comes into our world not to suffer. He simply should not be afraid of difficulties, but striving to find them is a vain aspiration that has nothing to do with Orthodoxy.”

About the chant
“Having seen the Resurrection of Christ” is sung by the whole world, that is, not only by the choir, but by all the parishioners. This happens on Saturday at the All-Night Vigil during the removal of the liturgical Gospel. The symbol of the resurrection of Christ, which is depicted on its front side, gives all Orthodox Christians the opportunity to understand the words of the prayer with soul and heart.
The prayer “Having seen the Resurrection of Christ” is a mandatory element of the Easter service and all solemn and everyday services during Easter week.
Often parishioners bring with them the text of the prayer in order to join the general choir at the right time. In many churches, the text of the prayer with emphasis is distributed in the candle shop to make the service even more complete and to give even those who are not completely churchgoers the opportunity to join the general jubilant choir on the night of the Resurrection.
Easter hours
This is a set of holiday prayers dedicated to the victory of our Lord Jesus Christ over death. The text of the prayer “Having seen the Resurrection of Christ” is dedicated to the Feast of the Exaltation, the finding of the Cross. It is read not only at Easter celebrations.
On all the great twelve holidays of the Church, Orthodox Christians will listen to the text of the prayer “Having seen the Resurrection of Christ.” Thus, little Easter is celebrated. This is the longest holiday in terms of time.
It is celebrated for 40 days. You can read a prayer not only on holidays. If your faith has been shaken, doubts are overwhelming, this prayer text will help you gain confidence.
With the first words, believers are affirmed that the risen Christ is among us. We are his faithful children who glorify the Name of their Lord, worshiping the triumph of eternal life.
The words of this prayer cleanse the soul of negative thoughts and help the heart focus on communication with God. In addition to the fact that prayer is the language in which communication with the heavenly (holy) world occurs, it is also an immersion in history.
From one small prayer text you can learn about a whole historical layer, the events of which remain relevant for 2000 years. This fact alone helps any person to think about the topic of God, faith, death, love and eternal life.
You may not know God, not have faith, not feel love, doubt about eternal life, but no one can escape death. It is a reality for every person who has given birth and a good reason for learning about spiritual life.
About the book “Having seen the Resurrection of Christ...”
Christianity is a religion of joy, but that joy to which there is only one path - through Golgotha, the joy that is born in the heart from co-crucifixion with Christ. The Lord wants us, united with Him in Baptism, to be partakers of His suffering, so that we can then be partakers of His glory. If you want this joy, even with a small ray, to illuminate your heart, to be a guarantee of the joy with which the righteous will rejoice when they shine like the sun in the Kingdom of their Heavenly Father (Matthew 13:43), then do not leave Christ the Giver of Life, follow Him, do His holy will. In His holy commandments are life, light, eternal joy. After all, He Himself said to His apostles: I will come to you... then I will see you, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you (John 14:28; 16:22). He Himself greeted everyone after His Resurrection with this all-joyful word: Rejoice (Matthew 28:9). Joy is a spark of grace in the heart; Share your Easter joy:

The icon of the “Resurrection of the Lord” is a holy image created to constantly remind Christians of the great sacrifice of Christ, the price of the blood He shed and the great grace bestowed at the same time.
The birth of Jesus Christ changed the course of human life, opening a new century, however, without the Resurrection of the Savior, this event would not have had such significance. On the bright holiday of Easter, the great Lord, God the Son, descended into hell and took the keys to heaven from Satan, so that everyone who believes in the Savior would have eternal life.
