Ayah 255 “Al-Kursi”, the name of which translated means “The Throne”, was revealed in Surah “Al-Baqarah”, the name of which is translated as “The Cow”. The word “kursi” in the title of the verse, that is, “throne,” is the personification of the power and absolute power of Allah Almighty over His creations.
Ayatul Kursi is the most famous verse from the Holy Book of the Quran. With the help of verse al-Kursi, you can protect your home and yourself from Satan. For any righteous Muslim, the merits and importance of this verse are obvious, because the names and attributes of Allah Almighty are often mentioned in it, and every righteous Muslim tries to recite this verse as often as possible at the appropriate time.
Ayat Al-Kursi translation of text and meanings
The translation of the text of verse al kursi from Surah Bakara in Russian sounds like this:
“Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Living, the Almighty. Neither drowsiness nor sleep takes possession of him. To Him belongs what is in heaven and what is on earth. Who will intercede before Him without His permission? He knows their future and past. They comprehend from His knowledge only what He wills. His Throne (Foot of the Throne) embraces heaven and earth, and His preservation of them does not burden Him. He is the Exalted, the Great ."
A Muslim must know the content and transcription of Ayat al Kursi As the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, this is the greatest of the Quranic verses, because it contains evidence of monotheism, as well as the greatness and infinity of the qualities of the Almighty Creator. Allah possesses all divine qualities and is the only One who deserves to be deified and worshiped, and therefore the deification of other beings is unfair and useless.
Alive is one of the beautiful names of Allah. It means that Allah combines in Himself the most beautiful signs of life, including hearing, vision, power, will and other qualities associated with His essence. Sustainer of life is another beautiful name of Allah. It means that He does the most perfect things.
He is the Self-sufficient Lord and does not need creatures, but creates them, maintains their existence and provides them with everything they need. The perfect life and self-sufficiency of Allah is manifested in the fact that He is never overcome by drowsiness or sleep. These phenomena are characteristic of creatures - they are characterized by fatigue, weakness and powerlessness. However, they are completely alien to Allah, who has greatness, power and splendor.
Allah said that He has power over the heavens and the earth. All creations are slaves of Allah, and none of them is able to get rid of this dependence. The Almighty said: “ Everyone who is in the heavens and on earth will appear to the Merciful only as a slave ” (19:93). Allah owns His slaves and has authority, power, greatness and other qualities of the Lord and Ruler. The perfection of His power is manifested in the fact that no one is able to intercede with Him without His permission.
All glorious creatures and intercessors are His slaves and cannot intercede for others until Allah allows them to do so. The Almighty said: “ Say: “To Allah belongs the entire intercession. To Him belongs the dominion over the heavens and the earth, and to Him you will be returned” (39:44).
Allah allows intercession only for those with whom He is pleased, and He is pleased only with those who profess monotheism and follow the path of His messengers, and if a person does not possess these qualities, then there is no share for him in intercession. Then Allah spoke about His limitless and all-encompassing knowledge, thanks to which He knows about everything that awaits creation in the future, no matter how distant it may seem, and about everything that happened to creation in the past, no matter how distant it may be.
Nothing can be hidden from Allah, Who knows even what the eyes sneak and what is hidden in the hearts. As for creations, they are capable of comprehending from the depths of God’s knowledge only what Allah wills. He taught them religious precepts and universal laws, but this knowledge is just a tiny particle that literally disappears in the ocean of the divine knowledge of the Great Creator. That is why the messengers and angels, who are better informed about Allah than all other creations, said: “ Glorified are You!” We know only what You taught us. Verily You are the Knowing, the Wise ” (2:32).
Then Allah announced His power and greatness, evidence of which is the Throne, which embraces the heavens and the earth. Allah protects the heavens and earth, as well as the creatures that inhabit them, thanks to the established universal order and certain laws by which creations live. However, this does not burden Him at all, since His power is perfect, His power is unlimited, and His instructions are full of wisdom. One of His beautiful names is the name Exalted. With His essence He is above creation, His qualities are full of greatness, all creatures and beings are submissive to His power, all slaves are subject and obedient to Him.
Another of His names is the name Great. He combines in himself all the qualities of greatness, honor, splendor and glory, due to which hearts are imbued with love for Him and souls with reverence. Those who have true knowledge know very well that the greatness of any creation, even the most illustrious and great, is insignificant in comparison with the greatness of the Exalted and Great Lord.
This verse truly has a glorious and delightful meaning and deserves to be called the greatest of the Quranic verses. And if a person reads it, reflecting on its meaning and comprehending its meaning, then his heart is filled with conviction, knowledge and faith, thanks to which he protects himself from the evil machinations of Satan and witchcraft.

Hadiths about Ayatul Kursi
The verse of al-Kursi (verse of the Throne, verse of the Throne) is mentioned in several hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
From Abu Dharr al-Ghifari, Muhammad ibn Abu Shayba reports from his words in “Kitab al-Arsh” that one day he was going to Masjidul Haram or the Sacred Mosque, there he met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who was sitting alone, and sat down to him with a question about which of the verses that were revealed to the Prophet ﷺ he ﷺ considers the best. And then the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ replied that he considered the verse of al-Kursi to be so, noting that all seven heavens in comparison with the Throne of the Almighty are just a ring that is thrown in the desert - the Throne of the Almighty Allah is as much superior to His Throne as the desert is superior to this thrown ring. This hadith was considered reliable by Sheikh al-Albani.
It is also reported from the words of Ubayy ibn Kaba that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ once asked him a question about whether he knew which verse in the Holy Quran was the greatest. To this Ubayy ibn Kaba replied that he considered this to be the verse that says that “ there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, the Living, the Ever-Existing... ”, and then the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ rejoiced, slapped him on the chest and said: “ May you you are happy in knowledge, O Abul-Munzir! " This is described in the hadith reported by Muslim.
There is another hadith in which the words of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ are conveyed from the words of Abu Umama: he narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said that those Muslims who, after completing the obligatory prayer, recite the verse of the Throne or verse al-Kursi, will fall Nothing will prevent you from going to Paradise except death. This hadith was cited in “Amal al-yaum wa-l-layla” by an-Nasai, as well as in “al-Mujam al-Ausat” and “al-Mujam al-Kabir” by at-Tabarani, it was also reported by Ibn Hibban, and The authenticity of this hadith was confirmed by ad-Dimyati, Hafiz al-Munziri, Sheikh Ahmad Shakir and al-Suyuty and Sheikh al-Albani.
At-Tabarani cited a hadith in which the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that a person who reads verse al Kursi after performing the obligatory prayer will be under the protection of the Almighty until the next prayer, but there is disagreement regarding the authenticity of this hadith.
Virtues of Ayatul Kursi
Regarding al-Kursi, a hadith is cited that tells how Abu Hurairah caught a thief while guarding the collected zakat, and the thief asked to be released and promised to teach Abu Hurairah such words that Allah would make useful for him. And he advised that before going to bed, read al-Kursi, and then the Guardian Angel will always be nearby, and the Shaitan will not dare to approach until the morning. When Abu Hurayrah told the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ about this, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ confirmed that this man told the truth, although he himself was a liar, since the Shaitan was hiding in the guise of this man.
In connection with Ayatul Kursi, a story is given from the words of Ubayy ibn Kaba, who decided to guard the stocks of his dates at night when he realized that their quantity was decreasing. He noticed the young man, greeted him and asked whether he was a man or a genie, and when the young man replied that he was a genie, Ubay asked to extend his hand and saw that his hand was like a dog’s paw, all covered with hair. The young man said that the genies found out that Ubay was making sadaqa, and sent one to take food. And then Ubay asked the genie what protects people from genies, and the genie replied: “Ayat al-Kursi from sura al-Baqarah.” The genie also said that the Muslim who reads the verse al-Kursi in the morning will be protected from the jinn until the evening, and the one who reads the verse al-Kursi in the evening will be protected from the jinn until the morning. In the morning, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ confirmed that this genie, although unclean, told the truth.
According to Ali ibn Abu Talib, he did not see a single Muslim believer “who had intelligence” who would not read Ayatul Kursi while falling asleep.
