Church of the Great Martyr Anastasia the Pattern Maker in Tyoply Stan

- an Orthodox church in the Teply Stan district of the South-Western district of Moscow. Belongs to the Paraskeva-Pyatnitsky deanery.

History[edit]

According to eyewitnesses, the appearance of a temple in Tyoply Stan was a long-standing desire of local residents. This is evidenced by the fact that since the mid-nineties, many of the residents of the area went to all possible authorities, state and church, and asked to build a temple in Tyoply Stan.

There has never been a temple on this site. Part of the population of this area was attributed to the churches of the Life-Giving Trinity in Konkovo, and partly to the parish of the Trinity Church in the village of Mosrentgen.

With the blessing of Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Rus', it was decided to begin construction of a new church in Tyoply Stan, dedicated to the Holy Great Martyr Anastasia the Pattern Maker. The new church belonged to the Mikhailovsky deanery at that time.

Dean of the Mikhailovsky district, rector of the Church of the Archangel Michael in Troparevo, Archpriest Georgy Studenov took an active part in the emergence of the new parish. At first, on the territory of the present church, there was nothing yet; the clergy from the Church of the Archangel Michael came to serve prayers and akathists.

Since 1997, the activities of the Parish Assembly began. At the time when the Parish Assembly was just beginning to exist, there was nothing on the territory allocated for development. There was not even a worship cross, there was not a single cabin. In an open field allocated by the district government for the project of erecting a temporary church, the first parishioners, usually residents of the district, gathered and performed prayers, read akathists, and memorial services.

In 1999, with the blessing of the clergy, Archpriest Boris Razveev († 03/30/2011), a cleric of the Church of the Resurrection of the Word at the Vagankovskoye cemetery, began to serve here, who specially came to Tyoply Stan and served prayer services at the site of the future church. Father Boris is still remembered by some of the church's regular parishioners.

When the first prayer calls to the Lord began, a parish began to form at this place, and construction began to become more dynamic. Over time, a worship cross was erected, and the first change house was donated, in which akathists could be read in any weather.

The main construction began in the first years of the new century. Benefactors donated structures for the future construction of the temple, concrete for the foundation, bricks, and cement. And on July 12, 2002, the dean of the Andreevsky district, priest Archpriest Anatoly Kozha, laid the foundation stone for the Church of Anastasia the Pattern Maker in Teply Stan.

In 2003, Priest Alexander Kovtun became rector of the parish. In the same year, the first liturgy was celebrated on Palm Sunday. It was from this time that the full-fledged parish life of the temple began.

Temple shrines

This monastery has several shrines that are revered among parishioners:

  1. A piece of the relics of Anastasia the Pattern Maker. They first appeared here in December 2013. You can bow before them every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  2. In addition, since November 2013, a piece of the relics of St. Nikander of Gorodnoezersk has appeared. His memorial day is celebrated on March 15 and November 4.
  3. Among the faces of saints, special attention is paid to the icon of the Kaluga Mother of God.

Current state[edit]

In the fall of 2003, the Sunday school at the temple began its activities. Every year, several dozen children are trained there. Over the years of its existence, the Sunday school has laid the foundation for the Orthodox worldview and piety for hundreds of growing up young people.

And since February 2010, the social service and the youth movement began their activities, which closely cooperate with each other and are already bringing good results.

Currently, next to the existing church of the Great Martyr Anastasia, construction is underway on a new large brick church of the Great Martyr Anastasia the Pattern Maker, designed for 900 parishioners. The decision to build it was made in 2007.

The three-domed, five-apse church in the bell tower above the western porch will be made in the traditions of Moscow architecture of the 16th century. The main cross-domed volume with a floor-to-ceiling roof is topped with a chapter with a light drum resting on the cross-shaped vault. Choirs are located in the western part.

Temple complex

Due to the insufficient capacity of the Church of the Great Martyr Anastasia, the construction of a large cathedral and additional extensions began in 2009. In 2012, Bishop Irinarh performed the rite of consecration of the temple complex in honor of the Kaluga image of the Blessed Virgin.

  • According to the architectural plan, the building will have three domes, five apses and a bell tower. It was decided to erect the building in the style of Moscow architecture of the 16th century. The lower tier will house office space. The large temple is designed for 900 people, its area will be 1150 m2.
  • The main construction work has been completed, and plastering and painting of the walls is planned for the summer of 2022. The timing is due to the fact that the brickwork must withstand a certain time without additional processing. The large church of the Kaluga Icon has been prepared for the rite of minor consecration; a temporary iconostasis has already been installed here and the necessary church utensils have been brought.

  • A clergy house will be built next to the cathedral; together with a Sunday school, they will support the general style. Today, the ground floor with ceilings has been built. Construction of a church shop and gatehouse is planned for 2022.

The construction of a large cathedral next to the Church of Anastasia the Patternmaker is proceeding at a slow pace, since the complex is being built with donations from the laity; the project has no major benefactors. In addition, the new cathedral is being built according to a complex architectural plan, and the technological process requires a pause.

On a note! The parish council appeals to Orthodox believers with an offer to take whatever part they can in the construction of the temple complex, because this is a labor-intensive task, but it will save the soul. Only through joint efforts will the residents of Teply Stan have the opportunity to come to the vast and elegant temple for Christian celebrations. The benefactors will be recognized by the Russian Orthodox Church as people who have accomplished great deeds for the glory of the Kingdom of the Lord.

Fire

On January 28, 2022, a fire occurred on the territory of the monastery. Many buildings were destroyed by fire. Thanks to the help of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, it was possible to extinguish the fire and save lives. Cells, warehouses and a kitchen with a refectory were damaged. Only a few days later the monks and parishioners were able to recover from their experience and begin clearing out the rubble.

Help came from all over vast Russia. Restoration work began at a rapid pace. New wooden buildings were quickly erected and they began to furnish them. The more difficult work was taken on by the monks and parishioners, and the easier work was entrusted to the pilgrims.

The Beaded Temple in Crimea in Bakhchisarai, fortunately, was not damaged by fire. In addition, construction of a new temple in the name of the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos “Three-Handed” has begun next to it. Visitors from different parts of Russia and even from some countries of the former Soviet Union are taking part in the construction. After all the work is completed, the monastery will become even more beautiful and unusual.

Description

The beaded temple in Crimea was made in a cave carved out of limestone. Such walls are very damp and paintings do not stick to them. An original way out of this difficult situation was found - all the jewelry was made of beads. All panels and compositions are also made from it.

The vault is decorated with the Star of Bethlehem and a Byzantine cross of incredible beauty. The lamps, of which there are 65, are also decorated with beads. There are not even two of them whose patterns would be identical. There are no windows at all in the Beaded Temple in Crimea. The room is illuminated with candles and lamps. Their flame is reflected in many beads and creates bizarre shadows on the walls and ceiling of the temple. The effect of a warm summer night is created. It took about three years to decorate the parish.

There are stasidia in the temple. These are wooden chairs with a high back and armrests. Stasidium seats are folding. The Ten Commandments are beaded on the backs. Elderly monks lean on these chairs at night during services.

Interior decoration

The Bead Temple is one of the most visited attractions in Bakhchisarai. Believers and ordinary tourists are attracted by the unusual interior decoration of the small cave temple.

As in any Christian church, the church in the name of Anastasia the Pattern Maker has the following three structures:

  • porch;
  • middle part;
  • altar.

The cave in which the temple was built has high humidity. In such conditions, neither plaster nor paint adheres to the walls. A solution was found after the monastery’s leader traveled to Athos. There Dorotheus saw woven beads. Returning to the Anastasyevsky monastery, the abbot began creating beaded jewelry.

Gradually, the walls were covered with icons and decorative panels made of small beads.

In the vestibule, on both sides of the metal doors, decorated with a forged pattern in the form of a grapevine, there are many red bags. Pilgrims write their deepest wishes on pieces of paper, put them in a bag and attach it to a beaded cross. Then the bags are hung on the wall in the vestibule. It is believed that these messages are read by the Lord.

Above the entrance to the central part of the temple there is an icon of the Savior, carved from limestone. A forged chandelier decorated with grape leaves hangs from the ceiling of the narthex.

In the central part of the Anastasia Church there are many wicker lamps that surround a panel on which a Byzantine cross is depicted on a blue background, enclosed in the star of Bethlehem. Along the walls of the cave there are icons and high chairs with folding seats. Their backs are covered with mosaics in the form of inscriptions that contain the text of the 10 commandments.

The floor in the temple was made using mosaic techniques in the Byzantine tradition. The altar is separated from the middle part by a forged iconostasis, in which beaded icons are installed. Behind the openwork Royal Doors there is a silk curtain. The walls of the altar are decorated with beaded paintings on biblical themes. All church utensils and vestments of clergy are decorated with beads and beads.

A special atmosphere is created thanks to the candles illuminating the temple. Their light, reflecting from thousands of glass faces, fills the room with an amazing glow.

Social work, daily activities

In addition to spiritual activities, the hermits run their own households. On the rocky ledges the monks planted a vegetable garden, flower beds and an orchard. For their own needs, they raise chickens, goats and horned domestic animals.

For their own needs and for sale to numerous pilgrims in the monastery shop, the monks make the following products:

  • icons and crafts made of beads;
  • natural soap;
  • sbiten and grape wine;
  • vegetable syrups and balms;
  • herbal infusions and teas.

With the help of monks and parishioners, construction work is underway to restore the monastery after a strong cathedral that took place in December 2022. The monks carry out daily obedience to the construction of a new monastery church. The hermits consider this activity a priority for the monastic community.

Saint Anastasia

The Great Martyr, in whose honor the church was consecrated, lived and did good deeds in Ancient Rome. The word “Patterner” means “deliverer from bonds.” Saint Anastasia is also called the Healer.

The ruler of the empire, Diocletian, persecuted the zealots of the Christian faith and subjected them to severe torture. The young girl, who learned the faith from her mother and spiritual teacher Chrysogon, took care of Christian prisoners, visited believers in prison, bandaged their wounds, fed them and strengthened them in the faith.

Anastasia’s mother died, and the girl was not supported in her aspirations by either her father or her husband, whom the saint did not marry of her own free will. Anastasia endured a lot of suffering from her unloved one. It became especially difficult after the death of her father, who left his daughter a huge inheritance. But God heard the prayers of the young maiden, and one day the hated husband, along with the crew of a ship sailing to Persia, drowned at sea during a storm. Now no one stopped Anastasia from taking care of the zealots of the faith.

Words and deeds of St. Anastasia left a mark on the minds and hearts of people, and there were more and more Christians on Roman soil. The authorities did not put up with this state of affairs, and one day Anastasia was stretched between four pillars and burned. The saint's relics were transferred to Constantinople, and then to the city of Thessaloniki, where a monastery was subsequently founded.

The prayer of Anastasia the Pattern Maker helps to get rid of illnesses, safely be released from places of imprisonment and be relieved of burdens.
