A pregnant woman will certainly be heard by the Higher Powers:

  • the baby will be born healthy and strong;
  • the rehabilitation period will not bring complications.

Drug pain relief

For drug pain relief during childbirth, analgesia and anesthesia methods are used. They differ in that during analgesia they use drugs that only partially reduce pain, while during anesthesia the patient is completely anesthetized, often with the loss of motor functions and consciousness.

Analgesia is provided both during contractions and during childbirth, and anesthesia is most often used during a cesarean section, that is, during childbirth. Epidural anesthesia occupies a special place in this classification - it is used both to relieve pain during contractions and for anesthesia during childbirth or during surgery.

Prayers before surgery

Prayer before a caesarean section should be directed not only to one Supreme Patron, but to several Saints. Each of them will provide some help, but it is important to take into account that the appeal must be sincere and come from the depths of the soul; it is better to forget about grief and sadness, completely surrendering to thoughts about the child.

It would also be useful for relatives who are worried about the woman in labor to study several prayer requests that will contribute to the safe birth of the baby. The patron saints will certainly react and prevent trouble.

Prayer of the expectant mother to the Lord Jesus Christ for the successful delivery of a healthy child

One of the main appeals is a prayer before Caesar, ascending to the Lord. It sounds like this:

“Jesus Christ, who was born of the eternal Father, with the assistance and pure favor of the Holy Spirit, help us, who keep Your basic commandments, to grow and multiply, to fill our Earth. Do not despise your servant (name), who gives birth in the name of His Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Forgive her all her sins, both voluntary and involuntary, grant her strength with Your grace, help her get rid of the burden, save her and the baby’s life, try to protect her with Your Angels from the machinations of evil, unkind spirits.”

Great Martyr Catherine

Since ancient times, Saint Catherine has been considered the patroness of women in labor and is always ready to help after an appeal. The appeal to the Great Martyr sounds like this:

“Beautiful Virgin, wise patroness of women, come to my aid in difficult times. Showing your intercession to wives who are going through the pains of childbirth, show your protection, allow them to easily endure childbirth in order to raise the child in the fear of God. I pray to You with tears and reverence, that You will not leave me, do not reject me, and hasten to heal me after I have been relieved of the burden. Amen".

Prayer before Caesarean section to Matrona of Moscow

Contacting Saint Matrona before an artificial birth will allow you not only to easily undergo surgery, but also to quickly heal.

“Matrona, your soul is far away, guarding the Golden Throne of the Lord, but the ashes remain on the ground. Hear my appeal, allow slave (name) to find peace and ask God to provide me with his protection. Let me give birth to a healthy baby, don’t make him pay for my sins, which I sincerely repent of every day and night. I trust only in You and believe that Your mercy will be limitless. Amen".

Panteleimon the Healer

“Saint Panteleimon, imitator of my Lord! Hear your sinful servant (name) and intercede before the Lord, ask Him for protection, may favor extend to me. Heal my wounds of body and soul, grant me and my baby health, and cover me with prosperity. Let me be worthy of holy mercy, help me glorify the Lord our God for many years.”

Prayer during childbirth as an assistant to the Blessed Virgin Mary

The highest patroness of women who are preparing for the birth of a baby, the Most Holy Theotokos, after a sincere appeal, will certainly give strength to cope with childbirth, heal the woman in labor physically, allow her to enjoy peace of mind, and prevent harm to the child.

“My merciful Mother, kindest Most Holy Theotokos! Show mercy to me, do not despise me, Your many-sinful servant. I resort to Your will and ask - visit my weak soul and ask Your Son for mercy, strength, and health for me and my baby. I trust in You - keep me under Your cover.”

Pain relief without drugs

So, if a woman is in good health and there are no complications during labor, then you can try to avoid painful sensations using various physiological methods: massage, water procedures, gymnastics and special breathing. All processes in the body are interconnected: if a woman is afraid, then a muscle spasm occurs, causing oxygen deficiency in the blood vessels and acute pain. Tension of the facial muscles causes a response spasm of the uterine uterus and delayed dilation of the cervix. Based on these data, when contractions occur, you need to relax and calm down, feeling that the pain is going away every minute.

Of course, it is not easy to immediately master such a technique, so during pregnancy it is necessary to attend special courses for expectant mothers, which teach the correct breathing tactics at different stages of childbirth, show basic relaxation techniques and exercises to relieve pain. Such courses can and should be attended with a partner, since many exercises are based on teamwork.

For physical exercise, you don’t need any special devices, you just need to listen to yourself and change positions more often, since physical activity makes labor easier and reduces pain. If the doctor has not prescribed bed rest, you need to walk more, preferably lying only on your side. Sitting is undesirable, as this creates pressure on the perineum.

Many women benefit from water procedures, but they can only be carried out if the water has not broken, since the risk of infection is very high. A warm bath with hydromassage is a great way to relieve tension and help you relax, but either a partner or someone from the medical staff must be present during the procedure. You can also use a shower cabin, directing streams of water to your back and lower abdomen. The water should be at a temperature of about thirty-six degrees so as not to cause bleeding. Aromatherapy, self-hypnosis and other techniques, including massage, are also quite effective in relieving severe pain. If desired, you can resort to a variety of techniques to minimize pain, but before using them, you should definitely talk with the doctor leading the birth.

First prayer

Accept, Lady Theotokos, the tearful prayers of Your servants who flow to You. We see You on the holy icon in your womb, bearing Your Son and our God, the Lord Jesus Christ. Even though you gave birth to Him painlessly, the mother bears the weight of sorrow and infirmity of the sons and daughters of men. With the same warmth falling on Your whole-hearted image and tenderly kissing this, we pray to You, All-Merciful Lady: we, sinners, condemned to give birth to illnesses and nourish our children in sorrows Intercede graciously and compassionately. Deliver our babies, as well as those who gave birth to them, from a serious illness and bitter sorrow; Grant them health and prosperity, and their nourishment will increase from strength to strength, and those who feed them will be filled with joy and consolation, as even now, through Your intercession, from the mouth of a child and those who piss, the Lord has fulfilled I give my praise.

O Mother of the Son of God! Have mercy on the mother of the sons of men and on Your weak people: quickly heal the illnesses that befall us, quench the sorrows and sorrows that are upon us, and do not despise the tears and sighs of Your servants. Hear us on the day of sorrow, falling before Your icon, and on the day of joy and deliverance, accept the grateful praise of our hearts. Offer our prayers to the Throne of Your Son and our God, that He may be merciful to our sin and weakness and add His mercy to those who know His name, as we and our children may glorify You, the Merciful Intercessor and the faithful Hope of our race, forever and ever . Amen.

After childbirth, a woman can visit the temple only after 40 days

Uncleanness according to the Old Testament indicates whether an Orthodox person can take part in any church rituals. Ritual purity is something incomprehensible to the human mind, but for the church it is not so important. One law that still exists today is nida.

Nida is female impurity. After the birth of a child, a woman cannot avoid bleeding. Nida occurs until the eighth clean day, when the discharge has already stopped.

A pregnant woman after giving birth cannot visit the temple. And it can be no earlier than 40 days. If a woman wants to visit the temple before the baptism of her child, then she needs to perform a ritual ceremony. The ceremony is performed by a priest.

How long does it take to recover after a caesarean section?

Recovery is an individual process, but in general it takes longer to recover from a cesarean section than from a vaginal birth. As a rule, after a cesarean section, the mother remains in the hospital for several more days, and doctors monitor her health and the healing of the postoperative wound.

Try to get plenty of rest, although it’s not easy with a newborn baby. Do not lift anything heavier than the baby, regularly wipe the post-operative scar with an antiseptic to prevent infection. Choose loose clothing to prevent chafing and irritation in the scar area. Don't drive or exercise until your doctor tells you to (usually two to four weeks after giving birth). Recovery after a caesarean section without complications takes 4-6 weeks.

Ikos 6

Having revealed true enlightenment, Most Pure Mother of God, Thy wonderful icon appeared as a parent for consolation, for scattered families for reunification, for those who rise up against the Lord with unbelief as a warning, for all of us for strengthening and eternal bliss in Christ, granted by the Lord through redemption. We, marveling at the care for us, gratefully cry out to Ti:

Rejoice, thou who deliverest us from sudden death.

Rejoice, thou who driveth away dark spirits with Thy holiness.

Rejoice, you who cover us with Your protection.

Rejoice, you who teach us to pray truly.

Rejoice, you who incline us to long-suffering in sorrows and illnesses.

Rejoice, Thy God-bearing hand for us sinners, who continually lifts up the Son in prayer.

We recommend studying Psalm 81

Rejoice, thou who hast not forsaken any more faithful to Thy Son through intercession.

Rejoice, thou who covert the weak with Thy blessed Protection.

Rejoice, Helper in childbirth, bringing Your children to the King of glory.

The main prohibition for visiting the temple is that a woman should not shed blood.

But it is worth mentioning not only about religious issues regarding the ban on visiting a church for a young mother and her child. This, for example, is the fact that many people can get sick, even with simple colds, and this can greatly affect the child’s health.

What other prohibitions should you know about visiting a temple? It is also important that in the church a woman should not shed blood - this is a great law. Therefore, nowadays there are many hygiene products that women can use.

Currently, no rituals are performed in the temple.

To go to temple after childbirth, there is a special prayer. The prayer should be read before the priest. If you follow the laws of the Bible, then this happens on the fortieth day after birth. In order to get to your child’s baptism, you need to read the 40th day prayer.
