Prayer

Master Lord Jesus Christ my God, who for the sake of Your ineffable love for mankind was clothed in the flesh at the end of the ages by the Ever-Virgin Mary, I glorify Your saving providence for me, Your servant, Master; I will sing praises to You, because for the sake of the Father I have known You; I will bless You, for whose sake the Holy Spirit has come into the world; I bow to Your Most Pure Mother in the flesh, Who served such a terrible secret; I praise Your angelic faces, as the singers and servants of Your Majesty; I honor John the Baptist, who baptized You, O Lord; I honor the prophets who proclaimed You, I glorify Your holy apostles; I triumph and the martyrs, and I glorify Your priests; I worship Your saints, and I cherish all Your righteous ones. I bring such and such a many and ineffable face of the Divine into prayer to You, Thy all-generous God, Thy servant, and for this sake I ask forgiveness for my sin, grant me all of Thy for the sake of the saints, more abundantly than Thy holy bounties, for Thou art blessed forever. Amen.

Akathist to Christ

Before the execution took place, I would like to mention the fact that Jesus was betrayed by one of his apostles. His name is Judas, he sold the Messiah for only thirty pieces of silver, and it was from him that the son of God was captured and sentenced to death. Such an event also became torment and a big blow for Christ, because the betrayal was the most vile and base, and most importantly from someone who was close to Him.

The execution of crucifixion became painful, humiliating and cruel. Only damned bandits who committed a crime by killing their own kind died such a death. The torment experienced by the man who was crucified cannot be expressed in words. In addition to physical pain, those crucified experienced a thirst for justice and a complete lack of understanding of what was happening. The death was prolonged and the crucified did not die immediately, but after several days. Even those who were tasked with carrying out such a cruel execution could not calmly observe the suffering of the hanged . They helped the doomed, preparing them a drink to quench their thirst, in order to at least a little atone for their appearance and ease their fate.

Among the Jews there was a belief that those who were hanged meant people who had a curse on them. Christ was offered wine with a sour admixture, but He refused to drink it, claiming that if he took this torment upon himself for all mankind, he would carry it to the end.

The crucifixion took place around noon, and during the crucifixion process, Jesus, turning to the Almighty, repeated, “Father, have mercy on them and forgive them, they do not know what they are doing!” Two villains who committed a number of crimes were crucified next to Jesus.

After the hanging, those who crucified Christ began to divide his clothes among themselves. Even while on the cross, He did not stop receiving insults, slander and smirks. The elders said with a grin that he saved others, but was unable to save himself. If He now comes down from the cross unharmed, we will believe in Him.

Jesus reminded people that he is the Savior, people talking among themselves said: “He calls for Elijah,” and others said, “Will Elijah come to save Christ?” When the Son of God felt that everything had happened, he announced with just one word, “I thirst.” After these words, one of the people moistened the sponge with vinegar and presented it to the Savior’s lips.

Having tasted the vinegar, He said, “It has happened” (this word meant human salvation took place). Then Jesus said loudly, “Father, I commit my spirit into Your hands,” and breathing out his last breath, he died.

The sudden earthquake made everyone believe that the crucified man was the true son of God. When Friday evening arrived, it was time to eat Easter. The soldiers did not want to leave those crucified on the crosses until Easter Saturday, and therefore they asked Pilate for permission to hit the shins of the martyrs on the crosses to speed up their death (after death, the crucified are immediately removed from the crosses). To which, they received their permission and hit the bandits on the shins, but when they approached the Messiah, they saw that he had already died, and therefore did not do the same with him. However, in order to make sure of the death of Christ, one of the soldiers thrust a spear directly into His ribs, and then water and blood leaked from the wound.
