The Monk Athanasius of Athos was a mentor to monks, led an ascetic life and in his humility was a servant to everyone. He did not disdain caring for the seriously ill, lepers. He had the gift of healing, but in order to hide the power of his prayer from others, he prescribed various herbs for the sick. Many suffering from an attack of passions, such as anger, were completely freed from it after the saint’s prayer.
